10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were fabulous and the location outstanding
9.3 Excellent
Pros: This is a rustic picturesque property, remote and quiet. The couple who run it are helpful and very friendly, but only speak Spanish - very good practice for us. There is an onsite bar and restaurant and a terrace with views over the countryside. We had a good breakfast on the terrace in the sunshine. The property is a good 15 minute windy drive out of Charilla in Hoa de Charilla - not on the map!
Cons: There is no phone reception never mind Internet!!! And no separate bedside lights.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was run by a wonderful family, the area is quite remote but beautiful and we really enjoyed the stay it was more of an adventure. The food was incredibly good and we were made to feel very welcome. Perfect!!
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, quiet and lovely staff
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We misjudged the distances and elevations when cycling from Jaén and arrived at the hotel at 10pm. The owners were waiting for us and we recieved a lovely welcome. The hotel is in a valley with beautiful views of the surrounding countriside. We sat outside on the Patio and had breakfast and it was soo peaceful. The room was nice and simple and had a good sized bathroom. We had only one night there as travelling on a strict itinery but would have liked to have stayed longer as the setting is perfect and there were lots of places for hiking.
Cons: Nothing
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A gem of a BnB in the middle of a beautiful countryside. The owners were super friendly and the restaurant serves very good local food. Basic accommodation as expected from a rural BnB but comfortable. You can take walks from here so I wished we had stayed longer than the one night.
Cons: Booking said it was only a few km from Jaén but the hotel is one hour ( at least) away. So nit convenient for Jaén but a great little place to stay and relax for a couple of days. Breakfast could be improved.
7.5 Good
Pros: The property was lovely and well maintained. All areas were clean and the staff were friendly despite there being a language issue.
Cons: The access road to the hotel was very poor and could easily damage a vehicle. There is no Internet access or mobile phone signal at the hotel.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Jade and Corne gave me warm welcome to their traditional Spanish guesthouse halfway between the castle and the town centre. I found a very comfortable bed in a simple but clean room. Breakfast of tostada con tomato y queso was excellent! Other breakfast options were also available. I will return to Casa Grande for another cycling holiday around the Alcala region in the future!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful and approachable staff.
Cons: Nothing
6.8 Good
Pros: Great location in the heart of the city and a friendly host who made a nice breakfast. Lovely roof terrace with partial view of the castle, nice to sit outside in the evening.
Cons: The house is old and needs updating. The room was right next door to the breakfast area and quite noisy in the morning.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We did like the quirkiness of this old town house and the beautiful views from the roof terrace. The host was excellent helping us with our trip needs in the given circumstances. We could not thank her enough.
Cons: Breakfast could have been better if a Spanish tortilla or some eggs, fresh tomatoes and cucumber would have been on the menu.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Owners hospitality and helpfulness
Cons: No parking
6.3 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good, good selection of food and decent coffee and juice.
Cons: The breakfast room was right outside our bedroom door and it was being used from 7.00am. Sleep was impossible from then on. Also no bedside lights or any lighting controlled from the bed. Room cramped and no storage
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Huge King-size bed. Room scrupulously clean. Large modern bathroom( we had the room with bath also). Toiletries were provided if needed, hairdryer. They have thought of everything. Breakfast continental style wonderful. Cereals fresh fruit, ham, cheese and Tostada with tomato or preserves. Excellent value.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: It is an old castle on the top of a hill with fantastic views. Bedrooms spacious and with air conditioning and balconies. Good pool and lovely grounds.
Cons: Jaen is not an interesting town! Food choice was between a big dinner or a bar snack of toasted sandwiches, had the bar snack - which turned out to be large - but a broader choice would have been better.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect peaceful location - lovely walks around Parador at night to see it all illuminated. Will. Retail you re is it this place .
Cons: It was all excellent
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Looked like it's a part of the castle with a great view, our room had a balcony, the restaurant is nice we had dinner and breakfast. Free parking :).
Cons: The bed was too small for a couple and the access to the rooms was difficult without help with the luggage since there was no big elevator and we had to carry the luggage for few steps until we get to elevator.
6.8 Good
Pros: Amazing location . Beautiful building
Cons: Food in main restaurant poor and expensive Limited options for food in the bar or anywhere else in the hotel Limited drinks (a few cans available around the pool area ) Pool only opened at 11 am When asked for a late check out when the hotel was almost empty was told could only do it if We took lunch in the hotel , when there was a sign in the lift advertising late check out for 25 euros Power cut in the night on our corridor . Had to find our way round with a torch. Only sorted in the morning Stayed in the parador in Córdoba which was slightly better but staff there rude and abrupt Always wanted to visit the paradores in Spain but have no desire to visit any others
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Magnificently restored castle with great views. Big swimming pool with lovely gardens and a very good restaurant
Cons: Nothing. This exceeded our expectations
9.3 Excellent
Pros: -Excellent property (it used to be a convent) in a great location right on top of the hill and next to the castle, although a bit tired. Lovely room and bathroom, although we missed having a kettle and tea making in the room. -Breakfast was fantastic value. A huge spread in the beautiful dining room. -Dinner was a bit disappointing, as there were almost no vegetarian options, and while they managed to make tasty starters, the mains were underwhelming. However, the sumptuous decor, excellent wine, bread, olive oil, cheese, dessert and attentive staff made for a special evening! Lovely pool - perfect for cooling off on a hot day.
Cons: -Missed having a kettle in the room for tea -Would have liked a more innovative menu, including tasty vegetarian options, especially hot (temperature) food for mains both in the dining room and in the bar.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Setting, pool, beautiful building, fantastic views.
Cons: Under staffed - slow service. Average food. Needed more outside places to sit and drink
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The Paradors in Spain are a treasure for travelers, and the Parador in Jaen is no exception. It sits at the top of a hill, offering sweeping views of the city and countryside. Although the ride into the city center for sightseeing is long, staying at the parador was worth the extra hassle. Our room was lovely. The meals (dinner and breakfast) were delicious. The service was superb.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location and overall setting. The view. The friendly and obliging staff.
Cons: Having to pay 36euro for two breakfasts. I feel this should have been included in the room charge.

