Friendly reception, good restaurant. Less than perfect shower. Sadly the chef was ill for some of my stay.
bathroom clean, otherwise nothing The hotel was very shabby, the staff were rude, ignoring us. The chef was ill, so no dinner, no help to find alternative. The coffee machine did not work at breakfast and they charged the bar bill to the room, after paying on the night. We have a Best Great western near to us (Centurian, Midsomer Norton, Bath) and we expexted similar.
The internet is not exactly free, to use it you need to already have an account with Swisscom.
hotel closes at 23.00 no nightshift, bar was closed because of meeting.
The lady owner is very kind and helpful. We had 3 dinners at the Cicero restaurant. We also had 7 breakfasts. Always very good. However, except for snails and beers, we could not get any local food (nearly everything is "imported" from the Flemish part of Belgium, from butter, to low-fat yogurt).
Hotel comfortable, good location Having to walk outside to get to bar / dining room
Comfortable and quiet despite being on a regularly used road
nothig We booked the hotel specialy for grand prize of Namur (motocross world champion ship) , we are drivers. We could' t came frome the hotel in the morning (6 a.m) beacuse the door was close. we asked to open door we were refused, because this hotel is not night hotel. We have a good chance to loose the champinship start. We did not recieve any breakfast, because of we leave hotel early.
Closing time 23.00 is a little bit early
Comfortable room for overnight stay.
Like Charleroi itself the hotel has seen better days, but like Charleroi the friendliness of the people and staff make up for it. Very spacious rooms but the carpet has seen better days.
Good weekend until I arrived home I received an email to inform me the hotel had used my credit without my consent to pay for clients who were not part of our party. I request a refund of €130 we have stayed in this hotel ten years and if this is not resolved it will be our last time to use your hotel. Regards Sean Bissett, President of the Motorcycling Union of Ireland. The location
Good restaurant in hotel with meals at competitive prices. Staff were both friendly and very helpful.
central position room dirty.
this hotel was really nothing special but it was right downtown and close to the bus station. also just a 20 euro ride by taxi to the charleroi airport. it was really a cute little hotel.
coffe and tea in the room, taxi transfer to the airport old bathroom
Found the reception staff very helpful. Also to get shuttle service from the hotel to airport was really appreciated as taxi drivers in Charleroi are very rude and and a law to themselves. Also the room was very quiet. We travel to Cyprus via Brussels regularly and would probably use the hotel as stopover.
Free in-house-parking, free Wifi (and fast, too), well-equipped rooms, friendly and helpful staff, good location, nice view from some rooms Rooms to the Place Albert 1er can be a bit noisy on weekends
friendly and helpfull staff
Hotel for one night stay before early morning flight.
friendly helpful staff very quiet hotel a few words of english on the restaurant notice boards would help
ideal hotel for a stopover
Near airport The fact that I paid to leave my car but had to take a taxi to get back as there was no free shuttle service
Location: 8 min from the airport by free shuttle bus, cleaning of room. 25 min waiting of the shuttle bus!!!
Courteous services rendered by staff.
price, it cost me 20 euros in a taxi from the airport for a distance of approx 3 km as the shuttle bus works only in the morning and evening and I had to walk to the airport and back to get some food!!! their is a pisa delivery service which starts at 17:30 hours which is ok but a bit expensive
Dont think about the free shutel because timetable is useles
Privacy, Quiet Everything but the above.
Good hotel for reasonable price, next to Charleroi airport. Ideal for overnight if useing early Ryanair flights out of Charleroi Incompetent staff. Allways comfusing with taxi reservation to / from city / airport. Far away from downtown Charleroi, in the middle of nowhere
Staff attitude, quick transfer from and to airport. Problem to have a meal in the evening.
