Very helpful staff. Cozy. Beds not so comfy.
The welcome was very friendly and the location was perfect. We also loved their dog, Timmy - who was not by the way, allowed in the hotel itself. Parking was advertised as "On site", this is not correct - the only parking was in the road.
Hospitality of the staff Bad work of the shower
perfect and comfortable room. within walking distance to city center. free parking just in front of the hotel.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is a short distance from the town centre.
Very warm welcome from the owner who took the time to tell us about the city as it was our first visit. Very good breakfast.
easy to find and close to A10 route , good choice as a overnight stop , clean and comfortable enough for one night , convenient , but do not expect luxury
Nothing really, but after an 8 hour drive anywhere would have been ok. The room was not at all welcoming, the carpet was stained, the bathroom was a caravan type pod where you had to hold the shower head rather than stand under it. It was very noisy when anyone left or arrived in a nearby room in the early hours. The whole place would be best described as scruffy and basic.
It's good as a stop for those who travel by car. There is free parking and you can get by car to the city center in 10-15 min. You get what you pay. W-fi was only in the main building
Hotel personnel were very polite, helpful and friendly. They were always ready to help or answer questions. The room is too small, especially shower and WC part.
simple but great after 12h driving
It was very clean, well designed, comfortable and the staff were very welcoming. We were surprised to see it has just one star, but the fact it has no lift may account for that.
The rooms where spacious, modern and immaculate. A short walk to a huge host of restaurants and attractions.
The hotel is perfectly situated between the cathedral and the old town of Tours. It has recently be renovated and satisfies all the needs of a 3* hotel, it is really worthed more stars. The perfect place to stay and staff was very helpfull.
stayed in the larger room. new, clean. good value and worth the few dollars more for the bigger room. good breakfast. internet available.
This is a very nice small hotel (although it cost the same as the Grand Hotel Poitiers which is in a different class). The man on reception was very helpful although he spoke rather rapidly which made directions rather hard to follow. Tour has an 'interesting' one way system which could cause the driver and map reader to become somewhat stressed.
Great location, great decor and lovely bed. Better than pretty well every 2 star hotel we stayed in during our 2 week trip. Should definitely be more than one star. ... no lift, but no big deal.
The location, the room and first of all the kindness of the managers everything was very good
The hotel is within walking distance of the train station, a huge plus! On your way you pass the Tourist Bureau for Tours, France, so you can get info before you even get to the hotel. Lovely staff; who were very helpful in booking a first-rate truly fabulous well-known local restaurant for dinner (La Ruche, which means The Beehive). Breakfast was very nice; I recommend that future guests do have the 7.5 euro breakfast. it was really great, no complaints at all.
The managers were very friendly and the room exceeded our expectations
It was located within easy reach of the old city but close enough to the modern are that walking into each area was quick
Clean, good location, wifi only in lobby and it closed early evening
No facility for storing soap & shampoo in the shower. Toilet seat wrong size therefore constantly moved around.
Clean, always good to be able to say that, comfortable, good value for money, convenient location for town centre, helpful staff.
Best price offered ever matching perfectly for all backpackers! Not actually, but, we expect if the hotel'd provide guests more facilities as well as something's like the bathroom stuffs, that would be better!
Tours! Great Location, Breakfast pretty good value and decent offering, Once you accept the basics the room and the amenities facilities etc. are fair. Housekeeping in Tours was good and efficient. Parking was good too and the Five Euros spent for the basement was well spent. On arrival we found that one of our rooms was not booked even though I had received the conformation e mail just that day. The young lady in reception could not find the third room booking, but she was very helpful. a room was given for the night at Mercure whose receptionist was seriously in need of some friendly training. She was grumpy and rude and we think she just had a bad day for which our friends were the victims a Receptionist later in the day Some telephone system on each floor even since it is not possible in rooms. In case you have an emergency there is nothing in your hotel after the receptionist leaves, no telephone no connection no nothing. windows! It was seriously hot int he rooms and we could do nothing to open the window which only opened two inches or so. I know that the railway tracks make lots of noise which is why you must have two double glazed windows, but if only this can be opened a bit to get in more ventilation.
Very comfortable hotel with friendly staff
Close to the station Unkind staff
The access to WI-FI is only at the reception but not at the rooms. The noise from TGV is "something"...
Hotel Moderne is a conveniently located, budget hotel in the center of Tours close to the railroad station, the tourist office, and many different restaurants. It is an older hotel with a certain charm. There is good cable TV with French and international channels. The staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are small, but adequate. Bathroom facilities are somewhat cramped, but the shower space was adequate, and the water pressure good. There is no elevator in the hotel. The WI-FI was not used.
The location was ideal. The staff were friendly and the price was right. Tours is a lovely city for walking and the hotel was in a perfect location for "new town" shopping and "old town" dining. Parking was convenient and easy. Breakfast offering could have had at least one protien choice such as yogurt.
