B&B Den Engel - Kortenberg - Building
1
9.7 Excellent (261 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, comfort and cleanliness of the apartment is excellent! My family and I stayed in the Africa suite and we loved it! It reminded me of home. The host was very friendly and helpful. Thank you Adinda! We'll surely be back!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very welcoming host. Charming B&B with a beautiful garden, which we could access from our terrace. Our room, the Barn, also disposed of a small yet fully equipped kitchenette. The airco was also a nice to have given the outside temperatures when we were there! All in all, we immediately felt welcome, had a great stay and are looking forward to be back.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice room with air conditioning Good hospitality
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Den Engel is located in a small hamlet not far from Zaventem airport. The hamlet has a bank and a decent sized supermarket. The accommodation was very good and the lady in charge was well organised. Our accommodation was in what appeared to be a stables block of a 120 year old house. The kitchen, bathroom and lounge were on the ground floor and the bedroom and another toilet on the upper mezzanine floor. Upstairs was reached via a spiral staircase. The Internet worked OK and there were lots of channels on the TV. Depending on which way the wind is blowing you will hear aircraft if you sit in the garden. But the apartment walls are very thick and you could not hear anything once inside.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Extraordinary location!! A recommendation from us for all who wants to have a stay near Brussels. You should book incl. breakfast as this was so great. Rooms are clean and decorated with love and pleasure. The train from Kortenberg takes only 28 minutes to the center of Brussels. We booked just for one night to stop before travelling further. Joris and his wife were so kind and did everything for us to feel comfortable. Thanks a lot.

Pros: Handily placed near to Le Grand Place but supremely calm and quiet, the hotel exudes a relaxed air of luxury through its very helpful staff and decor. The beds are blissfully comfortable, the room has everything you need, the bathrooms are spacious, and both are spotless, air-conditioned and quiet. We ate in both the bar and restaurant and the food and service was excellent. But then the Forte family do exceedingly great hotels.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything is excellent!

Pros: Barbara emailed me before to ask when I was arriving and was absolutely charming on arrival. The room is large and airy, bathroom very large with an impressive shower and sky light. Lots of little touches which make a difference; chocolates and a first drink on the house. Coffee? Tea and water complimentary. A little gem close to the airport but yet rural. I woke up With the roosters!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Barbara is an amazing host, the rooms are large and well fitted, breakfast was delicious, and the reception was perfect. I am always sceptical of high scores on booking, but Barbara’s deserves that 10 and more. She even gave me some de-icer to help on a cold morning checkout.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel concept is simply awesome. The breakfast is the best way to start a working day....
Cons: //
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good position and not too large
Cons: Difficult to find, it needs bigger signs on the front and a shelf and magnifying mirror in the bathroom
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Was very impressed with the staff, super friendly and helpful
Cons: Liked everything
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Property was well located to explore Brussels on foot. Many of the local attractions are walkable from the hotel if fairly active/fit. The staff were all lovely and seemed to really enjoy their job. Very clean all over the hotel albeit a very small hotel
Cons: It’s a small hotel so the main irritations were about its size. Rooms small and shower room small One lift which is used by the cleaning staff etc (no service lift) which impacts on access to upper floors Breakfast is lovely if a little erratic - food served to guests irrespective of wanted or not - seems to be a waste of food. Ironically for a hotel called ‘Pillows’ the pillows were poor (very soft marshmallow like) although in fairness all hotels we visited in Europe had the same - we just prefer a firmer pillow
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The location is steps from the City Center.
Cons: While it is close to the City Center, is also close to some shadier neighborhoods. If you stay near the Center, you'll be fine, but even the staff recommended that visitors stay away from certain areas nearby.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cozy and comfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great sized rooms, excellent central location, super comfortable bed and amazing staff. Our welcome and induction from Fenna was outstanding. We were asked what our plans were during our stay in Brussels for Fenna to give us a list of sites to see in a very effective plan. The recommendation to eat moules-frites at Francois in St Catherine was spot on!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The service was exceptional! Upon arrival, we were greeted with a warm welcome and a choice of beverages. The rooms were exceptionally clean with a comfortable bed. We highly definitely this hotel.
Cons: One side of the hotel didn’t seem as safe as we would have liked.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully appointed hotel just a short walk from the Grand Place.
Cons: Shower has a glass door that will leak on the bathroom floor if you don’t use a towel to block the water. The beds were comfortable but the bedding, designed to prevent bed bugs, were rough.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was pet friendly and a bed and bowl were provided for our small dog. The hotel has private parking. The room was spacious, exceptionally clean and quiet. Bed was comfortable and large. Air conditioning was appreciated. Very happy overall.
Cons: A price of 50€ for hosting one pet, irrespective of the duration of your stay, so excessive if only staying one night as we were.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: No free parking
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean Quite Big rooms
Cons: Restaurant smells on the ground floor
10.0 Excellent
Pros: clean, nice interieur, good shower, kind staff, bag storage, bath robes and slippers in hotel, water boiler and nespresso in room

