Pros: What a wonderful place to stay after a long day driving. This place is most certainly a little gem. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, the room lovely and the location was fabulous yet so close to the motorway. Breakfast was amazing and kept me going all day.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It’s charm and the wonderful hosts.
Cons: Having to leave.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful place. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. They made me feel like one of the family. Superb breakfast with home made yogurt, fruits from the garden and eggs from their own chickens.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful hosts and breakfast too.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Warm welcome to this small and delightful B&B which has one bedroom with adjoining children’s room. Simply charming and attentive couple who fed and watered us really well. Had dinner in their quaint dining area full of lots of interesting chabby chic pieces they had up cycled. A plentiful meal comprising mainly pastry-based dishes with home grown vegetables and lots of cheese! Breakfast was a veritable feast of their eggs, home made jams and yoghurt and a tart which was wrapped up for us to take away as we couldnt eat it all. Lovely comfortable seating area outside the room with well tended garden area. Comfy bed, a fridge with water and a wide selection of teas/coffee. Even a microwave!
Cons: The main ventilation/lighting to the bedroom was the French doors. Perfectly safe to leave open - otherwise would be hot - but could be a problem in inclement weather. The shower arrangement was a detached shower hand-held whilst taking a shower- a bit clumsy and difficult. Would benefit from a screen of some sort so the shower could be attached and one wouldn’t have to worry about drenching the bathroom.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The accommodation is very comfortable with all sorts of interesting and unusual features. The hosts are super and very willing to communicate although they have little English. Their food is wonderful, genuine family food, much of it from their own garden. The terrace is a lovely place to sit and relax. The nearby Marais Poitevin is well worth a tour - by car, bicycle or boat!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly owners, pretty house and garden, lovely small village and a great location for a stopover on our journey south. Optional evening meal was absolutely superb as a treat, the owner is a very talented cook. Lovely breakfast too.

Pros: The hosts were very friendly and helpful and even sent their daughter out to book a table for us at a local restaurant which they recommended and which was excellent. The room was stunning in a very beautiful town house in a quiet location. We had a very spacious room with a separate toilet and high quality towels. The breakfast was great with homemade jams and quince jelly and cake.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fresh food every morning from the local market, homemade jams . Beautiful decor and amazing owners!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: This accommodation in a wonderful 200 year old house in the centre of town was very comfortable. The room was spacious and tastefully furnished in a style appropriate to the property. The host was delightful and very happy to help in any way she could, including directing us to a wonderful restaurant. The breakfast was both delicious and plentiful. The bed was very comfortable. It was an easy journey from the motorway so very accessible. The town was historic and interesting so could be a good place for a longer stay. If staying in this area again I would have no hesitation in going back there.
Cons: There was no parking on site but ample free parking a short distance away. The property was in a narrow road so access by car to the front door was not easy. The en suite was very well appointed but could have been bigger. There was no kettle but there was a welcome drink - beer, wine, soft drink.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast excellent- appreciated more when we learned that the jams and fruit juice were home made by the charming owner.
Cons: A lounge area downstairs where we could sit with friends rather than in bedroom.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Two very charming owners who couldn't do enough to ensure our comfort. The house was very stylish with a lot of thought given to the decor. Our room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was wonderful, homemade cake, apple juice and preserves, scrumptious. Beaux Esprites is ideally situated in this very pretty town.

Pros: We‘ve been very friendly welcomed by the host and felt at home at once. The landlady has been very helpful with hints for eateries and sightseeing. The room was spacious, clean and cosy. To reach over an old stair. The garden of the house is a bijou: well-kept, nice lawn and colourful flowers, a big swimming pool and enough possibilities to sit and relax. The breakfast has been sumptuous and home made: We haven‘t missed anything. The house is old but in a good shape and tastefully furnished and decorated. WiFi is offered as well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This old townhouse is full of tasteful artistic touches to make you feel at home and special at the same time. The host is wonderful and made us feel right at home not just by offering the children homemade cake on arrival. The double bedroom is very spacious and wonderfully decorated with a lovely view of the square on one side and the beautiful garden in the other. The breakfast was magnificent with many homemade treats on a beautifully set table shared with the other guests. Following that we had a dip in the beautiful albeit slightly chilly pool.
Cons: It was al perfect

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The dinner was exquisite. It was delicious and so elegantly presented that it ranked among the best meals we have ever had. We arrived late on a rainy evening just in time for dinner but I can imagine that the room we had which opened onto the river would be just wonderful in warm weather.
Cons: I would have appreciated more good light in the bathroom. We were in room 8. Also a luggage rack would be nice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was beautiful: by the river with parking on site. The evening meal was excellent and exceeded all expectations - one of the best gourmet meals I have ever had anywhere in the world. The tableware was beautiful and there was a good ambience in the dining room. A porch outside the reception afforded a peaceful and sheltered spot to relax. I look forward to returning to this haven of peace and quiet.
Cons: Nothing. All was perfect.

