10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a wonderful stay at L’Etape Normande. Our room was in a beautifully renovated and converted barn opposite Dominique and Corinne’s farmhouse – super comfortable bed and lovely bathroom. Breakfast was wonderful with juice, breads and pastries, a selection of cheeses, yoghurt, ham, and smoked salmon. Dominique went to a lot of trouble to help us enjoy our stay in Normandy – he gave us recommendation for places to eat and things to do. There's also a spa and a gym that you can use! This is 5 star service and amenities for a 3 star price!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place to stay in Normandy. Excellent, spaceous room in a separate annex, with lots charm (wooden rafters and a lot of care taken in the renovation). Spotlessly clean and there were some really nice touches - facilities to make tea, table and chairs inside and out, flowers outside. A delicious breakfast too. Finally, absolutely lovely hosts - Corine and Dominique were incredibly welcoming and helpful. We'd definitely recommend.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room in beautifully restored annex, with its own private entrance. Located in a large and well maintained garden, surrounded by meadows and cows. Warm welcome and a lot of personal attention from the owner. A few day before our arrival he had even sent us a personal mail with a lot of touristic information on the region. The room was very beautiful with a very comfortable king-size bed and a great bathroom with walk-in shower. Tea making facilities, and a bottle of fresh water were available in the room. Abundant breakfast - not French at all - with many local and home-made touches. The 15 minute spa treatment was a great bonus.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A wonderful place to stay - the hosts couldn't have been more helpful and the property is beautiful. The breakfast is excellent and the gym/spa area a welcome addition. The area is very remote, but if you are looking to relax it is perfect and there are a number of good restaurants nearby.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were incredibly accommodating valuing our space, The property was beautifully decorated to a high standard and the small touches such as handmade soap lottery teas and cost sheets would very much welcome. There was jacuzzi which we were allowed to use for 15 mins ! The breakfast was wonderful with food from the local region, The host provided us with information about the area and we managed to visit two places.
Cons: I liked it all , highly recommend the hosts spoke English very well.
7.5 Good
Pros: Excellent stay. Owners very friendly and communicated with us via email before the stay to see what f we wanted a French platter meal arranged at cost of invoices. Excellent breakfast provided

Cons: Nothing was wrong at all

Pros: Stunning location. The owners were delightful and the room very quaint. The bed was very comfortable and other than a few cobwebs which are to be expected in the countryside it was clean. The breakfast was delicious including eggs from the owners’ hens.
Cons: Cleaned cobwebs around ceiling in bedroom
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very obliging hosts nothing to much trouble
Cons: Difficult to find, diabolical drive up to houses
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our hosts were charming and welcomed us with home made citronade. The large room was beautiful and comfortable with views to the surrounding gardens, farmland and forest. Ideal for those who want a quiet country getaway.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved it!! Out of the way, in the middle of a field surrounded by the forest, everything we wanted to cut ourselves from the hustle and bustle of he city. Beautiful farmhouse, sweet welcoming hosts, great room with a huge shower. Loved it!!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location of Ferme de la Haye is beautiful and remote. You are in the middle of nature and it feels very peaceful. The owners are a lovely couple that looked after us incredibly well and give all sorts of tips and advice on how to explore the area, where to go for dinner, running routes etc. The breakfast was a lovely traditional French breakfast with croissants, homemade confiture, baguette, the & coffee, fresh orange juice etc. Sat at the large dining table in a beautiful living room with a view on all the green outside. I can strongly recommend a stay here.
Cons: Nothing, the place was lovely.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutly funtastic place with more than expected owner care. Old house with a lot to see inside and outside on property. Fresh breakfast of owner produce. Highly recommend for all love nature, beauty and relaxation. Get in love with owners. Thanks a lot.
Cons: There is NOTHING that you can't like.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is very unique and steeped in history starting life as a glass factory in the 1400’s. The location was so pretty and so quiet. The hosts were interesting and informative about the area. Bed was comfortable, breakfast was delicious, bathroom set up was something I would like at home and the view of their horses in the paddock from our bedroom was brilliant. The only negative is that we only stayed one night. Stay more than one night if you can as the whole area is lovely.
Cons: Absolutely nothing...it was fabulous.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: John and Josette were fantastic We were cycling as a group of 4 from London to Paris and looking for a nice non hotel French rural Experience As the property is a little off the track John met us in a small nearby village Montroty and led us to this hidden Gem We were greeted warmly and offered home made Citronade in the Sunny garden John then showed us around the property and gave a very interesting account of its history dating back to an original Glassworks. The rooms were large, clean with breathtaking views of the local countryside. The Irish Wolfhounds (Harmony and Holmes) lazily wondered around and the horses in the adjacent field set a perfect scene. We ate at a nearby restaurant recommended by John that evening and in the morning had a fantastic breakfast prepared and served lovingly in their beautiful room dating back to 1400's I wish everywhere was like this - we would 100% return and will certainly recommend a stop here to anyone looking for accommodation in this region.
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful farmhouse, garden, room. They have geese, chicken, horses and two giant Irish wolfhounds. Recommended.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: John and Josette could not have been more welcoming and attentive. This is a unique rural property surrounded by woodland, rescued with love over many years from an old ruin. Swallows swoop in and out of the lower barn, geese and chickens can be seen from the garden and the whole location is idylic. Fresh tea and biscuits on the lawn when we arrived, boiled eggs from ther own hens and freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast were highlights.
Cons: The lane in the woods to get to the property is narrow and unmetaled.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Cloe is was wonderful. We loved our rooms and the breakfast was fantastic. The bathroom was very large and we stayed in a 3 person suite. Our 16yo daughter was in the little room to the side and it was perfect. We found the beds very hard and wished for fuller pillows but we were not uncomfortable. The area around this village is nice to explore at a slow pace. We stayed two nights. For the purpose of sightseeing one would have been enough but it was nice to relax and just enjoy our time away.
Cons: Very firm beds.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Friendly welcome
Cons: Traffic noise

