9.7 Excellent (66 reviews)
With a stay at La Chambre 21 in Entrevaux, you'll be 18.3 mi (29.4 km) from Valberg and 27 mi (43.4 km) from Gorges du Verdon. Guests will find features like a car charging station.
Pros: This has been the hardest review to write from the recent holiday largely because I don't want my comments to be seen as overtly negative. They are intended to help those following, who choose this property, to get the most out of it. Its located in the very old part of Entrevaux. There is no access to it by car the nearest you can get is about a 100 yds away and parking is in the public car park nearby ( which seemed reasonably secure.). Its the top floor of a private house , 3 floors up a spiral staircase so A MINIMUM AMOUNT OF LUGGAGE is highly recommended. Its lovely, airy , quiet with a balcony overlooking the roof tops where you can sit out and have breakfast. Although there are a maze of narrow streets/ alleys in the old part there are 3 restaurants within 5 minutes walk and in the absence of traffic its a lovely spot to have a quiet evening meal. The owner who lives below is charming and she brings breakfast up in the morning ( including scrambled eggs) which was excellent.
Pros: Marie is a great Host and Breakfast was wonderful!
Pros: Perfect breakfast, balcony with beautiful scene, Marie is a really nice host.
Pros: Great views of the Citadel and the sunrise over the hills from the patio. The breakfast was excellent!
Pros: The hostess was very friendly and helpful. The view was amazing and overall a great experience.
Pros: The room was very cute and well appointed and the hostess Marie was very communicative, helpful, and kind.
Pros: Our host was charming and the breakfast exceptional. The balcony was an ideal place to enjoy a glass of rose, thoughtfully provided. The location was right in the heart of the old town.
Cons: There was no air conditioning, although in fairness that might be because of planning restrictions due to the location
Pros: My father and I stayed one night in unique Entreveaux and we could not have asked for a more amazing place to stay. Marie was an amazing host, the location is perfect and the place memorable!
Pros: Room with balcony, which really made it for us. Without the balcony the room would have been less pleasant. Not sure there were any other rooms with a balcony. No communal area for guests, so breakfast served in our room - or in our case, on the balcony. Good breakfast. In addition to the normal complimentary bottle of water there was a complimentary half bottle of a decent red wine - a nice touch.
Cons: Don't stay here if you find steep stairs difficult. No car access to the old village at all, so you have to carry your luggage for a couple of hundred yards of (delightful) narrow winding cobbled streets
Pros: Marie was fabulous. The room was spacious, modern interior and had a nice view ... and the village is magic. a great stay. Highly recommended. A few stairs to climb but if you are going to stay in a 700 year old medieval village it goes with the territory. And Marie does a great breakfast too.

Pros: Hosts were very friendly and charming - collected us from the station which was very helpful
Pros: Very friendly and hospitable, personaly, good and very warm heartily atmosphere
Cons: The hosting family was very nice, friendly and courteous
Pros: Nice breakfast, clean rooms, quiet neighborhood, very remote
Pros: Breakfast was nice, the rooms and bathroom were clean and smelled lovely like lavender
Pros: Amazing value for a single-occupancy room. It was great to be greeted like an old friend, even though I had never been there before. It's a lovely rural environment, with the horses, rabbits, tortoise and friendly dog. Very nice opportunity to chat to other guests over breakfast, including the Excellent home-made jams.
Cons: At this price, it feels unfair to have dislikes, especially as it was such a fun place to stay. So, just keep in mind the price, the rustic building and the rural location.
Pros: Strategic position near "Gorges de Daluis" and "Gorges de Clan". The hostess is very very welcoming. Very appreciated the places for the motorbikes and the quiet of the garden.
Cons: Breakfast was only sweet, rooms are smaller than they appear in the pictures.
Pros: A fantastic stay, warm welcome, well looked after, very very helpful owner and amazing breakfast with lots of home made produce.
Cons: We had to leave to catch a flight. It would have been nice to stay much longer.
Pros: great host, very friendly. interesting environment, real countryside experience with rustic building and the rural location look for the sign, don't trust GPS
Cons: only sweet breakfast, not clean enough
Pros: Stefano , the owner's welcome is incredible and unique. The apartment and the location are optimum. A place absolutely to be.
Pros: facilities, well equiped kitchen, wifi. Excellent host
Pros: Beautifully restored country estate property. Great location for exploring the south of France. Quiet and peaceful and not too far from the historic village of Entrevaux. Very nice hostess and a simple country breakfast.
Cons: A slightly more substantial breakfast would have been nice; and the bath/shower felt more like we were staying with relatives than at a hotel.
Pros: Excellent location, very nice nature and villages around and excellent breakfast. Thank you!
With a stay at La Guérite in Sausses, you'll be in the mountains, and 12.8 mi (20.6 km) from Valberg and 26.8 mi (43.1 km) from Gorges du Verdon. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Delightful owner and host in Richard Amenta, who prepared and served a very good dinner. We loved the village and quirkiness of the hotel. Breakfast was good and there was lots of flexibility as to timing.
Cons: We visited towards the end of March and it was cold at night and although there was a wood burning stove in the dining room and a electric heater in the bedroom we were either too hot or cold. The bed was very comfortable but room was not en suite as we had expected. As here was no one else staying that was not a problem as it might otherwise have been. The bedroom was not clean with cobwebs in the corners of the ceiling and behind the bedside cupboards which we discovered when we needed to access the power points. Probably a wonderful place to stay in warmer months.