7.5 Good
Pros: Nice and helpfull staff, nice location
Cons: Not clean at all for a 4-star hotel, horrible smell everywhere...
8.3 Excellent
Pros: This property met my needs in terms of location, size of room and amenities, selection at breakfast, etc.
Cons: The air conditioning was not as cold as I am used to and did not do a good job at sucking out the humidity in the room. It was a damp cool and felt more like a fan.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location. Great hotel, comfortable and quite. Friendly stuff.
Cons: Poor in giving free water.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nothing to complain, really, very kind staff members, explained us everything. A little bit later check-out (I think it we’re 45 minutes or even an hour) was not a problem, cleaning personnel provided us with fresh towels and bed sheets. Bathroom is spacious and our view from 5th floor was outstanding. Great hotel and quite central located, about 10-15 walking minutes to the main beautiful square.
Cons: Not a real negative point, but rather one I don’t understand - the parking on the hotel territory costs 30€/night, however right in front of the hotel there is a (quite big) public parking which requires payment only from 9a.m. to, I think, 6 p.m., so the night parking is free and during the day you pay max 13.50 €. So if you don’t mind walking 10 meters to your car every day in the morning and buy a new ticket, would definitely recommend doing it this way.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable . Super clean and very nice staff . The front desk lady ( Spanish one)is súper profesional and extremely helpful. Cons: Alles perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cool atmosphere, great location, very comfortable beds.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: really funky comfortable hotel. Close to the Grand Place and Central train station.
6.8 Good
Pros: The staff were fantastic and always at your service. The coffee was really good and for free. The gym was great and super clean. the location perfect.
Cons: The rooms were rather stuff and smelly. The ac for some reason did not work so the nights rough and we had to keep the window open given that it was cooler outside however the noise was disturbing especially since we have a little one. The bathrooms need more cleaning. Just some gunk around the toilets and the showers. Really puts me off hotels when toilets are not clean. They had one light which was a white led and another which was warm white which just shows that maintenance is a little poor.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location is very good. Staffs are very nice.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was spectacular. The location, less than 5 min walk to the train station and to the grand place. The hassle free check-in/check-out process. It really took us seconds to do so. The room was ready although we booked 5 min before arrival. The funny encouraging and go-green phrases all over their products and services were very thoughtful. A big thanks to all the hotel staff for making our stay memorable. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
Cons: Absolutely nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is very close to shops, restaurants, the Grand Place, bars etc. The bed was super comfy. Before we even checked in, they had a baby cot for our son. They even have a pool table, coffee, water, and food/ snacks for purchase in the lobby.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were wonderful. I arrived early in the morning hours before check in, exhausted, and the person at the desk, booked me into a room immediately and I was able to rest.
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel, great location. Friendly staff. Nice to be able to have fresh water available in reception area. Food was also lovely. We also had a free upgrade to a ‘loft room’.
Cons: Not sure the ‘loft room’ we were upgraded to, was much of an upgrade. The lighting was poor (a bulb had blown in the main area), also it just meant there were steps to the bathroom, not that the room was necessarily larger. On our last morning the extractor fan dropped out of the shower ceiling narrowly missing my husband. When we reported it, we just got a bit of a lame apology. Spoilt our stay a bit.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was very comfortable. Staff was amazing. Very central.
Cons: Food was a bit pricey and my room smelled a little musky.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was TOTALLY worth it - they have a buffet but they also have a small menu you can order from. Get the Eggs Benedict for savory and the waffles for sweet (or both if you're me haha). The room was very nice but dark for my taste - not a lot of light and the furnishings were very dark. The bathroom as well. Also the standup shower was great but the back half of open with no for which was pretty but water goes EVERYWHERE. So put down lots of towels. The lobby was beautiful and staff was so friendly.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Probably the best hotel in Brussels. Great atmosphere and an excellent restaurant/bar.
Cons: Breakfast is nice, but somewhat average.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location and the place, nice staff
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable bed
10.0 Excellent
Pros: You don't even get the second foot in the door before you're greeted by friendly and welcoming staff waiting to attend to your every need. The breakfast (if you choose to have it included) is a fresh, healthy and great quality variety also with impeccable service and choices. The rooms are adequately sized and the beds and pillows are quite plush. There are slippers and robes for your added comfort and the tea selection in the room is great. The bathrooms are fully equipped and have a very modern and Chiq decor. Room service was a bit costly (as it is with most hotels) but this was because while the quality of the food was great and fresh, I really didn't enjoy the flavor. It is conveniently located between the trams and close to the Brussels midi station. Also, on Rue Louise there are all the major high end brands for clothing, jewelry, shoes and perfume, there are chocolatiers and other typically European magazines. Once you head out the revolving doors of Rue du Châtelain, and turn right, you will see that there are many cafés, bars, bistros, and magazines (shops) along the way. The cuisine is mainly, Italian, French and English, and there are Asian restaurants and a conveniently located liquor store to get your Belgian beer. There's also a food store further down. In the opposite direction, about a 30 min stroll away, there is the European Parliament, and the Grande Place that hosts many of the museums, a must see is the Music Museum, and a must have is the Belgian chips/fries and waffles. Hopefully this helps!
Cons: The dinner I ordered in room service was not a good taste for me.
9.3 Excellent

