We have stayed at The Hamilton in previous years, and their food and service has remained at a high level.
The staff were very pleasant and helpfull. I thought the food was very poor. The beds were very uncomfortable in the roon i stayed in.
Very pleasant stay but the room was very small and the shower and other facilities were a little tired.
The hotel is in a great location in the Es Castel area. It is just a 5 minutes bus ride from the center of Mahon. The hotel was clean and we had a wonderful ocean and bay view after paying a small supplement. The bathroom size was adequate and the shower had good water pressure. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast had a wide variety of European foods. The hotel does not have ice machines. The air conditioning did not work very well -- it did not really cool the room down that much. The rooms, bathrooms, and hallways needed upgrading. We found some big beetle-type bugs running around in our room even though we were on the fourth floor. Finding parking near the hotel for a rental car was a challenge.
the staff - the food - the room - the hotel itself - 100% first class. i was in mahon to attend my brother in laws funeral staying at the barcalo made the unhappy event bearable. none
Close to lovely Es Castell. Great location and easy access to airport. Fantastic views across the port of Mahon.Enjoyed pool. Breakfast enjoyable Decor of hotel a little tired and threadbare. Not quite what I expected from Barcelo chain.
It was handy for completing business in Mahon. We stayed on half board and the food was not up to the standard my friend had previously experienced
The location for us was very good, we like to walk to restaurants in the evening and the harbour was lovely. We did not like the fact that we had to move two days before the end of our holiday. The Hotel Capri, in Mahon was very nice but we would have prefered to be in a hotel situated more like the Hamilton
Food was very good & the staff are very freindly and helpful decor in the rooms where a bit tired looking
Buffet, although little vegetables The first room they gave us was like a room in a low star hostel. We claim for another room and we had to stay in the same room 2 nights (we were only 5...). Moreover, the bathroom was not cleaned during our stay in the first room (towels in the same bad position we had left them, no shower gel for the second day). After that, they change us to a better quality room, in a fourth floor, sea sightseeing, bigger and better equiped.
The staff were friendly. The hotel has a magnificent view. The food was good. The pool was good. The publice areas are extensive and nice.
excellent helpful staff breakfast excellent location breath taking he bathroom in need of updating
I think the location over looking the bay is probably its best asset together with a great swimming pool. The choice of food at the breakfast is excellent lots of fruits and juices and cooked dishes, as well as on demand omelette. The dinner buffet is excellent value for money. Also the staff are very nice especially Ester at the reception and the housekeeper respects your timing. The harbour is walking distance and best to see at night with all its lights and restaurants ie @Peter's Dinkums The acoustic from the rooms is the only little thing and also only BBC world in english and no french channels on the tv.
Its very old fashioned furniture wise.. Could really do with refurbishing..
The breakfast was very good, and they changed it a bit every day. It included local specialities as well as common international foods. It was great that they had free wifi, which I was not expecting in Menorca. It was a great location and quiet. It would have been nice if we could get a second wifi account so that we could use two devices during our stay. Also, the pool was extremely cold, which is quite odd considering the weather was very warm.
Location fantastic Food not very good atall.
I like that the hotel is not too big and that it has a great location just at Es Castell which is a very nice village for example to go and have dinner there is all this nice restaurants just very close to it with fresh fish. The rooms are nice and they all have a balcony to the sea. It is noisy in the morning. Around 8h30 the cleaning women starts doing massive noise... the doors are always banging because they have this forced closing sistem that makes no sense in hotel doors. Not everybody goes for breakfast at 8h00 so I think the noise in the morning is not nice.
only stayed one night '@ Hotel Agamenon , lovely views from the hotel ,comfortable room car park a little small and full
We had a fabulous three day stay and we would definitley go back again.Lovely views from the room and dining room, and the food was excellent. Most of all, the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Food at breakfast and lunches was very good. Location of hotel ideal for our trip and set in lovely grounds. The views from our room window and balony were outstanding. Staff friendly. All commual areas, gardens and rooms very clean.
Hotel Reception was exceptionally helpful
We think we got the best room! The hotel is a very comfortable and nice located in a quiet spot in Es Castell. Nice restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast buffet very complete. Personnel extremly friendly and helpful. They provided good restaurant tips by request! Very nice swimming pool not very full. We would highly recommend this hotel. Every time a guest would go out the room the door would slam. They need to fix that.
