10.0 Excellent
Pros: Casa do Rio is the place to enjoy the Douro River, perfect location! The house is amazing from the location to the facilities and the staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous. Gracious, accommodating staff, beautiful boutique wine hotel and properties. Wine tasting and wine flight with dinner were really wonderful. Dinner is a set menu but they were willing to accommodate for one of us who did not like the entrée. Food was fresh and well prepared. Breakfast was also great (included in stay). Lovely pool and spa. Lots of walking paths and its right on the river.
Cons: It would have been helpful to better communicate the tasting and spa schedule and arrangements for dinner when we booked. But maybe I missed something. Thankfully the host called us and confirmed our dinner plans. Hotel is located off the main road on a narrow, winding, relatively long private road (but well maintained). Not feasible to take dinner in the nearest town (Vila Nova Foz de Coa) - you would not want to drive there in the dark if you are not familiar with it. This is not a complaint, just a heads up.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything, but especially the staff and the beautiful design of the property. The architecture is impeccable, and the facilities are intimate and beautiful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice wine pairing dinner! The entire winery is preserved well with the building positioned right in the center of the vineyard with amazing river front view.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A home from home. I couldn’t recommend the hotel more. We stopped at the six senses for lunch afterwards and quite frankly wanted to jump into the car and go back to the Caso do Rio. It’s a hotel full of soul and testament to those that work there. The portuguese mountain dogs at the hotel were the icing on the cake for us!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything in Casa do Rio is so charming, in every details. The people are welcoming, nice and will adjust for you perfectly. The rooms are lovely and full of little attentions, and the vue is breathtaking. The pool is gorgeous. The meals are delicious, so as their wines, Porto and olive oil. The way to reach the hotel is long but it takes you straight to a quiet place where you can here thd birds
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing property, amazing staff. We loved it!
10.0 Excellent

9.3 Excellent
Pros: A very friendly and charming place. Our two-storey apartment was very comfortable and even had air-conditioning in the bedroom. The pool area is great, also because of the beautiful art work (the owner is a professional and well-known sculptor as well as a real gentleman). Breakfast was very good. The setting is very rural; the howling wolves in the distance at sunset, and the magnificent (shooting) stars at night made it a very special place to stay.
Cons: The location being very rural is great, but also means that there is not a lot to do in the immediate vicinity. Mogadouro is only 15 mins or so away, so this is where you have to go for restaurants and shops.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Outstanding on every level. Utterly beautiful place; a gem! Breakfast: better than at a 5 star hotel! Very friendly welcome. Ana made us a fire in our room, and we met Manuel at breakfast. He told us about his art works; delightful, warm man. The setting is quite breath-taking, very relaxing. Loved it!
Cons: Nothing to dislike. Minor issue: the place is not easy to find. We recommend a good search on the Google street view.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hospitality of our host and the overall experience of rural tourism. Property was super clean and very cozy
Cons: Guests may enjoy a better internet. But if you want to disconnect it is a plus
9.3 Excellent
Pros: A very nice place in a completely rural environment, fully equiped with all the comfort you might need. A bonus: a beautiful private swimming-pool.
Cons: The village is very isolated with no shop at all.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It was so quite and peaceful and the hospitality was outstanding. The beds were the most comfortable with beautiful bedlinen and beautiful gardens and pool. And any requests were met straightaway.
Cons: A bit hard to find nice places to eat close by.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Everything was good at this property. The room was a good size and although not airconditioned was in the stone wall main building so it was not necessary. The owner was friendly. The pool was a welcome addition in the early evening. Breakfast was fine. Good value for money.
Cons: Whilst signposted agritourisimo it is not the easiest to find from either north or south and gps (mine anyway) did not show the place. If driving best plan your approach on Google prior.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous housing away from the tourist mainstream, located in a small village in the countryside; large room with balcony situated in a small cottage that is part of a former farm house. The Quinta has a wonderful ambiente with objects from a well known portugese artist Manuel Barroco who lives and works in this Quinta. The pool area, the sleeping room and the breakfast room were very clean and perfectly managed. The service is excellent and professional, very kind and supportive. We enjoyed 4 wonderful days in the Casa das Quintas. Thanks to Ana and her father ...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our stay was perfect, the area is very nice & quiet, our hikes in the area were marvellous and we have enjoyed the numerous different birds flying around us. Every morning a lovely breakfast was served. The hospitality was very friendly and service minded; services provided e.g. laundry service, were excellent.
Cons: Nothing worth mentioning
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is so genuinely nice that I would recommend it to anybody. Anna is such a nice lady who helped us a lot with everything. Beautiful artwork of Anna's dad who is a great person to chat with as well. We felt totally relaxed after our stay. Great value for money! Top choice!
Cons: 8.30 was the earliest breakfast time, which is a bit late if you want to fill a whole day with activities such as a nearly walk before it gets too hot, but Anna can accommodate you with a breakfast pack.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great atmosphere. Clean, spacious and stylish rooms. Beautiful property full of art made by the owner’s father. Great view, pool, surroundings. Breakfast was delicious. Ana even prepareren us a tasty sandwich to go when we had to leave for the airport very early in the morning. Ana and her family are so kind!
Cons: Not a problem for us, but the village is very remote. Closest restaurants are 15 mins away, in Mogadouro. Plenty of very good options there!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Time spended here was amazing. Well decorated house, clean and spacious rooms, charming garden and magnificent view. But above all was the friendliness and hospitality of the hostess.
Cons: Could it even be better?! Nah, I don't think so)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful location. A warm welcome and attention throughout our stay. Top quality for the excellent dinner we had on one night of our visit. We have stayed here before and will do so again.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The owners and staff were extremely gracious and accommodating in every way; and the facility, which was exquisitely designed and decorated, resembled a modern Hollywood villa more than anything in a small, remote river town in Europe. Lots of glass from floor to ceiling in the main eating area provided fantastic views of the surrounding hills and the Douro River and valley. The breakfast was outstanding and items could be fixed to specification, if wanted. The owners grow most of their own produce, make and provide homemade jams, as well as very good wines. In fact, the owner/chef is also an international wine taster and journalist and writes reviews of wines. The location was at the outer edge of the town and was so quite and away from any traffic or noise that one felt as if it were her own home. It also afforded the opportunity to see a number of recommended views and sites within the National Park that borders Spain.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: nice place to stay. pretty. solid accommodation. impressive dining room with gorgeous view.
Cons: i found the plastic undersheet beneath the sheets. was uncomfortable for me though my wife did not feel it. also could not get water temperature hot enough for the bath.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous location, if isolated. Owners were fabulous. Food superb. Owner prepares fabulous food, his own wine, olives, yogurt, and much more. Would really recommend staying here and if we’re near there again would not stay anywhere else.
Cons: Nothing.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Family atmosphere. Cozy place and comfortable for a few days of rest. Paradise landscape. Breakfast limited in options but with products of the region, fresh and with high quality.
Cons: It is close to a small town but considerable distance from several tourist points of the region although with acceptable roads.
10.0 Excellent