Pros: Location was great, near the Grand Square and Brussels Central Train Station. Room was large for European standard, with comfortable bed and air conditioning. There are not many rooms so the service was very personalised.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is very close to the train station and easy to get to landmark and points of interest from.
5.0 Okay
Cons: Very tired, rooms in need of refurbishment. Electrical units exposed and dirty aircon unit that appeared to have melted. Not particularly clean. Dated bathroom. Staff were miserable, our room wasn’t ready when we arrived and there was no apology, just told to return later. Wouldn’t stay here again, very expensive for what it is.

Pros: Amazing Studio bedroom fitted out to a high spec! . Only negative comment is that the advertised roof top sun deck looks out on to some fairly shabby apartments ... but if you turn a blind eye to that it’s 5*
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel was right in the middle of everything you would want to see. Taxis out front and all tourist sights like royal palace and statues are around the corner.

Pros: Attentive, helpful reception staff. Blissfully quiet room. Convenient location.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel's location is great, just 2 blocks from the Grand Place. From there you can walk almost everywhere. It's also 1 block from Bruxelles Central train station, which is very convenient if you need to travel to other cities or the airport. Facilities are superb. Our room was very big and had a terrace which we enjoyed a lot.
Cons: The double bed in our double room was in fact two twins together which made us sleep quite uncomfortably.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast could be improved; lack of planning for number of guests

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast with baguette, brown bread, cheese, charcuterie, jam, yoghurt, fruit sallad, müsli, croissant and fresh orange juice on top. Room no 7 was great, large, sleep well bed and pillow. Nice view of the green garden. Opposite was a libanese restaurant I would have tried if hungry. Easy walking distance (10 min) to the expo area.
Cons: Pricy, but all accomodation in Brussel is pricy, especially during expo periods.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Always a good breakfast every morning and such care and attention from all the staff. Excellent
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Really clean hotel. Room was nice. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Good shower (if you want a room with a shower, remember to ask for it. There are also rooms with just a bath). Good and fresh breakfast: bread was just baked, there is freshly squeezed orange juice as well as fresh fruitsalad. Also coffee was really good.
Cons: Somebody had TV on really laud for some nights. So even though it was really peaceful otherwise, earplugs were needed because of that TV noice from another room.
8.3 Excellent
Cons: While the shower was powerful and there was plenty of hot water, stepping in and out of the bath and the manipulation of the shower screen was not something anyone with restricted mobility would find easy.
9.5 Excellent
Cons: Stairs - but due to last minute booking and a larger event taking place in the greater Brussels area (Automobile Salon) during my stay, there was no availability on first floor.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I slept so well here which is always a good sign when you are travelling on business! It was very comfortable, spacious and super clean, I would definitely recommend it and would stay again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the cool decorative touches... the room we stayed in was named "Darwin" and decorated with an Australian theme. The "New York" dining had not only a mural on the terrace, but also memorabilia on the walls. Fun!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: location for Palais 12 was prime reason for booking. easy walk. Little nightlife nearby if that's what you are looking for
Cons: No in room coffee/tea facilities
9.5 Excellent
Pros: From the moment of arrival until checking-out, front-of-desk and staff were exceptionally courteous and helpful! It is ideally located for our purposes and a reasonable number of facilities nearby. Our room was clean and well looked after, as was the entrance and reception desk. Unfortunately, we did not partake in the breakfast and restaurant facilities, so cannot comment.
Cons: Everything was perfect! Nothing during this stay to complain about. I have booked again directly, as pricing is better along with the use of on-site parking for free, whereas with Booking.com bookings, parking is charged at €10/day.
9.5 Excellent
Cons: Nothing

