10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gil is awesome! He goes out of his way to ensure you have a great stay. He helped with things to do and places to eat. We had a room with a balcony for our 3 night stay and sat there each night drinking wine with an amazing view of the Rhein river and Katz castle. Beds were comfortable and despite no ac we got nice breezes from the river. My wife rates Gil's coffee the best she has ever had. In fact she wishes she had ask for the brand. The 3 nights here was the start of our two weeks vacation and it was our favorite part of our trip in no small part due to Gil and the Rhein Hotel.
Cons: The only minor complaint is the hotel is on a busy road. We really didn't hear much of the train noise but due to the unusually high temperatures we had our windows open and consequently heard much of the street traffic noise. Gotta say though it didn't bother my wife one bit as she sleeps with ear plugs and I am a light sleeper.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location - our room looked out over the Rhine. Friendly, helpful staff. Safe storage for bicycle. Breakfast room light & so pleasant looking out over Rhine.
9.5 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Such a great location. Right by the RD Rhine cruises. Lovely room overlooking the Rhine. Fantastic breakfast, and we liked and used the honesty bar for a bottle wine. Thanks Gil. We will return.
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent

Cons: Nothing. It fully met our requirements.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good service and breakfast! Help full stuff. Thank you!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Hotel is close to resturants.
Cons: The little town in which the hotel is situated is on the decline, quite a few shops and hotels are closed and stand vacant. Our room was at the back of the hotel and you can hear everything going on in the neighbours apartment and they are very loud and carry on until past midnight. The other room where our children slept, faced the alley next to the hotel and it was very noisy also until well after midnight. The hotel is situated accross the road from the Rhine river so the front rooms have a great river view but the road in front of the hotel is a main road along the Rhine valley and is quite busy and noisy, even at night.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location right on the river and close to all amenities. Parking also very close.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean, nice breakfast, perfect view.
Cons: There is no one to help for the luggages and since the rooms are on the first or second floor and no lift, this is a problem that should be considered.

Pros: Where should I start... Have to say that service and the people at the guest house was best I have seen ever - and we have a lot of travel experience. They really give their best for every guests. Really nice people! House was at the best location in the town. Room was nice and clean - they keep rooms in a really good shape. We get very good value for money and we definitely come back there next time we visit in Germany again! Ps. You should try wine tasting - It was great!
Cons: Everything exceeded my expectations!

Pros: The hotel staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. A welcome pack was provided with lots of information about the area including some great places to eat. We were able to book a river cruise at reception which also gave us a discounted price. The room was spacious and very clean. Breakfast was delicious with a great selection to choose from and attentive staff. Overall the atmosphere was very relaxed. We would be very happy to return to this hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Was made some fresh scrambled eggs and bacon, which was delicious with crusty rolls. Also Sebastian, the owner, knows how to treat travellers. He has good people skills and was extremely helpful during my stay. He stayed on when I was due to arrive an hour later after check-in deadline. Also, when I made a mistake with the booking Sebastian adjusted the price accordingly. When here they would just have said: ‘Your fault pal’. It was a pleasure to be back in Germany, which is one of my favourite countries in Europe.
Cons: Nothing.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Owner was very patient when knowing we arrived a little after the check-in time. He offered some room options according to our need. Room is very comfortable, quiet, very spacious in the suite with basic kitchen where we cooked. Breakfast is not normally amazing but extraordinarily nice. Hot eggs & sausages, smoked salmon, lots of cheese and cold cuts, fruits and breads etc. Parking is right in front of the property for free, ask the owner when you arrive.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: So we stayed here as a couple and also took a separate smaller room for my mother. Our mini-apartment was really fantastic, separate from the main area, we had lovely facilities, even a living room! We had a very good nights sleep. The smaller room for my mother was perfect for her needs and clean and neat. We also enjoyed being able to look at the fantastic view up to the nearby Schloss (Castle). Although we didn't venture on a walk, there was a very nice looking one that coincided with the property. The breakfast we had included with our room was also great, lots of delectable choices :)
Cons: My Mother was unfortunate in that the other guests in her part of the GasteHaus had a bit of a party together out on the porch and didn't think of other guests being affected by their slamming doors etc, but thankfully that ended eventually. And that isn't the fault of the GasteHaus itself!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Quiet place, nice room good clean bathroom.excellent breakfast. The owners could not be nicer
Cons: WiFi is to be honest very poor, slow and intermittent.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Hosts. Facilities.

