Pros: My family and I loved the clean, spacious room, and the beautiful setting when we visited Bergerac. Surrounded by vineyards, there are great walks around the property. 10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host is the warmest and kindest of men. The room was delightful with a smashing shower room and loo. The bed was the comfiest I have slept on in years and as a rarity I even found a film in English on the telly. Thoughtful touches like bottles of water, adaptors and a hairdryer were all there together with bountiful fluffy towels and shower gel. You can walk into town in a few minutes and safely park up on the street (on the pavement) outwith the gated and secluded property if you were happier keeping the car on the main road.
Cons: Nothing, it was lovely.

Pros: We only stayed one night at Madeleine Bergerac but it was absolutely delightful! We wished we could have stayed longer. Nat and her partner were very welcoming and warm, as were Fifi and Nanette (the two gorgeous cats) and Leon (the adorable dog)!! The bedroom and bathroom were beautifully decorated and spacious, as was the breakfast room. The real winner is the stunning garden and we enjoyed a lovely coffee in the sun on the bench looking back down the lawn at the facade of the old house. Also a very short walk across the bridge into town where there are plenty of great restaurants, bars and historic attractions. All round a brilliant and peaceful stay. Would 100% recommend. We really enjoyed the gorgeous garden with plenty of room for reading, relaxing, or watching the birds. Didier and Natalie went out of their way to make us feel at home and comfortable. My daughter absolutely adored Leo, the friendliest dog ever, and the resident cats, Fifi and Nanette. The rooms are beautifully decorated and we really loved opening the shutters of the gorgeous windows and looking out onto the garden. A fantastic place for families and couples! We loved spending La Fete Nationale in Bergerac and walking right back to lovely Madeleine Bergerac after the amazing fireworks show.

Cons: 1.the place is not a chateau it is a big ordinary house , part of him old . 2 . in this area bergerac city there is a big T severe mosquito warning Especially in places where standing water . These mosquitoes carry dangerous diseases. The landlord knew about it and did not warn us. We so much enjoyed his wines that we bought a mixed case which has been shipped back to the UK.

Pros: This accommodation simply oozes character and charm in abundance. It is a traditional old chateau in a natural, rustic surrounding. The furnishings etc are entirely as one should expect in such a venue. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfasts are traditional with handmade preserves and local produce, and well presented. "Les Farcies du Pech " encapsulates Bergerac. The availability of their own wines was a bonus.
Cons: Our visit coincided with an exceptional heatwave. Air conditioning would have been helpful in the circumstances but it was never expected in this type of accommodation. Don't let this put you off.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: From the minute we arrived, we were welcomed into Bill and Marie's home with such warmth. The room (they only have one guest room) is fantastic - very clean and comfortable. I particularly loved the bathroom where the bath overlooked the beautiful countryside. The hosts are so attentive and always go the extra mile - from providing wine glasses to enjoy the sun in the garden to providing advice on local activities and restaurants. They really did make our 3 night stay excellent. The breakfast was fantastic - cereal, fruits, cheese, ham, bread, croissants, pan au chocolate, yoghurts, juices, tea and coffee! Marie always checked that everything was ok and asked if we wanted anything different for the following day ( we didn't as we thought the spread was delicious). The garden is gorgeous and there is lots of outside space. The owners have a dog (Saffy) who was gorgeous and loved playing fetch (they did check on arrival that we were ok with dogs)! The surrounding area is really beautiful and there is a short circular route (30mins) which was lovely in the evening. There is nothing really walking distance from the property however there is plenty a short drive away including a paddle boarding centre in Creysse which was great fun as well as a selection of restaurants. We would definitely recommend this wonderful B&B!
Cons: Nothing - we loved it all!

It was a a great pleasure to meet fantastic hosts who helped us and made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. The accommodation was spacious and spotlessly clean with superb breakfast provided! Having travelled from Spain to the accommodation on a motorcycle we were so grateful for owners' offer to drive us to the local supermarket soon after our arrival. We travel across Europe regularly and use a variety of accommodation types. Without a question the owners are the nicest and most professional couple we've ever met as hosts!! We will definitely return to this beautiful B&B and highly recommend the self contained accommodation.

