Cons: I liked everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms and public areas are even better in real life than in photos. Very good breakfast. Andy and Danny are excellent hosts and gave us the best possible experience. Location is perfect for exploring this part of Portugal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We spent one month in Portugal travelling all over the country, and we stayed in some nice places, but Casa Azimute was our favourite place of all. Andy & Danny are thoughtful, impeccable, kind, and gracious hosts. The rooms and property are spotless; the attention to detail is second to none. Breakfasts are fresh and delicious and personalized to your taste. The location is superb, and Andy & Danny are a wealth of knowledge about incredible local places to visit nearby, but the property is so fabulous that you may not want to leave :). Specific restaurants are recommended, and reservations are made for you if desired; maps are offered with routes drawn out for towns nearby - curated day trips, essentially! Andy & Danny are as involved as you would like; they both have an easy social grace, a non-intrusive presence, and a wonderful sense of timing. The property is a sanctuary, a modern and unique architectural gem – we recommend reserving one day to just stay in and soak up the experience at Casa Azimute, and don’t get us started on the beds – the most comfortable by far in Portugal!! The atmosphere is intimate, quiet and friendly, which suited us very well. We loved our time there so much that we added an extra night. We will be back, and for a longer visit next time. It’s the kind of place you want to tell everybody about – and nobody, because you want it to be your secret... but frankly it’s too special not to rave about! Thank you for everything, Andy & Danny.
Cons: Nothing, everything was perfect.

Pros: The place and the setting are stunning, but it is Danny & Andy that make it extra special, they are both really great and you can tell that they want to make your stay special. We can’t wait to return.
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Outstanding venue for lovers of modern architecture Probably the most engaged hosts in Alentejo Fantastic breakfast
Cons: Super stylish with an amazing pool embedded in paradise - nice romantic trails around the property Good local wine selection and great belgium beer
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A place that exceeded our expectations. It shows in every little detail of the house how much love and dedication Andy and Danny have put into making this place one which made our stay so pleasant and was even more enjoyed by their hospitality and careful attention to our needs and also dietary needs. Loved the beautiful architecture and interior design, the stunning views, also the little candy treats and their very playful dog Gromit. We are so grateful to have spent those few days at their house and hope to return in the future.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners are amazing, super friendly and they make you feel right at home. The view from our room and the view of the property is beautiful. Breakfast is great and we had an excellent lunch! We loved our stay, the dogs are super funny and friendly and the host Francisca is always ready to help.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: You 100% need to book this place! You will not regret it. OVERALL: 11/10 if I could rate it that high. I have been around the globe more than a few times and travel 6 months a year for work/leisure. Rarely do I have an experience so special that it pauses me in my tracks and makes me feel so grateful and lucky. Staying at Casa da Moira was a breath of fresh air. LOCATION: Easy to find and hard to forget. After a romantic drive through the beautiful countryside, you arrive in the quaint city streets of Avis. They are lined with citrus trees and it's a wonderfully charming town surrounded with wineries and waterways. The town is NOT touristic. It feels authentic and rural while being very clean and picturesque. There is a supermarket, bank, and anything you need within a short walk in town. You can climb the castle walls and the town has a museum too. HOTEL DESIGN: Beautiful mixture of rustic, chic, with home touches that made me feel like I was in a 5-star hotel. Not the overly manufactured or cookie cutter hotels you now come to expect, this is truly unique without being too much or tacky. SO COZY. You will drop some blood pressure points immediately and relax. ROOM: Big! Mine had carpeted floors which were a treat. The bed (my most important factor in a hotel stay) couldn't have been better. I recently injured my back and the bed was as supportive and comfortable as the staff (10/10).The room had high ceilings and views of the wineries of the area. FOOD: When you are asked if you want to join the family for dinner, SAY YES. It was easily one of the top meals I had all year. Food is about connecting as well as fuel. Breakfast was epic and it had the best fresh OJ I have ever had. STAFF: I would not call them staff. I would call them family. Genuine, beautiful people. I sat for hours speaking to them and getting to know the family that runs the hotel. They are very attentive without being overbearing.
Cons: Everything was perfect. No complaints.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hospitality and hosts, elegant rooms, amazing views, beautiful, authentic Portuguese village on top of a hill. Highly, highly recommended!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful relaxing house with lovely hosts! Excellent terrace where we had wine and cheese with Joao and Maria in the afternoon. They took us on a very fun boat trip and then dropped us/picked us up from lunch at a great restaurant in nearby village too! The dogs Menta and Box are so friendly as well. Cannot recommend this place enough :)
Cons: Nothing.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Professional but at the same time very friendly hosts Position of the 2 houses in the town with great view Elegant rooms with all the facilities Pool(s), as each of the two houses (extension to the original house accross the street) has its own The way the hosts welcome you in their family Free coffee any time and other small amenities
Cons: Not staying int he main building (as we were), to inclcude a key to access the main house should be considered
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very sincere, personal welcoming, amazing house, the dinner with hosts was unforgettable.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: + Extremely nice and welcoming hosts + The dogs, Menta and Box are the soul of the accommodation + Great breakfast + Beautiful views over the river and great location inside the city walls of Avis