Pros: Fantastic place to stay. So kind to us as we had a lot of needs which were all met with great courtesy. Fabulous in every way.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a little off the route for the Avenue Verte, but not far, at the top of a big hill
8.3 Excellent
Pros: A magnificent property standing on the hill top. Spacious room and sitting room plus small kitchenette on the same ( top) floor for all the rooms. We were the only ones staying so had it to ourselves Well appointed bedroom and bathroom V comfortable bed. Secure storage for the bikes. Very good breakfast
Cons: We had great difficulty finding the property! But really it is only 3kms outside Main town For us ( as cyclists) it was a pity that no evening meal was available as we were not able to go out. We were warned about this and bought a cold meal with us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is tops. Two large windows at the foot of my bed opened to the east towards the rolling hills of this beautiful French countryside. The sunrise that woke me was truly a site to behold and was the perfect way, visually, to start the day. Carla is a fantastic and very accommodating host. She made us all feel very welcome and helped us out by arranging for us to have a meal in town, as we arrived late in the day from a cycle trip. The grounds are stunning, to say the least. I would recommend this perfect château for your stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Such a surprise! The images do not do justice. The property was perfect for a luxury relax after a long day on our bikes. We didn’t realise we had access to a kitchen, lounge and the garden. We also paid for breakfast - which was very much worth it especially as hardly anything is open in August on the Avenue Verte route. The staff were also very helpful and welcoming .
8.3 Excellent
Pros: We were well received by our host when we arrived at the property. She explained everything to us in detail concerning what was available in the manoir. Very helpful! The place itself is very pretty and especially clean. A little far from any good restaurants but we found somewhere excellent to eat about 15km away in the town of Morgny. The breakfast was fine, a continental buffet so no surprise there. We unfortunately did not have time to visit the gardens as the weather left a little to be desired. View from the room was great.
Cons: Didn't like the fact the bathroom was not ensuite but that was my mistake for not checking more thoroughly. The other thing was the super bright halogen that lights up the manoir at night and shined directly into our room (stays on the whole night), close the shutters immediately if light bothers you.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: An extremely comfortable bed with good quality linen and big, fluffy towels in the modern en-suite bathroom. A spacious guest lounge with TV is available plus a small kitchen with complimentary hot drinks (tea/coffee/chocolate) and cookies. Breakfast included home made preserves and fruit compots and we were even offered eggs and bacon! We declined, preferring to enjoy a good French breakfast with flaky croissants and crispy bread. The hosts were super helpful.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The bread at breakfast was served hot with a local cheese. Staff was very friendly and not pushy.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice location situated in the countryside. Beautiful building and grounds
Cons: Breakfast was advertised as a full English included but was a continental breakfast. Although what we did have was pleasant enough.
7.5 Good
Pros: Spacious building and grounds. Stylish bedroom and bathroom with shared use of adjacent guest kitchenette. Also useful access to the chateau’s kitchen. Excellent breakfast.
Cons: Unable to provide table d’hote as offered when booked. Ended up having to order take away ourselves from local town which was of poor quality since we did not have a car to go out. We were the only people in the otherwise empty chateau, due to owner living elsewhere and the housekeeper having separate accommodation in the grounds.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Silvia was really warm and welcoming. She has renovated and decorated this beautiful old house wonderfully well and the location is perfect - beautiful countryside and Spring birdsong!
Cons: Nothing could have been better
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful peaceful setting, shops and restaurants only a short distance away. Sylvia was a star host and nothing was too much trouble. Tastefully decorated rooms with an eye for detail. Lovely breakfast with some home made preserves!! Would have loved a couple more nights!!
Cons: Only having one night to enjoy it!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful historic home with large garden in a rural setting. Just a shame we arrived after dark and were quickly away the following morning after a lovely breakfast. The owner was very welcoming and was happy to chat over breakfast, in English, but also I suspect in French and German. Would suit groups of cyclists and families alike.
Cons: We had too little time to enjoy a coffee or wine in the beautiful garden. Not a criticism, but be aware the bathroom serving the upstairs budget double and twin room is on the ground floor. A toilet is however on the first floor landing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Charming and interesting hosts. Lovely old house in perfect location for our cycling. Stored our bicycles securely. Tasty breakfast. Comfortable round bed and funky bathroom. Thank you

