Very clean hotel, lovely staff, and a very short walk into the town without the expensive prices. Staff were always ready to help. The closeness to the train station was great, and any noise was blocked by the double soundproofed windows.
Friendly welcome, clean rooms, secure parking. Further than expected from the city, some noise from the railway running next to hotel.
The owner was very friendly. The secure parking for our motorcycle was very welcome. The hotel is a 15 minute walk across 2 bridges and an island to reach the city (we walk quite quickly)! The pillow was so hard I couldn't use it as it was like sleeping on a log.
This booking was made by me for my parents as they travelled through France and they said the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
Convenient for access to the town centre. Breakfast could be improved.
Friendly and accommodating staff, comfortable room, off-road parking, good breakfast
friendliness and helpfullness
Ok isolation against street noise. Bathroom no luxury, but ok standard. Nice parking area. Approx 10 min. walk to town center. No airconditioning. Room with windows towards the street resulted in a warm night! Hard bed.
1minites de la gare. it is very convinient for the touriste by train. The room is very simple ,but enough. en plus there is bathtab, ca me plait beaucoup.
Host was very helpful and breakfast was good Noisy as near railway, which was busy all night
the location was very good as it was centrally located for visiting the town of Angers. Car parking was also a bonus. The breakfast selection could be better but was adequate for the price.
Beautifull building and interior very helpful staff Breakfast fair but expensive
The staff were attentive. The bed was comfortable. The room was miniscule and the bathroom a shoebox.By far the smallest room of the five hotels we stayed in.
Very lovely building, staff, easy location to find off the main roads. Parking lot.
Just a one night stopover, this was in a quiet location but still close to restaurants and shops. Our room was quite small, but they welcome dogs which is essential for us. We ate at the Novo restaurant around the corner which was excellent.
We enjoyed the quiet calm of the hotel, near the centre of Angers. The room was spacious and the staff very helpful. It was useful having parking in a private courtyard in front of the hotel.
Staff were very helpful and experienced. The Hotel is as described on your website. Breakfast costs....which, in France, are now separate from the room...seemed high for what was available on the buffet.
Well-heated room and comfortable bed. The quaint architecture of the building and the fact that it is the site of some interesting parts of Angers City's history. Central location but yet extremely quiet. Private car park. Service provided by hotel's internet provider did not seem to be stable somehow. And this was not a problem of signal reception as it was always "very good" in the room I was (internet explorer kept freezing and I had to switch my computer on and off to get connected to internet again).
Very friendly staff. Central but quite location with many nice restaurants around. Big and clean room.
The location was perfect with city parking available. The courtyard would have been a good place for a beer under the tree if beer was available.
Staff were friendly, room was very clean, breakfast was very good Layout of the room was not ideal (i.e. no light in the shower so hard to see if you had the curtains closed), road works outside was a bit of a hassle (though not the fault of the hotel).
Very central and clean Stuff can't speak English and the hotel is certainly not on 'a stone throe' from the train station
had a family room which was two adjacent rooms - lots of space. friendly staff. Basic, spacious and near to lovely town centre. No tea making facilities.
No elevator and no free parking next to the hotel. Shower is not separated from the room by a wall so if you are travelling with friends that should not see you naked then you have a problem.
very close to the old town and its restaurant area. it came with TV when it was such a low price and private and shower included. when I arrived at the hotel only around 7 pm, the entrance was locked and I couldn't see the hotel staff right inside, it looked I couldn't get in the hotel at first. Finally I phoned the hotel number from my mobile phone, and they answered, and gave me the access code to open the main entrance door, I didn't expect this since it wasn't 11pm but only around 7:30 pm. What if I didn't have my mobile phone, which was capable to make an international call in front of the hotel, i hadn't known how to get in the hotel then. People should be warn in advance that the reception seems to be closed much earlier than normal hotels, so that people need to contact the hotel before their arrival to obtain the access code to open the main entrance door.
