See hotel page Stphane Collet welcomes you to a former mountain hut turned elegant three-star hotel in the small mountain town of La Toussuire. Chalet-Hotel Le Beausoleil, The Originals Relais is warm and cosy at the heart of the Les Sybelles ski area at an altitude of 1750 metres. This is the ideal place to enjoy the mountains with a delicious restaurant and 19 rooms with a subtle Savoie decor. The spa is an opportunity to relax and recharge in a soothing spot.
Pros: Nice family hotel, modern and well equipped. Ideally located, you can go anywhere on foot. Good breakfast, with fresh pastries. Heating system for your ski boots.
Cons: It’s a passive building, which is great, but it can get very warm at night. If you don’t want to suffocate, you therefore need to open your window long in advance (don’t wait until the middle of the night, it’ll be too late). The fruit salad from a tin is a faux pas in an otherwise great breakfast buffet. Amex not accepted.
Pros: The location & views were spectacular, the hotel clean, the mother of the family run hotel was a joy, so welcoming, full of humour. The food at dinner was good but limited due to the end of season, the area was deserted, very quiet. I would have given a higher rating but the day we were there the spa & steam room was closed, i would have enjoyed an hour in there.
Cons: Everywhere was closed, felt like a ghost village high up in the clouds, if we went 2weeks earlier it would have been different, nowhere els to eat or have a coffee.
Pros: The bed was large and very comfortable, and the room had a small balcony (no space for chairs) with beautiful views. The warm and welcoming atmosphere derives from a family-run hotel where everyone is attentive and hospitable. There is a lift, which was very welcome after a couple of nights at more downmarket places. It is beautifully clean with an outdoor terrace to take advantage of any sun. Only downside was a rather tough and under-done steak at dinner. We chose the only set menu option, but most diners apparently opt for the house menu, which is basically Pot Luck. Can be a risk, but if you eat just about anything you will get whatever's local and in season. My other half doesn't like artichokes, so a big wedge of homemade quiche Lorraine was substituted instead, in spite of there being only four people staying (October being a quiet time between summer season and winter skiing). We loved our overnight stay, and would happily go back. I hesitated over the q. of how easy it is to access from the airport - it is a ski resort, after all, so no trains or public transport, thus you have to be prepared to drive on the right and to take steep routes through mountain passes. The rewards are great, but remember that the first snows can come as early as October so a 4x4 is a good idea.
Cons: That steak was tragic, but as this is a village with a tiny permanent population we know the chef will be having words with the butcher!
Pros: The family who run the hotel were really nice, didn’t speak much English but we managed to speak with our basic French!
Cons: Not ski in/out
Pros: Nice general location & breakfast. Nice Bathroom Manager was very helpful with our late check in Excellent parking Free WiFi worked ok
Cons: Bearing in mind the height of this Ski Resort hotel, was hoping for a better mountain view. Some seats on the balcony would have been nice. Resort was quite in mid June, so best to eat earlier in the day (As we did!) before driving up to resort.
