Everything about our stay at the Somerville Hotel was very nice and we thoroughly recommend the hotel.
A warm welcome....and comfort in all areas of the hotel. A great location and would certainly return.
The total efficiency of the staff
The Hotel is stunning, and has views across the bay, the food was first class and silver service to match, but be aware that there is a steep hill up to the hotel from the harbour and limited parking available in the town, the hotel does have ample parking and on a wet day the staff even appeared in the car-park with umbrellas, I would strongly recommend this hotel.
excellent location, very friendly and helpful staff and very good menu.
Service was generally good Breakfast service was erratic, depending on where we sat. Some tables seem to fall in 'no-man's land' between teams of waiters. Breakfasts get left under the warming lamps, rather than delivered to the table.
The views from the hotel are spectacular and close to restaurants
The dinners were excellent, the staff very helpful and the sitting rooms welcoming. However, the above reference to offensive language is itself, offensive. The absence of a service charge - I find the request for gratuities rather embarrassing.
Staff were wonderful. Food was also very good. Lovely stay.
The hotel was perfectly situated to explore the island and the staff were very helpful in making sure what they could offer was their best. My room was situated at the back of the hotel which was noisey and could be a negative to other guests
the fact you were made to feel so elcome and nothing was too much trouble but with out being hassled.
Very good hotel, service and staff great and in a good location.
The spa was wonderful. The manager has a somewhat snotty attitude when checking out. I was asked twice if I had taken anything from the fridge.
the staff was extremely friendly and the rooms clean and comfortable booking a spa hotel i expect to be able to use the spa, but this is only open to guests 8-10am during breakfast and 6-8pm when you would like to get ready to eat. unless you book a treatment then you can use through the day. could not eat in the hotel at all restaurants was either closed or booked , but no advice on booking the hotel to make sure this is booked prior to arrivals
All staff on reception were more than helpfull didn't like the view out of our window
The Food, The Honesty Bar the Staff..all good
Attention to customer needs
Our room was clean and well equipped and inviting to return to after a busy day. The situation of the hotel was perfect for our requirements ie closeness to shops yet very peaceful in rooms. Staff very helpful and obliging. Didn't like restricted times for using pool, not that we used it but we might have done if we could have used it at any time - if we had booked a spa treatment, we could have used it any time on that day.
There was a very friendly and tranquil atmosphere. Most relaxing
freebies + use of spa, excellent hotel facilities everything was great
Excellent food, friendly efficient staff, very clean rooms Nothing comes to mind
Excellent room with good facilities Friendly reception staff
Lovely hotel, friendly and very helpful staff, free lift to and from the airport Low pressure on shower
Welcoming and friendly staff throughout, dealt with problems speedily. Good swimingpool and attractive building. Unfortunately, the heating of the swiming pool was switched off half way through our stay - ie before end of September. Shower in the bathroom was poor - several outlets seemed blocked. Also shower gels not replaced when empty - had to request replacements. Only 4 TV channels and no radio in room.
The room was lovely, the hotel staff were polite and welcoming, and breakfast was very delicious. Everything was just excellent!
Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts very very nice. Location perfect. Wireless connection very good. All very welcoming Room 35 - bed nearest window very soft - too soft, needs replacing. Towel rail heater not working, otherwise room fine.
Quiet relaxed atmosphere Some areas of the hotel are in need of updating
Nice and quiet, nice staff, super location. It's a pity about the TV reception though None
Very helpful staff...very comfortable and relaxing atmosphere
Over priced for the quality of hotel.
The comfort of the room and high quality of food presented at breakfast and evening buffets
Very pleasant and efficient staff, on arrival, excellent room very clean and spacious, food was excellent again served by pleasant and efficent staff. Kept awake most of the night by party goers outside, two sets of double glazing did nothing the dull the noise and we were on the fifth floor.
Location of hotel is good. Choice of restaurants and food.
It was a one night stay for business. Ideal. The car alarm that went of at 0300 and kept going off!!
Staff everywhere in the hotel were better than first class. Reception was fast and helpful when needed. Patrick in the bar was low key but effective, efficient, with a great timing for the next round. Finally, serving staff for breakfast could not have been better. Narrow bath and a light-weight shower curtain means that anyone taking a shower finds themselves trying to hold the shower curtain at a distance and work the shampoo with one hand. Rust points at the top of the bath safety bar made it look fragile. Room 305 is rather tiny to be classed as "Executive". In Europe it would be an ordinary room at around 90 Euros per night (but without the Pomme d'Or top-class breakfast).
Very helpful staff and the location was excellent small room and bathroom
It has a great sense of history, individual style, attention to detail, and the guests comfort comes first.
Just what i have said here. Clean, high quality and very friendly. Our company uses it all the time and I can see why.
The common areas, cuisine and location. The shower was inadequate, the bath took ages to fill and there was no mirror suitable for short-sighted people.
