Pros: This is an exceptionally lovely place to stay. We were warmly greeted and shown around the house. Our room was very beautifully furnished and large. As a bonus, Frederic recommended a very good local restaurant situated in a stunning village. Breakfast was generous and a quantity of fresh bread and pastries made it very special. Frederic has a great eye for detail and presentation. He is a most charming host. We would certainly come again.
Cons: no comments here. We only found everything charming and beautiful here
Pros: The authentic French experience, with the accommodation and the host.
Pros: This is our second stay here lovely quirky place to stay. Our host Fredric is exceptional very warm an welcoming. Plenty of parking good breakfast.
Pros: Our Host Frederic could not have been more welcoming. A really lovely man. The whole Manor is decorated with all sorts of paintings and delightful and interesting objects. Our room was totally different to modern standard hotel rooms. It was perfectly clean with all the usual facilities, but decorated in a wonderful eccentric style. We loved it. The breakfast was beautifully laid out and the breads and pastries were delicious and the fresh made coffee was perfect. A top class French breakfast. Well done Frederic. We would recommend you to anyone passing near Alencon.
Cons: Our only disappointment was that there were no restaurants open in the village in the evening. So you would have to drive to Alencon to dine. This would mean one of your party would have to forgo enjoying a nice French wine. Drink driving in France is, quite rightly, very strict.
Pros: The place was great, with charm and character, and very comfortable. Easy to access and very close to Alençon. Our host was welcoming, charming and really kind, perfect! Excellent breakfast. Really recommended!
Pros: Beautiful and fascinating old building - rooms full of character and charm. Our host , Frederick was so welcoming and helpful.
Pros: Perfect for a stop-over on our way to our holiday destination. The house was amazing - Frederick was very friendly and charming - nothing was too much trouble! Our room was very clean, the bed was comfortable and, even better, the bathroom contained shampoo, shower gel, make-up and nail varnish remover and cotton-wool and the all-important hairdryer. So thoughtful! Very happy with our stay and we would definitely stay here again.
Pros: Beautiful, clean, loads of character. Very friendly host.
Pros: Beautiful location & wonderful property ideal for overnight stop.host was fantastic.
Pros: Comfort,welcome, unique property
Situated in Bérus, a 15-minute drive from Alençon,LA RIVIERE offers barbecue facilities. This 4-star bed and breakfast offers a garden and free WiFi access. A continental breakfast is served every morning at the property. Many activities can be enjoyed in the surroundings including a 18-hole golf course, horse riding and swimming. Pros: Really lovely place in a beautiful setting. The hosts were were very helpful. Wonderful Continental breakfast with homemade jams. Very peaceful setting.
Cons: My only suggestions are to perhaps fit a lock on the bathroom door by the pool and wifi is not not that great if you have a internet obsessed teenager!
Pros: Lovely location. Owners Eric and Catherine were very welcoming and helpful. In the evening we had a lovely salad+dessert+wine for 25 euro - sitting in the sun looking at a wonderful view across the fields. The property is old and beautifully restored. The room was spacious and spotless. We had a very good continental breakfast in the morning.
Cons: We were told we would be sharing the bathroom with one other person which we weren't expecting but it didn't really matter.
Pros: Beautifully restored old farm house close to the main road but far enough away to be totally quiet with a lovely country feel. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming and spoke just enough English to make things easy. We had a light evening meal of bread, cheese and cold cuts with a lovely bottle of red which was very reasonably priced, after which we sat in the garden to soak up the evening sun. I would definitely stay there again an would recommend it.
Pros: Lovely rural location & attractively restored old buildings. Shared bathroom was not a problem as I was the only guest. Helpful & friendly owners.
Cons: A bit off the beaten track; in itself a good thing, but it might be very hard to find in the dark. Breakfast a little bit sparse.
Pros: Great couple who ran it . Only a few Kms outside the town for an evening meal
Pros: Catherine and Eric were the most amazing hosts, their house is set in a beautiful location and is an amazing experience
Cons: Nothing to change
Pros: Peaceful, traditional French rural hospitality
Cons: Stairs very difficult - urgently need a handrail. Very difficult for older people both going up and coming down.
Pros: Very friendly and welcoming hosts. The setting was lovely and the house a beautifully restored farmhouse. Our room was very clean and comfortable and we had an excellent nights sleep after a long drive. Breakfast was delicious too.
Cons: We liked everything.
Pros: Perfect location with perfect hosts. We loved staying there. Merci beaucoup
When you stay at Le Gasseau in Saint-Leonard-des-Bois, you'll be on the riverwalk and 7 minutes by car from Jardins de la Mansonière. Featured amenities include multilingual staff and a library. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: We needed a stop off point for a long cycle ride. We arrived truly knackered and received a friendly welcome, a comfortable and spacious room, a nice little bar to have beers with friendly staff - even bought vinegar for my sore throat, and then delicious food. And our bikes were completely safe
Pros: Nice place, garden and village
Cons: Cold room, staff not very welcoming but good meal in restaurant
Pros: A very relaxing breakfast, with a good choice of available.
Pros: Great location in Les Alpes Mancelles.
Cons: To say it has a restaurant is an exaggeration. The receptionist was the cook. Facility had an empty ghostlike feel and was unattended for much of the day. Would not stay again.
Pros: Breakfast was usual continental standard. The surrounding countryside was lovely. Staff were pleasant. and helpful
Cons: Access was easier than we had been led to believe. Although the Adventure park might have been suitable for some the attendant crowds were not to our taste.
Pros: The hotel is not accessible between 1100-1900 by car, the hotel and booking, com must provide this kind of information WIFI was almost not existent The room and bathroom had only one electric outlet
Cons: Inconvenience of not accesing the hotel by car Wifi not existent Only one electric outlet in the whole room
Pros: Beautiful hotel in a stunning rural setting. We stayed for one night on our way home, the room was large, very clean and comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were both good.
Pros: The hotel is in a rural location so it's a few minutes drive to the nearest village in either direction. We had breakfast which was fine typically french/continental hotel style. We had dinner in the local town. Ideal stopover on our journey south.
Cons: No tea or coffee facility in room.
Pros: On a stopover en-route to the south of France. Had a room perfect for our needs (we were travelling with 2 dogs). There was only one staff member present when we stayed and she was wonderful. Made a huge effort at short notice to cater for my wife in the restaurant (who is pescatarian). The hotel is not a luxury facility, it is functional and aimed at outward bound activities, its location and situation is excellent and the property is highly attractive and spotlessly clean and well kept. Couldn't speak highly enough of it and would happily recommend it
Pros: The location
Cons: We didn`t expect to have to wait until 5 pm to check in

Cons: We got what we paid for. How can yo comment
Pros: Great hosts great value for money!
Pros: A bit of old France! Excellent food and inexpensive drinks. Don't expect a lift!!
Pros: Very good value and friendly owner.
Pros: The owner, Didier, is charming and could do enough to help us. The restaurant and bar are excellent value for money and the food is really good. Breakfast was simple but perfect for our requirements.
Cons: Its unfair to say we didn't like anything, the rooms are basic, but clean and comfortable.
Pros: Able to have an evening meal in the resturant shortly after arrival. Good choice of food and exellent value for money (4 courses).
Pros: Very nice staff.
Cons: Old house with old bathroom which can be cleaner
Pros: Staff and location both perfect. Easy to find with parking right outside the door. Dog friendly and excellent value for money. All in all a great experience.
Cons: The bedding was not great, bottom sheet not fitted and therefor rucked up during the night. A small kettle in the room would have been nice, but not essential.