Cheap Extremely basic
Basic accommodation but roomy, ideally placed opposite the railway station, and easy to find
Privateness was ensured Sewers in kitchen as well as in bathrooms were plugged or semy plugged
A fantastic apartment room at a snip of a price! No, it had all the facilities we wanted
The location near the station, reasonable cooking facilities, an economical small apartment. No Internet connection in this particular apartment, despite being listed on booking.com as having an Internet connection. Some of the owner's other apartments have connections, so you need to ask specifically if that is important.
Location & staff. Renovation particularly of shower room required.
Nice to have Kitchen facilities, close to city and train station. Able to extend stay for one night when flight home was cancelled. Was not obvious from the description that this is not a normal hotel, no reception etc just a room in a business/residential block (no sign at the from door with the name). This also made it difficult to find.
Because it locates near from Charleroi station, it's very convenient for city act & sight seeing.
Although we only stayed one night we found it to be absolutely delightful.
The management were very good. Unobtrusive and helpful. The setting and style of the hotel is very good, reminicisient of a much more graceful age
Breakfast was excellent. Location good but as it has no restaurant you need to drive to eat. The Italian restaurant recommended by the hotel was good but expensive with extremely slow service. The bedroom we stayed in could do with modernisation.
it is situated right opposite a beautifull golf course the old fashioned bathroom and a very dated tv-screen
Lovely villa in a beautiful riverfront location on the Meusse. We had a grand view room with a large balcony overlooking the river. We had brought wine and enjoyed it on the balcony. The villa has that "going back in time" feeling. The area is spectacular, beautiful scenery and lovely old towns and villages. The nearby town of Namur definitely worth visiting. We were warmly greeted and as we arrived very hungry, the owner immediately phoned and made a reservation for us at a little gourmet restaurant that we walked to, just a couple of blocks down the road. We did pay separately for the quite extensive breakfast the next morning, but we enjoyed it very much. It is served in a beautiful sunroom overlooking the garden to the river. The shower, (which is a handshower) was not working, but we just used the big bathtub instead, which was perfectly fine.
Very beautiful building and garden. Nice big rooms and very comfort beds. Nice bathroom. The breakfast is outstanding! Nothing.
nice rooms and friendly staff, nice breakfast
We had breakfast in the room and it was excellent and fantastic value for money. The room was large and luxurious. The host was welcoming and very friendly. Very soft-spoken and unimposing. The switch between shower and bath taps was very stiff.
Great breakfast - though price not included with room. We stayed with baby and accidentally forgot a soft toy. They kindly hand delivered it to Brussels! Very nice staff indeed.
the night clerk was very pleasant and helpful size of the room!
Good position, close to the airport Stuff not willing to help early in the morning. But real disapoitment came when we arrived home - despite the fact we paid everything at reception desk the hotel without any info blocked our credit card - 100 EUR - and it is still blocked (5th day after the stay)..Hotel management does not replay on our e-mails..
The hotelroom was clean and comfortable. The location is excellent right across the railwaystation. Taxi to Charleroi Airport was also good value and can be booked in the reception of the hotel.
Room was OK. Breakfast selection was poor - poor cereals selection, no real fruit, no hot food. The restaurant in the evening was most uninviting. No toilet brush in the bedroom.
The friendly service offered by reception staff. helpful, imformative . the location of the hotel offered a pleasant view and as located within easy reach of shopping and transport services. the room was clean. comfortable and with a good choice of television channels. lacking tea/coffee making
it's very convenient to have such a hotel near the railway station and so early breakfast.
Easy to reach, not too far from the airport, nice bars and restaurants at walking distance. Coffee and croissants were made available, although I had to leave very early.
very slow checking in - although we had 5 rooms in total the service was slow considering we checked in after 21.00 hours!!!
Hotel staff was very helpful! The location was excellent. It's just a short walk to catch an A-bus to Charleroi airport.
very clean. The room was great.
Nice, comfortable and clean room, good parking facilities, perfect location near the airport. Temperature in the room was higher than needed, no possibility to adjust it. Free wifi only in hotel lounge, should be free also in the room.
