Location Nasty carpet
The hotel is in an excellent location, within easy walking distance of the old town with its shops and tavernas. The breakfast on offer is of very poor quality and the total absence of any staff to clear away dishes means that the breakfast room becomes somewhat squalid.
Location - close enough to the city, the room was clean and spacious except the bath that can fit to babies or extra thin persons No pool in april, no view from my room. I would rate it as 3 stars. I stayed at the hotel only one night, so it was OK
Location was excellent. Really close to the old town and the beach. The staff were helpful and communication before and during our stay was very good. Breakfast could have been more varied. There was limited staff during breakfast time which meant that often tables were not cleared out quickly enough and the food was not replenished in time. But when asked they responded straightaway. Also, there were only steps at the entrance of the hotel which meant that we had to lift our suitcases ourselves, but again, when asked for help the concierge was happy to help.
good price, good location, couldn't have more expectations
Very good service staff on reception, beautiful main hall and little garden All rooms and other premises need renovation, furniture is seem like relative new but not convenient. Air conditioner works strange, it is impossible to setup it do not blow directly to the bed. Room service is careless. Parking near the hotel after 3.00-4.00 p.m. is very difficult. There is no gym in the hotel. Definitely not four stars.
Achillion Palace was an ideal hotel for our holiday, close to the beach, right in the middle between the old and new areas. The old town was a 2 minute walk, loads of shops, tavernas etc. Hotel was perfectly comfartable, clean and the staff friendly. We had a great stay in Rethymnon.
Friendly helpful staff. Large, nice room with balcony. Good location if you like to be both near the town and also have access to beach/seafront. Very good value for money. Good to have a fridge in room. Room was cleaned only 3 times out of the 6 days - I believe the cleaners finished at 3.30pm, but when I arrived back to my room just past 3pm, the room still was not cleaned. It may have been one of the last rooms on the cleaners schedule, but is it that unusual that guesrs wish to spend some time in room in the afternoons (given the heat outside!)? Picture of hotel in publicity material a bit misleading - I thought it might be possible to have some kind of sea/harbour view, but the hotel is located off the sea front on a street overlooking the road and other buildings on opposite side. No tea and coffee making facilities - not even access to a kettle.
Loved the swimming pool on the roof! Did not like having a smoking room. That is the only problem I had with the hotel.
Great room at a great price. they need to extend their WI-FI to the rooms. now they have it only on the lobby.
The location, swimming pools, gardens, general upkeep of the buildings. The air conditioning in the hotel and the rooms was not working efficiently, especially in the restaurant. The food and beverages were not up to the standard of a 4 star all inclusive. No evening entertainment as advertised.
Good service and pleasant surraunding. The food was good. our first experience of all inclusive hotel, We liked also the pool gymnastic .and guided exercice dance (one step etc.) Heavy disco musik just outside of our room.
The hotel was a nice facility and they had a great breakfast The hotel was a nice facility but we were unhappy with the room. The bed was 2 singles pushed together and was extremely hard. They also only turned the a/c on from 5:30 pm until midnight - the first few days were hot so room was very stuffy and did not cool down enough for sleeping
The room was excellent, the staff very friendly and in general a very enjoyable experience. The Beach could loose some of the chisel but the water was clean and everything else absolutely fine. Avoid the Taverna, it's ridiculously expensive and for less than half the money you get much better food across the road.