The friendly atmosphere and location for transport and sightseeing. It is also quiet throughout the night.
Friendly staff. The hotel has a cat. Cosy feel. Lacks an elevator, bad idea if you're travelling with lots of luggage. The water heaters are turned off at night, forget about showers before sleeping. Not enough electric outlets. Bad internet connection which frequently disconnects. No "do not disturb" signs. On the last day, I was forced to check-out at 8 am in the morning for some reason.
Beautiful Hotel, close to the city center, Friendly staff, loved the coffee machine they had really good coffee and it was a great price.
The location, comfort (clean and ventilated as we asked) and price. Nothing.
Excellent location within walking distance to old town, shopping, rue colbert (restaurants).
The location is excellent, parking at 7 Eur/day is nerby
Position in Tours excellent, Very helpful staff, Very clean and well presented throughout.
I liked the beautifull interior of the breakfast room. It was terribly noisy at night outside of the hotel. We couldn't sleep at all!
I found it very comfortable and welcoming. Beautifully appointed room and the hotel felt very 'French' to me. I have already recommended it to friends in Bordeaux! Thank you!
Central, very convenient, nice atmosphere. Side street room noisy at night
Ideally located. The manager who moved us to rear of hotel after complaining about noise in front room. The situation of the front room initially given to us. We had to be moved to rear of hotel because of noise from bar/cafe strip below hotel which made it impossible to sleep
it's the best two-star hotel I have stayed in in France
Good location and stylish decor. Rooms and corridoors noisy. You can hear other people using toilet/shower. Impersonal, small and poky.
Location, location, location no
Its location very close to the center of the old city Air conditioner did not work well. In summer it is O.K. but in winter I am afraid.....
Very friendly staff, clean and comfortable, excellent value for money there was a drinks vending machine in foyer, possibly could do with a coffee and snack vending machine
Easily accessible by car
It was fine for a short stop in transit.
The most important thing were the kindness of the staff and the cleanliness of the establisment. Very impressed the location is a little bit out of town
easy acces, good attitude of hotel staff no
As already indicated: friendly staff, good supply of towels, satellite TV including sport Noise from main road when window opened on account of heat
The restaurant had a widw selection of foods although the menu was in french, but could of had an english translation.
Convenient location, adequate facilities and pleasant staff Poor quality room, Although bedding clean, the general state of the fixtures and fittings inc carpets was very poor. Stained carpet. Broken picture with glass a safety hazard.
No smoking rooms are completely seperate from smoking rooms Bit tired - no tea or coffee making facilities in room or foyer
The staff were very helpful in accessing the hotel wifi It was being refurbished so was noisy and dusty
Central location, on-site private garage parking, very helpful and friendly staff, modern and clean room. Not much room in the bathroom.
It was in a good position from the town, the staff were very helpful, the breakfast were good.We stayed twice at the hotel.
The room was basic, but very clean, comfortable, and had a great balcony. It was also very quiet. It was in a good location, within walking distance of the train station and fun areas of the town. We did not realize that it is actually closed from 12:30 pm-5:00 pm so there was no way to drop off our luggage.
The staff were very friendly.
The staff had made a lot of effort to allow us access to the hotel even though we arrived long after the reception closed On the other hand at the price we paid we expected a hotel that had 24 hour reception and at least a kettle in the room. This was a very overpriced budget hotel and although the staff were helpful we were very disappointed with the standard of accomodation which did not reflect the price charged
Clean. Friendly staff. Great breakfast. Central location. No
The staff were very approachable, friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was very good as well. The location was excellent for finding it coming in from the motorway.
l The only downside of this hotel is the parking, which is a tight squeeze. Street parking can difficult at certain times of the day.
Stayed one night and can fully recommend. The room was very quiet and tidy, bathroom (and the room itself) was spacious compared to any other 2 star hotel I've stayed in, and the reception was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent.
The breakfast was delicious with lots of options and friendly service.
Perfect location, lovely helpful staff, comfortable room for one or two night stay, good breakfast, the best kind of really French small hotel. You need to be a confident driver to park your car!
Good hotel, very central. Comfortable beds and excellent breakfast, albeit rather pricey. Bathroom has only hand held shower and very narrow tub. Parking extremely difficult.
Yes, the floorboards from the rooms above us made incredible noise - no good when trying to get to sleep, no hot water one morning, staff could only say this isn't normal and didn't attempt to fix. Kettles not provided but limited amount available to borrow. Lastly parking limited and very squashed.
The hotel is quite small and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The Patron even speaks English! Breakfast is excellent. We had no problems at all despite the external refurbishment work. We would stay there again soon but they are solidly booked for the coming month.
very good location, very clean. Good value for money. Nothing
Great breakfast, comfortable bed, safety Very hard to find
There was nothing that overall impressed me I was not happy with my stay at all. I was not happy with the staff and also the facilities. The room smelt and the hotel was very tacky. I also had to pay more than I was quoted online.