Pros: Hosts were brilliant, made us really welcome
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely comfortable garden room with air con, excellent!
Cons: A better quality breakfast. Homemade fruit cake was lovely, but madeleines and croissants would’ve been tastier if they were fresh and warm from bakers. Freshly squeezed orange juice would’ve been a nice touch for the price.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the traditional house and got nds with its really comfortable makeover. Perfect location too with free and was parking
Cons: No bad things
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the garden "shed" which has been converted into a cosy little house with its own little patio. It has been done up very tastefully and with modern equpiment (very comfortable bed, TV with English channels, tea-making facilities, well-stocked fridge, great bathroom/shower etc.). Needless to say that it was also all very clean. Lesley and John were great hosts who gave us very useful tips on what to visit and do in the area, various restaurants etc. Breakfast was in the lovely living room in the main house and was a great choice of pretty much everthing you could whish for. The location is very central, just a short walk into the old part of Bergerac with many restaurants, but in a very quiet area,
Cons: There's really nothing to put in this section (especially since our hosts can hardly be blamed for the rain or the mosquitoes - for which, by the way, they gave us a big umbrella and a very helpful cream :-)) If anything: it might be helpful to put a a couple of hooks in the bathroom, but that's really all we can think of :-)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the chalet which is set in its own grounds next to the main house, everything was perfect and very quiet. We had secure off road parking for our motorcycle, it was just a short walk to the centre of the beautiful city of Bergerac. Our hosts John and Lesley are a lovely couple who gave us a warm welcome and useful information for our stay and a great breakfast to start the day.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Everything is walkable. Wonderful recommendations for restaurants and things to see. Our hosts were so full of information. The place was beautiful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A cancellation meant that we were offered an upgrade at a slightly higher rate to the Garden Room-a much more spacious affair. Our hosts, being fellow Geordies, (well John is a naturalised Geordie,) were very warm and welcoming and gave us excellent advice about the best value places to eat in Bergerac. Then we discovered we had mutual acquaintances and the coincidences became absurd. John and Lesley are very good company and run their business with a lot of heart. Highly recommended.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: It is a beautiful place to stay with fabulous views and an amazing restaurant. So many lovely surprises in the garden. The house is stunning and all staff very friendly and helpful.- a piece of heaven on earth. We left early to get to Bergerac airport - only 10 minutes away but you would never realised you are so close when you stay.
Cons: One tiny criticism the water from cold tap doesn't run cold if you want a glass in the night. But not a serious issue just observation
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Exquisite property, hotel is an elegant but comfortable combination of the feel that comes with an older property with modern touches. Had a large superior room with views of the garden, 12 acres of garden with beautiful views, ponds, roses, paths to walk, cozy rooms for relaxing, library, and lovely gracious staff and owners who in addition speak English! The restaurant is creative 5 star cuisine. I wanted to stay forever. Hope to come back again.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Charm and character of the hotel. Beautiful evening dinners. Wonderful dinner on Monday evening. Well located for exploring the area.
Cons: We did not know that the restaurant was closed on Tuesday evenings. We only found out when we reread the house notes. It would help if we were told when we arrived that we needed to make our own plan on Tuesday.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The setting of this French hideaway is picture perfect. The grounds, garden, the building and the views are breathtaking and the food is exceptional. We have stayed twice and look forward to our return. This place is special and was clearly created over years with love, care and an eye for detail.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting, elegant bedroom, large & well-equipped bathroom, gorgeous gardens & parkland to roam, swimming pool to cool off in, parking, close to airport, but no noise from planes, amazing restaurant, great breakfast, lovely staff. Tranquil and peaceful, which was perfect for the rest we needed. Try the restaurant for dinner on at least one night - it’s food theatre & the wine list is more than decent. All the staff spoke very good English if your french gets a bit foggy.
Cons: Only fine dining available in the evening and no official lunch or snack service - this will suit lots of guests who spend their day out and about, however, plus the hotel staff seem relaxed about bringing stuff in if you want to - we bought a bottle of local fizz to enjoy pool-side & they kindly chilled it for us & provided glasses & an ice bucket, which was fab. They also gave us yummy omelettes when we got desperate & didn’t want to try & find a local shop!
8.8 Excellent
Cons: The bathroom was particularly tired: broken tiles, mould, worn fittings. Though it was spotlessly clean it is in desperate need of updating. The dining experience was far more precious than we expected after our first stay a few years ago, and for those who don’t like frogs’ legs, foie gras, sea food, snails and similar, you’re in for a difficult evening. Too many amuse bouches and other small offerings. Not our style at all, though others might like it.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic food in the restaurant
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Al fresco dining
Cons: Location was remote
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location Great swimming pool Good on site restaurant - our dinner was excellent and not massively expensive Coffee machine in room Staff very helpful except at breakfast Gorgeous old building Comfortable bed and pillows
Cons: It’s expensive Breakfast was ridiculously expensive & really poor value for money - coffee not kept topped up, hot food was lukewarm, lack of attention from staff For €24 should be serving tea/coffee at your table

Pros: Claire and his husband are very helpful giving us lot of good advices. They also tried to customize my breakfast as I don’t eat the cheese
Cons: It’s not something the host could control The weather was quite hot but couldn’t keep the windows open as there were mosquitos Didn’t sleep well due to this issue but overall the environment is nice

Cons: There was nothing to dislike about this place.