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Such a warm welcome and the personable and genuine hospitality was like nothing I’ve experienced before. Beautiful property inside and out with views to die for. Dinner with Francisca, Maria, Joao and Alice (and Menta and Box!) was one of the many highlights of our stay. I would have no hesitation in recommending Casa da Moira and I will definitely be back. Obrigado/Obrigada/Thank you!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We had a very nice stay! The hosts were very friendly, the house was beautifully decorated and has a lot of soul due to its well preserved authenticity!
Overview Reviews
At Torre de Palma Wine Hotel in Portugal’s Alentejo region, first-time hoteliers Ana and Paulo Rebelo pay homage to the adage “to live like Romans”. The former pharmacists have all the ingredients that make for good living: elegant interiors in perfect harmony with nature, wine tastings from the hotel’s own 14th century vineyard and winery, an indulgent spa, and a restaurant that serves Alentejo’s best delicacies as well as offering culinary workshops. Ride a Lusitano horse, have a picnic in the vineyards or surrounding nature, swim indoors or outdoors, or run through the property’s orchard. whatever you do, this is glorious isolation at its best and you couldn’t be in better hands.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great picnic in the olive tree yard!
Cons: Swimming pool was too cold.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Everything is great here! Since the moment we arrived all details were absolutely stunning. We highly recommend Torre de Palma.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous style building and top quality facilities. We were upgraded to a suite which was wonderful. Staff were so helpful. The food and wine were excellent.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel for 1 night, with good food and wine. Excellent staff and great service.
Cons: I liked everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the feel of the entire hotel, the food was brilliant (we had breakfast, dinner and bar food which was all fantastic). We did a wine tasting which was informative and wonderful. I felt very relaxed and indulged, the property has a serene calmness to it, the sunset drinks from the rooftop was a bucket-list moment.
Cons: There wasn't much I didn't like. The only thing would be the clear chairs in the bar are not comfortable, it would be nice to have more lounge type chairs in that area. Also, the sauna was not working when we were there but the indoor pool certainly made up for that.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Extremely welcoming staff, beautiful high quality rooms, a gorgeous pool and everything was spotlessly clean. Dinner in the restaurant was absolutely outstanding and you can have a glass of wine up the tower and watch the sun set. All the staff really took their time to recommend things from the menu and wine we would like. For us it was more expensive a hotel than we would usually choose and the setting and staff are wonderful. The interior design of the whole place is beautiful. After we checked out I left my passport and they rang me really quickly to tell me!
Cons: Breakfast was slightly disappointing - for the first 10 minutes we were there there weren’t any staff around so we couldn’t order any of the a la carte items or coffee. The buffet/continental type breakfast was just ok. When a waitress came to take our order she seemed to get told off quite publicly by (presumably) a manager about not asking for our room number. I don’t know who would be chancing a free breakfast out in the middle of nowhere :)
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Stunning countryside. Gorgeously updated old farm/equestrian establishment. Very pleasant staff. Room more like a suite. Great wines and local produce. Good restaurant. Wonderful pool facilities.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super weekend; will be back maybe with our horses !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really warm welcome. We were shown around the property and invited to use any of the lounge areas, indoor pool and bar should we choose. The restaurant dinner was very enjoyable. Interesting menu and not over priced. Staff that we encountered in all areas..ie restaurant, checkin, room servicing were all excellent. The property is away from the town in a rural area. Very quiet and the room was beautifully decorated and comfortable.
Cons: Very dark lighting in the bathroom made it difficult to see for applying makeup!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful and friendly staff, spoke perfect English. Extremely tasty food and wine, very rich breakfast. Beautiful design and architecture, very stylish interior. Clean & tidy. Amazing experience of wine tasting and private cooking workshop.
Cons: It was a little strange and unexpected to get charged for bread and some other complement from chef, especially in a hotel of that high standard! Came to us as a surprise, may be the waiters should have presented it as an extra appetiser instead of a complement from chef?