Reception Staff Poor Would not allow us to eat in the Restaraunt even though it was not full
Very confortable bed and clean room. Big bathroom. Hot water all the time. A big super market, a restaurant and gas station in the nearby. Wireless internet in the rooms. No nasty smells. Good value for money. No air conditionig if I remember correctly, but was no need because of nice weather. The window was not open completely beacause of tv, but sufficient. No hair drier.
Hotel staff extremely helpfull and friendly Disturbance of guests going in and out of room next door
nothing rooms smells cigarrete, shower place don't fit any human being.
Our limited french, the staff were very helpful in trying to speak english. No hairdriers.
Very friendly stuff. Close to the airport (15 min walking). Close to huge shopping centre. Buffalo Grill just few step from the hotel. Clean. Perfect price. Local bus stop is close to the hotel. Hotel is far from the city center. Only can be used for airport over night stay or shopping in the huge shopping area arround. but, remember, on sundays any of shoppings in France is closed. So, this area arround of the hotel is scary empty on sundays - you'll need to go to the center of Tours to have any of activity (it's not so bad, because local buses do the right job)
Just stopping overnight on a journey south. Good location for what is a fairly basic hotel. But it was totally adequate, other than a lack of secure parking.
Efficency at arrival & information of nearby eateries Breakfast expensive for what was provided
Good value Small but value related
Had an excellent stay; friendly staff; excellent breakfast No canal plus
The central location of the hotel
I felt the whole experience was positive and the staff pleasantly unobstrusive . Dearth of english language tv.
The wifi connection was very poor for the price paid
Free upgrade to a superior room (very large and spacious!)! We assumed that since we booked through Booking.com that we would get one of the few rooms that have not been re-done - but when we checked in, the courteous staff informed us that we had been upgraded to a superior room - which turned out to be the largest room in the hotel - quite nice! For 77,20 euros, we stayed in an excellent room, with a booking that included the 12 euros per person breakfast - excellent! Slight difficulty parking...the hotel is in the same square as the train station, and being a busy city, the parking for the station was full. We ended up parking in another structure about a 8 minute walk from the hotel - same price as advertised though (8 euros for 24 hours).
The location and friendly, helpful nature of the staff. Not a thing.
Nice hotel, convienient location city centre parking, TGV station, good food, nice staff - Internet WiFi did not work, (we were working, so important) otherwise excelent The WiFi, should have worked - they could fix that. Otherwise it was the best.
Very central location, being only meters from the train station. No
the staff were very helpful in all respects. a bigger business centre and a gym would have been nice!
The hotel has a great location! Very close to tgv station, and to the center of the city. The bedroom is big and confortable. The bathroom is very clean. Love it! The staff was not very helpful with our difficult to park our car ( $e 10/day), and it was hard to comunicate in english.
Excellent location - close to the city center and the railway. Very comfortable room. Excellent value for money Internet services way too expensive for nowadays (when such services should already be like TV or radio).
The chef special evening meal was excellent value, and tasted good as well. The staff in the resturant were also very friendly and attentive.
It's situated just in front of the train station.
great central location, very clean rooms and bathrooms, good size! overall very pleasant. the water pressure kept alternating in the shower.
Excellent location, right near the main railway station, and a very modern, comfortable room. The breakfast was over-priced and we only ate there once.
The location is great, right by Hotel the Ville Room was a little too small, though comfortable
Location - more or less in City centre nothing
Location is good and easy to find. Compared to big city's hotel is cheap. Both the night shift and morning shift staff are not really nice and friendly, that is Dec 22nd night and Dec 23th morning. Room is not really designed for 3 people stay, they just added an small bed at the conrner.
easy access, parking, security, quiet no internet access, no laundry, bar ran out of beer.
Location Glad it was for only one night. The room was dull and smelly. There was mould growing up the walls!!!
staffs are very kind, clean room no refrigerator, no hairdrier
I liked the confort, price, location, and off course - the great breakfast. It was what i expected. The location from Garmin GPS was confusing. The number and the name aren`t easy to see from avenue refered.
Free parking, easy access from the road. Very thin walls.
the hospitality from the staff and different languages spoken by them
It was easy to find. We have only very basic french skills and it was good that the staff were able to speak basic english - and much appreciated. I was surprised and disappointed to find no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. At this price in the UK this is standard. I also tried to access the wifi using the information provided by staff but could get no access at all. I didn't try to follow this up due to language.
Clean and comfortable room for the four of us. A bit hard to find. We only stayed as a overnight stop.
Very goog breakfast. Shower tap jammed and hard to open / close.
