Pros: New, tasteful, comfortable and spacious room. Very pleasant and comfortable bathroom. Nice, modern and „clean, bright and rather understated“ design: Not „glitzy“-luxurious, but very comfortable, modern, functional and pleasant. Multi-lingual host+son. Fast WiFi. Very central location - conveniently close to many sights and destinations. Good familiy-food for dinner. Currently still north of the sad sight of the dying olive trees. Best place during our roundtrip of Puglia, Basilicata and Calabria

Pros: We arrived on short notice after a day of cycling and were welcomed very warmly by Vincenzo. He gave us a very interesting tour around his Messeria and told us lots about the plants and animals they farm. The room was very new and clean. Pros: Great hospitality of the family! Very tasty dinner prepared specially for us considering that we booked in the morning and arrived at 16.00, i.e. short notice. And we enjoyed freshly made chocolate pie at breakfast. The environment of the farm was great! I'm happy that our kids could see and hear about farmer life. Thanks to eldest son who told us interesting facts about farm and Italy. Calm place to enjoy the nature and good food! Thanks a lot to the family! Wish you good harvest next year! ))

Pros: - Breakfast is great and varies from day to day. Great coffee. Missed fresh juice though. - Wander around the vicinity and you'll find the cherry trees, grape vineyard and even a hidden abandoned garden Little tougher to find is the private forest with a place for children to play and for a morning workout.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: One of the best out b&b's we have stayed at. Nice county location away from the noise, yet comfortable drive away from both Matera and Alberobello. Bonus to bird lovers - spotted a number of eagles nearby. Lovely rooms, converted from old stables, preserving style and history, yet very clean and comfortable. Antonio and Luisa both exceptional hosts who are very welcoming and considerate! Additionally, Luisa speaks excellent English, and she even kindly offered to book a local restaurant on our behalf, (needless to say the restaurant she recommended served amazing local food). Breakfast featured a delicious home made cake and jam. My only regret is that we couldn't stay a few extra days.

