The place The restaurant
Very pleasant grounds; helpful staff; good if rather expensive food; good lounges and furnishings in general areas and overall character. Well-stocked library. Interesting house and location with pleasing atmosphere. Room pokey, with the frequently-found snag of lack of horizontal surfaces! wld not have been very comfortable for a longer stay. No reading lamp to one bed making reading after the other person was asleep very difficult. A bit noisy due to close proximity of other rooms and creaky floors and wardrobes.
Very comfortable and a histyoric feel. no
Like they say themselves - it is like a small Parador :- )) Very small bed for 2 people (1,20 m Wide)
A beautiful hotel with great rooms and our reception could not have been bettered. The hotel is not easy to find and to get to it from Viveiro means travelling on some extremely narrow country roads.
Liked pool and beautiful gardens. Excellent dinner and breakfast. Rude uncommunicative receptionist compensated for by delightful other staff.
the location, the place, the people, the food
Beautiful Hotel. Grounds are lovely, very relaxing. Hotel is very difficult to find, also is quite remote, look to eat in the Hotel Restaurant if you stay there.
The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. Dinner was outstanding. Breakfast was excellent. A very good base for exploring this stunning area. Dinner was far too large!
hotel facilities were good, the room was clean ,view from room was poor good breakfast
Beautiful location - great for a summer break. Lovely warm pool. Good restaurant.
Used it as a base for looking around the area Position poor
Great hotel ! clean ,comfortable spacious room , great view from my window :) good food , friendly , cheerful and helpful staff . Top marks all round .
I like the areas around the hotel, swimmingpool, and the garden The food in the resturent should be improved a lot
very comfy, clean ,food good value for money, staff very friendly a bit hard to find could have better signs leaving viverio we used sat nav and it took us to some apartments with the same name but that could be our mistake so watch out for this.
Hotel in relaxing atmosphere and very close to my business meeting. Breakfast buffet was to poor. To less parking area. To poor sound insulation. Very difficult to find - no signs. The bed is to uncomfortable - to hard.
A bit of luxury during my tour of Spain. Lovely quiet position Just the town of Viveiro, very dissapointing for a tourist, only worth one day.
good quality modern hotel with excellent breakfast buffet
the staff were very helpful room, facilities and location great just note pool only open May-September even though indoor
The fist day of my stay the food was good, the shower in my room was good. the food deteriorated over the period of my stay to such an extent that I suffered from mild food poisoning on the second to last day. The shower pressure gradually weekend to a dribble. The room was never cleaned properly - the ash tray wasn't emptied.
The location was beautiful and the staff very friendly
Easy to find , fairly close to the main road, far enough away to be quiet. Partial view of the sea and nearby town. Easy walk to nice beach. Wifi available free, but not good recepion and rather slow. In early June there was lots of building work on the site and nearby, some noisy lorries early in the morning, car got very dusty.
As stated above - we booked this hotel because the im pression was given that there was a terrace resturant - there was not, also, the hotel had no local info, not even in spanish!
the pool, the apartment, the minigolf, the beach lack of dishwashing liquid, toaster and the fact that the heating came on even though it was nearly 30 degrees outside
Location of hotel close to a sandy beach. An attractive, supervised and covered swimming pool. All town facilities within a very pleasant walk along the sea front. Lovely views from hotel grounds. Very good Spanish breakfast. Rooms very clean with good facilities. An apartment block being constructed in hotel grounds. No food other than breakfast at the time of our stay in September.
Just an overnight stay , I was not told that there was a very large building site a-joining the Hotel working till 6pm that day, made it very dusty and unpleasent to look at, faced the front entrance of hotel. Also the dining room only opens July & August, only food for Dinner was a toasted sandwich. I was told I could go into town to eat, but as I am 68yrs of age and touring France & Spain on my own ,the idea of staying in Hotels was so I did not have to go out after dark. The bar area was also the snack bar area as well, and it did not help when the workmen came in after work to drink there, and the local men. You do not expect from a star rated hotel.
It was a very convenient first stop in Galicia; the view from the new building should be much improved and I would like to know when that building is finished and ready for occupancy.
As the hotel is in a fairly remote location the availabilty of a prix fixe dinner was a blessing and proved to be good quality and excellent value. Also a very good breakfast. Our room was in the roof so the sloping ceilings made movement around the room and bathroom a little difficult.
Although they spoke little English the owners of this family run hotel were excellent, helpful and very obliging. Even gave us a hand drawn map to make finding our way in and out of the area easier. The food was outstanding, perhaps the best we had in all of our two weeks in Northern Spain (and we did have very good food in a number of places). A homely atmosphere almost like staying at best friends house, they even showed us all the rooms and asked if we would like to choose which bedroom we wanted (a benefit of arriving early, but few hotels would be so obliging). Having to leave!
