Hotel was excellent. Reception was very good especially as they had no knowledge of our booking, but they sorted out a room for us.
The room had all facilities in good condition. It faced the harbour giving a good view.
Comfortable modern beds, furnishings etc and good breakfast options Wifi not working and no one to assist as no one in office outside business hours
Nice location, Clean good sized room and good value with breakfast No.
Well decorated, comfortable accommodation. Friendly helpful staff. Good food. None
Lovely staff and a fantastic position on the north coast. Just a hop away from John o groats and other attractions.
I thought the hotel had recently been renovated as everything was clean & spotless. Was definately value for what we paid for Bed & Breakfast. Only down point was you had to go next door to have breakfast which could be a problem in winter.
Friendly restaurant manager Had to go into building next door for breakfast and also to check out. Meals in restaurant were quite expensive for what they were (bar food)
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food in the Upper Deck restaurant was brilliant. We would definitely stay at the Ferry Inn again. The only drawback was walking outside to go for meals - it was lovely weather when we were there so it wasn't a problem but might not be good on a rainy day!
The Chalet rooms were stylish, warm ,& well seviced.the waiting taff were friendly & helpful .The bar meal was wellcooked, & good value for money.Car parking close to room was a bonus.
Very good rooms in new part of building apartment style. Staff friendly and very good breakfast selection.
Everything, no complaint about any thing.
The hotel was very friendly and welcoming. Staff were pleasant and helpfull. The food was excellent and well presented. Hotel is fairly central and is easy to get around town from.
Wonderful breakfast, helpful staff. Felt meal was quite expensive but that may have been the general cost in that area.
Traditional features retained along with modern extensions. Good bar meal and breakfasts
Good sized room with easy external access for lugguage etc.from the car park. Two coach parties of guests on the first day of our stay severly restricted the times we good take breakfast and evening meal
My room was comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent.
Convenient to Wick centre. Friendly staff. Windows only single-glazed, so noise from cars of "boy-racers" who congregate on car park opposite, but fortunately not too late.
The room was clean and tidy with good facilities. It was very handy for the town shops, rail and bus services. The airport was within walking distance, but there was an hourly bus service from the front door of the hotel. The manager of the hotel was very helpful. The Bar area was in need of refurbishment and had a rather bleak out outlook across a supermarket car park.
comfort and food
Food was excellent. Poor room. Noisey. Television very poor.
The hotel is conveniently situated near to the station with a good view of the river, but from the aesthetic point of view it's a pity about the car park in front. We ate in the bar, but it was quite noisy being a Saturday evening.
None 1 room was so bad that my contracts manager slept in the car.
Pleasant well mannered staff, good carparking, near to town centre. Generally could have been cleaner, better signage to get to hotel, no eggs for breakfast.
Friendly staff. Everything one wanted was there and worked.Evening meal good value. Whole place appears a little tired and the exterior is unappealing.Apparently public gents toilet was not too good. Clientele of Wicker Bar a little off putting on arrival.
The Hotel was in a good central location in the town. Friendly and helpful staff and excellent Price considering remoteness of town. No Big screeen TV in Bar.
Good service .Excellent food. No hot water in room 1st morning.Had to pay £82 per night when same dates were advertised in website at £70. Our room at the back of hotel had no outlook whatsoever.
The friendly and helpful staff , the location of the hotel and the disabled facilities available Ther was nothing we disliked about our stay in this hotel
Very clean, comfortable accommodation, big shower enclosure Was rather expensive for level of equipment, rather small bathroom bashed elbows on wall when trying to dry oneself after a shower
Restaurant was good. I couldn't use my international phone card in the room without incurring exhorbitant costs. This seems to be common in Scottish hotels as they charge by the minute. I used the pay phone in the lobby instead.
Excellent bathroom. Food very good.
Very convenient, clean and warm. Good breakfast. More than adequate for an overnight stay.