10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is a marvellous place, very nice room. Also great breakfast, lovely and helpful owner. Quiet place near Paris.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: A lovely old farmhouse set in a countryside garden. After cycling all day it was great to get a lift from the nice lady into Gournay and back for dinner.Breakfast was very good. We had the larger bedroom which had a very good bathroom.
Cons: Not a big deal, but the room was a bit darker than we expected, on account of being in an old farmhouse with small windows.
10.0 Excellent

Citotel Le St Aubin - Bezancourt - Building

7.1 Good (412 reviews)
Overview Reviews
When you stay at Citotel Le St Aubin in Gournay-en-Bray, you'll be 9 minutes by car from Bremontier Merval Chateau. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, a 24-hour front desk, and multilingual staff. Free self parking is available onsite.
6.7 Good
Pros: For those riding Avenue Verte there is a very large bike park inside. Out of town and off the main road so quiet. quiet back route available into town. Nice breakfast.
Cons: If you are there sunday when the restaurant (Indian) is closed it is a mile each way into town. Hard to get the reception staff who seem to hide in a back room. Very large bed overwhelms the room with little space left for anything else.
6.7 Good
Pros: Avenue Verte Dieppe to Paris day one stopover. Nice hotel, although in August, don't expect the restaurant to be open in the evenings. And town centre restaurants/bars are equally closed. But this is France and August is usually their holiday time :) Nice hotel, quiet and clean. Bike storage facilities are good :)
Cons: Only that I hadn't considered that the restaurant would be closed during the evening due to staff holidays.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: A little out of town however the hotel Indian restaurant is excellent
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good standard hotel, met all our needs (stopover hotel for cycling holiday)
Cons: The restaurant was closed. We did not know this until we arrived ie nothing on the website to tell us this.
5.4 Okay
Pros: the organisation was very bad!!
Cons: idem
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: The property was ok.
Cons: Quite remote with very little within 2km walking distance. On arrival I called someone on the reception phone to come and check me in. They came and asked for payment and that was the last I saw of any staff. All other dealings were done over the phone. Like getting WiFi working. I asked what time I would be able to eat and was told the restaurant would be closed and that the nearest place was about 2 to 3 km away. The person on the phone couldn’t tell me which places were open. Breakfast would be from 7am but as I had to leave earlier than that I went without that also. I felt that all the hotel wanted from me was to pay for the night and anything else was up to me. Saying service was poor is wrong; there was no one around so service didn’t exist. I feel like I’ve been charged a lot of money for a bed and wash (with a thimble size bottle of shampoo/body soap combined). This is the first poor rating I have ever given. A hotel to avoid.
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast was very good, evening meal ok
Cons: Saturday Buffet meal not good value
7.5 Good
Pros: The evening meal was outstanding. Delicious tastes and excellent service.
Cons: Have to pay the minute we got in the door before we had seen the accommodation. Having to pay cash for the meal as the host would not accept card payment but would accept it for the accommodation which seemed very strange. The breakfast was a bun fight as they only had one coffe machine for 180 guests!!
4.0 Okay
Pros: It was clean and basic
Cons: The manager/owner was rude , and spent half the night shouting at his staff (ruined the end of our evening meal)
5.4 Okay
Pros: Bike store
Cons: Closed restaurant, bar
