Friendly accommodating informative staff
I'm accustomed to continental breakfast including hard boiled eggs. there was a lot of starch and sugar. only banana and apple for fruit.
The rude staff.
The room was average and clean
The continental breakfast was sketchy, the cereal was stale and the yogurt was expired not to mention the moldy oranges in the fruit basket. We only ate the breakfast 1 out of the 4 days we were there due to how gross it was.
Friendly staff , very helpful
The room had a very strange odor, sink would not drain
The owners are super-sweet, but their wi-fi doesn't work unless you're sitting in the lobby. And their 'breakfast' consisted of old fruit. In their defense, there was cereal too, but it wasn't appealing after looking at the fruit. Ok for the price I guess.
Sort of a remote area but still very close to town
You can hear everyone coming and going. The bathtub had 2 inch black hairs all over it, found a dirty q-tip under the table, non smoking level hall smells like stale cigarette smoke (room did not thankfully)
The friendly people that run the desk were very accommodating. Knowledgeable about things to see and do in the area.
This hotel is not fancy but it serves the purpose for a good night sleep for the few nights that we were in town. The continental breakfast was sufficient for something quick in the morning. i.e, bagels, apples, juice. My only complaint would be that it is heavy on the carbs so it would be nice to have some protein added. The rooms were nice and clean enough. The smoke smell was a little strong in the hallway but otherwise, my stay was pleasant enough. Sarah at the front desk provided us with a lot of information about shopping and restaurants in the area. This was very much appreciated. She certainly enhanced our visiting experience with her pleasant attitude.
Somewhere between Colorado Springs and Canon City is a little wide spot along the road called Florence. I can't say much about Florence, other than it's between Colorado Springs and Canon City...so, if you have activities planned in both locations, this is a (fairly) happy medium. There aren't a lot of hotel choices ( it's Florence, after all) but if you want to be in an out of the way spot just down the road from an industrial area, surrounded by prarie and sage brush...this is your place. Call it a base camp without actually being a camp site. It's got walls, a roof, A/C, TV and indoor plumbing...it even has a version of a continental breakfast. So, if you're going to spend a lot of time going back and forth between Canon City and CO Springs, and actually DOING SOMETHING there, and NOT spending a lot of time at the hotel and just want a place to crash at the end of the day that doesn't cost a lot ( and remember that you get what you pay for...or don't get what you don't pay for) then give it a shot. At least you can say you heard the coyotes in the hills. Just don't wear white socks when walking on the carpet...and keep all foot wounds bandaged. Personally, if I had it to do over again...I'd stay in Canon City at one of the hotels with a pool and a nicer breakfast, and not worry about being centrally located between the two places.
We loved our stay except the maid forgot to touch our room! We didn't get clean linens or towels and didn't get coffee for our room for our second day.
Lobby was so smoky we would have left if it wasn't the only place in town. Room was fairly clean but the bed was original-motel is about 15 years old...pillows seemed that old as well. Requested additional pillows 2nd night...they were a little better. Even though room was non smoking, sheets smelled of smoke. Hall and lobby were smoke filled 24/7. Young housekeepers did a great job. Continental breakfast was minimal. Coffee pots and juice decanters weren't very clean. Rooms could use a major overhall. Super Max federal prison is just up the street.