Reception desk closed most of the time. Breakfast sometimes not served, for no reason. more like a hostel than a hotel.
Large room and bathroom, excellent location for shopping and going out in angers. Reception closed when we arrived at 3pm, doorbell didn't answer, had to call to get them to answer then waited 20 mins for them to arrive. Warning for future non-French speaking customers, the staff do not speak any English at all. Makinging the inital problem of the hotel being locked until you call to tell them you have arrived, very difficult!!!!!! Also no car parking available close by and free of charge.
The Hotel was a convenient location. The guests were very quiet. I paid for 3 nights and noted on my reservation that we would be arriving at 6 am. We went to the hotel, rang the bell and could not get anyone to come to the door. We found another hotel lobby near by to rest and get out of the cold. It was not until 7:30 am that I was able to ring again and get the attention of someone. Also we had to ask for towels, did get them, yet only 1 time.
kindness of the staff and good breakfast
Good to have anfordable Hotel in the Centre of Anger walking distance of all the facilities
An excellent cental location with good parking
Spotlessly clean, good position & parking, excellent buffet breakfast.Good service. None
Great cental location. Most staff very helpful. Room light and clean. Carparking suits small cars. One very miserable receptionist!
The rooms were comfortable
Good city centre location. Rooms clean & comfortable Minimal continental breakfast.
The Receptionist was very helpful.
Kind attention to klient The design of carpet in the stairway
Very friendly and helpful staff. Nicely decorated rooms - very clean and tidy. Quiet hotel - but in the middle of Saumur.
The staff was excellent in helping us during our stay. They were always available and provided us with local information and suggestions for sightseeing, restaurants, etc. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with space for luggage. The bathrooms were in excellent condition. The hotel is very conveniently located for exploring Saumur and the region. There is, of course, no elevator in the hotel, so my only suggestion is to other customers: pack light, or be prepared to haul your suitcases up several flights of stairs. Perhaps France could curb its current unemployment crisis by hiring "bell boys" for hotels such as this, who would help with carrying customers' baggage up several flights of stairs! :>)
very friendly and helpful front desk in the afternoon when we arrived - quiet position - very central - ideal family room - challenging car park!! but very useful
Hotel was basic but what it provided was good. Good location. Car parking good and cheap overnight (public secure car park near station). Good cafe downstairs
Staff very friendly and helpful Room very basic, no shower, no fridge
The view of the square and fountain from French windows with a little balcony. The rooms were spacious and clean. The corridors smelt of smoke.
Good location, Parking, Internet avaliable. Room was normal. It is 3 star good quality hotel, but not 4 star.
Breakfast poor. No Sat T/v
Good location -good value for money - you get what you pay for -decor tired, but room spotless Faulty boiler meant no hot water on 2 occasions!
The staff were very friendly and happy to advise on the city of Angers. Considering the proximity of the hotel to the station I was amazed at how quiet the rooms were.
Obliging staff, convenient location, quiet. no minibar (I don't want the drinks, but I hate not having anywhere to keep things cold)
Hotel is nice for its price. Basic, but clean and cosy. The breakfast is good. I did like much the historic "spirit" of the house: It is built from thick wooden timbers, which are nicely demonstrated in the lobby. Room was not big.
This is a great hotel, conveniently located near the station and close to the city centre. The staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel is nicely decorated and was beautifully clean. Our room was very comfortable and we enjoyed very good breakfast. As has been said, the soundproofing is excellent, although traffic is minimal during the night. We were travelling by bicycle and the hotel had storage space for these and we were able to leave the bikes during a day spend touring the city. We wouldn’t hesitate to return.
quiet rooms and efficient staff. Good breakfast.
Friendly staff, good simple fare.
location and staff
The staff at the hotel was fantastic! Everyone we came into contact with was helpful and kind. The hotel itself was a great value for the price. A wonderful place to stay.
