9.6 Excellent
Pros: It is a very nice little guesthouse. Tidy, renovated with comfortable facilities. Very nice location, right next to the blue church.
Cons: You can pretty much hear the steps and louder noises from the neighboring rooms. However, if you have ok neighbors there should not be any problem. We were lucky for sure.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location in the center of town. Rainbow road right outside door leading to a cute church. Hiking trails close by.

Pros: Beautiful room in a recently renovated property. Stunning lakeside views from the private balcony. Plenty of space and very comfy bed. Immaculately clean and very well presented. Nice big shower area. Very peaceful just off the main town area, stunning views. Great local restaurants a very short walk away, in this beautiful part of Iceland. Highly recommend

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The owners of the house are an old couple, they are very nice and hospitable. The house is extremely warm and well-equipped, with a big living room, a kitchen where you can cook by yourselves, and a specially decorated canteen. It makes us feel like staying at home. The kid enjoyed feeding the small animals on the farm, and played the piano with her favourite melody there.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The lady who owns this place is a gem, the home made breakfast was delicious , especially the blackberry jam, she helped us plan on eastern part of the Iceland, Probably the only reason I will visit eastern part of Iceland to stay here
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We liked the approach of the host family. They are very friendly, helpful and communicative with good sense of humour. It was pleasure to meet them. I don't need to mention the quality of accommodation as it was absolutely perfect. One of our best overnight stays ever.
Cons: There is absolutely nothing to mention here. All was perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners and staff are absolutely wonderful people! Took time to join us for breakfast and to tell us about their farm and their country. We followed this up horse riding at their facility which was really nice. This experience was one of the great memories we will take home from Iceland. Rooms are good. Beds are very comfortable. Its worth the short drive off Route 1 to stay here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very clean and cozy. The location is perfect. The staff is super helpful and nice. We get everything what we could wish. I definitely advice them. Plus they are pet friend which is very important to us. Thanks a lot again that was a pleasure to us be with you :)
Cons: I can not say anything bad
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The accommodation is perfectly located to get to know an Icelandic farm with the family and to start hiking in the surrounding area. The owners Doddy and Thea offer excursions with Icelandic horses, suitable for beginners as well as advanced riders. The stories of Doddy and Thea about Icelandic legends are particularly beautiful and interesting.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The owner was very very helpful and both of them were very welcoming. He, 69 years old, even played a piano for us to entertain us! He prepared a breakfast for us at 06:30, it was very nice of him. He let me fly my drone over his farm over horses and ships.
Cons: Horses smell which is very natural if you chose a guest house in horses stable.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great welcome, tidy room and bathroom, comfortable throughout. Good to meet and talk to host who provided helpful infirmation.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and comfortable place, good breakfast. Hosts very attentive, they explained us many things about lifestyle in Iceland, its history and they gave us several recommendations.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Hosts have been very helpful. Shared big kitchen has eveything . It is very recomendable place for a horse ride. Farm ambience make an extra
Cons: We stayed in the inner room with no views, maybe we book the one left but this should be cheaper than the other ones,