The location The standard of the food in the restaurant
parking faility for the airport
Closeby, good comfort
An elegant hotel, with brilliant service, amenities, and the most comfortable beds in Europe...surely! The restaurant was good and the ambiance was very comfortable and invited you to stay in the hotel all day and all night. You had to stay in the hotel or face a €30 taxi fare (return) to anywhere. There is no shuttle, and the taxis are on a fixed price €15, so you must add €30 to the daily room price if you want to go to/from the airport or to/from Charleroi. There is nothing interesting that you can walk to from the hotel, so you have to take the taxis to go anywhere. The guest would benefit mightily from a free or even cheap bus/shuttle to/from Charleroi centre and the airport.
The room was big and the location very convinient The matresses are a bit worn out
very easy to find free parking the pure brekfast
How nice the barman was to us, eventhough the kitchen was closed he prepared a plate of cheese. There were 2 bugs in the bed!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the beds were very uncomfortable.
Facility for the airport Too expensive and no insonorisation
This was a very pleasant surprise. Nice small hotel with plenty of individual service. Friendliest staff ever. Owner takes great pride in his establishment.
We loved the hotel! The staff (I assume the owner of the hotel) was friendly and extremely helpful! We really appreciated the shuttle to the airport in the morning.
Clean hotel and friendly staff. Free shuttle to airport was nice thing, because it's not so close to the airport as you can imagine while reading reviews. Internet was working via cable. Quiet place. So you get what is promised. No free Wifi. Some hot food would be nice in the morning.
The close proximity of the Hotel South is its best feature as its only a 7 min. drive to Charleroi Airport. Really suited me as I was getting a 7 am flight the following morning. The hotel is run by the owner, a man. He drives a shuttle bus (7 seater) over and back to the airport. This same man also covered reception. No breakfast is available prior to 7am.There is nothing to do at this hotel, - just stay in your room which has a T.V. The small shop is a few steps away and has its door locked, access by ringing the door bell - I just thought the neighbourhood maybe bad. The free drive from the airport and back the following morning is the only selling point for me. Should add a new box to Q. 1 - Beside Airport. My reservation said breakfast would be 8 euros., but it did not say - there is no breakfast before 7 am. a buffet breakfast of juice etc could be easily organized.
Excellent service and proximity tothe airport
Very friendly helpfull staff. Excellent hotel for getting early flights from the Charleroi Airport.
Friendly helpful staff and a clean and comfortable room very close to the airport.
The owner was extremely pleasant and hospitable. He wrote us out a day tour of Brussels on a map and gave us great information for being new to the area. Hotel was modern, clean, and rooms had plenty of space. Breakfast was great and you even get a taste of the famous Belgian chocolate right off the bat if desired.
Personnel of the hotel is very friendly. Transfer to/from airport is provided
Location, interior and exterior decoration, scenery. The park needed maintenance, time between courses at the restaurant long, breakfast "refill" could be quicker and sharing a table with others in the morning was a little akward.
Quiet and peaceful. Luxurious without being formal and stiff. We will stay there again.
I liked the senary and the location very much. The people on reception were very friendly, however the people serving were not flexable at all. It was not possible to get anything to eat after 10 o'clock because we missed breakfast, and the only thing we could eat was lunch after 12 wich was a bbq. No sandwiches or what so ever. The waiters where i think a bit snobbish... see above...if you realy want to be an international hotel and not only a restaurant for the few from your neighborhood, you should instruct your servicestaff behind the bar and restaurant better. The only"normal"one was i think the manager there...
Fabulous location, beautiful building well furnished. Staff very friendly excellent facilities and grounds that you can explore. Would not recommend the restaurant which is very expensive and yet feels like a cafe. Over 114 euros for a 2 course meal for 2 with wine and yet you only get a paper serviette!! It would appear the chef tries to produce gourmet food beyond his/her abilities. Avoid the lamb which was tasteless served on undercooked beans.
