Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was superb. Would definately stay here again.
An interesting, traditional hotel in a prime location in the market square immediately next to the Munster in Freiburg
The striking of the hours and quarter-hours by the Munster bells does not allow deep sleep
Wonderful location, friendly and helpful staff
The location of the hotel was ideal, and the staff were helpful and well organised.
Pleasant room, good breakfast.
We had no hot water in our hotel for the final two days of our stay. I reported this and was assured it would be fixed. It wasn'T. Nobody informed us what the situation was. Thankfully there was anpther bathroom on the landing outside the room we were staying in.
Central location, well informed staff.
The directions given on the website to reach the hotel, was not very clear. We had a bit of a problem to reach the hotel.
Loved the central location, but a bedroom overlooking the market square can be a little noisy if you have your window open. The early erection of market stalls and the chiming of the Munster clock can be a problem. However, the hotel's facilities and food overcome niggles like noise.
Friendliness of the staff.
Our clean, basically furnished rooms looked directly out over the north face of the beautiful pink-stoned medieval Munster and down on a colorful farmers market, with food and flower stalls -- a great treat in the mornings. Despite vendors setting up quite early (before 6 a.m. on a Saturday), we didn't hear a peep. The hotel is situated over a popular restaurant, and we entered through the restaurant's front door, though later learned of a side entrance just for hotel guests. The breakfast was very nice, and we enjoyed forelle blau and other local dishes one night in the Hotel Rappen's restaurant. The Munsterplatz is located in the center of the pedestrian zone, but we were able to enter it directly behind the church to drop off bags. Parking is in a public lot 3 or so blocks away, but there is a discount offered to guests.
The shower was tiny, and my husband bang himself on the swing-out doors several times. There was no way to vent the small bathroom after a shower except opening the window, where pigeons were often roosting.