Terra Jovia Wine Room - Gioia del Colle - Bedroom
8
9.7 Excellent (23 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Terra Jovia Wine Room was a terrific place to stay. There were several reasons that we chose this property and it met all our expectations. The wine room is a large first floor bedroom forming part of the historic winery property. The bedroom and living area are open plan, spacious with a beautiful vaulted ceiling and decorated with period furniture. The living area is a comfortable sofa and seating plan around a table, al very tasteful to the surroundings. The bed was traditional and was comfortable. There is plenty of room for clothing/storage. The bathroom is off the main room and is well equipped and spacious. The entire space has AC but despite the warm temperature we hardly used this service due to the vaulted ceilings. One our reasons for staying was to visit the winery and have a meal with wine tasting. We had the meal on the first night and this was a great success. We were served in the dining room next door to our bedroom. Fillipo and his sister provided the food and wines and we were delighted with the quality with the care given very evident. We received course after course of super food, either from the farm or locally made and all delicious. All washed down with the superb family wine. A real highlight. Before leaving we completed the winery tour which was also very enjoyable. The history, intertwined with the family history is beautiful and the chapel is a lovely aspect. Lastly, the property is immediately adjacent to the town centre which means walking to shops or a cafe/restaurant is easy.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful room, hardworking host, great garden & ambience.
Cons: A little difficult to find local residents did not know there was such a place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were travelling by bus & wanted somewhere to stop between Matera & Alberobello. We also wanted to visit winery's so Terra Jovia seemed the perfect choice. It was a 20 minute walk from the bus stop & easy to find with the entrance gates & google maps. When we checked in with Rina we realised how lucky we were as they only have one guest room above the the winery and it is massive, with its own lounge area! We had a walk around town between rain showers, but not much was happening as it was riposo time. When we got back I had to get a lesson on how to open the door. When we arrived we arranged to start the wine tour at 6. Filippo started in the beautiful family chapel with a history lesson and proceeded to show us the wine making process that includes using cement vats to preserve the flavours of the grapes. We then 'sampled' the 2015 Primitivo & Primitivo Reserva with dinner in their lovely dining room. Both are delightful but the Primitivo was my favourite. We ate a range of local hams & cheeses, tasty home grown veg & 'Mums' pasta. Every last morsel was delicious, including the dessert! I would really recommend staying here and hope to stay again.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A great experience to stay somewhere with such character! The hosts were very friendly and we'd thoroughly recommend the tour and tasting!
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was our second stay in two weeks. We just had to come back! The room was enormous and beautiful. The room was full of lovely period furniture - even a piano! Vaulted ceilings and a grand chandelier. This time we had the tour of the winery and the tasting meal. Both excellent and recommended. I’ve already put one review on after our initial stay so I’ll just say everything was wonderful, could fault nothing. Rina and her bother Fillipo were both helpful and kind. If you want something a bit different a few minutes walk from the historical centre then do try it.
Cons: Not a negative for us but just wanted to point out that there are quite a few steps outside that lead up to the room, (it’s above the winery) so anyone with mobility difficulties could find it a problem.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Run by a lovely open family, happy to teach you about wine. The room itself is a beautiful old thing with high vaulted ceilings, decked out with old paintings.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place was like entering and antique house . The room was very spacious. It even had a beautiful antique living room next to our room . We had breakfast every morning in a beautiful dining room full of antique plates and dishes . This is what we wanted .
Cons: I can’t say anything .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very warm welcome despite being quite early. Large parking area. Enormous room blew us away it was beautiful. Large bed, two settees, armchairs, wardrobe, even a piano!!
Cons: Nothing Didn’t matter to us but there are quite a few steps up to the room if you are not too able.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice wine tour, great local primitivo, super nice host
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very quaint and tucked away near the city center.
Cons: Small issue that was my fault. I thought there would be more nature on the property. I neglected to look at a map before arrival and failed to notice it was more of an urban area that was not suggested by the picture of the open field in the listing.

Pros: On the wall of the common area is an award from booking.com, 9.8 for excellence. I believe this is wrong. I would give it a perfect 10 any day! The building dates back to 800AD, meaning it is almost 1,300 years old. Inside there is quaintness and quirkiness everywhere, from the statues in the high-ceilinged foyer, through the ancient stone staircases, to the mismatched heavy wooden doors as you tread your way upstairs. You open a massive (modern) steel door to enter the apartments, and it brings you into the shared space, whereupon there is a very modern and well equipped kitchen, a well-stocked fridge, and three small dining tables, each designed for two. The décor is fresh, the accessories quirky and interesting, including numerous flower arrangements, and the high ceiling adds to the feeling of spaciousness. The French doors leading to the Juliette balcony top it off nicely. Off this room are two doors and an alcove. Each of the doors lead to an apartment. In the alcove is another door, to the third apartment, along with a staircase leading upwards. And up here is a delightful surprise – a rooftop terrace that looks across the town in all directions, including down into the main square. On the day we arrived the square was bustling with preparations for a festival, and watching from the terrace was a joy. Our bedroom was similar in size and proportion to the common space, long and wide and with the very high curved ceiling. The same fresh décor and quirky artworks etc, and a super-sized bed that was extremely comfortable. Fabulous bathroom. amazing breakfasts, and the most delightful and accommodating hosts you could ever wish for.
Cons: Just be aware that the "available parking" is actually street parking, but it worked perfectly for us. And there's no elevator, just several flights of steep old stone stairs. But we are both 70 and we had no problem.

Pros: Warm and friendly family and staff. Super helpful for discovering Gioa del Colle and the Murgia area. Gioa is a little jewel of an old town-- small, cosy and clean with a nice old castello, small-in town gardens and cafes. There are fantastic restos nearby topped by Borgo Antico in town and La Locanda del Melograno in the countryside. An excellent relaxing location to serve as a base of exploring Murgia and the Bari region.
