Outside rooms large and decorated tastefully. Quiet location. The quality of food was below average, also no fresh produce and menu much too expensive with even supplements for cheese and a meat course. Cleanliness.
Comfort of the room No other amenities nearby
nice room, comfy bed. The Owner (a young gentleman) was very friendly and came to say goodbye at 8am as we were leaving. He spoke excellent English which we were grateful for and after our earlier experience (see negative comments). He was very helpful and checked us out. We didnt use any facilities as it was just an overnight stay. We didnt eat at the hotel. dinner was 38 euros each (a bit expensive for us!). If we had met the gentleman first, our experience would have been much better. He was very friendly! The lady who checked us in was unfriendly and didnt speak english. She was unhappy for us to leave our car full of wine and champagne (we were on way home to uk next day) in front of the chateau and asked us to move it to the back of a building and next to an open field (not secure). We refused and explained about security. She was not happy but we were allowed to leave it there eventually. Courban is what i would describe as a ghost town.No shops/bars and was rather depressing. Wish we had stayed elsewhere for our last night in france as there are lovely towns and villages not far away! if we had read the reviews on a well known trip advice website we wouldnt have booked this hotel but of course we are all different and you might like it!
style and comfort of the chateau......ambience......facilities.....friendly staff. limited evening menu and too expensive for the quality of food provided.
The hotel was an oasis of calm at the end of a long day's drive. The staff were courteous and helpful, the room comfortable and the dinner excellent. It was difficult to find even though the village is small. Signing is not clear and we had to ask a local for directions.
Pleasant location in a charming village. Good restaurant in old mill building. Clean modern room but showing a little wear. Staff were very helpful.
Peace and quiet, good food and a comfortable bed although next time I would specify twin beds. Felt a bit insecure having to have the bedroom/terrace door open to get fresh air having had two incidents in the South of France where with a similar situation we have had intruders. A window would be welcome.
The rooms are very cosy and comfortable. The restaurant is pretty good and they are very welcoming to my dog that is always with me. They have two beautiful fireplaces and they never seem to light them.
location was interesting - water wheel a nice feature. In the stream by the water wheel, large fish and crayfish could be seen. Great selection of spirits and champagne. Food was terrific and a good value breakfast as well. Rooms, clean, large and relaxing One of our party did not like the menu or the food - finding it a bit poncy and not to her liking at all! so be aware, if you are looking for a traditional restaurant, there may not be something you like on the menu. However, the rest of us thought it was great!
Lovely location and a pleasant ambience. Food was good and the wine was excellnt value. We would stay there again.
Hotel staff very helpful & friendly & a good ambience.
Good price, good kitchen, good wine selection to acceptable price, friendly and helpful personnel.
glass of champagne on terrace overlooking river. hotel felt a bit unloved
The staff was very pleasant and the restaurant there was excellent There was only one other place to eat in the village a buffet at an amusement park
helpful staff, nice location, very clean, excellent food and restaurant. bar closed early
Superb simple old French Hotel with owner manager in village in middle of active Champagne "terroir" with well above average value for money.Staff made evening meal for us as special favour since we did not want to drive out to meal with restaurant closed on Sunday. Must be aware that restaurant is closed on Sunday and Monday nights and alternative dining is minimum 10 miles away. .
Fabulous room, clean, practical but special. Child-friendly & relaxing. Manager was very welcoming & helpful.
Elegantly designed, warm welcome, fabulous champagne and excellent restaurant.
I liked the quiet location and unique character of the village it was in. I booked the parking but there were only spaces for 4 cars, and I was asked to "double park" blocking two cars in. Sure enough the next day I was asked to go and move my car.
Set in a small farming hamlet with vineyards nearby and a beautiful gothic church next door. Quiet rural Champagne at its best within easy driving distance of beautiful countryside, wine tasting and other villages.Quintessentially French. Helpful staff wiuth a some English. You might feel cut off if you don not speak a little bit of basic French
The location, building and room were excellent. Ideal spot to tour the champagne region and would visit it again. Took advantage of the car park which is totally secure but expensive. Stayed on a Sunday so had to use a nearby restaurant as the hotel restaurant isn't open on that day.
The staff at the hotel were extremely helpful and friendly and made our stay very enjoyable. We found the quality and standard of the rooms, restaurant and service faultless and would have no hesitation in staying at Le Marius again.
Authenticity, good food, superb wine and good services in an unbelievably clean hotel. This is where my heart beats stronger. This is the very heart of France. This place is perfect and I've seen many around the world...
This is an excellent small hotel/restaurant. The quality of both accommodation and food felt very good value. We lacked the French language skills to engage fully, but the helpfulness of manager and staff made us feel really welcome.
Lovely room - secure parking (10 euros extra) - Restuarant looked wonderful! Internet booking website gave no indication that the restuarant would be closed! We booked the hotel because we wanted to eat in the cellar restuarant and wander upstairs to our room after a drink in the bar!
Excellent Hotel staff and facilities The hotel is alongside Nigloland theme park and being a Pirate themed hotel is orientated towards young children no problem but not the place for peace and tranquilty. The restaurant is good but no choice of pricing,it's 28 euros inclusive of everything..Wine water etc.If you want to stuff yourself fine ,but there should be an alternative. The english speaking chef Joseline was a godsend and extremley helpfull
The Hotel was clean, well presented, & the staff were very obliging, the pirate theme was interesting, & although I thought the number of children present would be intrusive, they were not, a very pleasing stay ! No !
The staff and the style of the hotel - excellent for adults and children Rooms too noisy
Friendly staff and very clean hotel. The hotel does not serve bar food, therefore all meals needed to be ordered and eaten in the resturant which could prove expensive and time consuming.
The Rooms were very spacious with 2 souble beds , seperate toilet and bath/shower rooms. buffet dinner was great, with local wine for set price.
The atmosphere and the staff helpfullness
The room etc was well presented & very clean. ideal for young families.OK For overnight stay but fair distance from autoroute. Buffet style dinner exspensive @ 32 euros each John King uk
nice, clean, quite room. In boat style, cool for kids.
Hydromassage shower Check-out until 10 am after which time additional charge of € 20, breakfast was dire regional, some dry bread, coffee, orange juice, and something unspecified in bowls. Staff does not know completely the English defeat
Not a lot Rather shabby but ok
nice bathroom and reasonable breakfast. Noise from a swimming pool filter all night. Too quiet, almost austere - decoration a bit tired
The hotel was a convenient spot for our return drive to the UK It was souless. They insisted on charging 9 euros for breakfast and not the confirmed price for the booking of 8euros. We didn't have time to argue.......not for 2 euros! But the principle is not good.