Pros: Warm welcome and friendly hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. Room was furnished to a high standard, spacious and very clean. We had a comfortable stay that exceeded our expectations. Breakfast was plenty, tasty and always came with a little chat about the plans for the day with little suggestions from the hosts. The location is quiet with stunning views and just a short walk from St Goar. We will definitely come back!

Pros: Had a great stay at Alter Posthof. Staff were very friendly and spoke excellent English! The room was big for one person, quite and had a new bathroom. Location is in the middle of town only a few hundred meters from the main road. A nice surprise was that they had closed storage for motorcycles and bikes. Pros: Excellent Location. Clean comfortable rooms. Friendly staff
7.5 Good
Pros: The locations was great, I loved the patio outside our room and the food was very good.
Cons: There was no air conditioning and I did not find a gym. One waitress in the dining room was not friendly until we wanted to pay for the bill and she realized we were not just dining there, but staying at the hotel. Suddenly, her attitude changed demonstrably.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful castle, fantastic views, very friendly staff
Cons: Our room got very hot in the afternoon and didn’t cool down at nighttime. A fan would have been nice... other than that everything was perfect!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location!!
Cons: Nothing
5.5 Okay
Pros: Great location looking over the Rhine.
Cons: Staff were extremely rude. In particular the woman who greeted us at the Restaurant. We asked her if there was any availability for a table for two. She yelled at us ‘no!no! Not tonight we are fully booked’. Never before have I been spoken to like I was a child. After I explained we were staying there she aggressively said she had a table at 8pm. That hardly means you are fully booked. while I accept we could have booked earlier I fail to understand why check in staff didn’t not inform us of the restaurant reservation situation. There are no other places to eat at within a practical walking distance so I am not sure where these ‘thinkers’ thought we were going to eat. After being screamed at we decided we would dine elsewhere. A professional establishment would typically have handle this situation by saying politely ‘ I am sorry but we are full booked right now but if you would like to sit at the bar or come back at 8 we can provide a table for you’. In addition to the rudeness the pillows were in short supply and too soft. The rooms were not air conditioned. This isn’t acceptable for a room in that price range.
7.0 Good
Pros: The food was great. Dinner and the breakfast was in great quality.
Cons: The quality of the restaurant is very good. However I would not suggest visiting here in the high season. The kitchen was extremely busy and could get plates in reasonable time. We needed to wait an hour to get our desert after the main dishes.
7.0 Good
Pros: The best things about this hotel were the location, the amazing views, the food was excellent and the staff were very professional and so friendly.
Cons: I understand not having air conditioning in an old castle, but in 40 degree heat without even ceiling fans or electric plug in fans it was unbearable. We were not able to finish our anniversary meal because I felt so faint from heat exhaustion, instead we took the champagne bucket to the room and used the iced water with cloths to try to cool down. Unfortunately our room was full of spiders and as I have a fear of spiders this made for an extra uncomfortable night in the castle. I waited years for the opportunity to stay in this castle, but sadly was disappointed and left early the next day.

Cons: Communication
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Extremely helpful staff! When we arrived we were presented with a large bowl of fruit and as many bottles of water we required. Lovely guesthouse with bar and restaurant but sadly they were closed on the day we stayed ( Tuesday) There was no problem though as we were given a lift down into the centre to eat - and we were collected! The guesthouse is up the hill just outside St Goar. Excellent breakfast.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good overnight stop on the rhine route
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff spoke English and were very accommodating to our requests. The restaurant served a delicious Rump Steak with mushroom sauce that was outstanding!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were comfortable and clean, with a good German breakfast.
Cons: The location is a bit hard to find, and we arrived to find the door locked and a note for us to call the proprietors in order to be let in. Consequently, we had to activate our cell phone on the day of arrival, since we were not using it on a daily basis. We had to communicate with the proprietors in German because they did not speak English. Confusing pattern of various stairways led us to our second-floor rooms. We knew in advance that the restaurand was closed.