Good value for money and very friendly staff. The hotel is well located and parking is easy. The breakfst is a little bit expensive but very good. Maybe the price of the breakfast (an option to have a smaller, simple, cheaper breakfast than the buffet)
beautiful garden, nice surroundings, private terrace with chairs outside the room, nice restaurant with good food, good wines, friendly staff no
The owner, who's also working at reception, is exceptionately friendly and helpful. We loved the rooms inside the main building / chateau, which very very attractively decorated, comfortable and clean. What a wonderful experience to stay in the French countryside in such a lovely hotel!!
Nice bathroom. Comfy big room Receptionist seemed rather busy elsewhere and took a while to come over from her "house".
Good restaurant, plenty of space in he room and the grounds, swimming pool and 10 mins drive from Saumur No
reception very helpful. quiet, rural location
Everything. The room was beautifully appointed, the restaurant is amazing, the grounds are serene no
Excellent staff and welcome. Good beds. Good park with lake. Food was disappointing.
Pleasant welcome and lovely spacious room and bathroom under the roof. Attractive grounds
very nice room and surroundings. no.
Beautiful stately home, and even though our room (the cheapest!) wasn't in the main building, it was still gorgeously decorated and luxurious; my girlfriend fell in love with the four poster bed! The restuarant was also excellent, with a wide range of dishes for non-meat eaters - but be warned: it is closed on Monday and the nearest eaterie is some distance away. Overall a lovely experience.
Location convenient Room a little dated and the school playground next door encouraged early rising
Monsieur and Madame Dalac were wonderful hosts, making us feel at home. They helped us with arrangements for visiting places and with reservations. The hotel was conveniently located to the historic center of Saumur; it was clean and charming. We would recommend Le Volney for anyone appreciating a warm welcome, lovely atmosphere, good location, and a personal touch to services.
the hotelier was very helpful and friendly. It was fairly centrally located We managed to park for free by the sea but other wise may have had to pay 10 euro to park next to the hotel
Town centre location, friendly staff, nearby free parking, good sized room.
The location was close to the city centre and there was a free car park within 100m of the hotel. The bath in the bathroom was appreciated. The stairs were slightly awkward and it could be difficult to find the hotel without satnav.
Staff where very friendly, beautiful big hotel room, great location, good value for money. I would stay there again.
We used this hotel for an overnight stop as we drove through France to Spain. We arrived quite late (8pm). We only saw one member of staff at the small reception - he was extremely helpful and gave us details of where we could part the car very locally for free. We had not complaints about the hotel, it suited our purpose exactly. The only small criticism was that the room was quite warm and there was no air conditioning.
Staff friendliness, price, big bathroom, comfortable bed, good soundproofing, location The room may need a bit of renovating, especially the carpet, but it was fine for the price we paid.
Nice, familiary hotel, kind, helpfull services
The family style welcome at the hotel. Each guest gets a personal welcome. The shower connection on the bath!
Reception staff were extremely helpful with useful information and directions. Also very friendly and accomodating.
Care from the hotel staff. Breakfast made with bio products.
The staff was very helpful when we arrived early in the morning (before 6:30 A.M.) on our check-in date. They were also accommodating when we had to stay and extra night and add one person.
excellent location in front of the station. Breakfast was nice. Price is not so high but we are not in Paris as well nothing particular.
Nice French feel , convenient parking, good breakfast. Traffic mayhem around the hotel when we first arrived around 19.00hrs could not park to book-in. OK an hour later.
secure car parking even though they were a short walk from the hotel.breakfast good
Excellent location, clean room Jcb credit card was not accepted
Location was excellent, just opposite to the train station. Staff were very friendly Room was a bit small
It was clean... atleast bedsheets were... Hotel stuff indifference to anything; - Ex: - during breakfast some fruit fell on the floor and when we left 30 mins later, it was still there with hotel stuff stepping over it and ignoring the mess... makes you wonder what else they ignore
early closing of restaurant
The room was comfortable and a good size for a family of 4. the bathroom was clean and the shower was good.
easy to find, rooms well laid out and comfortablewe we selected the hotel because it had a resteraunt on site, after traveling all day we did not want to have to go out again for a Meal. On arrival we were told the restaraunt was not open , no explanation .we had to eat out at a Bufalo Grill, we were very disappointed!