nice hotel ,though it is a bit outdated but nice staff and very comfortable ,nice location just off the highway ,so very good if you have your own car a bit expensive for the product offered
beach everything was just great
Great hotel Beach was more stones than sand
That we could leave b/c I rented a car to get away from the hotel/ Where do I start. There's not enough space here to tell all. Resort ry large and very very busy. Staff doesn't care about screwing over one couple since resort is so busy it doesnt matter to them. We generally don't complainabout anything at hotels, but had to complain about a few things when you pay 192 Euro/night. A/c didnt work X 2 nights. Given twin beds pushed together. Chck tripadvisor
The hotel can't be qualified as 5 stars establishment. It's understaffed (one person at the reception; nobody at the bar), no concierge, horrible breakfast. The "5 star" facilities are shared with The Pearl, the four star older hotel. So called "Wellness Center" is a bad joke: there are 3 delapidated bicycles and nothing else. I never stayed at 3 star hotel but it probably looks like this one. Beware ! Checking out I have to remind the receptionist to give me back deposit for ... beach towels. I had to wait few minutes for it. Leaving I remind them to give me also deposit for remote control to access the parking area. Reluctantly the receptionist gave it back. We left charger for Ds and after calling them next day nobody helped. Etc. The list of wrong things can be much longer.
Staff was very friendly and kind. Room and facilities were comfortable and of nice style. Very nice view over the sea and to Rehtymno. The restaurant was excellent, particularly the buffet dinner. The cleaning lady was passing too late in the day (only at 15h00-16h00) and the work could be improved (a bit of dust left in some spots and a cleaning mop forgotten once). Some other spots in the hotel could be better taken care of. These are details which should be improved in a 5-star hotel.
Decoration, cleanliness, friendly staff. Too much light in the room at night: blue light from the TV irridiating all the room, red light from the mini hi-fi, red light from the card box at the entrance, white curtains that leave light from outside pass through. Sorry but I like to have to light at all when I sleep so we had to remove the electricity card to have the least light as possible but it was too hot in the room because we could not have the air-conditionning. Also we heard all night long the noise of the air-conditionning of the neighbouring room.
The locatoin is great , and the hotel style is very modern & stylish The room was too small , and the WC & the bath is inside the room without doors (only WC has a door for decoration)
Breakfast was very good and although rooms are fairly small they were well kitted out and very clean. Pools were very nice - beware of very early morning sunlounger reservers (you know the nationality). Had a minor hitch with our first room which had a disabled persons bathroom which meant everytime you showered you couldnt use the bathroom through fear of slipping as water covered entire bathroom floor. Bathroom in 2nd room was much better/less deadly.
I found that the young lady and the man working down at the Spa unfriendly and they seemed like they only wanted to assist you if there was some personal gain, e.g. appoint for facial, message etc. I asked them for a towel and they seemed upset about my asking. If you want to promote Spa and Relax you need to change something, you have the right facilities, but something is really lacking.
Superb resort hotel, staff friendly and efficient, food and wine excellent and varied, easy access to town and services. Nothing that we found.
close to the beach, very polite staff.
Although not in the 5 star league to which I am accustomed, my stay at the APR was very pleasant with a great view of the sea and the mountains in the distance. The staff were very helpful and efficient.
The sets on the beach must be included in the cost of the hotel staying
The hotel layout gives a great sense of space. All eating areas well served and good value food. As a 4 star I would expect fresh fruit juice and coffee at breakfast not some instant mixture that did not taste good. I requested seaview for 3 rooms booked but not one was offered.
Hotel was OK, well located with all amenities you can expect. Breakfast was average but OK. Staff was a bit constraingnant with the rules like closing the sunshade and stuff.
Perfect location, very clean, friendly staff, cheap
very good relationship between price and quality. Very nice staff and excellent breakfast.
it is a fantastic hotel.
Hospitality and hotel staff helpfull and competent. Rooms with sea view noisy, rooms with garden view no privacy concerning the rooms by side
Tasteless and overpriced food. I was expecting a better room for the rate.
Service during breakfast : 10, Parking:9, Room cleaning: 10
Personnel trying to speak Russian and very friendly In general hotel overpriced and old. Music is playing till 23.00
Staff was all very friendly. Bit rundown, especially towards the end of the holiday season.
lovely rooms, good power shower, really nice place
The location & view from the pool is excellent & the staff were very friendly Bed was quite hard but the staff provided additional softer mattresses. The lighting in the bathroom was a bit harsh & uncomplimentary!