Breakfast, cleanliness and staff
The hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff were all extremely pleasant and went out of their way to be helpful. We eat breakfast there and it was excellent.
I enjoyed the use of the spa facilities. The breakfast choice was excellent. We only stayed 1 night so did not make use of the restaurant. The only small thing was that the room smelt smokey when we first arrived, however I mentioned this and a maid came to spray it and this helped in freshening up the room.
pleasant staff It was too far to walk to the port in comfort and uphill to walk back-not good if you have back problems either as beds very hard. Noisy too, as road works in progress in the street below. If without car which we were no info about bus times etc
Stayed in apartment battached to hotel. Clean, but a little bare. 15 mins walk from harbour
Breakfast buffet was outstanding. Very nice simple pool and spa on the roof. The Telegraph bar is most pleasant.
Good location. Great breakfast The website said that there was a spa and a pool, but both were closed due to renovations during my stay.
Mostly Everything. Hot food at breakfast not very hot. No kettle in room for making tea or coffee
Staying at Capri was very nice and we found the hotel staff to be very friendly and very helpful. We found the hotel and apartments very clean and well looked after. Overall a very pleasant stay and would return there without a doubt. Thank You.
Staff were very helpful indeed and more than willing to provide local information. The spa facilities were also lovely, if a little small. The breakfast was a particular highlight with a huge range of food and quality each day.
Breakfast fabulous, hotel very clean and central location There wern't any
Location, near bus stop. Balcony
Great pool, views, anmals, beautiful rooms, excellent dinner chaotic breakfast
My Wife and I particularly enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the hotel. We liked it's geographical position in relation to beaches, countryside, shopping, other quality resturants, and access to the airport. We liked the quiet efficiency of all hotel staff and would not hesitate to reccommend Sant Joan de Binissaiida to all that we meet ! Absolutely nothing !
We were lucky to enjoy Chef Marc's masterpiece of a meal last Saturday. Alas, dinner is not served on Sunday or Monday, so we had to make do with his breakfasts. We'd have loved to change our itinerary to stay longer at this beautiful and friendly place, but.... Would stay there again.
The hotel was situated in a lovely rural setting with great views. The staff were all very helpful and the room was very comfortable. It would have been nice to have the option of a double bed.
There was nothing open only 6 people in the whole 120 room hotel no train as advertised no entertainment as advertised no poolside bar open the area is very very quite none of the 4 shops open ghost town
It was easy to find, cheap to stay, and had very thing I needed. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included but wasn't good. Spent extra money to have a dinner at one of the nearby sister-hotels, and went through the pains of making a reservation and getting dressed up for it, but it was only a buffet with decent food. Located close to a few beaches, but the better ones were far away
The staff friendliness above all and the extra activities (sports centre with mountain biking, diving, tennis, trekking, etc...) Accessibility (it's close to the airport, but is almost only accessible by car - poor bus service)
Perfect atmosphere for relax.
I like the view to the harbour and water You had to walk a lot of stairs to reach the hotel
The accommodations were good and the staff friendly and helpful
Very good! staf is very friendly!!! Trully recommend!
Distance from Mahon Centre and tired decor in room
veiws of harbour beds and small room
excellent breakfast. amazing views. lovely staff. a little bit of walking into town which some people could stuggle with.
Very friendly and helpful staff, air-conditioning a boon, shady garden for sitting in heat of the day, wonderful position overlooking the harbour and watching the fire-works, gargantuan breakfast, try the pomada, easy walking distance to bus-station, old town and local squares where you can stroll in the evening with the townsfolk.
The location, the friendly staff, and the proffessional running of the hotel, especially the blond lady that was at breakfast The bedroom was a little cold, we where not able to work the heating
Good standard, value for money I found the hotel hard to find and carparking a problem
The tall male member of staff was very pleasant and helpful. The air conditioning in the room I was given did not work at all, and after a change of room the following day the main light did not work. I felt that both faults were obvious, which led me to form the impression that the hotel is not well-maintained. The female staff member to whom I complained about the faulty facilities made me feel very awkward - as a paying guest of the hotel I did not appreciate her attitude at all.