The hotel is in a beautiful location. The reception when we arrived was good. The rooms are well appointed and the grounds are extensive. Bin hadn't been emptied in the bathroom. Not enough hot water in the morning. Times given to us for breakfast were wrong. Absolutely no signage or information to or in the hotel (including menus/breakfast times etc). No information on the surroundings or tourist information available. Service was slow in the bar. Hotel would be impossible to find without a gps.
Nice location Reservation issues. Check in issues. Poor understanding of parents with children
Environment and hotel are nice and quiet. Staff is friendly. Food is rather expensive.
perfect natural surrounding the restaurant is closed on Monday, and we didn't know it in advande, couldn't find a restaurant if one has no car.
Not very much at all. See below. We feel the hotel and staff missed many opportunities. From the start we were not made to feel at all welcome as we were unable to drive the car to the door. Luggage had to be dragged over stones and the wheels were then broken. The reception desk was hidden and no-one available to welcome us. There was a dead tree at the base of the stairs where a welcoming reception desk could have been. Why the dead tree was covered in silly bits of paper which no-one would read was a mystery!! The room was fine, clean and comfortable. Dinner was served cold ( scallops) and with much delay, even though there were very few guests actually dining. The barman preferred to take a phone call in the middle of taking our drinks order. We thought that the face to face customer was the most important one. We were wrong.
The location and the castle. Nice lounge and bar. Nice facilities for kids. The bathroom was not clean and water was not hot for taking a bath. The service in the restaurant was poor and the breakfast is definitely low standard
Town center within 5 minutes walking distance. Reception staff very helpful providing information with local facilities and amenities, museums etc. Don't expect bar to be open when you return in the evening. On weekend break with a group of male friends and when I booked this hotel it was expected the bar facilities would be available.
Hotel stuff were very helpfull, giving us all the info we needed. And about the cleanliness... I was in 5* hotels with less cleanliness, so, good job Best Western Leonardo Charleroi !!! The walls between rooms, pretty thin, in my opinion ;)
Friendly helpful. Good facilties, restaurant attached and able to sit outside for supper; good breakfast Difficult to find.
Location was central, breakfast was very good, and free WiFi was very useful. Rooms were very small, however for a 1 night stay this was acceptable.
bath room was great, big and comfortable bad,tea-kettle with teapot in room (tea and coffee).
The hotel has a fine restaurant, with fantastic cuisine. Really enjoyed it. Price/quality super.
Location, restauration. More information from the railway station. I came bu trian and had difficulty to find the hotel which is at a walking distance !!! Let's save CO2 !!!
We had a really luxurious room with tea and coffee making facilities and a settee.
Ease of access to town facilities It may have 4* facilities but it was very poor quality, very run down and had little to commend it. I would be reluctant to use a Best Western Hotel again.
Breakfast for Euro 10 is rather expemsive.
excellent rate and convenient location
Location There is no Hot Spot in a room
Friendly staff,, clean rooms, value for money and central location
Clean and spacious, nice view of the citadel. The first room I was assigned was a smoking room, but I was quickly moved to a non-smoking room when I presented the problem to the front desk staff. No t happy that I had to pay for the internet which every other hotel I've stayed in in Europe has offered it free (5 in the last month).
easy to find using ibis map. Good secure parking. Just a short walk fromtown centre. breakfast very expensive so didn't bother.
simple, but clean and nice I got room for smokers, possibly, so it was not smell good
Helpful, pleasant staff. Very good location.
Conviniently located. Got a big, comfortable room. A bit of inconvinience with the soap dispenser. The paid internet service stopped working the day i was to check-out! Good thing was the hotel guy did not charge me. Breakfast too expensive.
Air condition a little unefficient
Excellent location; excellent meals
Very nice old building which surprises with very modern interior and rooms. Rooms are large and very nicely fitted. Can't beat this hotel for value for money. Restaurant is superb. We had a great set dinner for only 30~40 Euros and quality was top! Nothing negative to report
Dinner in the Hotel restaurant was well prepared and presented with an eye to detail and quality of ingredients. Very good.