Cons: We didnt realise that the pool didnt open until 1st June, we stayed on 31st May, it was 34 degrees when we arrived at 17:30! Management should consider a more appropriate earlier date to open the pool, perhaps May 1st

Pros: It was an unpretentious hotel that delivered what you would expect
Cons: Some of the fixtures and fittings are starting to get past their best, will need a refurb soon to keep it up to spec.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Travelling South we couldn't access our villa until the following day so decided to stop over here. First thing to say is absolute doddle to find easy access and loads of parking out front of the hotel. Friendly welcome at check in and in the cafe bar where we had an early tea. Our room was a good size, large comfortable bed, really big TV on wall to which you could HDMI link if you wanted, fast efficient wifi and easy to use and effective air con. Breakfast was taken in a dining room on the lower floor and an all you can eat and drink buffet policy was good value. Outside was a nice garden and a pleasant and quiet pool to splash about in. All in all a real find. The centre of Jaen was easily accessible and if you didn't want to drive a taxi was about 10-12 euros.
Cons: Nothing at all. Very happy with our our choice
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was a buffet and it was great. A good variety of foods to suit all nationalities The location was perfect
Cons: Absolutely nothing

7.0 Good
Cons: Ants in one of the beds
4.5 Okay
Pros: Pleasant and helpfull staff
Cons: Location, rooms - very uncharming. Im not a ‘hostal person’ but the hostal was the only option i could find for tje night in Jaén as i was on a bike tour. But i have stayed in more charming hostals over the years.
6.8 Good
Cons: cold room, only one blanket
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Free parking!!! Good location for seeing the sights and near a good supermarket. Definitely would return.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good value for money. The rooms were clean, comfortable and quiet. For the breakfast you go to the bar of the station. Not included in the room rate. Good breakfast. Also good tapas in the evening. Friendly and helpful young men at the reception. This hotel is ideal if you arrive or leave by train. The bus station and all sights are a real hike up the hill but I didn't mind. You just should know that in advance. Jaén is a pleasant not too big city, a university town. Not crowded with tourists. I liked my stay there.
Cons: /
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Better than expected. Clean room, nice bathroom.
Cons: - The pillow could be less thick.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: A simple hostal in a central position between the centre of the city and the university. Modern nice rooms, modern bathroom. The close café Estación has mean tapas (food is better) but makes gut coffee and people are friendly. There are more places nearby for eating. Just visit the park just to the north.
Cons: The part of the hostal that faces to the parking area is noisy until 1:30am since the café has outside guests from 9pm to 1am and makes noise when removing tables, coolers etc. after closing. The opposite face to the railway station has a less nice view but is less noisy.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Expected free breakfast but this was no longer offered however we were provided with a voucher to obtain toast coffee and orange at the station buffet foc
Cons: Nothing