Pros: The location is beautiful. The room was lively. The staff in the bar and brasserie were very attentive and friendly.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Historic unique characterful building which was spotlessly clean. We enjoyed the opportunity to stay in a 450yr old house. The owners were friendly and welcoming and flexible as we had arrived early. Fresh continental breakfast was super.
Cons: Internet is a bit slow compared with city speeds. Noise travelled through the property very easily.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We had a wonderful stay here. The house has a lot of character that adds to the experience of being in a medieval town. Everything is decorated with so much attention to detail. Although the house is very old, it is kept in an excellent condition. The hosts were very welcoming, attentive and we really enjoyed talking to them. The location is very convenient - right in the old town, near the river and it's easy to walk everywhere. The breakfast was excellent - some of the bests croissants we had in France! It was also very nice to have a terrace to sit on in the evening. Parking turned out to not be a problem - we were able to park quite close to the hotel and it wasn't expensive at all. Overall, we would love to stay here again!
Cons: To enjoy your stay here make sure that you don't have unrealistic expectations - this is an old building and staying here feels more like staying at an old country house than at a traditional hotel. So if you are expecting a typical hotel, this will be quite different. Also, a few things to keep in mind if you are staying in the Superior Double Room (can't speak for the other room since we didn't stay there): - The room is located on the top floor and to get there you need to walk up a wooden staircase with uneven steps. This was not a problem for us but could be for someone with a lot of luggage or mobility issues. - The en suite bathroom does not have a door, only a curtain, so there is not much privacy. Make sure you are comfortable with such arrangement before booking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The beautiful character of the building which is 450 years old, the spaciousness of our room and the hospitality of our hosts.
Cons: Breakfast was wonderful, but unlike the French we prefer fresh milk, and my husband likes muesli. These are very minor criticisms. The fresh produce from the market was wonderful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our host Alain was both welcoming and helpful. The house is delightful, historically interesting and very comfortable. It is situated in a beautiful part of Bergerac.
Cons: No complaints at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely building full of character, perfectly positioned in the heart of old town Bergerac. Top floor room has a nice terrace to sit and read or have a drink or two.
Cons: Not a lot to dislike, perhaps a door to the bathroom (rather than a curtain) for more privacy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Alain got out of his way to help us find the car park, and to lead us back there when we left. Excellent breakfast. Beautiful old house. Highly recommended.
Cons: The only thing is that parking is difficult in the old city. Luckily the hotel had a parking place in a private parking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Le Colombier de Cyrano et Roxane is a delightful find in Bergerac. Alaine and Nicolai are two wonderful, friendly and generous hosts who went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The room was gorgeous with a lovely covered roof terrace. They didnt hesitate to recommend good restaurants within walking distance which turned out to be amazing. Breakfast was lovely and generous, nothing was too much trouble and they were both very sociable and we all tried very hard to speak in both French and English, their English is definately way better than our French! ;) Would highly recommend anyone try this well positioned, character filled house for the history alone but couldnt fault anything. Carolyn and Neil x
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was quirky, full of nooks and crannies. Situated in the old part of the town. So nice we booked for a second night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotels was fabulous, I enjoyed everything about it. The room was comfortable, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was tasty.
Cons: I couldn’t figure out how to use the key to get in but my husband could.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Quirky but lovely small hotel. Well looked after by the lovely Masha . Right on Vieux Pont with the Fabulous Bistro d'en Face opposite.
Cons: A robe would be nice for girlies as the bathroom is across the corridor, but nothing else.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Macha was an excellent host, and cooked us the most amazing French toast in the morning. Would definitely recommend.
4.3 Okay
Pros: The location to the town which is why we booked. 5 minutes walk.
Cons: I sit in the lounge writing this review as it’s quieter than the bedrooms we are all wide awake and it is midnight and not sure what time We shall be allowed to sleep! We booked these rooms on Thursday due to having to change travel plans and needed a night in Bergerac! At no stage anywhere on any of the booking details or confirmation or even mail message from here did it say they had a private party booked in their restaurant , which do note is located directly below all the rooms and outside them. We arrived at 2.30pm to be told the place wasn’t ready yet even though the details stated you can check in from 2.30 pm so we said we we’re happy to go off and have a coffee and told to come back in an hour, still no mention of a private party they were holding under and outside our rooms,! Arrived back an hour later to check in and chill out for a while having travelled to Bergerac before going to explore early evening and get dinner. As we were shown the room the private Birthday party in the restaurant was mentioned but nothing about thumping loud music from then... yes 3.45pm in the afternoon onwards!!! They had it playing whilst setting up It’s now 00.15am it shows no sign of stopping and I have a raging headache! I feel that to have taken this booking was completely greedy and had we have had any warnings prior to arriving as they did send a confirmation message, we would have changed and cancelled and stayed somewhere without a party! I am in disbelief at this and have video sound evidence not that that will make any difference! The music finally finished at 1am but it took till 2am to get quiet and the guests at the party to leave and we had to be up at 6.30am due to a flight which we did mention on check in. When we arranged breakfast for 7.30am . Masha the girl at breakfast hadn’t realised how we had been affected until we explained she tried to be cheery but knew we were not happy. She also informed us it was her last day.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location was convenient over the bridge and you were in the old town. Parking slots in front of the building. Decoration was really personal and unique.
Cons: The stairs were for us a bit challenging as we had quite a lot of luggage. Otherwise no problem.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: - My partner and I loved everything about Maison Raphael Kafka, and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again if we return to Bergerac! - The views from the property are amazing and it is a lovely and short walk across the river to get to the main town. - There is a lovely terrace that overlooks the Dordogne river which we enjoyed whilst playing cards with a glass of wine. - The the entire place is decorated and styled so beautifully and was kept impeccably clean throughout our stay. - The breakfasts were traditionally French and very tasty, and served at whatever time we wanted. Marche is a master at making French toast! - Marche and Raphael were very helpful and friendly, recommending restaurants, researching car hire on our behalf, booking taxis and keeping our luggage for us when we arrived many hours before check-in! - Raphael’s newly opened restaurant/bar is a lovely setting, we ate there one evening and the food was delicious. Would highly recommend eating or at least having a drink here. - We were dubious about the shared bathroom, but we didn’t even come across the other guests and it was well stocked with toiletries and always extremely clean.
Cons: - No lock on the bedroom door, absolutely not an issue for us as the property felt very safe and secure but may bother some guests.

