10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is one of the nicest guesthouses we stayed in recent time. The guesthouse is located in an older house which was renovated very tastefully. The rooms are stylish, lovely decorated with a modern touch combining old charm. The hosts are super friendly and helpful and gave us information on restaurants in nearby villages. The breakfast room is absolutely gorgeous and we loved the breakfast together with other guests on a big table. The home made marmelade is delicious. Ray-sur-Saône definitely is one of the loveliest villages on the Saône. It is extremely quiet and it looks like time has stood still. The houses in the village are old, some lovely renovated. The setting of the village on the Saône river is fantastic. There is a castle on the hill and some lovely walkways around the village. We will definitely return to this guesthouse in the future.
Cons: nothing - just perfect :-)

Pros: Everything was perfect - the location, chateau, our room and the breakfast. We were received just great, we spent a wonderful evening near the fireplace and enjoyed very much all the time we had. The house is gorgeous and stylish. The breakfast exceeded all our expectations- it was served so beatiful, with everything we could ever wish - fresh croissants, bread and eggs, a perfect choice of cheeses and charcuterie, great coffee and fruits. The room was also beautiful and the toilet room is very modern and well furnished. Many thanks for such a wonderful reception, we had a great time in the chateau!

Cons: Nothing. What was not to like?
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful, tastefully decorated room. Fresh flowers a lovely touch. Excellent, spotless shower and bathroom facilities. Delightful, welcoming lady owner, who brought us tea in the garden on our arrival and allowed us to ramble through her orchard among the chickens, then chatted about art with us in the evening. ...
Cons: Nothing, although the village is a long way off the beaten track!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was excellent, with its own little garden area, fridge and a little kitchenette
Cons: Difficult to find as the Booking.com map reference had the property in Dampierre-sur-Salon when in fact it is 5 kilometers away in another village called Vaite. This has now been corrected on the web site
9.5 Excellent
Pros: So far the BEST breakfast in France, prepared by the lovely owner herself (outstanding BRIOCHE).
Cons: the location is very remote maybe for some. It served perfectly for our purpose. We met business friends nearby...
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A lovely place, with kind and helpful owner.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast setting was out of this world and beautifully presented. What a special treat to eat in such a civilised atmosphere in this modern day and age . The beds were very comfortable . All in all a very special place to stay .We will definitely go back again .
Cons: Nothing. The only problem was payment as we had to go back and find a bank the next day to pay cash.If we had known the night before when we were at the brasserie we could have picked up cash then as the credit card machine was broken.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely quiet family run B&B. We stayed in one of the family rooms which was spacious and the beds were comfortable. We booked the evening meal (you have to book in advance) eating with the family. The meal was 5 courses and either home grown or locally produced with a small narrative before each course. Our hosts were generous with their use of English as our French is so poor. We would definitely recommend a stay here if you want to steer clear of the larger hotel chains on your travel down through France.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent friendly people , the breakfast was included and there was plenty to choose from with fresh bread, 3 kinds of home made jam , ground almond cake as well as cheese and local sausage and a thermos jug of coffee. It was a shame we were at the wrong time of year to visit the lovely garden, however the view was good. It is a old place full of character.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful, will book again
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Plenty of space, clean, tidy, and old! Very friendly staff and delicious breakfast. Super overnight stop.
Cons: Nothing
5.8 Okay
Pros: The accommodation is in a lovely old mill with a pleasant terrace for eating out on warm evenings.
Cons: The evening platter for which we paid 13 euros per person was well presented but very minimal and not value for money. The breakfast was very poor - we were served a plate of fruit containing 2 completely black bananas (there were 4 of us) a portion of muesli in a jar which was not even enough for one person along with the usual bread and jams (one jar contained only a couple of spoonfuls). We found the presence of the proprietor very off-putting as he sat at his desk a few yards away whilst we ate.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hosts are very friendly and want to make you feel welcome. The room was spacious and clean with free coffee, thee and water. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was well equipped. In the morning we had a nice breakfast that was included with fresh, local and homemade products. The parking on the premises is secure with a locked gate, that's also a plus.
Cons: We didn't dislike anything really. If we need to think of something it might be the bathroom lock that was a bit more difficult to open. Don't panic ;), it does open!
7.5 Good
Pros: Room sizes and beds were perfect for our family on a one night stop over on our way to a skiing holiday
Cons: I felt the breakfast could have been better. Limited and luke warm "hot chocolate", no croissants - would have preferred croissants to freshly prepared but limited amount of brioche.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place, quiet, charming, clean, lovely friendly hosts, highly recommend
Cons: nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful welcome, beautiful property and spotless and comfortable room. Incredible value for money - including a great breakfast.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Angelique and Stephane very hospitable. Angelique is a good cook and we had a nice supper using local ingredients and their own home grown produce. The price is inclusive of wine. Breakfast was very nice with good selection of homemade jams and cake and local meat and cheese. We stayed in the Bretonne room which was very comfy and looked like it had been recently renovated. Good shower and nice to have tea and coffee facilities. It is a very quiet location.
Cons: Can't arrive until 6 which may be a problem for some people when difficult to anticipate time of arrival. They have a nice garden which could be good to sit in. There is no restaurant in the village so if you stay here you will want to eat. The meal is with the family at 8pm which might be late for some people and you join other guests on one long table . If you have dietary requirements you must let them know beforehand as it is a set meal and there is no choice. Depending on who is staying it can be difficult to converse with other guests. We were the only English people but the hosts did manage to explain things in English to us.