Pros: The position is perfect. You can see the ferry outside the window.
Cons: The room is small, but the shared kitchen is ok. It's a choice for whom need to cook.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bed was comfortable, everything is walking distance, staff is very nice. The views in the room I stood in was also awesome.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good location, easy to find Great view facing port. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice and clean room. Common toilets are clean with hand towels. Clean and well equipped kitchen . Will recommend friends to stay there.
Cons: Nil.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The spacious and pleasant kitchen was excellent. a nice oven. It was perfect, even the cooking area and the good coffee machine. The facility was clean.
Cons: There was no soundproof.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The kitchen was well equipped compared to our previous experiences. The other guests during our stay were very friendly creating a great atmosphere in the communal area. Everything was clean and functional.
Cons: The 'marble' stairway is treacherous! This is a shoes-off property which is not an issue, but climbing the stairs in socks is a disaster waiting to happen. I would suggest non-slip tape or similar is required.
6.7 Good
Pros: Its quite location in a small town. Hostel owner waited for us when we arrived at 11pm. Great bathroom amenities!
Cons: Never drive at night through the mountain pass to this hotel. It was a scary experience with the thick fog with only 5m of visibility.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the location and the facilities. Nice big kitchen and the free laundry was a major bonus as we were travelling for 3 weeks! If you are taking the ferry, the location is perfect. And a short walk to the town, grocery store, pool, and pharmacy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's good place to stay in Seydisfjordur with great view! Kitchen is perfect with all kinds of stuff, those are brand new and easy to use! It's my pleasure to stay in Post-Hostel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Post Hostel was lovely. It certainly helped that it was in Seydisfjordur, which is just a really lovely town. The property is right near the water, just outside the main part of town. The kitchen was clean and has one of those drink machines for coffees and hot chocolates (I defo took advantage of the hot chocolate feature). We stayed in a twin room, which was a nice size. Beds were comfy, and the bathroom/shower was just across the hall. We were staying in Seydisfjordur just for a night while we made our way north to Myvatn, but I would've stayed longer in a heartbeat.
Cons: Uh...the spiral staircase could be a bit treacherous? Also the shower had two shower heads in one stall, which isn't a complaint just kind of odd...
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hafaldan HI hostel old hospital building in Seydisfjordur, you'll be a 5-minute walk from Seydisfjordur Harbour and 8 minutes by foot from Skaftfell - Center for Visual Art. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I got to Seyðisfjörður by car quite late in the afternoon. I looked for accommodation and I was lucky enough to book the last room here. I liked the pictures, score, location, and price, so I booked without hesitation. I was not disappointed! It was very neat and clean. I loved the furniture on the ground floor (namely, in the big and long corridor that goes from the reception to the stairs). Bathrooms were well equipped, comfortable, and clean! The common area on the ground floor is lovely. The staff was friendly and gave me some good advice on hiking trails nearby. Needless to say, I loved the price. I wish I could stay in more accommodations like this one during my trip.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was a lovely quirky accommodation. Kitchen and Laundry facilities were great, easy walking around town, check-in easy, had everything we needed.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very nice communal space. Friendly staff. Very nice hostel
10.0 Excellent
Pros: They were really helpful regarding check in, this is actually a good hostel people leave stuff in the fridge for other travelers, good environment.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: - There was sauna! - The building is really beautiful - The staff was really helpful
Cons: - Since the house is old and wooden, the walls are quite thin
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I was quite impressed by this hostel's amenities (it even has a sauna!). The staff is very friendly and the rooms are well attended to and clean. Bed was comfy and the room was large. It was once a hospital and some parts of the hotel remind you of such, but never did I feel uncomfortable, as it has been decorated to be as welcoming and warm as possible. The common areas are a bit busy so the hostel feels quite alive. Despite this, they were generally quite clean as well and guests were respectful of such common areas. Parking is also quite easy.
Cons: Nothing to point out.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Since I arrived earlier than check-in time, I needed to wait until facilities got cleaned, but they did it quickly and allowed me to be in a room earlier. Two outstanding fatalities - a large kitchen where multiple people can cook at the same time and a sauna at the basement level which was opened until late evening. I had a bed in a dormitory - it was a nice experience to share the room with others. One of the hosts (a young French lady) helped me find someone who can give me a ride to Egilsstaðir. Actually, I found one! Friendly/family atmosphere will give you a little break if you are traveling alone.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Really enjoyed staying here, wish we could have stayed longer. Beautiful building, full of history, yet clean and very comfortable. Highlight for me is that I am a nurse, and we ended up in the 'nurses' room!!
Hótel Aldan - Seydisfjordur - Building
6
9.1 Excellent (309 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hótel Aldan in Seydisfjordur, you'll be a 1-minute walk from Seydisfjordur Harbour and 7 minutes by foot from Skaftfell - Center for Visual Art. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good furnished. We were there to get married and enjoyed the stay quite a lot
Cons: Breakfast can have more varieties
7.7 Good
Pros: Beautiful, picturesque little town at the head of a fjord, and without the Hotel Aldan, it would be a lesser place. They've been creative in taking old buildings and converting them into lodging and restaurant (which was perhaps the best feature with some excellent dining).
Cons: The place needs updating, seems rather worn. The wireless internet hardly worked most of the time. When the Costa Fortuna cruise ship docked and disgorged its thousands, it looked like a scene from The Walking Dead: zombie-like people aimlessly standing and strolling outside the hotel with the goal of connecting to its unrestricted wifi. For those of us who were paying guests, that degraded our access.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was super friendly. The room was lovely and they added extra bed for our child upon request. Great breakfast.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The restaurant is very good and the staff exceptionally friendly. We had a very nice stay here.
Cons: It was not a problem for us, but there is no elevator in the building we stayed in.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: fantastic rooms in the OLD BANK building. Highly recommended by me! Loved that place and we had a great time there.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location, beautiful town, very close to pubs and restaurants. The drive over mountains to get the fjord was so beautiful.
Cons: Had a view of an old van.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our room was located in the old bank building. The room was spacious and comfortable. Many original features and furnishings had been retained which enhanced the overall stay. Breakfast was at the restaurant - another building but close by. Must try the Iceland porridge - v. tasty. Dinner at the restaurant was excellent - fish.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location at the fjord was spectacular, breakfast was great with lovely local and fresh ingredients, lovely historic room in the Old Bank.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very spacious and comfortable room with nice decoration. Amazing location in a beautiful village . Recommended.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: no-cost upgrade to a large, fully-equipped apartment; great location with excellent views of the fjord and mountains; lots of parking; close to grocery store
Cons: breakfast buffet was mediocre; no one was shoveling snow anywhere on the property; got overcharged 1200 ISK at dinner