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good; food is very fresh and the addition of scrambled eggs from their own hens is very appreciated. Bubbly is also available at breakfast - a nice touch. Location is nice and peaceful but it can only be enjoyed to the full if guests have their own transport..
Cons: Nothing really. Realistically the location requires the use of a car. However, once guests have transport, they can avail of a range of fine restaurants and wellness centers locally.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location and good size room. Breakfast was excellent.
Cons: No coffee in room.

Pros: Beautiful B&B, very tastefully decorated in a converted old mill farm. Large rooms, comfy beds and even though we arrived late, we were welcomed. Great breakfast to wake up to! Just a shame we couldn't stay longer.

Pros: Good location for centre though bit of a journey from Eurostar station via Metro. Rooms were comfortable and good blackout curtains. Shower in bathroom was great.

Pros: Excellent location Great friendly staff Particularly Anel was extremely courteous and helpful. He went out of his way to help. We forgot our belongings in the room safe and were able to get them through his help.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very spacious, with lots of natural light with a nice view over the city. The lobby and hallways have a great smell throughout. The bed was very comfortable, staff were friendly, room service was quite fast.
Cons: We didn’t have any bathrobes in our room but when we phoned to reception the quickly brought us some new ones to the room. We were also missing a hairdryer which was advertised on booking.com. All the soap dispensers were empty and not refilled when the rooms were cleaned. But these are things that are easily sorted and I am being picky, because we really enjoyed our stay here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the view was amazing love the window screens. Bed super comfortable and soft.
Cons: only thing missing was the handsoap bottle that was empty. The rest was perfect!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: I liked the location, facilities, staff, and cleanness. They also gave us our room earlier than the check in time because we arrived earlier.
Cons: The pillows were a bit difficult to sleep on.
4.3 Okay
Cons: Hello, My name is Abrar Khan and I have stayed at this hotel from 2nd to 4th August for a price of 249 Euros as it is quoted on the final receipt I got while checking out. I have paid the entire amount upfront and was charged an additional 60 Euros as a deposit which I was told that will be refunded 2-3 days after checkout. Now when I check my account balance, forget that 60 Euros, I was charged an additional 260 Euros again for no reason. The source mentioned was that of "The Hotel Brussels". If that i the case I am going to need to have that refund right away or I will have to make police complaint against this. Being a reputed hotel this looks highly ugly on your side as this is a clear case of fraud which I will not hesitate to report if not being solved right away. I am waiting for a reply as soon as possible.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good location, good value, nice staff
Cons: There’s a smell in the corridor. The room is kind of old.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Beautiful room. Complimentary drinks
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Literally everything! Polite staff, efficient and professional service, amazing view, great location, clean rooms and bathrooms, well equipped with anything a guest would require (even more that that), excellent decoration, we loved the way that everything was remote controlled (lights, window shades, tv), mini bar ecc. A great experience! we will definitely go back, big time!!!
Cons: Maybe, just maybe, corridors a little too dark.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Modern and clean
Cons: Not much
10.0 Excellent
Pros: One seriously won’t be able to find a better hotel for a holiday that tops The Hotel. Utterly amazing!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location, cleanliness, comfort. Was great.
Cons: Breakfast was limited value for money. Omelets at extra price for a 27€ breakfast (reduced to 20€) was a bit surprising. But the only low of the stay.
6.5 Good
Pros: The bed was comfortable, the temperature in the room is easily regulated, the room is well sound-proofed, so it is quiet at night. We had a corner room and the view is really nice. The light controls and the curtain controls are automated and can be manipulated with a push of a button. The location is great for shopping, walking to local attractions, and as a starting point to almost anywhere. I might or might not stay again - the negatives are not terrible, in the grand scheme of things.
Cons: The shower enclosure is not well designed and the water constantly goes over the lip of a very shallow shower pan - even if you try to stand up against the wall, only shower with the handheld shower, etc. So we couldn't enjoy the rainfall shower head which was huge and lovely because then you essentially have a lake in your bathroom. For the most part we had a soggy towel on the floor near the shower at all hours. Also the toilet is separated from the rest of the room with just glass so privacy or soundproofing there does not exist, and given that it is a European -sized room, if one of you is up to use the bathroom at night, it is impossible for the other to stay asleep as it is an echo chamber. The breakfast is severely overpriced for the options available and/or service provided - at least one of them needs to improve. Even though we travel a lot, still for a tourist from the US it is quite surprising - for 28 Euro per person I would want something more lavish in terms of food variety or much better service - waiters pouring your coffee or tea instead of you wresting with the automatic machines - something.