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The house is in a small village, to be open there is not a lot around, but nature. So we enjoyed the quiet time. The room was very nice, all furniture new, bathroom new and good. The kitchen we were allowed to use was perfect. The Breakfast was provided by mother of the owner. Very friendly, good varierity of local products. Even so we do not speak Portugese we had fun communicating and got all Information and help we asked for.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This was our best accommodation during a holiday (and breakfast was exceptional). The owner is very friendly and helpful. I recommend.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff, rooms are very clean and new, nice furniture, great kitchen available, quiet place, very easy parking free fo charge. Breakfast is included and very well prepared. Good restaurant available nearby.
Cons: Very hard to find something to remark...maybe that the lady does not speak English very well, she prefers Portuguese of French. But she's very kind and friendly, very good staff!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful hostess, fantastic breakfast of oranges and other fruit from the garden plus other goodies.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful Place in the middle of nowhere. Rita and her Mum where both beautiful. Her mum made a very very delicious and big breakfast in the morning - we where totally surprised of all the things she made. We had a good talk with Rita before we left - she is really friendly. If you can manage to get out that far in Portugals country you should come - totally relaxing place with the most newest furniture I have seen in on my trip. Very clean and comfortable Room! =)
Cons: Rita speaks good English but unfortunately the people of the village don´t so communication is a bit hard - but if you speak french, spanish or portuguese i am shure you will have good conversations there! Also the Roads to the place are a bit adventurous but manageable if you are a good driver ;)
6.3 Good
Pros: The owner is very friendly and very committed to give us the best breakfast possible. Her homemade jam was delicious and breakfast was really great! The bedroom was clean and neat, although interior decoration doesn't add up with the rest in my opinion...
Cons: I was a little disappointed because I didn't get the country house feeling at this place. We have to call and wait for the staff to do the check-in, there was no one on site and that is the first time that happened to me in this kind of accomodation. The sound isolation was nonexistent and I woke up every time other guests were leaving, from the moment they were in the shower until they actually left, which started at 6am... It was the poorest night sleep I ever had in hotels and country houses.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location and property had modern interior and very clean. Our host was lovely and very obliging. Excellent breakfast, wouldn’t hesitate to re visit.
Cons: Bed had a slightly hard mattress for me.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hospitality was excellent. There was a very good restaurant nearby.
Cons: It was quite a remote village.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great find in the mountains close to the town of Torre de Moncorvo. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and pleasant ... breakfast was included in the price and was really good. The surrounding village was pretty and peaceful and the views across the valley were to die for. We chose to eat in the local restaurant, which was within walking distance. The owners were very nice. There was no menu to speak of, but they cooked us a very nice plate of steak and chips and salad for a very reasonable rate. The view from the terrace was amazing.
Cons: Only one place to eat in the village, other restaurants 12 minute drive away.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was huge . Modern facilities . Friendly staff
Cons: Getting to location very narrow roads