The rooms were comfortable, clean and modern. The staff were friendly and helpfull. The spa was a little too dear. There was a wide choice of good quality food. The pool area was stylish, immaculate and spacious. The glass wall between the bathroom and bedroom could be a little "awkward" for friends when using the shower.
It's a modern hotel, with all of the commodities that we can expect from a 4* hotel. The rooms are pleasant and clean.
The Staff were very helpfull and friendly. They were quick to move me after I complained about the location of my room. The rooms were very clean and modern. The room locations were badly planned as a lot of the rooms looked straight into another room with no view what so ever. I felt that I could not go out onto my balcony or leave the curtains open. I requested another room that was a lot quieter and looked out onto a field. The food was nice but not very hot.
Convenient location, clean rooms, very friendly and helpful staff, good buffet breakfasts and dinners! Checking in and out took quite a while
we have stayed at this hotel before (13 years ago) and have used the barcelo chain since, this hotel offers a wide range of facilities to cater for every age. an ideal family hotel very popular with other europeans not just british holiday makers.we will be returning.
We travelled with another couple and were put into ajoining rooms which was very convenient and made out stay more pleasurable
Location, at three minutes walking to Punta Prima beach, which is a great beach. Inside hotel area, everything is very spacefully, with a lot of green areas, trees, 4 swimming-pools, and things for all family.
I enjoyed our stay at the Hotel because it was relaxing, without too much disturbance from young people, particularly around the pool area. For a supposedly (applied for) 4 star hotel, the buffet food on every day of our 6 night stay was appalling.
Good location, good hotel, good room, good price! Not being able to get a meal 5 mins after the kitchen had closed.
Functional hotel in somewhat old fashioned style, located 10 minutes from the old city, nice views from some rooms over the harbour
Nothing I did not like the very loud noise of the band. It spoils the beautiful look over the harbour at night. You could not talk with each other because of the music and you have to speak with a very loud voice to the waitress to place your order. the coffee machine was broken down and the machine who did work gave coffee drip by drip.
Courtesy of all staff. Magnificent Mahon harbour view room. Buffet dinner at 15Euros good value No hot drink making facilities in room!!
We were given a free upgrade to a suite, which was to an excellent standard. The staff were friendly, professional and very helpful No
The view from the room fronting the port in the morning! The room service did not have all the menu items available, I had to change my order many times in order to finally get something I like.
We had a lovely room with a great view over the port. Only criticism, was the pool furniture was old and uncomfortable
The facilities were good and the position of the hotel was excellent We were not impressed by the self service restaurant although the food was reasonable if you were late to dinner it had been hanging around for a while. We would recommend bed and breakfast, rather than half or full board.
We have stayed at the hotel on many occasions and you can always be assured of a warm reception. None. the buffet restaurant is also very good
Lovely setting peaceful quiet resort, I was on holiday on my own and felt safe and relaxed at all time. Hotel perfect for older people not really for families. Every thing about the S'Algar is good perhaps the chef needs to stop putting sauce on everything and stick to simple cooking.
A well appointed 1970`s hotel,a par of the S`Algar developement, built around mature tropical gardens.Room clean with effective aircon, buffet breakfast excellent choice and well prepared lasting pleasingly late(10.30).Rooms cleaned thoroughly daily.Pool immaculate & large. Service at pool bar dreadful.Buffet dinner not really worth eating.NB:S`Algar is 5kms from the nearest town San Lluis, and has 1 small supermarket and 2 restaurants,no sandy beach.I hired a car for 3 days out of 6 there.
The quietness and non-commercial aspect of of the location I do not believe that the Buffet Main Meat,Fish,Veg selection was of 4* quality; I am basing this judgement on constant use of 4* hotels when away from home both in UK and Abroad
Beautiful location, excellent facilities with very pleasant, relaxing environment within the hotel. Very good spacious room overlooking sea and air conditioning was very welcome. A very pleasant holiday.