3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Easy access to the ferry port.
Cons: Location was deplorable- right next door to a petrol refinery!!!! This should be mentioned in the hotel description - also the price should reflect the location. No food at all available until 8.00p.M. and then only a burger or sandwiches. This is not acceptable when there are no restaurants in the vicinity and obviously they must be missing out on a huge increase in turnover.!!!!!!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Easy access from the highway Great satisfaction with price Nice restaurant
Cons: Little bit old facilities but it’s not a big deal
7.0 Good
Cons: We would have expected breakfast to be included for the price we paid
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Convenient stop off on a long trip from southern Spain to northern Germany. Only a short distance from the motorway. The hotel is modern and the rooms comfortable. There is an adjacent restaurant which serves the hotel. Evening meal was reasonably priced but the staff had very limited English. With the help of Google translate I had an enjoyable meal
Cons: Breakfast was a little limited and not really to my taste, but there seemed to be plenty of locals breakfasting there so it was probably just me.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Out of town but an easy drive to downtown parking in Jaen
Cons: The pillows in Spain are a pain and the mattresses tend to be hard. Great bathroom. Very good staff.
7.5 Good
Cons: 20€ taxi to center of Jaén
7.0 Good
Pros: The Hotel section was good and the room was clean and comfortable. It was an ideal hotel for stopover enroute to South Coast.
Cons: The eating arrangements are provided in the adjacent Hotel Restaurant. Dinner was ok, reasonable menu and the food was well prepared, the table service was 'functional' provided by the barkeeper. Breakfast was a different matter, you take breakfast in the bar area adjacent to the Restaurant. There is no buffet type arrangement, guests have to order what they want across the bar, which can be a challenge. The bar is typically Spanish with locals, including workmen, using the bar for their breakfast/morning break, rather noisy and difficult to get served at times. So not a typical breakfast arrangement for a 3*? hotel
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was fine
Cons: I liked all
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Hotel: Situated close to motorway system. Staff: Welcoming and cheerful. Room: Comfortable, clean and quite even though Hotel situated close to a road, motorway and railway line. Cons: It's a former hospital and they almost didn't change the rooms, bathrooms and decoration. The breakfast room is the modern in hospital style cantina. Breakfast is very poor quality. Coffee and juices from automatic machines with bad quality. No cheese neither jamon or eggs option. Industral bread. You can eat and drink as much as you can...but you won't.

Pros: This the second time I have stayed at th hotel. The owner Loli is very welcoming, the rooms are clean and simply decorated. The shower is powerful. And there is air conditioning and the price is reasonable
Cons: The bins being emptied in the early hours of the morning
7.0 Good
Pros: Reasonably priced, WiFi, clean, has a lift if needed and close to the park.
Cons: No kettle or coffee in room. Can be noisy at night when downstairs bar closes shutters and when rubbish is collected, but you can close the windows because the room has air conditioning
7.0 Good
Pros: Hostal located is in the centre of small but very nice town. It was very easy to find parking space near, even when it was Saturday's evening.
Cons: We were disappointed mostly because of the beds - should be one dobule but were three single. I don't know why there was third bed but because of it the room was cramped. The place was very noisy, we heard everything from the corridor and other rooms (bathrooms). In description was information about bar at the place but it was closed (at least in the evening after our arrive and in the morning before our departure).
7.0 Good
Pros: The location was very good and the coffee and breakfast in the café near the apartment was good with good service. The apartment was clean and had a nice but very small balcony.
Cons: The hosts didn't go out of their way to assist. The room was very basic with no extra touches. Just ensure you do your research before you book apartments.

Pros: Nice, clean room, great view from balcony.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: VERY clean
Cons: No bar/cafe open in hotel. 1 plastic cup in bathroom. No tea/coffee facilities. €45 a little expensive
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Centrally located in Alcala la Real where the narrow streets of the old town meet newer, wider shop lined streets. Although the cafe attached to the hotel was closed there was a nice place for breakfast a short distance away.
Cons: No one was there when I arrived. I telephoned but struggled due to my lack of Spanish. However the lady in charge got the message and came to let me in.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly lady owner, centrally located in Alcala but not noisy, great value.
Cons: My bed wasn't the most comfortable, a bit too soft, but fine for one night

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I am on a motorcycle tour so I am interested in places that are out of the way where my bike will be safe, also not really interested in shops and the like. This is a nice remote relaxing hotel with restaurant with great views. Good choice in the restaurant and the steak I had was excellent, as was the wine. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I had a problem with my bike so they allowed me to put it in their shed so I could repair it out of the rain. They even offered to help, but I was able to fix it myself.

