overall the hotel was nice, its a Hilton. it was spacious and there are things on site like restaurants and a cafe for you. the staff was great, management- not so much. location was far from the center of queenstown... a $40 cab ride. you had to reserve the hotel shuttle (which filled up during popular times) or take a $10 water taxi. kind of inconvenient. lastly, we had to leave early due to a family emergency and the management refused the credit us or help in any way.
Good bed & room but overlooked construction site as well as lake but view was limited. Friendly & efficient staff. Decor too dark Wi fi not free in rooms A bit far out of town
Location but ypu need a free shuttle or a $10 water taxi per person to get to town The credit card fee.
The apartment offered enough space and privacy for 4 singles males to travel together in comfort. A very valuable attribute. No in-room clothes washing machine (given we a skiiers it would have been a great healp) albeit facilities were available in hotel.
The views of Queenstown where amazing, the rooms were spacious and adequate for what we needed and good price. The kitchens needs a liitle spucing up.
The surprise of the quality, i had stayed there years ago and it was very ordinary the refurbishing is great
Our meal and restaurant staff we're very good and price, excellent, room good size, bed fine.Car parking but was full except for the one we got, if any later would have missed out. interior of room a bit shabby, redecorating would help. Staff at front desk could be more friendly and helpful.
The view from the room was amazing. The restaurant staff fantastic.
Price, large clean room Little bit outdated
rooms are really huge WiFi is only working in the lobby but you still have to pay a per-hour fee
Brilliant Views, large rooms, great balcony, walking distance to town, restaurant was nice and the room rates were very reasonable Reception staff made an error with my check in, therefore giving another key to a group of young snowboarders who barged in on me sleeping. Hotel spa needs a facelift
View from the rooms We used the 2bdrm apartments, and the kitchen facilities were very poor. No serving utensils or plates to serve food on, no bowls to make a salad, no cooking utensils, there was an oven, but no trays or dishes to use in it. Very disappointing as we'd just come from an apartment in Wanaka which was excellent with all such facilities. I passed this information onto the front desk.
Staff were excellent and well presented the shower over the bath - it should be separate
All staff were very polite& helpful. Hotel was very convenient for location.
It was everything fine. The views were very relaxing
I like that is walking distance to town but still quiet, quick and easy check in, friendly efficient staff, next to the bus stop.
after upgradeing the room we had everything was excellent , very good location, close to center we got good rate from booking .com, and on arrival they gave us room which was worst then hostel, + durty + very updated and old, we were chocked ,but they said that this what you will get for cheap price in their hotel, but for 10NZD per day they gave us very nice room with beautiful view to lake, we felt cheated at first and would never booked this place but it ended well
Promptness of staff and the value for money, all features were excellent. It was all good.
location, helpful staff room a bit dated, No breakfast plan
The location was fine. Beyond that... wasn't much to speak of. The rooms were not very clean. When booking, it was a little unclear as to what we were booking. The front desk gal in the evenings wasn't very helpful when asking for directions.
Our room was spacious and had a lovely view of the lake and mountains. Just a short walk to nearby shops and restaurants. The staff were friendly and helpful.
It was close to town and provided real value for money in the sense that we required a budget room closed to town. The room fitted the requirement perfectly
For the price, it was perfect. The room was a bit dated but clean. The location was a five minute walk to the center of town and the view of the lake and the Remarkables was gorgeous.
We had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel
The View from our room was amazing, and spacious, we were upgraded, we had his & hers basins & an awesome spa bath!, The location was so handy toqueenstown The bed was uncomfortable, the air was too dry from the heater/ No air conditioning, there were no gowns in our room when we arrived & the fry pan was loosing it's teflon coating so we had to get another one through reception along with gowns.
I liked the location and breathtaking views no
I loved the under floor heating in the bathroom and the bathrobes were also very nice. The room was tidy and hasd lovely mood lighting. Very relaxing. It would of been an extra bonus to have had slippers. The mini bar could of had a few more selections
Location and facilities
The area of the room The window was to small for the room. There was a door connecting the room to another witch wasn't conveniently sealed so we could ear the noise of the other room. The first night we couldn't sleep because of the noise of the people that party next door till 5:30 am. In the morning we complain at the reception, they guaranteed it wouldn't happen again. The next night it happen again, and even with our phone calls to the reception through the night and they didn't stop. If the door was to be well sealed this wouldn't happened. next morning we left!
Excellent service at reception - willing to help us when ever we asked at any time... Location of spa - we expected this to be outside on a deck overlooking the mountains...however it was enclosed in a room off the gym.....which is not really keeping with what Queenstown is all about...