Pros: This very old town house has been newly renovated in a wonderful way. They have kept all the old things and style and there are some different public rooms to use. The personal are just perfect in there service all the 24 hours. They also arranged a wine tasting together with a local oenology sitting in the garden. The breakfast was very tasteful and complete. We could strongly recommend this place!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We were impressed by the personal service at Casa da Avo. Despite a slight difficulty in communication in English via email, the staff very efficiently dealt with our request to visit the paleolithic Coa Valley rock engravings. Taxis to and from the railway station at Pocinho and to the museum were all pre-booked with a good local taxi driver (Joao), and they also pre-booked an excellent tour guide for our visit to the engravings. We loved the view from our room (Oliva). The breakfast was excellent as was the restaurant they recommended around the corner. We had a very enjoyable visit.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: A wonderful old hotel. Beautiful. A trip back in time. N
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast. Excellent location. Very pleasant and estetic old house with antique furniture.
Cons: In April ,out of season , they need a better arrangement to hear the door bell and open the door during the mornings. They have only one staff person that stays in the building and sometimes cannot hear the door bell.

Pros: Super Fresh Croissants for breakfast and the staff availability for helping. Really nice staff.

Pros: Location is great an staff quite friendly

Pros: The staff was super nice, very flexible with breakfast time. We could use the kitchen so for me was a good to be able to cook something (I am vegetarian! :) ) the hotel is in the city centre. very close to supermarket and restaurants.
Cons: The entrance. There's no sidewalk and cars pass really close to the entrance. A bit dangerous. They should change it or talk with the municipality. Also, I could hear the conversations coming from the downstairs floor through the pipes in the bathroom. I know it's weird but it's true.

Pros: A hip, modern boutique hotel in the center of town.

Pros: Everything was nice. Quiet location in beautiful nature. Everything worked, good shower and kitchen. Nice people.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is amazing in the middle of nature very comfortable and cozy to relax there is no better
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We arrived by train from Porto to Pocinho and walked here on the dirt track which was about 2 hours walk including a nice walk through Sequeros which contained a water tap. The accomodation was fairly easy to find. We had to wait for a while as there did not appear to be anyone at receiption however when we looked around we managed to find someone and we checked in ok. Room and facilities were great, just what we needed and excellent value for money. The dog, cats and especially the kitten made it extra special. The nearest town Moncorvo had a good choice of shops so we picked up some supplies to make our evening meal. Very out in the countryside so ideal if you like unspoilt nature. It is not essential to have a car but you must like walking a lot!
Cons: Only thing is the staff didn't speak much English but we didn't have any problem with this because we didn't need any assistance!
8.3 Excellent

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Coffe and tea in the kitchen. Good quality price
7.5 Good
Pros: A very quiet farm and a good place to stay in family and specially in holidays. Not far from the village center (10 minutes by car). The studio was very confortable with two beds, kitchen and a badroom. There were cats, dogs and other animals in the farm.
Cons: Everything was perfect.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious room and bathroom
Cons: We are touring cyclists and the accommodation is outside of a very hilly town at the top of another hill. There are no meals provided so we had to cycle back down to the town to find the nearest supermarket and then return up hill. It was all a bit much after a strenuous day's cycling in the Douro mountains. Perhaps the fact that you need to bring your own food should be included in the blurb or the owners can offer to drive guests like us to town.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent stop over point before we went kayaking down the Douro. Clean and homely.

Pros: A very unusual property which was why we chose it. Outstanding natural surroundings. Excellent dinner in town.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Romance of the vineyard, of the views and the setting could not be beaten. Fantastic little village to explore. The roads leading to the village and thus the vineyard are a adventure leading to a perfect road trip for us.
Cons: Having to leave
4.5 Okay
Pros: Fabulous view.
Cons: Living room extremely small and with no heating facilities. Fireplace stopped working. Silverware and china reduced to the bare minimum both in terms of quantity and quality. For the price I would expect much better facilities - It's on level with a good Pousada but stays miles away from any of them.
7.0 Good
Pros: Stayed at the "Pombal". Bed comfortable. Location very quiet. Nice views over vineyards and valley. Cosy atmosphere in evening with fireplace (plenty of wood provided).
Cons: Very steep access road with hairpin bends, not easy to manage at night. Not possible to drive to property with sports car. Umbrella on terrace broken, one of the 2 terrace chairs broken, therefore could not enjoy breakfast outdoors. Kitchen equipment limited, cheap metal containers & pots. Some equipment dirty. Only 1 electric plug for 3 appliances (juicer, hot plate, toaster). Multiple plug provided on 2nd day. Old coffee maker leaking, could not prepare coffee on first day. Breakfast is self-catering, and kitchen not very spacious/comfortable. No table for breakfast/dinner (only small tray at living area, and stone table on outside terrace). No recommendations or details provided for walks in the vineyard, pool etc. Restaurants are at 15-20 minutes walking distance or more, with extremely steep access road back to accommodation. Pros: Old pigeon house transformed to a small paradise on earth. Quiet and with fantastic view. Super swimming pool in the skyes. Nice breakfast delivered at the house in the morning.
Cons: Road up is relative steep, and with narrow turns - not advisable for bigger stationcars, but no match for a mini - medium sized car