Pros: Beautifully presented and delicious evening meal.
Cons: Very expensive for what amounts to tiny portions! I ordered a vegetarian main course of vegetables which consisted of 2x sprouts, 2 x asparagus , 1x turnip and a couple of green leaves for €14!!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very nice setting and excellent food - friendly staff and quite near the motorway
Cons: As an interior designer/architect I thought that the rooms would have benefited from being ‘a little more French’ in their design/furniture and fittings

Pros: Food quality was good , arrived late so had ordered cold plates that were great
Cons: It’s a tad dated
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The "feel" of the hotel was good blending character with modern design and facilities. Our room had a small terrace overlooking the pool and gardens. The outside spaces for eating and drinks were very good and the staff were very efficient and spoke English. The parking was good and very accessible for the hotel.
Cons: The restaurant, which is large, was very pleasant and served good food. All went well until two coachloads of tourists arrived and proceeded to fill the restaurant. It was then reminiscent of eating in a very noisy canteen and quite unpleasant.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Convenient location. Good restaurant
Cons: No spaces in restaurant, not advised to book a table when checking in. Despite dining very early Maitre d’ placed us on worst table in restaurant. On leaving after the meal half the tables still empty.

Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Dinner in the restaurant was good. Breakfast was by comparison rather mundane. The reception staff were very helpful and the restaurant staff made a good effort at dinner. Unfortunately the waitress accidentally dropped a caramel covered knife onto my white linen shirt. Whilst apologetic it might have been nice to fetch a damp cloth or even get the hotel to wash the shirt. Just a thought.

Pros: Fantastic place to stay away from the hustle and bustle. We arrived late on our bikes after a long day on the road to a fantastic welcome from our host, He organised an evening meal with quiche and salad which went down a treat with local wine on the patio. Afterwards we walked thru some of the vineyards,The pool was excellent and we spent most of our time on the sunbeds. Excellent self service breakfast set us up for another day on the bikes in the french countryside.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a charming property! Quiet and unassuming yet classy. We had a delightful overnight stay and the breakfast was delicious. We didn’t make use of the pool, but it looked very inviting in these sweltering temperatures of over 35 degrees. I would recommend this property unreservedly.
Cons: Nothing.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Nice looking building. No restaurant on site but excellent restaurant recommendation from the one member of staff
Cons: The hotel were recovering from a wedding party. There was furniture all over the place outside, they were still cleaning up from the wedding, only found one member of staff who appeared to also be the cleaner, receptionist and bar server. Outside furniture needs some TLC as the majority of it is broken. Advertised as having air con but not. Hair in complimentary shampoo dish. Also wanted to know if we wanted breakfast the following day - we like to decide late evening or in the morning but this was not an option. The pool also remained covered during our stay. No restaurant facilities so had to drive for evening meal - this needs to be made clearer on the booking.

Pros: Excellent place to stay even if the location is a little remote
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Very charming hosts. Very nice place, full of charm and old- day quirkiness, as if steppimhg into yesterday's world. Lots of nice objects to look at ,art, furniture. Place teeming with historyy. Comfort and cleanliness very satisfactory, lovely bedroom and big, nice bath, nice breakfast in a very nice room.
Cons: Location indication given was very unclear, we believed ithe place to be very close to the indicated city, not several kilometres away from it.We would not have been able to find it without the help from very helpful locals people and our GPS. We also expected, from the ad, a big place, like a hotel, with many guets and a professonal service, but instead we got apersonal place , the hostes' home! But this was in fact an unexpected asset and a plus.It turned out to be a success!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and welcoming
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A wonderful surprise to be welcomed by a lovely French hostess who was fifth generation in this gorgeous old house. The comfort was quaintly luxurious and we wanted for nothing. The breakfast was served exquisitely - silver jugs and coffee pot, home made jams and butter in silverware too. The luscious Vendee cake was an extra treat.
Cons: Some confusion over payment. The documentation said payment had been taken on reservation but we were expected by our hostess to pay cash on the day. Embarrassing for everyone!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a lovely old house with interesting features and decor run by very sweet elderly couple whose family have lived their for generations. We had a problem finding the house due to the booking.com instructions and especially the google data, so they drove into town an guided us to the house - real service!
Cons: Not for the first time we were led astray buy the route instructions. we were led to believe that the house was in Fontenay, but it was the small village of L'orbrie. Our Sat Nav did not recognise it and the google instructions failed. booking. com needs to improve!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location, property and bedroom quirky but wonderful. Owners similarly. Loved it. Would like to do it again.
Cons: All good.

5.6 Okay
Pros: Good value for money, very friendly staff, very relaxed. Restaurant was very good indeed (excellent food). Friendly bar.
Cons: The map on the website was wrong, (pointed to the wrong village!) so took ages to find the place. The room we booked a friend into on the second night was not made up when we got to it, still dirty sheets etc, so we had to help ourselves to a key for another room and just use that, as there was no one on reception. Thankfully the staff were pretty relaxed about it and didn't mind we had done that.