Pros: Location and view
Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: Wonderful, helpful staff. Breakfast was good, location a bit noisy.
Cons: No lift, spiders in room from the eves, no bread at breakfast.
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast buffet. Fabulous. Big private car park. Keys to use the door at night and early morning. Small, but neat bathroom. Everything in it. Bottle of water in the room, and pod coffee machine. A dyson room cooler! Crikey! Thats expensive!
Cons: Single occupancy room; a very large bed in small room, left it feeling cramped. I would not like to take it if my husband had been with me. River view? Poetic licence on words. Yes, you do see the river, after the immediate and full viee of a construction of buildings, then over the camp site and to the side. I think its fair "River view" gives a client an expectation of a front facing room. The little mat was stained and appears shoddy. Spoilt the newness of the furniture. The large bottles of hand and hair & body wash werent just empty, but were completely dry. That's just poor house keeping. The loo seat needs tightening, as its very loose.

Pros: Location wasn't quite as hoped for - not right by the river and with a very busy railway line very close which creates a lot of noise.

Pros: The Charme of it all
Cons: Room temperature. But when we asked for a fan the provided one without any trouble

Pros: Smallish room in cute hotel. Family run. Great steak dinner in restaurant. Great base to see surrounding area.
Cons: Small room (although they did offer to move us).

Pros: We've stayed in 1 bedroom apartment, that is located in villa 2 km away from the hotel itself. It was great! - kitchen with all the appliances, dining area - very nice balcony with great view on the river
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Amazing authentic atmosphere, very cute room, amazing food!!!! Also a lot of little details to make the stay very nice like, nice paintings, a speaker which you can connect via Bluetooth, cute baskets, cushions. Dinner was absolutely great with a lovely atmosphere and very well done food!
Cons: The only thing I would improve would be the bed linens (a bit old so had lots of spools, which you can feel a lot when laying down) and slippers (if you ask for them, you get almost a paper one)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We liked everything about this hotel and its staff. The comfort was delightfully traditional and pleasing. The food was excellent, evening meals were of a very high standard and in good surroundings with lots of atmosphere.
Cons: Nothing could have been better.

Pros: The owners were friendly and welcoming. The location of the guesthouse was central and charming. Facilities met our expectations
Cons: Our room shared a wall with a local Bar/Kneipe that was having some form of celebration. After a long drive, we settled on a small town for the location of our overnight stay based on the fact that these towns are more quiet and charming. Unfortunately the music from next door meant for a less relaxing stay for my wife and 3 month old daughter.

Cons: Liked everything
5.5 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was good, staff member drove us to the train station at no cost.
Cons: No elevator, simple, bland furniture. Noisy trains (no double-glazed windows). Clearly too expensive for what they offer. Should have been ~$70/night, not $110!

Cons: No AC during summer. Lots of stairs. Smoke from people smoking on their balconies comes into your room and hallway. Front desk not as accommodating.
7.0 Good
Pros: The view from the balcony is Amazing and the closeness to the river, Therz an evening strolling path and all the boat jetties are only at walkable distance. The host was very helpful.
Cons: The checkin time is only until 18.00 Hrs. Also there was a punchent smell as you enter the hotel , feels like you are entering a hospital ( may be the cleaning liquid) Overall the town looked very sleepy and the people didnt look so friendly while roaming in nearby places and also in the boats that we boarded
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything, we have stayed here for several years now and the hotel is the best in St Goar, the buffet breakfast is just wonderful. The view from the balcony is more than worth the little extra money.
Cons: NO NEGATIVES!!!