The location and the food The interior was not as traditional as we had imagined it would be
Nice location No way near a 4 star hotel, too expensive, restaurant portions not enough to feed a small kid.
Enjoyed Breakfast, the ambience was better in the morning then evening. Didn't like the renovation, too much of the history had been wiped out..
Chateau itself Meal is good but rather expensive
The owner, cook, receptionist was very friendly, and always on hand to offer suggestions. Rate was good. Parking was a bit of a challenge; because although the hotel had parking available out back, it wasn't clear how to reach it. I parked in the public lot just over the street - which worked out fine.
The Chateau is absolutely beautiful. The rooms were spaceous, clean and comfortable. Very nice bathrooms and decor in the room.
Best thing about it is also the worst. Lovely and secluded but also hard to get to and as Namur is innundated with taxis getting back in the evening was difficult. Also good value as we got a deal for 60 Euros for the night, probably not worth it at over 100.
Hotel comfortable. Spacious rooms. Location is quiet and by the river. Ideal for travel by car. Hotel 25 minutes away from city centre by bus. I was there on business so we were provided with transport every morning and evening. Last bus is at 9.22. If you miss this, You have to phone a taxi - walking from city to hotel is out of the question - too far away.
the indoor swimming pool not always very clean (especially the bed cover)
The hotel has a nice feel, good for children, excelent location. Very price/ value. I booked the hotel because it has a swimming pool, we had 2 children with us. De pool water was simply ice cold. I complaint about it at the front desk and the manager but with no result , they said the water was always 28 ° I have a pool myself in LA but this temp. was way lower than 28. Everything else was nice, I go back to Dinant regulary but will be hasitating to believe the heathed pool story so I dont know if I will book this hotel.
Close to the River with wonderful views yet close to town.Comfortable room. We would use again. We Thought that the Breakfast was overpriced for what was available.Next time we would opt out of the Breakfast.
Clean, comfortable rooms. Excetionally helpful staff.
The dinner we had for 11 persons was excellent
It was comfortable, quiet and relaxing as a stopping iff point on the long journey from Italy. It was also excellent for an evening trip into the old town of Namur. As a disabled person, it was a long walk to the room.
Problems with Sauna
Next to the river, very good shower We resented having to pay extra on arrival for a river view as they weren't very busy. No secure parking. Breakfast too expensive.
reception of the guests was quite friendly compared to other hotels, the breakfast was a bit too expensive
bar area, terrace, location ,staff the rain!
I thought it was a very nice and clean hotel. There was a draft from the window, so during the night it became very cold.
Convenient yet quiet location, parking nearby, great river view. Breakfast too expensive at 13 euros, we went to cafe 10 mins walk away.
Easy walk into Dinant. Free parking.Good value. Very basic room appointments....reminded me of my college dorm. Riverside view was very scenic, however, on mild weather nights it can be very noisy as a terrace (with table tops and chairs) wraps around the first floor. A/C system did not work.
Location overlooking River Meuse, proximity to town centre, easy to find, excellent parking facility adjacent to hotel We were in rooms 20 and 22, good rooms but they (and the corridor0 had a continuous, 24h, quite loud hum, about 50Hz, probabably caused by the lift electrics and which may indicate a fault or potential fault. My wife found it difficulkt to sleep. Unfortunate, because otherwise the hotel was super.
Being a Sunday in November the hotel was very quiet so parking no problem (free). 10-15 minutes walk into town along the riverside very pleasant and good range of places to eat in old town even Sunday night! River view is very nice but did notice mosquito netting at the window and a notice showing various flying insects on display in our room, so wonder how nice it is during hot weather. Usual Ibis room fittings but fine for a stopover. Bed comfortable and good shower. Would like to have hot drink facility in room.
I expected, that it will be much more worst, but it was quite good for the price. Room was worm and tidy, not noisy. Also internet for free was available. Not verry fast, but it was. In the breakfasts was enough staff to choose, what would you like to eat. Im satisfied for the price and what cen i get.