The layout of the hotel. The TV was old and dated.
the service was outstanding hotel staff was very friendly the pool tempreture was bit of a let down was to cold, also it said there was an indoor pool, not even half the pool was inside or undercover it cant be classed as an indoor pool. other than that it was all good.
Overall a nice experience. As to the restaurant: do not rush the otherwise excellent dishes through, but let people have a break between courses.
Facilites were great - pool, gym, sauna and restaurant Didn't get any sun on balcony
Just the convenience of everything after being on the road for 3 weeks to sleep in a comfy bed was lovely nice room view from Forest wing needed a map on arrival to locate where everything was. soon sorted with a walk around
great location and views, warm, friendly and helpful staff
Staff were very friendliness and helpful I booked a room which included the breakfast (part of the deal) and the breakfast was added to my bill which I had to get removed. Also, some items were incorrectly added to my bill which I hadn't authorised.
Staff were friendly and helpful when asked questions The buffet were poor. It was not upto the international standard.
Friendly helpful staff, nicely appointed, great view Free wifi was limited
Not enough wifi.
They Upgraded my room from a kingsize to a beautiful 3 bedroom villa at no extra charge. And staff were very friendly
Great value for money - many attractions in Queenstown - Heritage offers free bus into town centre only 10 minute walk away - great staff really helpful - free parking - pool, spa also a day spa We weren't there long enough
An excellent venue for our group of friends ro spend a luxurious Christmas break. The washing machine & tumble drier were put to good use as we had already been tracelling for 3 weeks. The exchange rate made it more expensive than when I booked.
The setting was perfect - beautiful grounds, snow capped mountains, fantastic views etc. The staff were exceptionally helpful and our 11 year old was also made to feel welcome.
Excellent location. Helpful and friendly staff. None to mention
The hotel was adequate, clean and comfortable. The location is excellent being within easy walking distance of the town facilities Being downgraded without any prior correspondance about this was insulting. I would have booked elsewhere if I had known.
location and pleasant staff
proximity to town, bath in room was nice, as was the spa, having a safe in the room was good, plenty of services within the hotel, i.e. bar, restaurant and internet facilities there are only two computers to access the internet, everyone wanted to use them, hard to get on at any time of the day
Great location and beautiful property
The location is the best. The hotel is quite old, need some renovaltion.
The location is very central None
The staff were excellent, they made us feel at home from the minute we walked through the door. We had no complaints at all.
The room was very clean. Nothing uncomfortable.
Closeness to CBD.Clean bed and bathroom.Heaps of storage room. Lack of clean filtered air in the hallways.
good facilities - restaurants, laundry etc Offered gluten free. Good location we were able to walk to all Queenstown entertainments. Room was not very immune from noise from hallway
Very helpful concierge.
Good location, comfortable room. Cooked buffet breakfast not very hot.
Central location They couldn't ind our reservation
Parking was an additional cost as well as WiFi.
the room service menu was fairly priced, and same with the items from the room fridge the spa pool was good, but was disappointed that the saunas were separated into male & female, and were situated in the bathroom.and the bathroom in the room smelt like urine from when we arrived
Good location, only 10 minutes walk to the center. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Dont understand why the spa pool only is opened for 4 hours.
I messed upo the booking and both the Hotel and the booking agency very kindly allowed my reservation to be changed all at the same rate. Nothing
The garden was nice, the room was as expected. Yes, the dining was expensive, when there should have been a range of prices at each meal, eh. Ridges in QT, has 3 options for b'fast, starting with the budget continential b'fast at $8.50, thru to a full b'fast, the price I can't remember. A wider range in dining offerings would have meant we would have dined at the hotel, at least once daily.
The location is not near the town centre as told. They made me wait about 2 hours to check in to my room !! And Internet is too expensive and very slow in the rooms.
Convenient location, beautiful building, friendly staff, effortless.
very friendly staff, warm rooms with plenty of space. Exceptionally clean. Great views and great path access into Queenstown along the river. No
Beautiful View, convenience to Airport, convenience to Queenstown, and nature trail. Did not stay near long enough.
The view of Lake Wakatipu and The Remarkables was fantastic. We really enjoyed watching a movie in the lounge room in front of the beautiful fire. We also enjoyed the lake-side walk into town. Claire, the hotel manager, was unbelievably kind and helpful. So many steps
the wonderful location with lake and mountain view. The marvellous level of equipment in the apartment.
Comfortable, warm room. Great views. Wireless internet a bit expensive
A warm welcome at a stunning location. Our own verandah to view the beautiful lake.
