cheap clean room, quiet. snacks and drinks available at reasonable price (for iceland) shuttle to airport available.. if you need to leave early in the morning this is a good location!! 10 min drive away. Although I did see a family dorm I would recommend this place for adults only, there is nothing at the hotel for kids here. having bathrooms on a different floor than my dorm room being far away from the nearest local bus stop and not knowing where it was expense of taxi/shuttle to airport from close by... this is NOT AT the airport but some distance away, you cannot walk to it. Most tour buses only leave form Reykjavik so you have to pay extra to get there. ext time I will stay in Reykjavik to avoid extra cost of travel.
The Start hostel was clean, comfortable, rooms were generous and beds very comfortable. The breakfast was varied and delicious, and they start it at 4:30 to accommodate early flights. I booked this last minute to accommodate a 10 hour layover, and it was a great choice. The staff checked me in late (just after midnight) arranged my cab and provided a yummy breakfast. I would consider staying here if I did a layover in Iceland in the future. It was a little further out than I liked - cabs cost almost as much as the hostel bed. But Iceland is expensive and this is minor. It is also expensive for a hostel bed. But it was toward the low end of the options, so this may just be a complaint that Iceland is expensive.
Lovely people who ran the hotel - they made us very comfortable and were very helpful with information.
The facility was well kept and clean. The breakfast selection.
It was clean, big, super friendly and helpful at 12 am, and really close to the airport. Perfect for late flights!
Beds were comfortable, room and bathroom were clean. Free tea/coffee 24/7 was a big perk. Very close to airport, stable wi-fi and free parking. It was difficult to find, my GPS didn't register the hostel address as a real place so I had to use a map to find it.
Had a 18 hour layover in Iceland and stayed at Fit for a place to get a few hours sleep and it was a short walk from the airport (maybe 1 hour/3.5miles/7km) The bed was comfortable, the manager was friendly, the shower had hot water and the facitilities were clean. The building is old and a bit worn and the area of town is more industrial, but it's only a short distance to a few restaurants and the shore. It was the least expensive place that I found (Iceland was very expensive overall) and was a good deal for the price. I would stay there again and would recommend it. The bedding and pillows could be replaced. I don't mind things being old or worn, but they were noticeably stained. Wi-fi signal didn't extend much past the reception desk, but that was not a big deal.