Breakfast was not too bad and the rest one get used to after couple of nights Room dirty, no space to move or put suitcase, carpet stained, shower in bad condition, mould on the ceiling plus smell of smoke from pillows
The Breakfast I kindly asked the hotel to reserve me a taxi for the day after. The hotel did not call a real taxi but a 'fake' one. receipt was not issued since the taxi had no real licence. even if I asked twice if the car was 'legal'. The supposed taxi had to heater, it was unfortable and dangerous (right side driver). In addition the hotel room had no heater working and my night was particolarly cold. however this was fixed for the second night.
That is was cheap, convenient and value for money. Whilst the fact that it was right next to such a busy road was not necessarily an issue, the fact that the double glazed window did not shut securely enough to keep out the noise of the road was not so good.
Nice staff, delicious and rich breakfast. Very poor sound isolation, poor and old room interior, old and very small tv.
The Staff are always very friendly and courteous. Room was very cold
polite and helpful staff. clean enough. It was really hard for me finding the hotel from metro station. heavy Noises in the corridor until midnight and from 7 a.m.
Reasonable position / onsite parking / early hours breakfast For the same money I have obtained a far better facility recently.
The Breakfast, and their London Taxi Iam o.k with them.
The room was clean with crisp sheets, however two of the three bed covers had holes. The breakfast room was large and the food plentiful including Liptons Tea bags. Upon entering we were asked if we would like to stay as the hot water did not work and unusually for Belgium they did not speak any English. Snow was on the ground and the bedroom window would not shut - so I wedged it shut with the curtain. However the room was warm.
very convenient as it is located very close to the airport. Quick in and out, just for an early rise to catch the plane is perfect. very basic comfort, similar to F1
The hotel is very close to the airport. The staff is kind and helpful, rooms are quiet. The address of the hotel is difficult to be reached by private car even with a GPS navigator. The area where the hotel is located is still developping and presently rather desolate.
Great location,Friendly staff Ordered room with double bed,got 2 single beds
the room including the bathroom the bar and barsupply
Friendly reception; clean and efficient; excellent bathroom/shower; easy parking. In common with most continental hotels, lack of tea-making facilities in room. Bar area too bright and totally lacking cosiness. Tricky to find from airport
Close to the airport, shuttle service
The room was nice, bed very comfortable. The shower was also very ok. But the location seems to be close, but you must take the shuttle to get there as it is pretty complicated to get there. I was staying in this hotel only for 1 night and I did not like that the administrator took a copy of my passport. He explained that it is due to a legislation in Belgium, which is not true. 4 days before I stayed in Brussels for several nights and nobody needed to take a copy of my passport.
Was near airport No menu for kids staff had no English, surprising considering location, order food from snack bar menu and @ $10.95 each and were handed small bad quality microwave dinners , bill soared from $130 to $240 for two room one night stay (food bill) , never again.
Clean and service staff The hotel is 500 meters from the airport that could go away by feet but they managed to taxi you need to go and we must pay.
Good sized room, comfortable bed, pleasant staff Only had hand held shower
Very clean, friendly staff, excellent bathroom, lovely countryside around, quiet 12eur for breakfast is not cheap
Peace and quite, great restoration job.
Beautiful place in a beautiful location. We only stayed for one night but would have loved to stay for more. We will go back!
Accueil charmant endroit calme et reposant plein de charme
we like the room, very big and comfortable, the breakfast, the place, the silence, gren colour of the grass. there is no elevator.
Great room, great location. Serene atmosphere and the staff could not be more helpful. Very much enjoyed our stay there. Breakfast was expensive at 12 euro
The lady in charge was very customer friendly
Friendly staff, very nice quiet environment near a small village. Spacious room. Enjoyed a quiet sit and read outside in the provided lawn chairs with cushions. Showerhead could only be mounted in a low position for sitting, so it was inconvenient to have a shower while standing up.
Wireless connection not working quite properly