9.2 Excellent (304 reviews)

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very nice and thoughtfull. Allowed us to check out at the end of the day since there was no one occupying our room that day. The pool and outdoor space was great! The building architecture was really nice and fit to the environment.
Cons: Some maintenence needed in the room in terms of black joints in the bathroom but nothing very alarming. In the balcony of the room there is only 1 chair, which is disappointing if there is a couple in the room - one of the persons need to stand or sit on the floor! The swimming pool didn't always have an employee to take our order as the person was always going up and down to the restaurant to pick the requests. The food at the restaurant was very good but some attention to details needs improvement like bringing food with no serving cutlery, forgetting to bring the salad. The dam was not properly explored for the guests with commodities. A few guests went there but immediately came back to the hotel as there was no one there nor any conditions to stay there. Maybe in the peak of the summer is different. The gym is a bit far from the main building - did not impact us as we were not going, but can be discouraging, especially in the winter as it's a moderate walk.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The perfect getaway from the busy city life, the tranquility of the place allows you to relax and find your inner peace, best hotel I´ve stayed in a long time. Will be from now on at my top 5!!!
Cons: Wifi is not great but its not that bed, being disconnected for a few days.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great facilities and comfortable and clean room.
Cons: Wi-fi was awful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was wonderfull! Eveyithing was great!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was everything extremely nice.
Cons: Noting.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Amazing building, amazing pool (built as a sort of infinity pool), with a very nice bar withh all day good food. Calm surroundings. Perfect breakfast, varied and with very high quality in all products. Amazing staff, always very helpful. Very spacious and nice room, with very good light blocking, nice bathroom.
Cons: Nothing to report.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Overall we loved our two-night experience staying here. The rooms are lovely, the views amazing, the pool was very nice. The food from the restaurant was excellent (especially breakfast - and the Nespresso machine is a great touch). Room service was only 5 Euros extra for service fees, so much less expensive than in the states. If you eat meat, please do yourself a favor and order the meat and cheese plate for room service. I don’t even eat that much meat but was really impressed. They give you a LOT of meat. They also offer a great selection of local wines you can have in your room.
Cons: Our only major complaint was the sporadic power issues in our room. The outlets were going on and off, and we brought all the sufficient international converters (with the voltage converters) that have never given us an issue before. I couldn’t reliably charge my phone every time (maybe once out of five times we tried did it work, and it seemed to cycle on and off), or my power cell backup—we ended up having to charge them from our rental car. The WiFi never worked on my phone but did on my husband’s. Lastly, they really should have two chairs instead of one on those nice outside patios.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room is spacious, modern and comfortable. Breakfast is good, the pool is great, and the sound of birds all around is amazing, including the peacock family that visits every morning
Cons: Restaurant was somewhat slow.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All staff were really nice and professional. Swimming pool, views, quiet, silence. Food was great too.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The design and facilities of the hotel, the outdoor surroundings were beautiful
Cons: There were 2 couples with a baby and 5 little kids playing and shouting in the swimming pool all afternoon, and during early hours (8-9 am) in the corridor between the rooms. So our plan of resting and enjoying the peace and beauty of this place was significantly compromised during the last 2 days. We believe the main fault were the parents who were rude enough not to even try to control the kids... but the staff in the hotel could have helped the other guests in this matter by saying something to the parents... We were not the only people annoyed, and that was very obvious to everyone apart from the nannies and parents... Shame on them. But overall we loved our stay and Herdade da Cortesia and Avis and would love to be able to go back one day.

Pros: Excellent rural boutique hotel. Unmatched facility with great helpful host.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: very nice and special place
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is really an exceptional place to stay. Beautiful spacious rooms, excellent breakfast, very kind host, fantastic garden,... all designed and decorated in a wonderful way. Whether you want to relax on the premises or explore the region, it really is a perfect place!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great host and amazing property!
Cons: Nothing...
7.5 Good
Cons: Specifically...the description and photographs were misleading. The property was more akin to a bohemian hideaway than a perceived high quality, highly specified and stylish facility. There was an air of "tiredness" and, in areas..particularly outside..a lack of perceived maintenance and upkeep...perhaps this was, in fact, what the proprietor was actually intending...but...certainly not what we expected from the relatively HIGH PRICE asked and the description and photographs.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful place to stay. Wonderfully stylish and comfortable with a host who has a knack of anticipating every need without being intrusive. Beautifully sumptuous breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is unreal - the beauty of it is hard to describe. It is hot outside, not a single cloud in the sky, but Orlanda managed to create an atmosphere where you dont notice any of that - there are numerous secluded spots in the shade, lots of small green oasis nooks all around the property. One could spend an entire day around the pool, it is very peaceful and relaxing. Our room was great, the bed was very comfortable, feels like being in a spa.
Cons: That we had to leave so soon.
7.5 Good
Pros: So many delicious secret spots to relax, read a book, sunbath or take a nap under the trees. Very quiet and peaceful place for the lazy summer days.
Cons: The host, who apparently is also the owner, was not very friendly.