Good selection of beers Food
Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast Shower could have been more powerfull
Very clean with very friendly & helpful staff. Food excellent & good value. None
Easy to find, car parking spaces, good breakfast. At £88 for the night, it was over-priced for the compact room and service. More a 'traveller motel' than a luxury hotel, in my opinion. We opted for an evening meal but had to leave since nobody came to serve us. Overall, I would say £50 would be a fairer price for the comfort and service, but there are so few alternatives in Thurso.
Centrally located and reasonably good value.
The lady on duty in the kitchen when I went for my breakfast was very healpful and pleasant Having to wait for someone to book me in (pressed bell 3 times) ? if it works. Also after having a very log journey and being very tired it would have been nice for the gentleman on reception to give me a hand with my bag.
in the center of the town no elevator; insuficient parking (only for 4 cars ); price; nocturn enviroment
Location Poor attitude of staff in dealing with problems . Room smelt musty. Heating in room not working. Shower very small, slippery surface. Reception, bell broken, no staff who knew check in procedure available. Corridors etc very tired looking.
Nice room, very well layed out. Great breakfast. Easy walking to the town centre. Can't boil the kettle and watch TV at the same time. No lift to rooms. Small car park.
Reasonable breakfast, restaurannt. Close to everything. Good shower Very noisy. The room was above the bar and music, noise from the bar continued till midnight making it impossible to get a restful nights sleep. We were very disappointed.
Location and tired but grand decor Evening meals were not in keeping with the traditional ambiance of the place (we ate elsewhere)
Leaving and not having booked a second night! The hotel is very, very old and subsequently very rambling in layout, the heating was faulty, beds were uncomfortable and the most unhygenic breakfast table, linnen and cutlery, I have ever witnessed in a hotel.
The staff were really helpful no problems
The staff were were nice, breakfast good but limited, even if the order was wrong both days. The bar is simple but nice. Lobby is nice. Car parking available the entrance from the car park is poor/smells. The rooms and bathrooms are very out of date. Corridors and staircases are very rough and need painting at the very least. The hotel lift is very poor, with graffiti inside
The best part of the trip was the staff at the hotel and all the 3 bars/pubs in the town we visited. The quietness of hotel and all visiters. ?We would recommend y not as a place to drink and relax weekday nights but weekends little louder for young local custom the hotel bar at weekends was quietest, otherwise Wick's WeatherSpoon restaurant and bar is mostly recommened. At no fault of anyones, all sight seeing attractions where closed. lack of choice for places to eat locally, due to both of these spent long week end in Wick and as not keen on drink driving never drunk at dinner.
Convenience. Also, I left my Mobile Phone charger behind - I telephoned and advised them. They found it and sent it to my home. One window (sash type) was jammed open and the room was noisy
excellent value good breakfast, and room was clean and warm with plenty of hot water
able to smoke in room too many local youths in hotel bar
Staff extremely friendly and helpful ,rooms clean and tidy. All meals excellent in restaurant and bar.
The food was excellent The rooms were clean, and adequetly furnished Being an old hotel, and just having been taken over, the decor was poor.
Great hotel! Comfortable, relaxing and clean with a delicious resteraunt in the hotel!
This is a well run and comfortable hotel ideally situated if you want to visit the north of Scotland. The food was good, the rooms were warm and the staff were friendly and helpful.
The food in the restaurant was good. Small town far north of Scotland. Cliffs and rough nature. We had ordered a family room and noted that we needed 2 extra beds, but the staff had overlooked our note. The staff managed to give us a room with 2 extra beds, but the room was very small for four persones. The service in the resaurant could have beeb better: The staff forgot orderes, worked slow and it took over half an hour from we gor the bill before we were told to pay in the bar.
People friendly and helpful, E.G. over lack of Wi-Fi connection - offered use of hotel computer Castletown appears to be in an economically deprived area visited by few people, so it would be unfair to judge it or the hotel without taking that into acount. Given that, every effort was made to look after this guest.
the food was brill internet did not work in my room i had to go to the loby
The hotel operator was very accommodating and the location was excellent. No.
The location was great, and the facilities themselves were very nice. When we arrived, there was only one person on staff working both the front desk and the bar, and due to her 'running around' we never got towels in the family room.
