easy underground parking at no cost Unfriendly and unhelpful staff, very noisy rooms due to total lack of soundproofing, very basic breakfast
Location - castle of Tamplier very near (3 min) and this hotel just on Camino Santiago.
Service was good, location perfect and the parking was good. Front desk staff were very helpful in giving restaurant recommendations for dinner. Furnishings in the room were basic but in line with the price.
Excellent small hotel, plenty os cafe/restaurants in easy walking distance. Easy to find just follow the signs for the Templar castle and there it is No
Good location, close to the castle. Reasonably priced meals available.
Friendly and helpful staff. Good location.
El Castillo was located next to the Templar castle and near the Camino. It is located near the older part of Ponfarrada. Room was on the busy street side and noisy at night.
The location was ideal for exploring Ponferrada, and for escaping to the nearby countryside. The room was clean and comfortable with excellent soundproofing to the outside and a nice bathroom. Wifi worked fine. Lack of a minibar in the room. Breakfast was optional, but the hotel cafe didn't look very enticing.
My main criteria were hotel location and free wifi. Room facilities were also good. Nice outlook. Furnishings (curtains, art work..) perhaps a little outdated. Would have appreciated clearer information about room service
I liked the cleanliness. The staff were very helpful; Did not like the noisy location, or the fact that the room was too hot and there was no cooling; Did not like the noisy location, or the fact that the room was too hot and there was no cooling; the room was quite small; I would not call it superior
Pleasant staff, good location within the city and availability of supervised parking. No
Immediately on our arrival the reception staff made us feel very welcome and invited us to take from the free coffee/bar in the lounge. Minimalist design, with every facility. Very easy to find as it is well signposted in the town. Within 5 mins of the old town. Breakfast excellent. View from room good. Better than the AC in Gijon. Would definitely stay in AC again. Nothing.

Clean rooms, friendly staff, easy to find, delicious breakfast
The location was great. The room was unique and comfortable. The AC was adequate. The staff friendly and the breakfast regional and delicious.
Excellent staff (Language skills, efficiency, courtesy). Prime location for town exploration on foot. Well-furnished, modern and comfortable room, with balcony overlooking town hall square, v. pretty view (but also rather noisy some evenings!). Car parking in paying underground parking was very convenient, (forget about finding free outdoor parking!). WiFi worked. Breakfast choice OK, but breakfast room not so OK (cigarette butts still there from previous evening's restaurant activity!).
Everything was fine. Thé staff was very Nice and we slept very good. Would have like fresh croissants for breakfast!
Very comfortable room in a good location. Hotel Madrid has a good reputation. Very nice breakfast buffet too!
Excellent staff, good facilities for peregrinos doing the camino
Hotel staff. She helped us to find glasses which my boy forgot in restaurent in the city. The marriage ceremony until 2AM was too noisy.
The friendly staff, the location. Good value for money (special offer found on the internet).
Convenient as 5 mins walk fron the bus station . 15 mins from the old city and castle, looking out on to factories. Breakfast included in price wasn't up to much. All the locals were eating croissants and coffee in the bar
Good for sightseeing of Pontferrada for max. 1-2 days. Breakfast room rather small and crowded
A very pleasant hotel in an old building in the countryside with modern amenities and lots of character. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the the surroundings are very quiet.
Great service beautiful place good food romantic & fun
I liked the design and the effort done for every detail. Breakfast was poor with compare to other hotel.
Beautifully restored old village house. We had a lovely room with armchairs and views over the countryside. Owner very friendly. Good parking. Breakfast was very basic, toast and coffee, disappointing. Restaurant rather expensive, although food was good.
the location although a little hard to find was stunning. staff very helpful & welcoming. evening meal outstanding! out of the way for those that want night life as there is nothing else in the town but you do not need to go anywhere else!
very friendy and relaxed place to stay. family run hotel located in a small village close to mountains for walks and countryside but not far driving from main town for shops bars etc. excellent home made and local food. child friendy place. would recommend to anyone
The Hotel was first class. Fantastic location if you was peace and quiet. Superb food and great wine choice and stunning hotel in a very rural location. The room we had was First rate and great views If i had to say it would be its off the beaten track but that added to its charm in a very spanish village
Good reception, room clean and quiet.
The hotel is in the middle of the old town within 5 minutes walk of the castle, the main square and a couple of museums. For those who do not mind a stretch of the legs, it was an easy walk to the modern city centre with bus and rail connections. The hotel is also next to the clock tower which sounds loudly every quarter of an hour and even more loudly on the hour until 1am. This makes having a siesta impossible even with the windows closed. This was not the hotel's fault but if you want to have a nice relax, as I did, you might consider this.
location excellent room bit small, 1 member of staff on reception not very helpful or interested
Very central location in Ponferrada old town. Room was quite small for a family with 1 child, but fine for a one-night stop-over.
Staff was excellent Far from town, reception closed at night, it would have been nice if they told us so we could have taken the keys. Rooms too hot and stuffy upon arrival. A little shabby and run down.
communication was difficult
Staff was helpful Hotel was too far from town. Rooms were too hot and stuffy at arrival. A little run down for a 3-star hotel. Breakfast was too expensive for what was offered, no bread, little selection.
Location -3miles from anywhere. Unhelpful staff
The friendly staff in particular the bar and resturant staff who despite our language differences welcomed us warmly and gave us every assistance. It is perhaps unfortunate, but an english translation of the menu would be helpful to us, who do not have much knowledge of Spanish.
everything the food was incredibly good the staff were great the whole ambience was excellent.
The restaurant and the extremely helpful and pleasant staff
Room was clean. Conveniant access to A6. This is really a motel rather than a rustic hotel.
Easy to find and convenient for an overnight stop. Good restaurant. Depite its solid appearance, there was a lot of noise from adjoining rooms.
The waiter in the restaurant was first class Location of the hotel was not as expected, it was in an industrial area.
Comfortable room and quiet location No staff at the premises.
Very clean and comfortable A little quiet
position, cleanliness, facilities, because there were two hostals with the same name about one hundred metres apart caused some confusion on booking in
The indicated address is wrong - we had to drive around for an hour in order to find it.
The hostel is located on the highway not far from Ponferrada. Staff was nice. Bathroom and bedsheets were clean. Very good place for the price paid.
Typical motorway-type motel at service area. Despite proximity of road there was no intrusive traffic noise. A reasonable meal could be obtained on-site. Ideal as place to stay to break journey. No
Very very nice room. Nothing, despite the fact that the hotel is in the road
The "hotel" is really more of a truck stop than anything else, good if you are just stopping for a night after a long day of driving, but nothing else. There isn't really a front desk, only the bartender in the cafeteria. As the hotel is far from Ponferrada, I needed to get a cab into the city, which they were unwilling to call for me. There was no clock in the room, and it did not feel safe or secure at all.
Large, comfortable room with air conditioning. Good lighting for reading or studying a map in the evening. Reasonable meal available on site. Having to go up and down autopista to get to and from the hostal. Difficulty in finding out information about locality - nothing available on site.
