Pros: The location is close to restraunts and shopping. It is quite a walk from the train station. Take a cab.
Cons: The electricity and plumbing are old and don't work well. It was extremely hot and too loud to sleep with the window open. They said we couldn't turn on the air conditioning and didn't offer a fan. We were up all night hearing the people above us. The complimentary breakfast gave us food poisoning.
Pros: Mario the business owner was beyond friendly, efficient and informative.
Breakfasts were feasts of hot and cold food well beyond the usual continental breakfast. An elevator was also a welcome surprise in this old palazzo.

Cons: don't get assigned to room101 because you will be up at 5:30 while they are in the process of preparing your breakfast. the clients should be a little more careful when leaving the rooms door slamming can be irritating
Pros: Convenient to all the major sights and restaurants within easy walking distance. We walked too and from the train station...although easier to go to the station than initially to the hotel. You will have to carry bags up the rampart on going, but all down hill on departure.
The hotel staff was most helpful, made several dinner reservations and we were always greeted with a smile and good day.
The morning breakfast was delicious and a great way to start the day of sightseeing with a hearty breakfast.
Cons: Nothing and I would book once again during future visits to Lucca.