There was so much about our stay at Villa Del Lago that we loved. Firstly, the service was impeccable. Lynn and Keith Stevens are fabulous hosts! Their service is the best service we have experienced. There was nothing that we could ask that was too much for them to do. They recommended wonderful places to eat. They got to know us really well, without being intrusive and therefore their recommendations were perfect! The accommodation itself is beautiful. The one bedroom apartment is beautifully furnished and has amazing views of Lake Wakatipu and The Remarkables. The facilities are modern the room is impeccably maintained. We will definitely stay here again and again.
It was quiet despite being adjacent to a major road, the room was spacious and comfortable, and was also well equipped.
Fantastic location, outstanding views. Ken and Lynn (managers) were wonderful. Super comfortable room with all amenitites.
Close walk to city center Slow Internet Confusing Corridors Lots of wear and tear in public areas
The Location was good. Close enough to walk to the Marina.
modern facilities attitude of staffs were poor
Our room was really nice.
After a very poor room on our first visit - not the garden view but a street view we were apprehensive on our pre-booked return. However, the staff made sur we were well treated the second time and got our garden room. All ok second time - make sure they do not allocate street side rooms as they are noisy, dark and stuffy!
Nothing. There was mold in the room, totally unclean, no doors on the closet and in no condition for anyone to stay. The managment was totally unsympathetic to our stay or our room. No one whould be allowed to stay in that room and certainly not have to pay for it.
You should be aware that when we booked a standard room we were placed in an old unrenovated room which wouldn't even be a three star room. As we paid to stay in a four star hotel we complained to the staff and got nowhere, so we spoke to the Manager to put us in the newer section of the hotel which has been renovated and is up to standard.
The view from our room and the closeness to town Our bathroom had a huge amount of mould around the bathroom which was very off putting and could easily be removed. For international guests to see this I was very disappointed.
The view was excellent; bed was comfortable; had washcloths; helpful and pleasant staff; great buffet breakfast included in our deal Hallways could use some updating
Housekeeping was none responsive on numerous occasions.
Hotel very well located. Has been renovated with good taste. The food was excellent. At check-in, we were told that the room we booked with Booking.com had no view... (Which we did not know..) So - fortunately - we were able to upgrade ourselves (and paid the difference) to a suite overlooking the lake. That made our stay agreable.
Had exactly what we can expect for this kind of hotel Overcost to park the car
the food The TV was on an unadjustable zoom which was annoying because clarity, tops of heads and some writing was lost. Sony is a great brand TV but the good TV image was lost. My husband felt some of the staff spoke far too fast - as an English speaker he could not understand two of the front desk staff, how the Japanese guests coped heavens knows!
My husband and I spent 2 nights at the hotel and we loved it. It was in a great location and the hotel and room was beautiful. The staff was friendly and helpful. We would stay there again.
The original room they gave us is near the front porch hence very noisy. After calling the reception 3 times to check, they agree to change to a quiet room with garden view. There were no bathroom slipper provided. The floor was cold and hence I would expect a hotel like St Moritz's standard to at least provide such ammenities. Also there were a big group that came after us and the hotel does not have enough staff to handle such group and hence when I was checking for quieter room, I've to called reception 3 times to get a response.
Breakfast was good although the pricing system is erratic - should be able to get a latte etc as standard instead of being required to pay extra for it. Everything in the hotel was expensive - the internet, car parking and meals. Better value would have been to reduce the costs of everything to a sustainable level rather than pricing things high forcing people to eat/drink/park elsewhere.Would also have liked constant water in the shower and toilet but this couldn't be guaranteed despite it supposedly being fixed.
We booked a room for three people and they gave us a room with just one bed, barely big enough for two people. They charged us for the third bed and it was worse than the ones from some of the backpackers we stayed on that holidays. It was the worse place we stayed in New Zealand, and we were in more than a dozen places, even worse that the DOC huts on the great walks, at least there we knew what we could expect.
Wonderful spacious rooms
My husband and I were looked after so well by all of the hotel staff. From the moment we arrived, Ben & Dana made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. Our room was a lovely size and beautifully furnished. The buffet breakfast was delicious, with views to match! A short stroll took us to Queenstown's main activity which was a bonus. I would highly recommend the St Moritz as a romantic escape or any other occassion for that matter. Keep up the good work guys!!
Comfy beds, great views, decent location Hotel bathroom looked a little old.
Very comfortable & clean. Excellent views over the lake. Lovely room! A bit outside the town - not walking distance & free bus isn't reliable. Taxis are plentyful though & cheap.
Efficient check-in and check-out I had accidentally double booked our rooms online but Bookings.com sorted it out and cancelled my second booking. However, the hotel was ready to charge me twice with the 2nd booking a 'credit towards another stay'. I had to argue with the manager that this was not going to happen.