The room was large and pleasant. The continental breatfast was reasonable. The Internet did not work - they use Noodo Wifi, I could not get this to work. When I tried to register it, it said I was already registered. It would give me passwords that did not work and would say I was not registered. In other hotels, the Internet works fine and I have no trouble. The Internet is an important consideration for me in the choice of a hotel.
easy to find and although we arrived late arrangements had been made for us to get into our rooms No for what we wanted it was ideal
The staff were both friendly and helpful The entire reception/admin closed at 7pm
The manager was very hospitable. The rooms were clean and conveniently located. Breakfast was very expensive.
free wifi. good room and bathroom. quiet. if you dont have a car you cannot stay here. it is kilometres away from the city centre and practically no public transport. No lift available.
Near highway and Angers The window of the rom was near the highway
Able to have an adjoining room for kids, and also kids eat free at breakfast. There is a Buffallo Grill 5 minute walk away. Located in an industrial estate, need a car to access anything. Daunting walk back in the evening from the Buffalo Grill as the hotel was in darkness as if it was closed down.
Pillows are awfully uncomfortable and very small. A minor annoyance is that the air conditioning is turned off at night causing you to become too hot by 0600. Alternative was to open window but noise to great then.
The restaurant - food is excellent (a la carte), breakfest - very good. Very comfortable bed! Not only shower but as well bathtub in the room. Could be excellent for the conferences, seminars. Shopping centre near the hotel. Beautiful nature - park across the road - spend 2 wonderful evenings away from business dinners and city noises! :) Not in walking distance from the city centre. Taxi cost was 15 EUR from railway station to the hotel. However - there is bus stop near the hotel.
cleanliness. helpful staff too far from city centre
Modern and clean, simple but with everything needed.
Parking privé et fermé la nuit. Environnement très moche. Restaurant très moyen.
only used the bar as we arrived late, barman give us his time at the end of the night to talk to us.
We arrived on motorbikes which normally scares people however staff were very friendly and helpfull even sorted a hire car for us. Rooms excellent and very clean with great showers!!
Clean and refurbished bedrooms. Good value if you get special offer but I would never pay full price for that kind of bedroom. Good food in restaurant but the colour changing wall effect with the LEDs become very annoying after a few minutes...
The staff were very helpful, friendly and the secure parking was a huge bonus. The hotel was very well positioned in the city centre. There was no lift available, the reception was on the first floor and our room was on the second.
Access to shops Parking was a little difficult
The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was very comfortable and the location was excellent. We requesting overnight parking and it was all arranged when we arrived.
The only downfall was no lift, but there was help with your bags if you needed it.
central steep stairs
Good hotel with central location. Good rooms. Good recommendations for restaurants. Noisy street so keep windows closed. minor issues with door lock on toilet
This is a super hotel in the heart of the city. Recently renovated, the décor is tasteful and imaginative, and has been finished to a very high standard. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. Our room was comfortable and well thought out, and with a little balcony overlooking the street for evening entertainment! We saw the good secure parking but made use of the excellent bicycle storage facilities. Thoroughly recommended.
Staff were charming, hotel was delightful, well appointed and has private parking near the center of town. Would happily stay here again.
The owners and staff were very helpfull and welcoming. Breakfast was fresh and included homemade chocolate cake! Hotel was easy to find and central. Private car parking.
Friendly staff, good location, comfortable and well appointed rooms.
Quiet and well organised
Extremely friendly & helpful staff. Convenient parking garage nearby. Excellent breakfast.
Location, car park across the road, cleanliness of the room and hotel. There is no lift and my room was on the 3rd floor although the staff helped with suitcases.
We liked the hotel's space, central location and wifi availability. Secure parking was close by though street parking may have been available.