4.5 Okay
Pros: Sunny bedroom.
Cons: Shut down manual roller blinds did not work on two windows. No room towel/cleaning service on all public holidays and Sundays about which we would have accepted if we had been informed about such in advance. Towel rail kept falling off. Rarely anyone on reception available ,yet demand payment and passports, when they are walking through the downstairs area,...and we had to ask three times to give our documents...the manager was always in a rush, and was very rude to us when we mistakenly got out of the lift on the wrong level, . Overcharged after having to stay on longer. Coffee tea and toiletries never replaced after day 1. Noisy street below. No window enclosure to ensure against noise. Recommended by a local estate agent, evidently on commission , and who, negated better accomodation in the nearby area at a more reasonable price. If it was not for the help of a local bar...and because our mobile fone would not function to call the absentee owner, we would not have had any accomodation. in the first place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel centrally located. Nice friendly town with free tapas in most bars
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room is basic but it was very clean and the bed was super comfortable. The rooms are decorated in traditional spanish style. They have everything you need - tv, fridge, great shower, seats, table, and windows with shutters, and clean tiled floors.

I was in Alcalá la Real on one sole mission, to visit the poet, la poeta, Jon Sigurdur Eyjolfsson from Bildudalur in Iceland. It was wonderful. Gracias, -Atli

We could smell it when we got home The cups and saucers were dirty It was not possible to know if it was raining as looked onto a patio which was covered above our room There was no free parking nearby, continually had to drive round and round and finally go into paid parking Reception mainly unmanned, had to go 3 times before I could pay my bill as I wanted to do it before checkout Towels were not very white or soft Television shelf/desk was sloping Spots of mould on grouting round bath 1st day no spare toilet roll Step down/ up in door frame dangerous, we both tripped up or down at least once Didn't feel as if they were expecting us when we arrived. Chamberlain called someone to reception but we had to wait quite a while Didn't expect it to be on first floor but there was a lift

Pros: Location was good for nearby restaurants and parking.

Featured amenities include a business center, a 24-hour front desk, and multilingual staff. Event facilities at this hotel consist of conference space and a meeting room.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is easy to locate and check in was friendly and efficient. We parked on street so cannot comment on the parking facility. Good room and bathroom size and spotlessly clean. We had lunch in the restaurant which was very good and served with care to detail. Breakfast was equally good with plenty of variety and all fresh/reshly prepared (even the fruit juices) Gluten free needs are well catered for with the waiters showing knowledge and understanding. Even providing a separate toaster without having to ask for it! All the staff went about their work with quiet efficiency. It is a little bit of a walk into the town and it is on an incline so if walking is not your thing then check on the bus routes.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was very clean, close to the centre of the city and the room was comfortable. I will certainly stay here again if I have my suit with me.
Cons: Maybe I am used to much space in Sweden that is why I thought the underground parking was scary and was not well planned and thought through. The fee for the parking is not worth it. Park outside if you are not used to this kind of parkings. It would also be more practical with movement sensor to open garage doors and for ceiling lights. Running between the car and the light buttons was unpractical and uncomfortable for small kids, every time they find themselves in the dark. The air in the parking is very hot and not fresh because of the AC generators. The hotel felt very exclusive and a bit not for a blue collar person like me (university professor though). I am very allergic to “suit protocols” and some looks in the elevator. I easily can afford an Armani, but again I am allergic to that.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Spacious room, clean room, toothbrushes for 2 adults
Cons: Windows need to be clean. Breakfast average and expensive
8.0 Excellent

Cons: Rather hilly
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very stylish hotel with a lovely swimming pool for guests. Very friendly and helpful staff. Secure underground parking for the car. Various good restaurants and bars located nearby.
Cons: Located about a mile from the centre of town with a long uphill gradient- so we took a local bus rather than walk. Quite tight to get a large car in and out of the underground car park - but very secure!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hotel with good facilities and secure parking. The hotel has a grand feel about it and the breakfast was good.
8.8 Excellent

8.3 Excellent
Pros: It was really nice to arrive on our bikes and sit and have a couple of beers before check in. The bar was very local and the people very friendly. The room was adequate and clean. The shower worked well and the wifi was good. The restaurant served nice food and we did not feel like moving too far. They had a place to store our bikes so felt that all was secure.
Cons: The room was quite small and dark but adequate for the pair of us after a long day of cucling.
4.5 Okay
Pros: The hotel was located within walking distance of the historic centre and the castle
Cons: The ground floor twin bed allocated room was very small, with windows that were facing the hotel's storage room, frequently accessed by staff and we have been told that it would become a hazard if we even tried to open them. The room was awfully located on a dark corridor only accessible via a restaurant packed with a private family celebration and even worse, right through the middle of the restaurant's smelly toilets! Incredible! We asked for a different room but the one shown was just as tiny with the bed stuck right next to the wall; really not suitable for 2 people. The rooms' décor was outdated.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable bed.
7.5 Good

Pros: Comfortable hotel with big rooms in a great central location. Despite being very close to bars etc, quiet and peaceful at night. Good Spanish breakfast.