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean hotel. Food was fresh and good, well presented. The waiter was very helpful. The quiet area and the lovely view of the garden at the back of the hotel
Cons: The front of house person. When we checked in, she seemed to be in a rush, not really trying to slow down to make us understand where our room was when it was clear to her that our German was limited. We had to go back and ask her about the timings for dinner, breakfast and swimming pool. We never had a smile, just frowns, nor did she volunteer anything in English. She just spoke very rapidly in German. Used to the German hospitality, we were really taken aback with this attitude. A great shame as the place is in a quiet area.
7.5 Good
Pros: pleasant hotel .We were surprised how how early they stopped serving dinner
Cons: card didn't work on the hotels card machine, visa debit card not accepted so had to go to the cash machine

Pros: Beautiful views of the river. Very quiet.
Cons: No a/c in our room. We were assigned a room downstairs, nice breeze though.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The pleasant and courteous greeting at check-in. We were expected, made to feel welcome and everything was ready - a very efficient process. In the restaurant, Michael Turner made excellent suggestions for the wines to accompany our meal. So good in fact that we bought some bottles from the Lorenz wine shop to bring home with us! Our 'Rhine view' room was excellnt with spectacular views across the river and the terrace for pre-dinner drinks was just perfect. We couldn't have asked for any more and I would happily recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a place to stay with great views, lovely food and drink and very helpful and pleasant staff!
Cons: Nothing at all comes to mind.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very pet-friendly property, good location close to nature with great view over the Rhine river, great home-made jams for breakfast
Cons: Breakfast could be more extensive (options were a bit limited and were not always replaced when they ran out)

Cons: Temperature control was centrally located and could not be changed in our room.
6.3 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good. Staff was helpful.
Cons: Disappointed that the price your site had us pay was ridiculous given the price they were charging at check in. This hotel was very good at half the price. Not good given the high price we paid for the two rooms we had.

7.0 Good
Pros: It is a short drive out of Sankt Goar, has plenty of parking, & is right next to the river
Cons: Our room had dead bugs (flies and moths) all over and many more live ones in the bathroom. There were also cobwebs on the ceilings. The food is fine as long as you don’t have any dietary restrictions. Then there is very little to eat.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: We have stayed here before. There is ample parking and some rooms have good views of the Rhine and the Lorelei. Breakfast is good , there is no lift, but there is an access at first floor level accessible by ramp or car. Food in the restaurant is fine and there are other hotels nearby if you want a change of bar!
7.0 Good
Pros: river view and friendly staff
Cons: very loud train right next to hotel
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located 1 km south of the port at St. Goar, so one should expect to walk (or a taxi ride) if one wants to include shopping and downtown. My wife and I took a taxi to the castle for 10 Euros. We planned to hike the Rhineburgweg, and it was a great jumping-off point for our adventure, with a feeder trail just 100m from the hotel. The hotel name, Loreley-Blick, is accurate. You are just across the river from the rock. Breaktast had a wide variety. The staff spoke English and were very helpful.
Cons: Each place had just one pillow. I asked for an iron but there was not one available at the hotel. This is a good walk from downtown St. Goar, so if you are planning to do a lot of stuff downtown--or at the castle, which is on the other side of town--it may be worthwhile to pay more and stay close to the city center.

Pros: For us the location was great, the staff was super friendly and accommodating and the facilities were clean. Breakfast was delicious.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable, clean, friendly. Excellent views over the Rhine and of the mountains on the far side.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is located at the bord of the Rhine river and the rooms offer a great view to the Rhine. Kestert is situated in the middle of the Rhine valley, ideal start point for trips. There is a bar downstars, so drinking a beer or orange juice is easy.
Cons: There is a bar downstairs and it is pretty loud on Friday and Saturday evenings. Otherwise, during week time, it gets silent around 10pm. The walls are paperthin, so one can hear clearly what happens in the neighbourhood.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room faces the Rhein River, which is good. But the traffic noise is really bad.