Pros: Estelle was so welcoming and helpful, enjoying practising her English on us. A property steeped in history, but modern and clean. She laid on a superb breakfast using homemade and local products and also happily booked a table for dinner for us in the next village 5 minutes drive away. Added bonus was the pool, sauna and massage chair! Ample off road parking safe and secure. A lovely sleepy village. We didn't get to meet Estelle's farmer husband, but thank you Estelle for your company and kindness.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel, great location, excellent food with local produce
Cons: Not a lot
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Evening meal was served with style and food was excellent. The swimming pool was great at the end of a hot day.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful location on the banks of the Saone with extensive grounds - a grand old house beautifully presented. Attentive and friendly host. Restaurant in the classic French tradition with excellent food. Breakfast ample in a relaxed and informal setting.
Cons: The Restaurant being very traditional was a little too formal for weary travellers! Wine prices too high - but this is true of restaurants all over France!
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: They have a nice park.
Cons: A room under the rooftoop with 30 degrees, no aircon, no wlan and equipment from the seventies is not worth almost 100 euros per night without breakfast. Including a diner which was served with all courses within 30 minutes, we paid 370 euros for two nights. As I told the director after one night that this room is not working for us and we want to cancel the second night, he got furious and told us that he will call the police when we are not paying the second night. Because he started shouting at me and my family (including my 2 years old daughter, who started crying), I decided to pay for the second night, but to leave within 15 minutes to protect me and my family from this badly run place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: great place with beautiful park, very peaceful tasty breakfast with fresh pastry)

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Elegant chateau, tastefully decorated in period, located in a large manicured park. Nice pool. Comfortable bed. AC in some rooms
Cons: Dinner is served in the elegant dinning room, only drinks on the terrace - in summer it might be nicer to dine outdoors
8.8 Excellent

5.0 Okay
Pros: We had supper there. the food was good traditional french food - like going back 30 years.
Cons: We almost left because there was no way in and no-one to greet us (it was a Sunday). Finally a neighbour raised the chatelaine from an adjacent house. This was despite being told exactly when we would arrive. The rooms were just adequate but I only had a wash hand basin.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: It was cheap, had a balcony with a nice view and friendly staff.
Cons: Some elements in the room showed signs of wear and tear.
7.5 Good
Pros: We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a large room at the front of the hotel. So we had lots of space which was lovely.
Cons: The plumbing in the room was poor ( the loo kept running) and there was only one wall light, and only one bedside lamp.,
5.0 Okay
Pros: Comfortable bed
Cons: The bar restaurant was closed to residents the night I arrived. Only one other restaurant in Gy - also closed. The receptionist offered only “If you want to eat - wałk to the supermarket - 1km”. No warning. No communication. No offer of anything, even a cold collation for guests. After 29 km of walking, I wanted something to eat and drink. I had to settle for a supermarket sandwich in a supposedly small 3* hotel...
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very enthusiastic and helpful staff at the associated bar restaurant. The room had the required facilities. It is a bit odd because the rooms have been created on the floor of an office building so it doesn’t look and feel like a hotel. But it did the job for us as pilgrim walkers. Bar and restaurant were handy and across the road from supermarket and Boulangerie.
7.0 Good
Pros: Rooms spacious
Cons: No aircon. Couldn’t get tv reception.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location excellent. Hosts very friendly
6.3 Good
Pros: We left early so host left out our breakfast for us which was quite nice of them. Hosts were not available when we arrived, but their daughter let us in and showed us our room.
Cons: The description of the property was incorrect ... perhaps the translation from French to English? We were expecting a house with a single bedroom, but instead it was an upstairs bedroom in a house. Very hot and stuffy, no fan. No privacy within room for toilet and shower. We are walking the Via Francigena and there are very few services nearby. No restaurants and a small grocery about 1.5km away.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Fresh bread for breakfast
Cons: Very nice owner cannot compensate, the place is just to old and worn down to rent out.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were very friendly. WiFi worked just fine. There was lots of room for a solo traveler.
Cons: The location was somewhat remote.