Pros: Just a bit of a walk too the town
Cons: Not much food options
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Best practice - they don‘t clean you room every day if you don’t wish. They give you a 5 Euro voucher. I‘ve always been asking myself why Hotels clean every day. So, brilliant idea guys! Thumbs up.
Cons: It it is that hot, please, offer thinner blankets!
6.3 Good
Pros: Big room, comfy bed
Cons: Room wasn't cleaned properly and the breakfast was completely overcharged for what you got
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Stylish, hip hotel aiming on the young and beautiful in Brussels European quarter. Comfortable stylish room with great bed and a very good shower. Very quiet too. We took the green option: not cleaning our room for one night in return for a 5€ voucher to spend on food and drinks. Nice bar with pool table. All in all a good price.
Cons: Breakfast quite simple. For 14.50 euros you can find better.
7.0 Good
Pros: The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were great! The staff was friendly.
Cons: The hotel is missing a style. Sure it’s modern but the rest it’s kind of basic. The corridors are very dark and not inviting, the room was big, but very empty. It needs more character.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and quiet, even when the lobby turns into a nightclub. We had a comfortable king size bed and a mini fridge, which was able to be guaranteed. We also loved the shower. The grab and go downstairs was very helpful. Would stay here again.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice look and feel. Convenient to airport and to my Brussels office without being in a heavy traffic area.
Cons: Only option offered for dinner was 40 euro buffet which was not great apart from the Teppanyaki. The food was not kept sufficiently hot either. Breakfast was better thankfully although still not particularly hot
5.8 Okay
Pros: location is good, quiet and easy access to centre and highway. The swimming pool is nice and so is the gym.
Cons: 1.forgot to put the baby cot inside the room despite requested it and received email confirmation two days prior to check-in, yet still forgot to put the cot in the room. 2. food was very average. Charged 40 euros per person for the dinner buffet which the choices were very limited, food was way too salty and not worth the money. 3. room was not too clean, can find dust all over the cupboard and wardrobes.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: My wife and I met the owner Ilse and she was very friendly and helpful. The service was excellent. Our room was super clean and modern. Everything worked perfectly. Our windows gave a wonderful view of the woods, with birds chirping. The place is located in the suburbs of a small town, which makes it very peaceful and quiet. There is a goat farm next door and the goats will come running towards you every time they see you. Restaurants and supermarket are about 15-20 minutes' leisurely walk. Kasteel van Bij Gaarden which hosts the Floralia Brussels for a month from 6 April to 5 May 2019, is about 30 minutes' stroll from Zen Your Life.
Cons: There was nothing that my wife and I didn't like.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Exceptional location. I loved the quiet.
Cons: Room should have a microwave oven.

Pros: Nice little find in a suburb of Brussels. I was in area for business and was much better than the standard fare. Very quiet and well designed room. Huge bathroom and shower. And if you are looking, you can arrange a massage in the wellness area.
Cons: Breakfast could be better, as they arrange it the night before. The staff only show up to run the wellness center, so you might be there by yourself, like I was. Not a problem for a seasoned traveller but may be unsettling for some.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: nicely designed rooms, comfortable beds, awesome shower
Cons: walls a bit thin

Pros: Nadia was super friendly upon arrival. Very easy to get to by train, €3.30 from Bruxelles-Midi and then a short walk (10 min). Spotlessly clean and very tranquil. Excellent Osteria close by for dinner within walking distance.
Cons: The other guests were very noisy (TV blaring at 1AM with the room door open) but that could happen anywhere.