Stunning views, helpful staff. We asked to move rooms and we couldn't have had more helpful and polite service. No air conditioning so the room was very hot at night
The beds in room was to soft
Friendly staff A very noisy coupl in the room above/adjacent made it difficult to sleep the first night. Obviously the sound proofing of the rooms is not great.
I really like the bed sheets. Very crisp & clean. I think water should be complimentary in the room. Also if there was free wifi facility, it would be even better.
Very comfortable, spacious with every provision for a short stay. The shuttle bus was very useful too. Have already recommended to friends as an alternative to a swiss holiday. no
The view (room 402) & location The coffee was the worst I have had this year (including time in usa). Specifically the espresso machine seemed burnt, the filter/egbert douwe coffee was weak. Perhaps you just use cheap coffee beans?
the lake view, silent environment, closed to downtown but away from crowded.
Great facility, great location, great price. Only complaint: Room service food wasn't great and was pricey especially for what you received.
Lovely Hotel, great location, room was very nice, enjoyed breakfast and a meal in the restaurant which was very good, no I joined their priority club as I liked the hotel group so much
Excelent hotel. Best location , lake front and close to all cafes and shops in town centre. Staff very efficient and friendly. Great stay.
Location was excellent, 24 hr reception, luggage storage was much appreciated Queen bed was a little springy/saggy and not the most comfortable during my trip.
we enjoyed our stay very much, would liked to have stayed longer , close to every thing that you wanted, reception and staff were excellent King bed was very comfortable , room was quiet the block out drapes were good as we are light sleepers, had a great view of mnts & lake, did not eat at hotel, wanted to try restaurants in town, would love to stay there again . There was nothing we did not like
A problem with the booking was overcome by well mannered staff. The room was great and the hotel was in an excellent location for our needs.
Fabulous location! Loved everything about this place.
great location, beautiful views and comfort. no
View over the lake and mountains. Helpfulness of staff esp on arrival. Location. No lift to the top floor: Concierge parking took a while to retrieve car Much more of a tourist hotel than expected
The close location to town centre, snow fields and tours. No
Great staff, fantastic location the bathroom. plug in sink did not drain
The staff were friendly and informative.most everything looked fresh and clean .the general surroundings and the facilities were perfect The only small fault we could find was that the music in the seated area of the bar was very loud and we had trouble talking over the noise from the speakers.there were only four people in the bar and we had trouble working out why the music had to be so loud.-----answer..young staff.
The accommodation was first class and room service very quick. Our room had a Very poor view, onto service area.
Great location and view of the lake and mountains. Being able to cook saved us money in the restaurants. The hotel being built on a hill had hallways that maybe difficult for elderly or handicapped because you walked up or down hill.
The rooms were modern, clean and a very good size. Well equiped kitchen facilities and comfortabe living area. Lack-lustre hallways let down the overall first impression. Feels a little like your in a school building and it can all get a bit disorientating.
Spacious room for the two of us. We loved the balcony (and the great view of the mountains and lake that we had). It was also nice to have a washer/dryer in the room since we were vacationing for a couple of weeks. Short walk into town, and yet far enough away that it was quiet. Bed was comfy, shower water was always hot. Room service was good. There were 2 separate rooms inside 1 "outside" door and sometimes visitors for the room next to us would ring our doorbell instead of theirs because they didnt realize that there were 2 doorbells (1 on each side of the door). It woke us up a few times. Maybe better indication of the doorbell situation would be good for future guests.
The location was awesome due to it being so close to the central area where you can eat and enjoy walks. The housekeeper should have put away ironing board in our room. The laundry room was unkept and there needs to be ventilation so that on cold days the heat from the drier won't turn the very tiny laundry room into a sauna with the four walls sweating with condensation. There was so much it was like rain the room.
Easy walk to & from the main city centre. Views are also good. Nice and quiet. Well appointed bathrooms. The balconies on the rooms allow you to experience the temperature to dress appropriately and adds to the "feel of the outdoors" in Queenstown. Unfortunately the bed was not very comfortable, suggest the hotel invests in a new matress and checks all others. The mattress was certainly 'past it' as we sank into a rolled together. Not the best for comfort and support! After much walking about in Queenstown, comfort when retiring after a long day is vital!!
I liked the amenities in the suits, the views all around and the town where you can get what ever you need nearby. Also, all sorts of tours abound a stones throw away. The airport bus stop is just up the road which runs out side the hotel. And there is internet available in the hotel. Well, the only negative point is that the road out side into town is somewhat steep and its hard getting back up, especially with bags! Not the hotels fault though.