Pros: great location, very warm welcome and contact, great dinner, local and very personal touch, quiet
Pros: Well maintained, centuries old building in quiet village. Richard was great host!
Pros: Nice dinner cooked and served by host with glass of wine on a small veranda. Highly recommended to order the dinner. Charming hotel. Good coffee. Road that goes to this hotel is amazing - red ochre colored mountains with many short tunnels. The road itself is enough reason to stay in this hotel. Overall one of the best places we stayed during our 14 days trip. Internet (2Mbps satellite) was actually working very good considering the remote location of the hotel.
Cons: Was a but difficult to find in the dark even with GPS. Private bathroom is next to the room so you have to take few stairs. That's probably because the house is almost some sort of a historical building.
With a stay at Hotel Les Alizés in Puget-Theniers, you'll be 27.6 mi (44.4 km) from Valberg and 30.9 mi (49.8 km) from Gorges du Verdon. Featured amenities include wired Internet access (surcharge), multilingual staff, and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Good little place. Good parking dor motorbikes.
Pros: Clean comfortable rooms at a very reasonable rate. The owner was friendly and helpful. We did not know about the small outside swimming pool but it looked very inviting after our long cycle
Cons: I was happy with all services
Pros: This is really a great place to stay. The hotel is clean and comfortable and you have everything you need and all the staff are super helpful and super friendly. The pool is also lovely and although the town is small, you will be in the middle of it.
Pros: Very clean, friendly staffs
Cons: Staff was not so good in English
Pros: The staff has been really kind, the breakfast was wonderful. We've been travelling with motorcycles and there's a covered space outside where you can park for free.
Pros: Convenience to the station for our early departure. Happy to store our large rucksacks for the day whilst we visited nearby Entrevaux.
Pros: Very comfortable bed. We had a fan otherwise it would have been an uncomfortable sleep. Supermarket nearly next door. Easy walk into restaurants. We didn't opt for the 9euro breakfast. Didn't use the pool, heaps of children in there and very crowded
Cons: Check in took ages . It was hot, we had been on the motorbike for hours so bad timing with very slow check-in for us, however the gentleman there did everything he could to help everyone. Very accomodating, thank you
Pros: Easy to find, the owner was so lovely and super helpful upon our arrival. We were travelling with our fridge van en route to support a big charity event, so needed to sort some bits out and the owner was amazing. Room was perfect, spotless and lovely views. A great restaurant around the back of the hotel literally two minutes walk! We had a really relaxing and tasty dinner on the terrace. All in all a fab experience - highly recommended.
Pros: The room was very comfortable with a modern shower room and toilet. The hotel is centrally located, in proximity to the town centre and railway station. There is a very good selection of restaurants nearby.
This hotel is located in the medieval village of Puget-Rostang in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. It offers rooms with private entrances and en suite bathrooms. The property is at the foot of the GR 510 hiking trail. Auberge Du Riou has a restaurant, which serves traditional and regional cuisine. Guests can relax on the outdoor terrace or enjoy a drink in the bar. The property features a children’s playground, and many activities can be enjoyed in the area including canoeing, rafting, and via ferrata. Free parking is available near the hotel. Auberge Du Riou is approximately an hour’s drive from the Italian border and Nice is 50 km away. The Valberg Ski Station is 40 km from the hotel.
Pros: All was good.
Pros: Amazing dinner. Highly recommend the three meal course!
Pros: Very nice stop for motobikers. You stay in a quite and warm place. It's simple but clean and confortable. Very kind people of the property that put us a big screen to watch soccer match during the dinner. Thank you
Cons: It's a pity that a nice stay in a beautiful structure could be ruined by the presence of flies during the dinner and you can't have a window open if not the room is full of its. I think it's easy to protect the rooms and the hall by the invasion.
Pros: Everything was great.
Pros: The restaurant, very good dishes very well presented and tasty.
Cons: The room clean but too basic, not even a fan in summer too warm and lack of oxygen.
Pros: The hotel is located in a remote village around 30 minutes drive north of Entrevaux. It is a very beautiful and peaceful location. The food was excellent. Accommodation is basic and rustic but clean.
Cons: If you don't like rustic don't go there but its very typical of many French locations. We like its authenticity. There was no air con in our room which made it very hot at night. Otherwise a pleasant stay.
Pros: Its difficult to find a perfect grading. Some things were good, some things were bad. The rooms were perfectly clean and it was out in the mountains 10min away from the next little village. The beer was refreshing, diner was okish and the spot was authentic as such with a little river close by - with a little effort (tip to the owner) it could be way nicer.
Cons: We stayed for more than 1 night ( 4 days) - breakfast was everyday the same - and very simple. The same bread, marmalade and cheese and KIWI ( as fruit) everyday. Owners served it in their pyjamas, that you felt you are at someones place where you don't want to be or you are too early;) - on top heavy smokers - ashtrays everywhere and you smell it...very bad WLAN conncetion....
Pros: The staff is really super friendly and also efficient. The rooms are spacy, quite and very clean. the restaurant food is very good at fair prices.
Cons: The choice of the restaurant menu could be a bit wider.
With a stay at Les 2 Alpes in Puget-Theniers, you'll be on a river, and 26.6 mi (42.8 km) from Valberg and 30.2 mi (48.6 km) from Gorges du Verdon. Featured amenities include express check-in and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The welcome and the quiet.
Cons: Not well-signed at night
Cons: bedding smell was not so good