Pros: The place is stunning! Its next to the river and has a beautiful view. The outdoor pool is kept clean and is a good size. The building and interior are amazing. I really couldn't rate this place highly enough and wound recommend to anyone wanting to explore the area surrounding Bergerac.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A unique property beautifully presented by excellent hosts.
Cons: Nothing.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Our hosts were extremely charming however the star of the show was Jason their wonderful black labradour. They are aware that some people are not keen on dogs so we had to sneak him out when we could. The Chateau is quirky, interesting and contains amazing pieces of furniture and ornaments. After 4 days we were still noticing new objects. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommended it.
Cons: A little awkward to find initially as it is in a small one way system.
7.5 Good
Pros: Small chateau overlooking the river. Very quirky and full of antiques and curios. Lovely garden, terraces and outdoor pool.
Cons: A little expensive and no tea or coffee facilities.

Cons: Leaving it !!
7.5 Good
Pros: The room was large and there was a big bed and large walk in shower. The host, Catherine, was very friendly and was very accessible if we needed anything. Breakfast was fresh pastries and jam, with tea or coffee and a fruit skewer. The grounds of the property were lovely with an extensive lawn. We were not able to use the pool as it was closed, but it looked nice and was very clean. The decoration of the room was a little eclectic and the whole property was full of French antiques and novelty items, so it was a bit like living in an antiques shop.
Cons: The curtains in the room were very light and did not block out the light, so we were woken up earlier than we would have liked. Also there was only a small net/lace curtain up at the bathroom window on the ground floor, so if you used it at night with the light on then anyone outside would have been able to see straight into the toilet area (we used it with the light off, but it was very dark so a little challenging!).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a fantastic stay at the stunning La Rebiere d'or, Catherine was a fantastic host, with expert local knowledge, the rooms are beautiful and the grounds, pool and view breathtaking, we'll definitely be back! The perfect romantic spot!

Pros: Everything about the place was top of the range. Just a tranquil delight. The hosts were exceptional and arranged dinner in local restaurants we would never have found. The location actually by the river dordorgne was icing on the whole deal.
Cons: We would not change a thing, but recognise the quirky interior may not appeal to all. We loved it.