Nice complex, easy check-in/check-out. We asked for a room with a lake view and got one but it had two double beds, a king was not available. Not the most comfortable sleep regardless of if we had a king or not….matresses need an upgrade. The view made up for it. We had a car and they do have underground parking for their guests with easy in and out access but best to park the car and just hoof it around town. Be warned that this hotel is up a steep hill so if you do go into town by foot expect a bit of a climb on your return. Bathroom was clean with great water pressure and plenty of hot water. The buffet breakfast was over rated for the price, they charge you extra if you want a specialty drink. Go into town and get a big breakfast at any number of the fine establishments there. All in all, if it wasn’t for the view I would say it was an average stay.
Scenic Suites was great for us as we were 2 couples and had the 2 bedroom suite. This is nicely organised as 2 private units which are interconnecting. The use of a well set up kitchen on one unit was useful. They are clean and reasonably close to the centre. The staff are helpful and friendly. Overall a nice place and I would stay again. After a day wandering the town it is a bit of a climb up to the units, but this allows the overall view to be had. The internal design / architecture of the hallways and ability to access the reception is a bit convoluted, but these are just minor niggles.
Good location to wonder into town and also get the bus up to the Remarkables. Room was very nice, clean, modern and warm with balcony and view towards mountains and the lake. Could be slightly noisy when other guests were coming and going from their rooms.
Great location, great views, fantastic apartment style and layout complete with dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, perfect after a day on the slopes. The dining room table sat beside the picture window with views out to the mountains and lake. Plenty of space to every room with modern neutral warm decor. Wonderful spot to rest and play.
The rooms are very attractively furnished and very comfortable. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Nice views of the mountains. I enjoyed being here. So I am a little lazy and didn't relish the walk up the hill from the town center. And late night party people walking back along the main drag could be easily heard.
The staff were very professional and willing to assist with anything. They were not over the top as some can be though. The room was very comfortable but we did not dine in the restaurant so can't comment. We would def use again if we go to Queenstown. We specifically asked for a king that was not 2 singles - it was a busy weekend so perhaps this is why we didn't get that!
Staff was friendly and helpful. Close to town centre, shops and restaurants. Bed was very comfortable Gadgets (espresso coffee machine, tv in bathroom, spa bath) were either user unfriendly or out of order. Our room faced a street with a noisy pub. So, if you want quiet, ask for a room away from the street. It had a nice view however.
good service,good decor,pleasant feel
Fabulous staff, great attention to detail, the bed was exceptionally comfortable. We were made to feel as if we really were welcome and our custom appreciated. Had the feeling of a small boutique hotel not usually experienced in a chain hotel. Thanks for a great stay Everything was excellent
A very nice and well managed hotel. None
The staff is so very welcoming and accommodating. Great location - steps away from the shops and restaurants. Very comfortable room, comfy bed with soft linens - large bathroom including a jetted tub. wish we could've taken the hotel and staff along to our remaining destinations throughout the South Island.
Great hotel - but one side of the kingbed required updating. other than this the hotel was great. The bed was past it's replacement date
The rooms were great, the bathrooms were the best I've seen. Amenities were excellent. The staff was attentive friendly and helpful. Internet situation was weak. Kept getting message that I used my days allotment. No way. only checked FB emails and weather. Never streamed anything. Even mid range hotels in NZ have free unlimited wi fi. Got coupon for reduced breakfast but reduced price was advertised outside.
This hotel was the complete package for a luxury ski holiday. It offers a great central location (and is across the road from the ski bus to Coronet Peak and the remarkables), well appointed rooms (incl underfloor bathroom heating) professional friendly service, and a discrete well appointed bar to settle in after a day on the slopes.
Excellent staff, wonderful service.
Staff were very attentive. The accommodation was comfortable and thoughtfully presented.
Either on the website or on Kayak.com it stated that the hotel shuttle to the airport would be $13 nzd per person. When we got there they told us that they don't offer this service. We only had exactly $26 nzd left. This was our last day so there was no need to have New Zealand currency. I shared this with the hotel staff and to our pleasant surprise, she ordered us a cab to the airport that was $23 NZD fixed price. We were happy we were able to spend the last of our New Zealand currency and not have to waste it on something at the airport. I appreciate the hotel staff being attentive and making sure we were comfortable by all means. The bathroom is a bit cramped. I actually hit my tooth on the towel bar as I was trying to sit on the toilet. Luckily I didn't chip my tooth but it did hurt.
View Food poisoning at one of their best restaurants and I needed to stay another night after spend 8 nights their and they put me in the worst room. After spend 2k there.
