An absolute gem!! Gorgeous setting, beautiful town. View from the pool was immaculate. wish we could have stayed longer! double check how the menu works. we got a set menu, but I have a feeling we should have ordered from the menu card, paid the same price and gotten choice; but food is great!
The food in the restaurant was excellent and the breakfast was also of a good standard. Our room was at the back and overlooking a large store room which was not particularly pleasant. The room was quite dark, dingy and pokey and appeared not to have been redecorated for at least twenty years. The ensuite was small and windowless and the extractor fan did not work, so after a shower it was a bit like a sauna! Also, the bath and toilet were very old and stained so although they were clean, first impressions were not good.
Very friendly at reception especially as I had booked the wrong date and they could fit us in. Very pleasant meals.Comfortable rooms and enjoyed watching the World cup in the TV lounge. No, everything was fine.
pleasant and friendly personnel the room and bathroom were very old and meshy.
very welcoming, clean cosy and efficient with character and charm. no air conditioning, room slightly plain - could be adorned with pictures/prints of local scenery, which is stunning and unspoilt.
I liked the family-run hotel and its restaurant very much. The staff was very friendly. The room was clean and nice, and the shower worked well. No tv in our room, but then we don't go on vacation to watch tv. The meals served in the restaurant were enjoyable. The location is ideal for walks in this part of the Pyrenees. Just a short bus trip from (the much too touristy) Gavarnie village with its fabulous surroundings, and one can have nice walks also starting from the Gèdre village itself. (With a car, more opportunities obviously.)
The hotel is well situated for exploring the Pyrenees area of Cirque de Gavarnie, Pont D'Espagne and Col du Midi. Not all rooms are as featured on the web site - our small double was very basic. An odd smell from the bathroom. The walls are tissue- paper thin.
the beds and the lack of elevators
Nice little room, quality and vintage feel, confortable bed and so on.. town is well located to discover the region (Gavarnie, Pont d'Espagne) Quite isolated (little town).
The hotel itself was very attractive. Old fashioned but well restored. Good bathroom facilities. The breakfast ddid not have any savoury options and there were no tea/ coffee making facilities.
the staff was very helpfull. the rooms were big and beautifully decorated
clean room decorated in good taste, beautiful position of hotel, wonderful village, good sound insulation, friendly and helpful staff, charming grounds food - too expensive, breakfast lacked variety
well renovated . I was pleasantly surprized by the interior of our hotelroom in comparison to the exterior. The manager( Pierre)was also very helpfull. no
Restraunt very good. Parking good. Staff friendly Decor very dated felt needed good clean up. Breakfast poor. Not obvious to find took a while to find I would say it is just before Luz.
The nice location and terrace. Rooms were hugly, not really clean.Food was not what you can expect from French cuisine. Breakfast really very poor, just an croissant and a few slices of grilled ( roasted) baguette, marmelade, butter and coffee or tea ...the poorest breakfast we've ever experienced.
Lovely Terrace by the river for dinner/breakfast with stunning mountain views - clear simple menu well cooked and served - attentive helpful staff
Very Friendly Atmosphere
Location We could not believe how dirty the hotel was - in particular the public areas. The carpets were very badly stained and worn. There was a serious shortage of staff
nothing There was no elavator, the room was very old, neglected and uncomfortable !!!!
friendly staff, nice spacious room, recently renovated
Excellent location for walking. Friendly owner /manager who recommended walks etc Let down by lack of restaurant and other amenities given the rate. (eg. old towels). This is a nice place to stay but there are actually plenty of other hotels in the town (typically in France they do not seem to subscribe to popular websites for bookings!)
Localisation Very small rooms,unconfortable.
excellent view of the Grand Fall, convenient car parking, clean and quiet room It would be very nice if the restaurant serves the dinner
Convenient for walking around Gavarnie. Magnificent view. The restaurant was closed. The reception was closed until 5pm. We were the only people staying there. I have stayed in many more expensive hotels, but I don't think I have ever stayed in a hotel in which I was charged so much and offered so little.
The family who own this hotel are the most warm, welcoming and incredibly helpful people who really made our stay truly memorable and wonderful.
The view It is very expensive for the level of comfort / service provided
Setting was amazing. The view from the bedroom window of the Cirque de Gavarnie was second to none. The family who run hotel were extremely considerate and knowlegdable about the local wildlife and birds, allowing us make the most of our very short stay there.
