Pros: I absolutely loved my stay with Roy & Jo in their adorable BnB. I felt like I was staying with dear friends and they hosted me like I was part of their family. Breakfast was SO GOOD and more food than I could eat! They gave me great recommendations for what to see and do in the area, and always made sure I was comfortable and prepared for my days. My favorite thing was being in my room with the huge windows open to the sunny terrace overlooking the river and bridge. I really hope to come back again!!!

Pros: Clean, very clean, but also very beautiful, art nouveau period gem, lots of lovely ceramics, chandeliers, art objects and furniture... but not a museum, it was a very comfortable B&B, good bed, excellent bathroom, lovely view over the river and all for what seemed a bargain price to me. I also liked the owners and their dogs very much. I would stay again if I get the chance to be down there.
Cons: Nothing I disliked -- it was virtually perfect.

Pros: Location in a beautiful quiet village in the mountains near Quillan with great mountain views (if you walk to the edge of the village which is tiny). The owners have created a beautiful courtyard garden with another just a step away which has a swimming pool. A truly delightful oasis in which to sip on a glass of wine and read your book. Bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious.

Pros: The room had a direct exit to the nice garden and a beautiful view of the mountains, and the bed was excellent. great breakfast included.
Cons: The bathroom had a moldy smell to it. Also, we had trouble getting an excess to the WiFi and the owner didn’t seem to mind or care and made us feel as though we bother him when asked for help.

Cons: Room was spartan. No kettle and tea making facilities. Mattress was hard. Lighting poor.

Pros: Very nice welcome by the host. The host had already warmed our room before our arrival. He gave us plenty of nice tips about the area. And the included breakfast was very nice, including some local and home-made produce. The accommodation was modern, functional and clean with a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains.

Pros: The host was very personable! He did some laundry for us at no charge. Unfortunately, the dryer wasn’t working properly and we had to take out wet clothes! The breakfast was adequate. I felt restricted on the food.

Le Papillon Magique - Quillan - Bedroom
4
9.6 Excellent (51 reviews)
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location is great on a hillside on the outskirts of Quillan with a lovely mountain view. The house and the grounds are maintained meticulously by the owners - The room was super clean and I had the feeling the place was brand new. Very nice breakfast location on the terrace overlooking the view. The breakfast itself is very generous with a great choice of different options offered. Bed was super comfortable.
Cons: Not much to say here as this was a great B&B. The only minor thing I would suggest is that it would be good to have some bath soap in the shower so you don't have to use the hand soap from the bathroom sink to wash yourself - a small shelf in the shower to place thinks like soap would also be good.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great wifi. Modern comfy room, all wallplugs etc in the right places, super friendly and helpful hosts. Sumptuous breakfast.
Cons: We found our door latch difficult to master, but that's may have been just us. We hadn't come across this type before
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautifull view from your room to the mountains. Good shower and SUPER breakfast
Cons: Road can be noisy at times when sitting outsite. Insite you don't hear it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic B and B on the edge of town. Without doubt the best location in Quillan, elevated with the most fantastic view. Fantastic hosts who served the most fantastic breakfast. Will definitely go back. Soon
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I’ve stayed in many B & B’s but never have I stayed in one which could be considered an equal to Le Papillon Magique. It was exceptional in ever way. The host, Als, was very pleasant and attentive and served a beautiful breakfast each morning. Highly recommended and should I find myself in the Pyrénées again, I will be staying in L.P.M.
Cons: There really wasn’t anything not to like.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very good breakfast and nice hosts
Cons: It was varm in the room, so could recommend a fan in the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bed are very comfortable and we had an amazing breakfast, Thank you very much for everything.
8.3 Excellent
Cons: Noisy road
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very welcoming hosts - was offered refreshments on arrival. Recommended restaurants and even offered to book for us. Showed us a route to follow to see the area. Provided fantastic breakfast - different breads and croissants, cheeses and ham, homemade yogurt and jams, fresh fruit, very good coffee and a great choice of loose leaf teas. Great to be able to eat breakfast on outside veranda.
Cons: Room quite small and no air conditioning. Had to leave patio door ajar - even though it could be locked in that position. Bedside 'tables' very small. No room to leave book. A mirror in the bedroom would have been useful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was new and comfortable. The host was very informative about places to eat and things to see. Breakfast was exceptional with many things to choose from. She had lovely gardens set up for her guests to enjoy and a beautiful yard. We enjoyed the quietness this place had to offer.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Misha and Bryan were excellent hosts. The room was clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was outstanding - delicious with lots of variety. Our hosts were warm and welcoming and provided helpful tips on local attractions. We highly recommend a stay here.
Cons: n/a
6.8 Good
Pros: 1) Warm welcome, Misha quickly found an accommodation for my bicycle. 2) The room was clean and tidy, very comfortable, with plenty of fruit, water, wine, coffee, teas, shower gel, shampoo, bathrobes and more. 3) In a scorching-hot day the stone walls provided much needed refreshment. 4) Breakfast was among the best I've had in recent times.
Cons: 1) Tried to contact the host the day before to discuss reservation details, no reply, no call back. 2) One of the hosts started fixing dinner quite noisily, well after 11 pm, had to wait until they were finished to try to get asleep. 3) One of the hosts (the same?) slept with the bedroom door open, with loud snoring perfectly amplified by the stairwell to be heard in the whole house. I may be wrong but he sounded pretty drunk, and looked definitely hung over in the morning - not an ideal way to make guests feel at ease, I'd say. 4) Noisy drunkards right outside the windows all night long. Not the hosts' fault of course, but still a factor. They swore this "never happened before", a phrase I have heard way too often in my travelling.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was a lovely b&b - clean and fresh, large comfortable bed and good shower. Lovely French decor - super location in nice square in old village, and next to river. We parked free right outside. The hosts were delightful and very generous - the room had everything you could want in it (bottle of wine, playing cards, coffee machine, nibbles, masses of toiletries) and breakfast was great. Oh and they spoke English. This area is a beautiful part of France, and the town well located for viewing the Cathar chateaux and Pyrenees. Highly recommend to others.
Cons: Nothing - everything was perfect. but note there are some stairs if this is a problem for you. We didn’t mind at all - and the hosts carried our luggage for us.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely little B&B, so comfortable and quaint, in a great location with a warm, friendly host Misha.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Mischa was wonderful, the breakfast was delicious and the room was amazing. The bedroom was huge with loads of space and the bathroom was luxurious and sparkling. There were lots of little treats in the room, coffee, a variety of teas, bottled water and a bowl of fruit. The location was really convenient for Quillan's shops, cafes and bars, plus the market and an easy walk to the station with transport to Carcassonne for one euro! Shadrak and Floyd Mischa's two purring black cats were so friendly and cream on the cake.
Cons: Nothing about the accommodation. I visited Quillan in the summer and it was buzzing, so the only thing was that the town was quiet in comparison, but that is down to the time of year.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A wonderful welcome from Brian and Michsa who even offered to do some laundry for us as we were on s walking trip. Perfect location on a town square overlooked by the Chateau and on some great walking routes. The house has been very tastefully refurbished and the bed was very comfy. Excellent breakfast and also tea, coffee fruit and biscuits in the room.

