8.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was very nice and the men in our group enjoyed the "full English".My friend and I were too full after meals previous evenings to do it full justice. The owner allowed us to use his fridge/freezer for our own personal use., and provided nibble and afternoon tea if required.
Cons: The owner had no time to service the room ie make bed, change towels and no door on bathroom. I would have like a proper wardrobe rather than a few hooks behind the door,
1.0 Poor
Pros: Bedroom nice cosy ,comfy bed, lovely view garden, interesting house lots to look at...convienent distance for our reason for being there.. relaxing atmosphere...
Cons: All good
10.0 Excellent

Pros: The setting was absolutely beautiful and the room was lovely. The hosts couldn’t have been more welcoming. Highly recommended!!
Cons: Nothing to dislike!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Jolyon was a fantastic host day and night. He made us feel very welcome. We had free roam of the house which was so lovely as usually you are banished to a wing of a property. He was always asking us if we wanted a drink, he cooked the most amazing breakfasts every day using local ingredients and he was always cheery and smiley. We had a mutual love for gin it transpires so we had a super time watching Nadal and Federer in the semi finals with a glass or 2. The setting is just beautiful. The grounds well maintained and if you get a chance, watch Jolyon feeding his 22 ducks every morning. It’s absolutely wonderful to watch. There are also 3 gorgeous little dogs who give you a welcoming lick every time they saw you. The house is set in the heart of the countryside, allowing for peaceful mornings and evenings. The rooms were gorgeous too. We will definitely visit again. Thank you so much again jolyon and Lawrence. Lucy and James xx
10.0 Excellent

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Charming house set in beautiful grounds. Attentive hosts and very good breakfast
Cons: Very surprised that the rooms were not serviced despite the charge rate. Although the room was beautifully furnished and the bed extremely comfortable, did not feel comfortable with the layout having no door between the bathroom/toilet and the bedroom.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Prawns tasted out of this world . Place has an edgyness I like
Cons: A little noise late at night
9.6 Excellent
Pros: A large room with a supremely comfortable double bed. Usual appointments of TV, Tea/Coffee facilities with some homemade cookies to enjoy. Towels as big as a tent and softer than a puppy. The copper bath was more like a 2 person hot tub and the spoon and fork robe hooks added a nice little quirk to the decor, not forgetting the tree in the middle of the room!
Cons: The welcome by the host was polite and informative but on visiting the bar downstairs i found the staff to be disinterested and unorganized. Perhaps they were new? The evening meal was pleasant enough but beware the discretionary service tip of 10% added automatically. As a single diner having only a single course with a glass of wine, a bit of a cheek!

Pros: Large bar area and very friendly and helpful staff. The room was spacious. Lots of complimentary products in the room which was handy. I think the staff make this hotel they are all very polite helpful and genuinely care from the cleaners to the bar staff to the reception ladies. Beds were comfortable to sleep on too. Just aircon in such high temperature in the hotel would have made the stay pretty perfect.

Pros: Good value and inside our room was nice. Nice village and walk through the pub garden to Batemans. Had dinner elsewhere at Rose & Crown which was lovely as we wanted something a bit more special. Nice, ordinary cooked breakfast included at The Bear. Helpful staff.
Cons: Pub is currently being refurbished and motel exterior is tired. Was a 'pub pub' with football showing.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely village location with superb views. Rooms clean and comfortable. Well kept garden at the rear overlooking the unspoilt Burwash weald.
Cons: Quite a noisy bar at night. The main hotel seems to be going through a makeover which should make a big difference.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast and evening meal. Staff were very welcoming, friendly and attentive. The garden and it's views were amazing. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a private entrance. The village was quintessentially English and full of historical interest with it being the home of Rudyard Kipling. There were footpaths leading off from either side of the high street which opened out to far reaching views of the countryside.
Cons: Not a criticism at all but if I stayed again, I would definitely choose one of the four rooms which backed onto the garden, not solely for the uninterrupted views but for more privacy. Our room's patio doors had full length net curtains, necessary for privacy as the room faced side-on to the garden with people sitting at picnic tables close enough for them to look straight into our room. It seemed a shame to block out such a pleasant outlook. We did open the doors as it was hot and conversations could be very clearly heard in the garden which could prove a nuisance for someone looking for peace and quiet.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The view was beautiful, the place was charming and the staff were so friendly!! Good breakfast too.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast Excellent good choice and plentiful
Cons: Nothingcomfotable
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfy bedroom. Shower room very spacious
Cons: Pub very tired but having extensive renovations which will bring it up to a very good standard.