The Palazzo Grecco was a beautiful hotel. It was a pleasure to stay there. The room was delightful with matching furniture and the standard of cleanliness excellent. The view from our room was spectacular. There was nothing about the Hotel we did not like during our stay, the only improvements we would suggest if that it would have nice to have some more comfortable chairs to enjoy the view from our terrace, and it would have been nice to have been able to buy drinks and snacks.
Stunning views. The rooms are simple but well decorated. The place where it is located is really nice. I booked for 3 night through booking.com but couldn't make the three days together so had to do 2 different reservations with two different rooms and differents prices. The most expensive room was not available so we were given a room for the 3 nights, which was great so that we didn't have to move. I didn't like that we were charged two prices: 95€ and 75€ for the same room. Very unfair!!
The rooms were brightly decorated, the staff were extremely friendly and the location was perfect. Just a short walk to the beach and restaurants. The kitchenette could have been stocked slightly better. There was not enough cutlery for two people to eat. Nor were there utensils for the fryingpan. A toaster would have been nice.
We loved the palazzo greco. It is a fantastic new hotel. Stylish and total clean rooms, an amazing designer bathroom!!! The breakfast fast not that big but ok. (Bread, jam, honey, cereals, cheese, ham, tomatoes, eggs, cake, melon, fresh juice, milk and coffee) The room had a new small kitchen with dishes and refrigerator. The pool was nice, too. The best hotel in agia galini The air conditioning was not working really good. It was slow and not very cold.
Good standard of fittings in the room, including good shower which we have found to be rare in Crete. Good location with great view and close to restaurant area of Agia Galini. Relatively small room with little sound insulation.
Noisy hotel, rooms dirty, bed never done but the breakfast was good and the staff a bit kind
it's a normal hotel with a beautiful view Not so good price/quality ratio.
Probably the nicest hotel in Agia Galini. Very nice room with an astonishing view. Very nice breakfast. Very friendly and helpful owners No cooking equipment provided in the apartment
Close to the town without being in a noisy area. Lovely building, great rooms, and really nice small pool. The day staff/manager was nice, but the overnight/late receptionist was a little unfriendly at times. Otherwise, a lovely place to stay.
Dirty place oposite the hotel the unbilded ground. Ugly view.
Close to the old town No special view
good for parking, attractive building and room, well maintained not as convenient to the old town as we would have liked, small pool, no internet
The location is good. The rooms are too dark, the pool is very small.
very clean and nice staff nothing at all
Very clean and convenient, comfortable and well presented. Staff pleasant and helpful. Breakfast a little disappointing. eggs were cold, and orange drink artificial.
The hotel staff, nothing was too much trouble Not enough tables for breakfast
Everything at Palazzo Vecchio was great! My wife and I stayed there for 2 days while visiting the Greek Islands and we were very pleased with the nice and helpful staff, and clean and well kept rooms. There was a wall being built around a planned parking lot for the hotel. This was not an issue for us though as we still managed to find parking near the hotel and we were upper in the morning for breakfast as the workers were beginning to work.
Very nice location, very friendly staff.
the room was very nice. the staf was exellent. but the morning breakfast was a little cheap in my opinion. could have been better with a little more choice
The wiati staff and front desk were very helpful and friendly. No irons to checkout. Air conditioning not available although it was warm out.
Very clean hotel: the cleaning ladies were there until very late and did their work very very good, relaxing enviroment: beautiful surroundings around the hotel and the "sister" hotel Creta Star": gardens and trees are fantastic and very clean and the view of some places in the hotel very nice, pleasant stuff (reception-restaurant-cleaning ladies-room service), extra tip the small pool, that make you feel like your home because the customers dont prefer so much! The rooms are a little old, but everything looks in perfect contition-colour-functioability, so it not a problem at all. Nothing to bother, maybe a small renvation at the pool area (more beautiful chairs-pool bar) that it would match with the perfect gardens around them! But not something 100% necessary.