Personell, one man running the hotel, and the pub next to it. Breakfast. The outside of the hotel (backside) looks a old. Don't let it confuse you, on the inside everything is OK
very friendly & helpful receptionist. good, tasty breakfast. nice clean ensuite room. efficient checkout. Overpriced. Paid £109 for one night B&B for two & room, although well kept, was small.
Exelent bistro plus very good free wifi Room heating was not on, when arrived and it was very very cold outside
Staff friendly and efficient. Food and service were first class Bathroom could do with some grout and sealer
Centrally located in Wick N/A
Friendly staff, good service, spacious room, excellent food Looked a bit run down from the outside, no car park
American receptionist most efficient and helpful. Excellent evening meal in the restaurant. Horrible 'youth hostel' style illuminated sign near the recption really makes your heart drop when you round the corner - get rid soon. Couple of undersireables made it in the bar although were quietly dealt with after about 30 minutes.
The hotel was very welcoming and comfortable, the rooms were very clean ,comfortable and well furnished. The food and service in the bistro was excellent.I would not hesitate to stay again. No
The hotel was well located for our requirements and the staff were excellent - very helpful and friendly. We felt that the bistro restaurant prices were a bit high for our requirements and it was a pity we had to find somewhere else to have our evening meal. The hotel surroundings were very nice and we would have preferred to stay in the hotel for a meal after a tiring day.
Staff were friendly and hotel was comfortable Single room was a bit small
Excellent food. Good, friendly family run hotel. None
The people were very friendly and helpful. I thought it was very expensive--probably the most we paid of all the hotels we stayed in.
Staff were very friendly. Food was pleasant "pub grub" and good value for money Although the room and bedding was clean, it smelled of damp and was quite cold, despite the radiator and the electric blankets. The bed itself was not damp, but there was an overall smell of damp in the room. That said, I don't know if it was just this one room that smelled damp.
Good base for exploring remote Scotland
Excellent staff the evening meal and breakfast were excellent Stayed in annexe...room needs upgrade....did not use shower it "looked very tired "
Electric Blanket for heating during the night No heating, no hot water other than in the shower, room smelt of dogs
Clean and tidy Coombed ceiling - we both well above average height
Good situation. Handy for ferry. Good introduction to the hotel on arrival. Bedroom might benefit from dehumidifier.
A real pleasure to stay here. Owners were on the scene and involved . Outstanding hospitality
Very convenient for Gills Bay-St Margeret Hope, Orkney ferry crossing
the staff at the Hotel were all first class. The lodges were clean and comfortable and the food in the restaurant was fantastic. We would definitely recommend it people. No complaints.
Food excellent Lodges clean but on the small side Lodges need updating. Looking Tired
having fridge and microwave old fashined furniture and bed sheets.
Breakfast and view from restaurant Lodge room was freezing and if honest, aged, tatty and flimsy
Bed linen clean, breakfast food very good. The lodge was very dilapidated, filthy carpets, wardrobe door would not open on one side, etc. Dining Room, couch with broken legs, interior window sills thick with dust and cobwebs, carpet required hoovering.
It was fine - though the floor did bounce around lot and I worried about the room below. Rather dull - very brown decor.
Location was good, and cleanliness was ok. If cleanliness was a slightly lower standard than it was, I would've spent the night in my car. I stayed in the lodges and would not have stayed there more than a night and only stayed because I had nowhere else to stay. Very drab more like a hut the carpet was disgusting but rest of the room was clean but very dated and there was a horrible fusty smell. Rooms could do with a new carpets, brighter wallpaper and bathrooms.
First room allocated had a broken foot on the bed. Re-allocated straight away
Food in hotel was good. Close to ferry terminal Dissapointed with the accomodation the lodges I feel are past thier working life . the one we stayed in had been broken into at some stage which did not inspire confidence and the room smelt strongly of stale tobbaco and the carpet and headboard were filthy
Nothing it was very dirty the shallies i would not put my dog in there to stay. Everything would rate them a 0