Very friendly staff. Good customer service. High standard accomodation.
the spa and pool facilities. the quality of the buffet
Friendly TV Reception
A building of character well maintained Not the comfiest bed
breakfast was brill and the reception staff were very helpful trying to get me to were i wanted I thought the food at night time was a bit exspensive
my wife and i enjoyed are stay at the hotel, very nice clean comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful. i read a couple of reviews about the hotel before booking and they seemed a bit disappointed with the hotel but personally we did enjoy are stay and would definitely come back.
Friendly, helpful staff and good, comfortable facilities. I would have liked an easy chair / setee in my room.
very friendly staff, they made me feel very welcome. I had a single room and i have never had such a small room for the money. i plan to look at alternative hotels for my next visit.
The spa Restaurants rather expensive
The staff were excellent as was the food. Great value for money.
Service and cuisine was first class. N/A
the breakfast was very nice the fact you could not smoke in your room
The staff very friendly helpfull handy for town also easy parking
We enjoyed the food and the service excelent. The hotel needed an update in the decorating.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good. We only had one evening meal but that was also very good. Or first room was next to pool on the ground floor. This was very handy however the room was too warm especially at night (we think it was above the laundry room). When we mentioned this we were moved to another room on the first floor without any fuss. We were asked to pack personal items and the hotel staff would took care of moving everything for us. The hotel was a good 15 minutes walk to the town centre.
The leisure facility. The breakfast service. The location. Bed cover sheet appeared unhygenic. No air con in rooms.
The ropoms were very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The staff were fantastic all prepared to put themselves out, always smiling and helpful. The only complaint wewas the beds, a bit lumpy and could feel the springs!
Staff attitude Too far from town
Nice friendly staff, unpretentious surroundings, The fried eggs at breakfast were over cooked!
Good location, very helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble ,good food, well run, and very clean.
Great views , good value for money. Bed & Pillows were hard . Hearing the other guests moving about , need insulation on floors and walls.
Location of hotel, service Would have liked specifically to book a balcony room. Option not available on booking, could only make a request.
Nice and friendly stuff. No on-site car parking. No internet access.
The friendliness and service from the Staff I thought was exceptional and it was all done with a smile, and the food was excellent value and a good choice. I thought that the furniture in the Lounge area's was very dated and some of the chairs were very rickety
Being able to witness the change in tides from our room's window. The dinner food (the two nights we ate there) was excellent. The seving staff were excellent Unavailability of car parking
calm relaxed friendly staff. the front desk was always staffed. good food wonderful location the mattress in our room could do with replacing could feel the springs
Made to feel welcome by the staff and a good restaurant top notch breakfasts.
The room was spotlessly clean and a good size. Everything in the room worked well. The breakfast is superb in a restaurant overlooking the sea. The lack of car park, however there were accessible car parks nearby so not really a problem.
The informality. Service and friendliness of staff were excellent. Breakfasts were consistently gorgeous. A very minor point, we had a bredroom on the terrace, the room could perhaps be refurbished to a point - patio door was illfitting and the top window had a large crack (no problem but a little unsightly).
convenient for town centre and restaurants.
good location for shopping harbour and bars ect very noisy at night, sleep disturbed nightly by noisy revellers and cars with boy racer exhausts
first rate staff in every dept.could not be more helpful.food, beer excellent access to room 234.made asuperb break very difficult
The restaurant was excellent! The beds were extremely hard!
The bedroom was well equiped, clean and comfortable. The breakfast selection was good and available over a large time span. The car park was not able to cater for all the guests that may have had a car.
Excellent Breakfast, Very Friendly,Good Location, secure parking, Great Bar Staff Would have liked some entertainment in the evening - would like a safe in the room - rooms were very hot and no windows to open.
Easy access to town center
The room we had was excellent and very clean, the bar food was very good My only negative comment would be the queue waiting to be seated at breakfast, once in the brakfast was very good
Hotel location was excellent-5 minute walk to town. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms are small but clean. Hotel is a bit dated and could do with a face lift. NO air conditioning in the room-in summer it gets v hot and rooms unbearable at night.
Clean rooms, most of staff very friendly quite a few good restaraunts on the same road. Bar closed at midnight, no safe or mini bar in room as advertised by yourselves. Breakfast not organised well waited 15 mins to be seated one morning.
All staff were very helpful during our stay and very accommodating. The food was very good. Room very comfortable with very good facilities. Not having a sea view!
I enjoyed using the spa facilities, and the food was excellent.
The hoel staff were extremely friendly and always willing to help - they appeared to really enjoy their emplyment. Everything was fine - one of the best htoel stays I've had for a long while
Good central location in st.Hellier Modernisation has not yet been completed
good parking, friendly staff,
The sea view room was well worth the extra money. Good food and attentive service. The loud music in the bar where we were going to eat but decided against this. And went out instead.