The staff were very friendly and helpfull The notes stated it was 10 minutes from Tours City Centre. which it is but only by Taxi or car, which it does not state. I think this should be made clearer. it's a good 45mins to an hour walk.
easy to get to from A10; food available on site; menu in English was same prices as in French (another chain it wasn't!) should have been advised to book a table for the evening meal
Had a comfortable overnight stay on our way home to the UK. It had every facility we needed. Will use again
Friendly approachable staff most of whom spoke English, easy parking, restaurant, good sized room, complimentary tray, WIFI,close to the motorway and some shops, and for me personally it is close to Trousseau hospital. I would prefer to pay for WIFI and have a secure site but this is a minor detail.I always choose to stay in a Campanile hotel if possible when I am in France as I like Campanile very much.
Leaving was the best bit. It was over-priced and offered nothing. The room was small, cramped and airless, smokers frequenting balcony outside rooms made non-smoking rooms a joke. Noisy. Fan in bathroom didn't work.
Staff were excellent - polite and helpful at all times. Room was basic but clean and good for a one night stay. Location good because easy to find so it meant we could continue with our onward journey the next dauy with ease. Hotel is also close enough to go into Tours City centre for an evening meal.
It was an adequate hotel to suit our purpose. We were on the way to Calais from Spain and it's a great stop off. Very easy access from the motorway. Not the kind of hotel you'd spend any time in but simple and clean. Literally only used the room, we ate out as didn't really fancy the restaurant in the foyer.
The room was basic but clean and was perfect for a 1 night stopover. It did have the facility to make coffee or tea in your room, which was nice. Wifi worked perfectly in the room and the carpark is secured by a gate which closes at midnight. No extra charge for parking your car. Easy access from the motorway. The restaurant was closed for dinner but this was not a problem because the neighbouring Campanile restaurant was open which is a 2 minute walk.
Friendly reception staff willing to translate anything in English, decent breakfast buffet. A pleasant surprise for a 2-star hotel. The "how to use the internet" instructions in the room were plain wrong (and seemed to be for a different hotel/chain?); the restaurant served a daily menu dinner choice with two options, but the regular menus were still on the tables, resulting in a bit of false advertising.
Staff was very helpful and the room was clean. We had a car so we could travel easily into Tours and into the Valley to visit the castles. Without a car, some research would be required to figure out transportation into downtown Tours.
The hotel was modern, with some touches of design elements. The room was rather small, but served us well for one night. The hotel is convenient for guest traveling by car and offers free parking. The breakfast was a little too basic, but was presented very delicatly.
all of it, the view, the owners, the room the service the location and the quiet delightful pool. well initially the small limited menu all based on a salad style. But the salads are their speciality and are big bold and very satisfying in terms of differing content of say meat or fish
The loction was good for us/ as we planned to go outside Tours. The Room and the hotel were very pleasant. It is a new hotel, but there is no lift. It was very hard for us to get to the room with all our laggage!!! We were really disappointed....
helpfulness of staff under stressfull circumstances on outward journey to UK better choice of menu for both evening meals and breakfast and the possibility of being in englisThis is just a personal opinion.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Relatively close to airport but some distance to the centre of town. My room was rather run-down, the bathroom superficially clean.
Our stay was an over night stop on our way to another town. We were very well looked after and used Hotel Italia on our return journey. Knowing we were to return to the same hotel was reassuring. We were very tired but knew that our second over night stay would help us to relax. No
We used it as an over night stop but it would be perfect for a longer stay visiting the Tours and the Loire area. It is a little gem - a bit 70's decor but 'retro' is cool, no? A very friendly, helpful proprietor giving a warm welcome. Generous comfortable sized bedrooms and bathrooms. Free wifi internet. Located in a quiet area and free parking. We walked to the old centre of Tours - about 30 minutes brisk walk which may be too much for those less fit. So just use your car and park in a car park. All in all a pleasant place to stay and everything that a modern chain hotel is not.
Hotel Italia is a charming, well-run hotel, the owners are delightful and helpful in every way. The hotel is situated in quiet location away from the centre but with easy access to it. Excellent in every way!
Excellent value for money.Good breakfast.
It was a modest hotel with friendly and helpful staff, parking was easy and it was not too far from the centre The building was a bit noisy
The off-road parking attracted us to this hotel and this proved very useful, but... ...one night we got back late to find no car parking spaces left at all. It seemed as though the car park was being used by non-residents or there are insufficient spaces so be aware.
Fair size room, Bathroom bigger than at home! The couple running the Hotel were excellent, above and beyond our requirements, resarched internet for us to resolve a problem. We would stay here again. Minor problem, Curtains didn't meet when fully closed, we clipped them together with a keyring, The shower was only hand held ( couldn't be fastened to the wall ) so not ideal.
Size of the room was good. Quiet location. Nice restaurant (Gianni) nearby.