The service from Christophe (front of house) and Alain (the chef) and their attention to detail, room was comfortable, food was excellent
A good comfortable room supported by attentive staff The only weakness was that the bath did not have a shower screen and it was therefore difficult to keep all the shower water in the bath
The friendly staff, clean and tidy rooms, good food both the breakfasts and in the restaurant in the evening. Central location.
Thomas at the front desk was very outgoing nothing
The hotel was run by people who were committed to offering excellent food and service and doing the best for their guests. The rooms were well serviced and comfortable with plumbing that worked (something that we British cannot take for granted in our own country).
The hotel is extremely quaint with exquisite style and decor. It is situated in the centre of Cauterets and although it does not have its own car park, there are numerous public places nearby. A fantastic well run small hotel. Nothing.
The people running the hotel were really friendly, welcoming and helpful. The accommodation was very comfortable and charming. The restaurant was good value and the quality of the food excellent.
Fantastically nice and well-run family hotel. Good service (family), excellent atmosphere and super WiFi. Great experience. Drinks were offered, because they could not provide us a room with a bath. Nice gesture. None.
Centrally located. Reception staff were particularly helpful. The overall room size was more than adequate. Breakfast good value for money. Bathroom was rather small
Very helpful and friendly manager
Wonderful welcoming staff, clean comfortable rooms, excellent fresh and home cooked meals, and perfect location for exploring the Pyrenees.
We wanted to be in the Pyrénées and this hotel was perfectly situated as a base for day hikes.
The room was clean and located near the center of the small town. Breakfast was over six euros for a coffee, juice, yogurt, and a croissant. I felt cheated. There is a store across the street and a bakery on the corner which are better alternatives.
Clean, tidy and excellent location. If only the room also had a bath!
Central position but Quiet.Restaurant Les Templiers near the fortified Church excellent, well worth a visit.
Friendly and helpful staff. Welcoming environment in general, despite not adhering to the arrival time. Nicely appointed room & great shower. Good price. Convenient (& attractive) location for exploring the area. Parking not ideal, but it was easy enough to find a space just up the road (and it was easy to stop outside and check-in/unload). Luz St Sauveur was about a 15 minute walk (past some vicious sounding dogs!) or a very short drive. View from rooms at the back of the hotel not up to much but view from those at the front must be spectacular.
Close to Cirq the Gavarnie
Almost nothing good... Except that it was relatively clean for this price range. (But the towels were dirty... Gross) - They wake you up every morn @ 10am by knocking on your door to clean the room. No, there is not a “do not disturb” sign anywhere. And They will not clean your room in the afternoon, so you have to vacate each morning for them to clean it - No free internet, as promised. They provide access to Orange Wifi, but to use it you have to pay Euro 4.50 per hour. When we asked them about it, they said that the wifi is free, but the internet access isn’t free
Location, character & view
Very clean and at least our room was recently renovated to modern standards. Was better than expected by photos. Incredible views to the mountains on the outer side of building. At 58 euros a night very good value. Restaurant was ok for dinner, breakfast was basic. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Food was good & homely. The Hotel & accommodation was dated & shabby. Limited Street parking.
good food in the restaurant even if decor looks a bit cheesy, great view out of front rooms, good location 10 minutes walk out of town so quiet rough sheets and one long pillow in the double bed, could be brought into 21st century, breakfast not worth it
Lovely view across the valley. Quiet at night. Spacious and comfortable room. Easy access to private offroad parking.
Panoramic et des Bains is a quiet and clean hotel with a good location for travellers. The shower is very very small and unpleasant and the bathroom is so small that you can seat on the toilet and wash your face at the same time.
Fair choice of food in the restaurant at reasonable prices.Quiet The Hotel annexe we stayed in was a little shabby, but clean, and the staff made up for this shortcoming
Quiet - away from noisy part of town. Near to great modern spa - should be advertised as part of the attraction. Good location for walking. Good value including food. Friendly staff. No bar apparently available during day. No tea making in rooms. Fortunately weather was good as residents lounge very gloomy and basic.TV Should have some international channels (at least bbc world or other news). Menu in restaurant too limited but food good.
Location is out of town on a hillside next to a raging river. Pleasant staff and very polite, if a little remote. Reception is deserted - all transactions take place in the bar/restaurant over the road. It is a quaint old place. The hotel is very dated, quite shabby in places - shower wasn't very nice, but bed was clean. The menu wasn't very inviting so we ate down the road at a similar hotel.