Everything in the hotel was perfect! We came across the most polite staff, the most amazing chef and overall it was a great experience!!! Great beach and nice view of the sea from the room!!(choose room with sea view) Slight renovation in the bathroom to match a 5* hotel
This hotel is really a good base if you plan to visit Crete in 4 days, like we did. The farthest you could go are the Samarian Gorges, 2 hours away, for some hiking. But you can also get to Chania in 50 minutes, or Rethymno in 15, and these cities are worth a visit! One of the nicest in Greece. Heraklio is only an hour away, though the only thing to see there is the archeological site of Knossos. The hotel is part of an all-included chain with a good reputation. This is reflected in good service, and a very nice accomodation. The buffet is very good at the hotel, in terms of quantity and variety of food. But if you're not the type of person who likes this concept of a food buffet, than you should absolutely get to the small nearby village of Panormo (5 minutes by car), and eat at one of the traditional family restaurants there.
The bedrooms were very clean and comfortable. Layout of grounds, beaches and pools were good. Food acceptable The bar was understaffed. We were at a table with all inclusive people, the barman came to check that we were not being given drinks by people who were all inclusive, I felt very insulted by this. Waiters cleared away our table before we had returned from the buffet with our main course, evening meal.
There many things that deserve to be mentioned. First, the ideal location, not far from the city of Rethymnon, has its merits (peace and quiet) coupled with night life opportunities in the nearby places. Next, the friendly attitude of the staff (restaurant) has created a positive atmosphere of feeling at home. Then the menu for both breakfast and dinner can be mentioned, which indeed was rich and generous. Finally, the enormous swimming pools (4 in total) and the variety of activities (sport and other) as well as the spacious and really beautiful gardens made our holiday vacations, quite an experience. The bureaucratic attitude of the hotel manager. He was quite inflexible and inelastic towards our demand for a change to a room with a sea view.
seemed to have staff shortage, bar man disappeared a lot from the pool bar (only bar), left it unmanned, waited 20 mins for bar man in the morning to buy coffee, same in the afternoon to buy a drink, another 20 mins wait.
The staff at the reception were great. All of them really helpful. Breakfast is very good with different kinds of styles (eggs and bacon, fruits, cereals, bread, etc.). Our room was very good and very clean and comfortable. The balcony was great also. When I had made the reservation by Booking, I had to pay for an extra bed because I have 2 children and the room only accepted 3 persons. But when I arrived there, I realised that we had a king size bed (for my wife and me) and another queen size (sofa) for the 2 children. So, I payed for something that was unnecessary.
the hotel is in the city don't need a car. Nice food! Neibours a bit noisy and no beach around...
The apartment was very comfortable, great views of the pool and the sea, would recommend this hotel to family & friends.
Excellent rooms, with ocean view and great balconys. Clean and comfortable, nice king size bed, places for the clothes, dresses. The restaurant was nice, although only for breakfast. Nice staff. The pool was nice and quiet. Close to the city, thats good. The spa and fitness center was not finished yet, unfortunetaly. They told us it will open next year... The kitchen at the room was great but it was not possible to make a dinner there, we didnt need it as we went to town eating at the restaurants, but if I had kids I would prefer ti make som dinner at the kitchen after the kids were going to sleep... that would be impossible.
It is renovated in July 2009, very promising five star hotel near the center of Rethymnon. I suggest to rent a bike in order to enjoy the city. Stunning view from the balcony of all the suites. In total i suggest it without hesitation. The beach of Rethymnon is on the other side of the city. The beach near the hotel is poor, but i don't think that the hotel can do much about it.
Macaris is a lovely stylish hotel! Suites are very big and so nice decorated! Personel very polite and helpful !The view from verandas and from the roof garden just breathtaking!!
location and sea view
Rooms (in our case two suites with kitchen) are spacious, modern, with wonderfull balcony, fitted with all the necessary; Swimming pool area was sufficient during our stay but might be small if the hotel would be full. Breakfast is simple, staff is friendly, service quick. Parking is free, but in the street uphill. Hotel is difficult to find: one unclear sign on the main road, no sign on the hotel, which looks from the outside like an office building. On arrival our reservation (one double suite) was not available so we received two suites. As such nice, but we had hoped to have one suite with the children. Both nights the fuses blew which the second night couldn't be repaired so we had to move the children to the living in the other suite.