Le Pont Vert Chambres d'hôtes - Campagne-sur-Aude - Outdoors view

9.3 Excellent (68 reviews)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It was extremely convenient for sites of interest (Cathar castles). The immediate location looked a bit scrappy but was actually very quiet and fine. It's just off a main road from Limoux to Maury. There's nothing of interest locally so you do need transport. The room had tea and a kettle which was a nice change.
Cons: Everything was fine.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Helen was a great host. And being from England speaks English very well of course. Was very helpful by providing maps of the places we wanted to hike, and breakfast was excellent. Our room was charming. The location was excellent. Very close to Rennes Les Bains, Pech Cardou, and Pic Bucharach.
Cons: The room was delightful, but the hallway seemed a bit musty. Wasn't a bother, but am including this for people that might have health issues that this might affect. The room was fine though.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host was very friendly and was good conftable bed, nice shower and all this for a good price
Cons: The bridge to the house is very narrow, car just fitted and had to turn in backwards in the darkness it was very tricky. For the rest no remarks

10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a wonderful place with such a warm welcome. In the heart of the country, just next to a spring. Helen was helpful in every way. I wholeheartedly recommend Le Pont Vert
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host Helen is warm and professional. The beds are comfortable, plus for the excellent organic breakfast with fresh croissants, youghurt, cheese and fruitsalad. Wonderful location.
Cons: I do not like that Booking.com withdraw the payment several days in advance though it says clearly on the website that the owner wants to be paid cash. We were two people sharing the room and we wanted to pay half each with separate receipts. I find it very strange that Booking.com refused to meet the request to put half the amount back on my credit card and let my friend pay the rest with hers.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and comfortable, easy access to local villages.
Cons: Nothing

