Room was very small. Heater emitted an order when on. Room was small. Bathroom needed work.
Clean to the max, super receptionist, good breakfast, easy off easy on to I95
Room smelled very bad. Gym was locked and staff claimed they did not have the keys to open the door. Women setting up breakfast was very nice.
The breakfast was convenient as was the location to the highway.
Yes, the room had a musty smell.

There was ample parking; however we were forced to park on the road both nights due to oversized vehicles taking up at least 3 parking spaces. I spoke to the receptionist about this and was offered an apology.
Free breakfast was delicious and rooms very clean
The desk clerk, Holly, was extremely attentive to us, even calling our room to see that all was in order. All the staff asked if we were enjoying our stay, including the breakfast gal, the desk attendant, and the hotel manager.
Closeness to the freeway.
The rooms were not filthy, but the hotel is aging, and not gracefully.

the handicap shower. The mgr said it was federal regulation, but the shower curtain was too short making floor wet ,slippery and dangerous

We endorse Marriott hotels all the way but this particular hotel needs an instant update. The bathroom was dismal. Dirty tile grout, bathtub had a gray, worn bottom as if the finish was deteriorating, bathroom mirror had worn finish in several places. 2 little sad cakes of soap were on the counter and quality of towels and linens must be bottom of the barrel. Our dog towels are in better shape. Carpet in front of elevator was extremely dirty with obvious stains and spots. 'Breakfast gal' was the best thing going. She was super helpful and cheerful, going out of her way to assist and constantly wiping tables, rearranging breakfast offerings and generally seemed to like her job and the customers she's helping. The carpeting and general decorating in this Fairfield is very 70's with orange walls, green, orange and gold rugs in a scary design, and left us feeling we were in another time and place. I believe even the TV was still Analog - at least that's what showed on the screen. Hotel definitely needs a visit from the Marriott team.
We traveled to VA due to a death in our family. The stay here made a big difference. We did not arrive to the hotel unti 1:30 am but the staff was extremely helfpul and available for questions. Our room was great. The bed was so comfortable we did not want to get out of it. Because of such a great experience, we extended out stay for another night. The decor was contemporary style. Bright colors and very inviting lobby and room. Thanks Marriott Emporia. You make the difference in this small city. I wish you were in every city that we travel.
We were very pleased with the hotel. It is nothing fancy but the rooms were clean and the staff was very friendly. We did not partake of the breakfast so cannot rate it. We had a good night's sleep and would return to this hotel if ever in that area again.
We had to make a thousand mile trip to visit family. With two kids thats not a great thing at times. This pool has a wonderful pool and hot tub for all to use. My seven yr old wanted a suite and with the coupon we got from the rest stops, it was very affordable. The hot breakfast in the morning had something for even the pickiest eater. We are planning our trip again and we are stopping in this hotel on the way down AND BACK.
The employees were very courteous. I think that took my mind away from the other problems: carpet in our room needed cleaning, drapes weren't room darkening , wasn't a comforter on the bed. Plenty of places in the area to eat, however no directory or information in the room about them . The ice machine broken, water in pool didn't look inviting. One plus, the broken elevator was quickly repaired. I'm accustom to traveling and staying at the Courtyard Marriott. I expected a little from a ''Marriott''. If all Fairfield Inns are this way, I won't be staying at another!