Cons: Very small bottle of complimentary water in room.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location, building, staff, decor, pool, restaurant

Pros: The rooms were lovely and the service was fab It was my wife’s birthday and they gave her a complimentary bottle of bubbly and a varied desert dish sent to our room, it was a lovely surprise for her and She is still telling people! The staff were so helpful and always happy. The hotel was a beautiful place to stay and was surrounded by historical buildings also very near the town, albeit a little steep to come back up for us as we are not the fittest
Cons: The only thing I didn’t like if I have to say is the headboard on my bed made such a noise as I turned!
6.3 Good

Breakfast was really good, with lots to chose from a wide buffet. Check-in and check-out were very smooth. We didn't try the restaurant as we really enjoyed walking into the town and trying out the restaurants around the jacaranda-lined main square. Will definitely recommend this Pousada to friends!

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly. Especially the lady I met at the front desk who didn't speak a lick of English but was somehow able to communicate with me. She was so enthusiastic and friendly I didn't feel frustrated in the slightest and was able to find out everything I needed to know from breakfast times to how to access the Wi-Fi. The rooms are cleaned every day with fresh towels and beds made. I enjoyed the modest breakfast of bread cheese and ham, a selection of yoghurts, pastries, cereal and Cake! I really enjoyed my stay and felt safe and welcomed. The man who works at the front desk in the afternoons and evening speaks perfect English. He helped us organise a Taxi to the castle for my friend's wedding. He was also able to accommodate some of the bridesmaids after their hotel booking fell through with a last minute room.
Cons: I felt the bathrooms are a little dated. Could do with some refurbishment but nothing you wouldn't expect in a 2* establishment.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A friendly hotel with helpful staff. Good location in the centre of Estremoz. Rooms are reasonable size with comfortable beds. There are three reserved parking spaces on the road in front of the hotel.
Cons: Needs a little maintenance - the first room we had the door could not be locked, the door had dropped on the hinges and the lock would not line-up. This should have been noticed days/weeks before. We were given another room so no real problem. The hotel does not accept credit cards.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Free breakfast, clean rooms, friendly staff.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good location close to everything. Spacious room and bathroom - especially for a so called "2 stars", including bath tub and bidet. Saved parking spaces for guests right upfront . Great value for money!
Cons: Beds were hard ang uncomfortable. Staff didn't speak any English.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is directly at the center, parking space in front of the hotel. The owners are kind and helpful, they gave us a big room with a beautiful terrace. The room rent was including a nice breakfast.
Cons: The bathroom was a little old fashion.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast. Very helpful staff. Great location. Tip: stay on a Friday night to go to the market on a Saturday - the best ever!
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff and location. Estremoz is beautiful town with a lot of character. There are few excellent restaurants close by.
Cons: I have no complaints.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Estremoz is a very different town from other Portuguese towns (every Portuguese town makes the same claim!!). Travellers who visit Portugal will know the footpaths are paved with millions of stone blocks hammered into the ground. Well, Estremoz has gone one better!! The footpaths are paved with marble blocks. Another fact that distinguishes the town is its long history of making agricultural tools. The O Gadanha of the hotel's name is due to the previous premises on the spot up to 100 years or so ago, made scythes, and O Gadanha in the Portuguese word for scythe. The hotel was spotlessly clean all over, everything in the room worked, and everyone who we contacted were, without exception, friendly and helpful far and above what I would be accustomed to in a town centre hotel. I couldn't complain about paying €45 for an excellent twin room and a proper breakfast. Parking was reserved for me on the main street right outside the front door. I finished my visit with a big smile on my face.
Cons: It is very hard to say anything negative about the hotel. Everything was good from start to finish. There is no lift, but I knew that when I booked. They do not accept cards for payment, but that too, I knew when I booked.

Pros: Everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a lovely B&B, just a few minutes driving from the center of Estremoz. The house is lovely and guests are welcome to use the living room and kitchen. Breakfast was lovely and served in a beautiful dining room.
Cons: Not easy to find, mainly because the name has been changed on Booking.com, but not on the property itself. We arrived at Quinta do Cacador, thinking it was the wrong place, but in fact it was the right place. The Quinta has a locked gate, so you need to be able to contact the owners when you arrive. We didn't have any telephone service, so it was a bit of a problem.