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The whole ambience, of this property exceeded our expectations. Beautifully run, staff very attentive and helpful. Food amazing, we had lunch, evening meal and buffet breakfast suberb!! Birthday treat for my husband, we highly recommend this Château and would definitely visit again.
Cons: Not applicable
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I profoundly pity anyone who does not fall in love with this Chateau. My husband and I absolutely fell in love with it! This was our second visit (the first was to the restaurant a year ago; we came back just to stay in the hotel itself and dine at the restaurant each night!) The history of the chateau, the area, its exquisite early Renaissance architecture, the luxurious design touches in the rooms, the fabulous medieval and Cathar inspired artwork lining the hallway walls, the gorgeous serenity of the countryside, the sound of the rushing river behind the hotel... How sad if this is not enough for you! Additionally, the facilities are terrific: AC, wifi, easy parking, comfortable beds, heated pool, private bathrooms with thoughtful touches (such as a mini sewing kit, shoe shine, information on the region, great lighting, etc.) Most importantly, the staff are PHENOMENAL. They are the epitome of excellence: courteous, friendly, knowledgable, definitively experts at hospitality. The elegance, amity and thoughtful kindness we experienced was unforgettable. (Also the restaurant is SUPERB!!!) We got excellent wine recommendations each night and savored the regional wines!
Cons: We loved everything!!!
8.3 Excellent

Cons: Na
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Our welcome was excellent and the evening meal was superb - good service and wonderful food. The courtyard dining al fresco worked well and very pleasant.
Cons: Too many cushions on the bed for a standard room which made it cluttered on the floor The pillows (1 each ) were uncomfortable - not sure if there were others available. Acoustics could be improved between floors
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Not the cheapest of places to stay but well worth the cost for the setting and charm. A top class meal in delightful surroundings with an excellent menu to choose from and a stunning wine list.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful food, service and setting in an historic building with lovely pool
Cons: Nothing of note in Couiza
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Warmly welcomed back after many years, the stay was a special treat! The setting, atmosphere and history of the place matched with brilliant staff made it for me!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful rooms, delicious food. An amazing place
Cons: Because it’s an old chateau there are many steps to the second floor rooms and no elevator/no room service. Mini bars would therefore be helpful and enough tea bags /coffee for more than 1 person if two people are staying. Ask for first floor rooms to avoid this. Food is served in a courtyard. It is delicious but because it is outside, people were smoking. This was a little off putting

Pros: Everything!!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful peaceful mountain village location. Comfy property with lovely views and good facilities. Proximity to Rennes le Chateau and Rennes les Bains. Good breakfast.
Cons: Really hard to find anywhere to eat. The very few restaurants we did manage to find were either closed or 'not serving food' (?!) The male owner wasn't helpful regards suggesting anywhere. There were cooking facilities if you thought ahead and took your own food. We wanted to eat out. I accidentally knocked a little pot bedside lamp off the bedside stool and it cracked. It had a curved base and wasn't very stable. I took it straight down to Reception to tell the owners. The male owner showed a displeased face and charged me 20 Euros which was a little disappointing. The lady owner was friendlier than the man, but neither were particularly warm.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: For a city dweller like me, Jardin de la Sals was definitely rustic... BUT it still had all the modern bathroom features etc that you would want and the overall beauty and peace of the location (and the kindnesses of Nicole) easily eclipsed any rural quirks. It's absolutely gorgeous and the lounge room with kitchen facilities and allocated space for all guests to store/make food was an unlooked-for bonus. It doesn't have air-conditioning but the owners were completely right when they said that it isn't needed (thick stone walls) and I slept well every night.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A remote place but just amazing accommodation and welcome
6.8 Good
Pros: Very kind, friendly, hospitable staff.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very convenient location in Quillan, right on a central plane tree road. Car parking is free in Quillan, and you can park usually directly in front of the house. Comfortable bed, simple room, shower ok, nice view through fabulous windows onto the street. Very quiet in spite of its position. Restaurants within walking distance, warm welcome from the guys.
Cons: A TV would have been nice and a small fridge for milk/wine etc. I kept my milk on the balcony as it was cold enough at night.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Extremely warm welcome by the hosts to a cozy multi-story private home apartment where the hosts live. Unexpectedly great breakfast with homemade jams, fruit salad and everything one doesn't expect in a French breakfast. Nice conversations with hosts giving good advice and restaurant recommendation within walking distance. Supermarket across the street. A room with a hammock on the top floor made for a relaxed stay.

Pros: Lovely staff and proprietor, simply superb food, and always immaculately clean. They had a specials menu on as it was a festival evening and the veal in particular was superb. I’ve stayed there before on my own, and been very happy. My partner was just delighted with our trip. She in particular loved breakfast with it’s lbeautiful artinisal preserves as well as the normal range of eggs, cooked meats and delicious breads. We bought some of the preserve to bring home as it was just amazing. Can’t wait to return in cooler weather to dine on their cassoulet which I know from past experience is wonderful !