Hotel was very clean and also comfortable. The location was good and staff friendly. Parking is right opposite and plenty of restraunts to choose from. It was hard to find.I feel more sign posts should be in the streets directing youto the hotel location. We had to go to the tourism office to ask for directions
Really easy to find and right next to cheap car park. Helpful staff
Compact, comfortable and clean room in easy walking distance of all main city centre facilities and attractions including bars and restaurants. Good parking for the weekend at the nearby multistory car park. Very helpul knowledgeable and polite reception staff. Good value.
Nice and quiet hotel with friendly staff. Location in the City Center with good parking facilities. None :-)
Very clean and an agreable design.Close centre ville and railway station.Very good comfort/price.
Staff was great
Welcome, clean good location The room(s) had a very odd layout - the toilet was about 2 feet away from the bed head..
Nice clean hotel, I would recommend and it is right beside the train station so very easy to find.
Very pleasant , helpful and attentive staff, very very clean rooms. Good location, just far enough away from the noise of the town centre. Cheap multi storey car park opposite. Fair selection of restaurants nearby. For the money, it is unbeatable. A shower curtain would be useful and air con.
Location (close to train station), staff's friendliness, cleanliness of room
friendly, good breakfirst, easy to find and easy to visit the beautifull city, easy and cheap to park the car at the station
The staff were welcoming and friendly. The room was clean and quiet. Hotel was in a convenient location opposite the station.
very clean. location was good - central. staff very friendly would like to have had a shower screen, or curtain, in the bathroom.
The hotel is nice and good value. The breakfast was very good. The highlight of my stay was the staff who were very warm and friendly.
Very good friendly informative staff. At breakfast the staff was excellent. Very good food and drink; wide ranging items and excellent quality. Nice bright decor and with a well thought and designedcalming view from the salon window.Well thought out, well done! Perfectly satisfied
Clean, smart, friendly and efficient
Friendly stuff, easy booking, no englsih speaking TV station. At least one english speacing tv station should be available
It's quiet and has a fine restaurant. There's a bus stop about 200 metres away and could take you to the city centre within 20 minutes. It's not that convenient if you travel by public transports. There's not any service later than 7:30pm although the bus stop is just 2 minutes away.
Simplicity, you kno wwhat to expect at a Campanille
Restaurant on site aftera day travelling was very helpful and enjoyable, good value meal.
Easy and quick access to rooms from parking Noisy street, bad flushing of shower
Too near to other traffic and to other hotels Not eay to find. I think it would have been incredibly for a non-French speaker to find. More directions are needed
a tea kettle in the room
the price no tea or coffee makinging and only one seat
The low ceiling height and the access to the bunk bed
The hotel was clean and a short walk from the City Centre Bunk bed not suitable for adults - we werte two males travelling together. Overall, much to cramped. The following nights we went to Campanile!
easy access to room from outside Rooms a bit cramped. Could not find hotel at first. clearer directions on printout would have been better, like turn first right on entering ecoparc
Very convenient for Saumur. The morning manager was very helpfull. A credit to your company. Other guests were white van drivers who began making excesive noise from approx 4.30am
Thoughtful choice of connecting rooms for us and our children. Very pleasant outside area for sitting Much improved breakfast! Insufficient tables at breakfast - and two people occupying tables meant for six, leaving smaller tables empty!
It was easy to find and, while a basic hotel, it did have everything we needed for an overnight stop. Breakfast was good value too!
The address given did not correspond with the satnav and so it was very difficult to find - others were phoning for instructions while we were there, obviously having the same problem.
It was a small room, but was a perfect place to crash for one night and the balcony had an amazing view of the chateau in Saumur and breakfast was included. You couldn't beat the price, that's for sure.
good breakfast. rather noisy but value for money.
Nice location next to a pictuesque park, basic but comfortable rooms. This hotel is located a little out of town so it's better if you have a car.
Good value, clean room, comfortable beds, good breakfast. No lid on the toilet, no cups for breakfast drinks (only bowls).