Cons: Challenging to find under the Quinta dos Ingleses name

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Parking was easy in the hotel grounds and the first impressions of the hotel was fabulous. We checked in and were shown to a room in an annex which was lovely - spotlessly clean with a lovely bathroom and a nice comfy bed. The room had a nice patio on which we enjoyed the sunshine. After a great nights sleep the breakfast was fabulous - great selection of cold and also bacon and eggs.

Pros: Location
Cons: Cleanliness (room toilet was dirty) Shower was broken Air conditioning extremely noise when in low Asked to iron a small cloth, because there’s no iron in the room, it came back exactly how it went...
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was quiet, great to chill out... and walking distance to the center of the town. The rooms was nice and very clean. Small but nice swimming pool. Little corners in the garden where is possible to chill out almost in private. Private parking.
Cons: Breakfast, available items changed from one day to the other, the small croissants disappeared and fresh fruit choices reduced, though of good quality. Oval windows impossible to open in the room- level 1. So we had natural light but not a "real" window. Amenities in the bathroom were very basic for this category of hotel

Pros: Nice and helpfull host who took us on a small trip around the place. Great place to chill with nice swimming pool, and garden. Close to the Estremoz if you travel by car.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Close to Estremoz. Monte da Rosada is in a quite village just off a main arterial road for Spain and Lisbon. We liked the accommodation, excellent staff, very friendly and helpful. Very nice place to chill out if you are journeying between a to b on your journey. Owner personally showed us around the original historic onsite winery, that was a very unexpected pleasant surprise and made our stay even more interesting. Liked the pool area, the availability of an inexpensive bar to purchase a drink from. Enjoyed the dining areas and spacious communal lounge areas. There are a couple of local restaurants in the village that perhaps we should have tried.
Cons: Not a lot that we didn't really like. Estremoz? (Not much excited us in Estremoz). Offering of evening meal a little basic and unadventurous, not a lot to choose from , food we had was nice though. Breakfast was ok but again a little basic and limited.
6.8 Good
Pros: Evening meal very good as was the breakfast.

Pros: Lovely rural location with great gardens and the hostess was most helpful....rooms were fine ,in fact everything was nice . great breakfast
Cons: The mattresses need updating ...maybe its me because I have a bad back....
10.0 Excellent
Pros: When we drove through the lovely traditional front gate, we were pleasantly surprised by the extensive lush green gardens surrounding 3 sides of the Hotel. It was a beautiful surprise. No need for AC as walls 600mm thick so property was cool. Fab bathrooms with cute shutters, and spacious suite in tasteful Portuguese country style. A wonderful experience for 2 Aussie travellers. Having driven several hours through very dry countryside this place was an oasis with a fabulous pool. Lovely breakfasts. The owners happened to be in residence during our stay and took an interest in our comfort, made a special trip into town to get meat for us to BBQ which was above and beyond we felt. We had access to the kitchen to keep our wine and beer cold (very important when on holidays). Overall we appreciated the warmth and care shown us. What a find..!!!!! Thanks Chris and Terese..
Cons: Observations only, not really faults with property. Bedroom quite dark in daylight hours, however we made allowances for this being an old farmhouse previously, and also understand the benefit of keeping heat out in summer by closing shutters etc. Bed just a little too firm for us, but we rested OK. We did feel the upkeep outside was in need of a little more vigour. Small things like the entrance needing a coat of paint as its the first impression one gets of the property, and a good tidy of the garden beds, lawns, big pond and BBQ facility would have made it perfect.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast, Space around
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely setting and spacious accommodation. Pet friendly - we were travelling with our small poodle . This property was very easy to find and only a few minutes drive from Estremoz.
Cons: Being surrounded by fruit trees an insect spray would have been useful. Unfortunately dinner is not provided but we were recommended a restaurant which as excellent.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful old farmhouse, tastefully decorated and wonderful grounds with orange and lemon trees, flowers and a friendly dog. Hostess and all the staff were very welcoming. Breakfast was fairly basic but the fresh orange juice was delicious.
Cons: Only one small difficulty - the water in the shower was quite temperamental - going from hot to cold, but probably manageable with practice!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Especially the warm welcome and that my host went above and beyond for me!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and the owner Catarina Leitão couldn’t hav3 been a better host. I will come again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A clean, comfortable room and bed, also the best breakfast I've had during many stays along route from UK to Portugal. An inviting bar is adjoining the property for a beer and relax after a long drive. I cannot find a negative thing to say about this hotel.