The friendly and helpful staff. The tranquility of the location and that it was a small hotel. nothing
the view not at all 4star hotel, 2 at the most
peaceful and comfortable if a little dated The restaurant was poor and as the only one within 2 miles in a large residential/mooring a real missed opportunity
Excellent location, but must have a hire car, for touring the Island of Menorca, great views across to Mahon and only 30 mins drive from Mahon. Excellent facilities [bar, restaurant, pool etc]. Although we booked the hotel in January, for a two week stay, we were relocated to a higher grade hotel, within the hotel group, for the last five nights of our holiday, at Son Bou, with no extra cost to ourselves. The second hotel was superb in all respects and the arrangements for the move were faultless. The move was as a result of no bookings at the Cala Llonga hotel at the end of September. The downside to the move was that we had to pack & unpack an extra time.
comfortable,excellent value for money
Relaxed, laid back. Excellent in reception, restaurant less so. The food in restaurant was adequate only.Room was smelly because of lack of airing only.
the view not allowed to use the pool after 7p.m.
Evening meal was not up to the expectd standard
quality of equipement, material sound from pool
Very pleasant receptionist, quirky decor, nice pool Poor breakfast, hotel needs renovating, breakfast room extension ruins view from main hotel
We enjoyed the atmosphere of the hotel. The helpfulness, friendliness and warmth of the staff are second to none.
Friendly, quirky hotel. Some people may not like it, but many people go back year after year. Good location with excellent views of Mahon harbour. Steeped in naval history, reputedly with it's own ghost of Admiral Lord Collingwood.
It's a very welcoming hotel and the staff are helpful and friendly. The pool area is good, and it's relaxing. The hotel is mid-way between Mahon and Calas Fons, so either a short walk or bus at the end of the drive to either place.
The building and location as we had a sea view - staff were also excellent and very helpful, most able to speak english.Ease of coastal walking and proximity to Es Castell/Mahon The food in the restaurant left alot to be desired and was not appetizing the menu needs to be overhauled
This is a lovely historical hotel with a long and interesting connection to Port Mahon's history (and the novels of Patrick O'Brian). We recommend it enthusiastically for the warm and charming staff, tennis court, pool, view of the harbor and quiet but convenient location.
The position of the hotel, the staff and plenty of relaxing by the pool, walking into Mahon or Calas Fons.
Relaxed, friendly and helpful traditional family run hotel suited to older generation couples, and well sited base for Menorca exploration. Interesting historical connections to Great Britains Napoleonic wars occupation of the island. Aircon would be a benefit in summer.
Breakfast poor - Youth Hostal standard. No availability of tea, coffee, drinks etc between 10.00am & 12 noon or between 3.00 & 5pm.Hotel run more like a boarding house than a hotel catering for internationall clients. Hotel is a museum to AdmiralsNelson/Collingwood. Furniture old & dowdy.Suggest sell artifacts and invest money in upgrading.Could be an upmarket boutique hotel in the right hands.
The hotel felt very comfortable and they made you feel very welcome but with no stuffiness. Overall excellent. Nothing
The rooms are very clean and modern. The air conditioning works well and the complimentary soaps etc in the bathroom were much appreciated. There is also a fridge in the room which was useful. The bedrooms are very good but the public areas are small and very poor. We had arranged to meet friends in the hotel bar for a drink. Very uninviting and looked as if it was shut. We asked for wine. No wine. We asked for Gin (which is made in Mahon!!) No gin. There is only one member of staff working there who appears to work all day and all night! Very friendly but did not give a very professional feel to the hotel. Breakfast was uninspiring and pretty poor. It is a shame this hotel has spend so much money doing the bedrooms which are lovely and have totally overlooked the public areas.
Staff were very friendly, room was very modern and very clean, good location too No outside parking, however, free carpark only 2min walk
Quality of the room facilities. New, stylish and innovative room facilities set it apart from other hotels. Locals working on building project at 0530
The friendliness of staff (excellent!), the tranquillity although the central location, very good value for money Maybe try to secure a couple of parking positions for the hotel customers (although difficult at that area)
The receptionist was very sympathetic and helpful. The room was clean and of excellent quality.
Nothing at all except the opoor manager who was overworked to a standstill !!!!!! Disliked everything. No bar, no restaurant, no wi fi, rubbish breakfast. Hated it hated it hated it !!!!!
Stayed for a week over Christmas, quiet, friendly, comfortable. Great coffee at breakfast, but the food could have been better.
Staff very friendly although we struggled to communicate with my little Spanish and her little English. Room was very comfortable and quiet. Hotel was very close to main shopping centre/bars/restaurants. Would definately stay there again.
A small well presented hotel with friendly helpful staff a few minutes walk from the centre of Mahon. Ideal city centre location.