Good localisation and friendly price Nothing
Good value for money - clean, friendly, budget accommodation. Located within park.
Somewhere where we felt welcome and enjoyed a peaceful nights sleep We had great difficulty locating the place. We eventulally stopped to ask someone and were told the place was just across the road amongst some trees, but there was no sign to indicate that it was there. A sign board would have helpful. For some reason the Sat Nav did not get us to the area.
The location was the best part together with the excellent restaurant, the set meal was very good indeed. The lack of a lift could be difficult for people with poor mobility. Generally we found that all breakfasts during our week's stay in France were rather expensive compared with the cost and quality of the evening meals
The location by the riverbank and centre and in the shadow of the Chateau was impressive and easy access to the train station 1.7 km walk just across the bridges. Also that the hotel had a restaurant and bar Lack of wardrobe or clothes hanging facilities
Would like more storage, coat hooks, ledge in bathroom
Execellent Restuarant food outstanding. No Hotel Parking but not a problem
The view from our bedroom was lovely - overlooking La loire and two of its bridges, but we already knew that from previous visits. Upon booking back in February I did ask for room 20 on the first floor. When we arrived we were put into room 26 in the annexe on the 2nd floor with 42 steps on a very winding staircase. We had this room last time and that is the reason we did not want it. The room itself, once we were in, had a lovely view of La Loire but we were very disappointed to be given number 26. Although my husband and I are pretty fit (77 and 72) the 42 steps each time up to the room were a struggle, especially carrying luggage.
Pleasant family run hotel with charming staff and a good restaurant. Hotel was a little old fashioned but clean tidy and had character. No lift
breakfast was good but very short on staff -- we had to ask every morning for more sugar --- we werent the only ones . T he location is excellent --- bistro appeared also to be very good felt that the brochure over glamourised the picture of bedrooms --- our " double " bedroom was only in fact a four foot bed . there was no shade on the bedside lamp and the lighting was very poor
Ceiling in bathroom too low - unable to stand upright 6! 2" tall.
The hotel was centrally placed for Saumur and had public (free) car parking overnight outside the door. Misinformation about a non existent exhibition the next morning which meant that I had to move my car on the evening of arrival rather than leave it outside the hotel to a slightly further away car park. Also, bedding from the previous occupants was left lying in one of the chests of drawers in the room and had not been removed after cleaning that morning.
I found the bed very uncomfortable as it was too soft and too low. This meant that it caused back ache and was difficult to get out of. There was no reception room in which to sit and wait for friends or transport.
Sitting on the patio enjoying the view of the castle while drinking a glass of wine and eating Brie cheese. great atmosphere
I had stayed at this hotel before and liked it very much. I love the architectural style of the building which is very elegant. Excellent location. Helpful friendly staff. I had booked a double "Prestige Room" for single occupancy but I later requested a twin bedded room, when a friend decided to join me on my trip. Whilst the twin bedded room was perfectly comfortable, I would not have described it as "Prestige".
Hotel setting and staff were both excellent, also well positioned for restaurants etc. Rooms was a bit scruffy and could do with fresh lisk of paint, coffee at breakfast was terrible
Great Service, Restaurant across the courtyard was excellent too.
The ease of check in and check out Sattelite tv ? there were 3 channels
Friendly, helpful staff combined with a truly excellent historic location with views of both the chateau and the Loire; very convenient for walking to the centre of Saumur. Overall, nothing to note.
Comfortable hotel in an historic old building. Bit more expensve than I expected
We enjoyed the view from our room, 212. We appreciated the quiet for sleeping. There were three things that made us uncomfortable in the room. There was no real hot water for showering. The TV was difficult to operate. The lighting beside the bed was inadiquate. The lighting should be over the bed for reading purposes.
Position; views. Small but comfortable room. Pleasant, accommodating and helpful staff.
The helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. The noisy American party and the way they took over the peace of the courtyard