Staff at the hotel were excellent, particularly Eleni. It is located centrally in the old town of Rethymnon and is close to many of the sites. Room was small for 3 people. I was the 3rd person and slept on a sofa bed downstairs (split level room). Although the room had a kitchenette, washing up liquid, sponge and kitchen towels were not in room and had to be asked for to wash up.
wonderful courtyard with a small pool, orange- and lemontrees, very friendly staff, central location, good wifi connection, nicely decorated rooms
The location of the hotel right in the center of the old part of rethymnion. The rooms have been upgraded with plenty of storage available. The grounds are very nice although a little squashed.
Clean, quiet, nice set-up, handy. Limited wireless....
Location was fantastic in the heart of the old town but near to the beach and the harbour. Our room wes very clean, tidy and the staff were great. The splash pool was fanatstic for an early morning dip.I would highly recommend this hotel we will be back there very soon!
Very modern and stylish hotel with excellent service and great central location.
excellent location! Beautiful room! Very helpfful staff -
Position, location, facilities Staff were not welcoming. We felt out of place and believe we were the only Brits there! On arrival, initially we had a few problems with the room and facilities and these were not dealt with properly. I would not recommend this hotel for a lone couple. A group may be welcome though?
The room was well designed but the bathroom smelt really bad making the whole studio smell musty and mouldy. We sneezed and coughed all night
The facility is great, access to sea and walkways were excellent. The music one night was too loud & lasted too long.
Layout of the resort and atmosphere were excellent, reception staff and entertainment staff very good, the location is very scenic. Lovely pools, great for children, and wonderful swimming in the cove. Enjoyed the spa and even the gym facilities. Everything was clean and well maintained. The food was not very good quality and the buffet offer was quite repetitive. Chicken wings, liver and tongue for one evening meal. Fruit at dinner limited to melon all week. We were happy to go out for dinner.
Location of the hotel is fabulous, isolated but of outstanding natural beauty, albeit difficult access without own transport. Children liked the animation programme in particular. It is an 80s construction which apparently has been neglected for a while, that is to say the whole complex needs a bit of refreshing. Although the variety of food was remarkable we did not approve of the higher-than-average use of tinned fruits, vegetable, and juices - especially not as this is Crete!
repeting drainage problems trying to avoid receiving credit card no food after 21:30 and poor coffee
vVisited Plakias the staff did what they have to do and nothing more
Location, location, location. It was very quiet and was very pleasant for going for a walk, staying at the pool or swimming in the deep crystal clear waters. The fact that the bed sheets are changed every other day (I assume that is not a characteristic of a 4-star (out of 5) hotel as you have rated it in your website) and the room towels every third day (unless the cleaning crew thinks they are dirty (these are the words the receptionist used)-in that case they will change them every other day. However, we requested them to be changed after staying two nights and they were changed immediately.
amazing place and location, very tastefully done, interesting architecture and layout of resort, swimming pools overlooking the sea and surrounded by mountains. just beautifully done in an amazing location. wish i had planned more time to stay there !!!!!
The view is spectacular. Breakfast buffet offers a wide variety, one of the best we've had. This hotel may have once been 4 stars but no longer. The older gentleman at the reception is a disrespectful, arrogant individual who should be fired. However, the rest of the reception staff was quite helpful. We received the room and it was clearly unclean (used towels, unemptied bathroom trash can containing filthy toilet paper, unchanged bed linens, bed side table with sticky residue if you know what I mean i.e. bring your own UV lamp). One morning, we were in the room when the cleaning ladies appeared. They basically only swept the floor. We had to ask the front desk for clean towels. The old reception guy asked the other desk clerk to deal with us because he couldn't care less. Many other negatives but no more space to write!