7.1 Good
Pros: we cook for ourselves it was written that the stove cooks fast and we need to take care but they didn't say that the refrigerator freezes the vegetables!!! wich is bad taking into consideration the prices of the vegetables in Iceland!!!!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The view from the lobby window!!!!! So beautiful to have those mountain views and in the morning with just a little fog. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and alot of room by the lounge/dining area. Wish we bought some groceries to cook dinner since they had a nice kitchen and there weren't any restaurants open after 9 pm when we got there.
Cons: The shower drain was clogged maybe so the water kind of overflowed throughout the bathroom.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: A very friendly host, she helped us with all the questions. The room was nice and clean, the kitchen was equipped with every necessary things
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice big room, and with bathroom (not sceduled). Fantastic wiew to fjord and mountains. Big hospitality. We got much interesting information about the village from our hostess. Wonderful breakfast.
Cons: It seems that all(?) the guests get rooms not In the guesthouse itself, where only breakfast is served, but In a building nearby, a former warehouse. Nice rooms, but with few guests it seemed very big and even a bit spooky! Perhaps the pictures on booking.com should be changed, so that you better know what you will get.

Located in Seydisfjordur, Hafaldan HI Hostel - Harbour building is within a 5-minute drive of Seydisfjordur Harbour and Skaftfell - Center for Visual Art. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cosy place, clean, great location, everything you need
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Nice small hostel with a good view and spacious eating and sitting area. Enough furniture in the room so that you don't have to put your staff on your bag or on the floor as in most hostels. A reading lamp, storage and electricity socket by every bed (bunk bed). Lot of had room on the lower bunk bed floor. Big warm blanket.
Cons: If you don't like to walk (or drive) then the services (eating etc) might seem far away.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Really nice and cozy humble place. Good music on. Self check in.
Cons: My 4 people bedroom didn't had a key. No lockers.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything except the toilet paper. The host was absolutely wonderful. Super cosy, clean and comfortable. Super easy check in and super affordable. Alot for the buck I will recommend this place to everybody looking for a accommodation in Seyðisfjörður.
Cons: The only thing I can say anything negative about, is the toilet paper. I've never understood why someone would offer people to clean him/her self with small hand wipes. Please add a option to use a paper roll instead of small paper towels.

Cons: It was raining and to have breakfast we had to get out and reach the place couple of minutes away. All was good. Thanks.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast, the location close to the ferry is excellent, and the view from the hotel room is great.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Room was tiny , like staying in a closet with a bed. No room to walk around let alone put anything away. Had to keep luggage in car. Bed and pillows covered in dust. Staff was unfriendly and not helpful.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location for ferry; beautiful old-style buildings; nice lounge area on landing with views from window; good heating which was adjustable; helpful and flexible staff.
Cons: The entrance door to the hotel block was sticking a little; other guests didn't pull it closed hard enough to close it properly so it kept blowing open in the wind, letting in the cold and the breeze. An annoying little thing, but could be easily fixed. Also, there's not much to do in Seydisfjordur, especially in winter!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the room with stunning views, coffee making facilities close to everything. Frida was wonderful giving us a ride to the bistro to check in + buy dinner.
Cons: Having to leave a day early as there was a storm coming & the ferry was leaving a day & half early sadly. We did have a problem with a leak from upstairs but that was being attended to once we left.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very cosy and full of character, the room looked out onto the water. Despite the horrendous weather (torrential rain throughout the stay) we had a lovely time. The restaurant, Nordic, was also very good - highly recommend.
Cons: Fyi - reception isn’t at the hotel, it’s at the Nordic restaurant.