Calm and very well decorated, has beautiful surroundings (the Sargadelos ceramic factory and exposition and the Passeo dos Namorados are a must see), the food is excellent... most of all, the staff makes you fell just like in your home :-)
Beautiful house in an idyllic location. Interior of the house an absolute delight. Attentive owner with excellent recommendations about what to do. Clean warm ample sized room and bathroom. Great breakfast. Delightful.
Wonderful, calm location. Great hospitality and very good breakfasts.
Its a great and homely place. The owners were very welcoming and helpful. They do a very nice traditional drink ceremony in the evening. We didn't have dinner there but the owner offered us a piece of their flan after we got back from dinner and it was absolutely delicious. We regretted not having dinner there.
Fantastic setting and totally isolated. A large farmhouse beautifully restored with great attention to detail. Very difficult to find even with GPS.
Remote mountain retreat with wonderful views. A fantastic restoration of an old building, giving modern facilities. Directions on line easy to follow. Owner really friendly, speaks English, and able to direct us to beach featured in a picture book. Lovely fresh hot toast for breakfast. Had to drive to restaurant for dinner in evening - directed by owner - food and atmosphere great.
Very nice and accommodating host/owner of this very interesting Hotel. Refurbished farmhouse/building to a high standard, predominantly in eucalyptus wood with antique furniture. Fantastic place for walks/treks through the (you guessed it) eucalyptus woods. Somewhat isolated (you need a car) and not easy to find.
Beautiful and peaceful location. Property has been renovated to the highest standard.
Proprietor was very welcoming and extremely pleasant. Accommodation was of an exceptionally high standard of design and cleanliness. High quality evening meal was provided on request. Location somewhat remote.
Nice place near sea/beach...good location for visiting Rias Altas coast of Galicia...warm &w/good energies as we hear the waves at sea coast ...no AC at the attic room
we had a huge room with a large terrace.
situation on the seaside and serenity nothing:everything was perfect!
Closeness to beach. Good paths along the sea front for walking. 10 minutes drive to Foz.. Clean decent sized rooms. Breakfast was good. We found the price paid good value for money. Allowed dogs and no extra charge. Small portable fridge in the room if you required, however when plugged in, it was really noisy and stopped you from using it when trying to sleep.
The Casa Conors deserves to be a success, based on our experince. The service was exquisite both in the restaurant and in the reception area. The food was excellent value for money and displayed a love of N. Spanish cuisine. The bedroom was a little cold.
Beautiful location, away from the hi-rises and Cranes of Foz. we had a confirmed rate of Euro 85.60 but on check-out we were charged Euro 102.70. They had put us into a suite which we did not asked for.
Beds which can be reclined. Its a Spa resort with a indoor pool. Free internet. It is not easy to locate. Road name not easily found. Coordinates on GPS is not accurate. Situated up among the farm area. Staff at counter does not speak English.
An excellent choice, friendly and helpful staff, breakfast and diners were superb. A pity that this delightful place is surrounded by empty new builds. One could hear the noise from the adjoining bathrooms.....
Diner is good, rooms are nice, quiet location Rooms are very noisy. You can here everything, foodsteps, tv, talking, etc. Didn't get any sleep.
Short walk to quiet beaches and easy driving access to larger resorts or nice countryside. Comfortable and spotlessly clean room.
It was an facility and an amazing location. The rooms were well kept, clean, romantic, spacious, and gorgeous. The restaurant was amazing...the staff made you feel like one of the family. Rent a bike and ride the coast line, they will lend them to you free of charge! NOTHING!
We were lucky enough to have the family room which, quite honestly, is the best room we've ever stayed in, and we do like our hotels to be good. It was spacious with quality fittings. Our children loved having their own space on the mezzanine floor, it was like their own room. The staff were incredibly friendly and put on a wonderful breakfast. We were the only guests in the hotel at the time (out of season) and were trusted with the whole place to ourselves, so we used the lounge to watch our own dvds. The grounds were beautiful, neat, and very Spanish - surrounded by wonderful Bonsai trees. The nearby beaches are stunning. I quite honestly can't rate this place highly enough and would most certainly stay there again ++++++++++++++++
friendly staff and excellent food. A few minutes from the beach and semi-rural setting Not really rural now - it is surrounded by hundreds of new-build bungalows and holiday homes. In August everywhere - restaurants, beaches, are bursting with tourists - unbelievable!
We had the place to ourselves - literally overnight. Lovely old house, beautifully converted and decorated with no expense spared. Very friendly and helpful staff (owner's son?) who advised us on where to eat. Actually his advice was not great; he advised against a local restaurant - one of only two open, which turned out to be excellent. Bit creepy having the whole place to ourselves but when there are a few guests there (and restaurant open) the atmosphere will be great.
Loved the ethos of the place and the friendliness and flexibilty of the staff. We liked the values that underpin Casa do Merlo: the honour bar, the can-do approach, the love of good food, the desire to make the stay as nice as possible in a relaxing way.