Good central position, even with alterations taking place the hotel did very well to not let this effect our experience and enjoyment. i felt the staff serving on the were not aware of who was being attended to, a lot of people were trrying to get their attention , myself having to wait over 10minutes to place food orders and drinks.
The staff at the Grand Jersey were exceptional. Throughout our stay I can say we did not have one complaint during our week. Everything was perfect from the moment we arrived until the time that we left. The food was lovely, breakfast service was wonderful and room service was a real treat! The Spa was fully booked quite often and it was very difficult to book treatments, however this is merely because the Spa is very good and it only reminded us to book in advance next time!
The leisure facilities
The bathroom was stunning.
The politeness of all the staff members.
Excellent service wonderful swimming pool and great tennis court.
Rooms tidy well appointed and clean
Toured the island of Jersey.
Spacious rooms, gourmet food, gardens, pool and unobtrusive staff
The service. The staff was realy willing to help They should be able to speak more fluent english
- Quality to bedroom and bathroom - Little things like our name on the brochure when we arrived, the bottles of champagne and water waiting for us, the attention to details! One of the best experience I had in a hotel of this category. The battery of the remote control was dead.
The staff made you feel very welcome and catered for all your needs. The food was excellent even for vegetarians! Our Dogs were treated as guests which is a nice change!
Staff were fantastic - courteous and nothing was too much trouble. Even got a room upgrade without asking! Room was fantastic - didn't want to leave it!!! Food was great too. Shame I was there for business but would definitely recommend to anybody who'd like a romantic/relaxing getaway! Will definitely return!!! Cost if you book directly seemed much higher than booking via this website.
The food and service was exceptional. very relaxing and restfull Would have liked coffee and tea making in rooms did not have a shower only a bath
Friendly staff and good quality food. Fussy wine service - didn't leave bottle so you could serve yourself but then failed to top up glasses.
Very comfortable hotel, well situated. We had awful wine with our gourmet meal - screwtop so not corked, but virtually undrinkable - shouldn't happen in a reputable hotel (or at their prices).
Very good staff, very good food, very great stay The taps wasn't mixed taps and it was difficult to find water neither burning nor frozen
great service, nothing too much trouble its perfect
beautiful old house in quiet fishing village no
Nothing was to much trouble for any of the staff - they were excellent. It is a lovely old Victorian house with excellent rooms but not much of a view (apart from beautiful trees) as it is in a rift valley. But it has peace and quiet in abundance, and this is what we went for. It is also well situated to get to any part of the island but you do need a car. Because it is a Victorian house, the rooms and bathrooms are a good size but there are lots of stairs (26 from the car park up to the hotel and 21 from reception to our room). I found it very difficult at times because I have limited mobility. There is no lift to help move luggage or to help with stairs. Also, the shower in our bathroom had a fixed screen which, with artificial knees and hips and therefore difficulty in bending them beyond 90 degrees, caused me a problem. There was little room to get in and out of the bath to shower. We had a lovely time but I would have enjoyed feeling a little cleaner!!
Friendly, very comfortable, excellent food and service.
We like the quiet and secluded location of the hotel close to the bay at St Rozel. The hotel is clean and comfortable with excellent rooms; the bathrooms are well supplied as are tea and coffee making facilities along with a supply of fresh fruit. The staff are polite and attentive and clearly know exactly how to look after their guests. This is our second visit and won't be the last Er, none that I can think of apart from the rate at which we put on weight as a result of the excellent food available.
friendly staff lovely setting lack of lift
the building was beautiful. The staff were very helpful and charming. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was excellent Our room. We unfortunately were given room number 7, which was dark as it overlooked a cliff face at the back of the hotel. I feel we should have been made aware of this as I would have then changed our holiday dates. The room should have carried a greater discount as it was quite depressing.
evening meals well worth staying in for, enjoyed relaxed atmosphere.location -plentiful coastal paths walks, coastline spectacular.
Ida went out of her way to make us welcome and to explain the food arrangements. We are both Vegetarian and were looked after very well. Car parking was tight the whole week, and was situated on a very tight bend. The road to and from the hotel was steep and full of bends. There were no signposts that we saw leading down to the hotel.
Everyone at guest house friendly and very helpful. Loved the location and felt very welcomed and relaxed. Ida and Richard run a great value for money cosy and welcoming place. Would definitiely recommend to others. The place was so clean, the food was good, Richard is a great cook, you should try an evening meal, great value for money and delicious! The situation is beautiful, fantastic cliff walks and a wonderful pebbled beach. You should mention on booking if not so able as the stairs are a little steep. There was ample parking across from guest house. They went out of their way to give us a great holiday. Thanks! Not much to dislike! The guest house is on a hill so again if you are not so able it could be difficult. My mum couldn't manage the hill so I just dropped her off in the car at the bottom and then parked the car at the top again and the same to collect her, it's only a few minutes walk to the car park so not really a problem! I would advise car hire if at Bouley Bay or for anywhere in Jersey to get the best of the island. Over all, we loved the place!
the weather was fantastic the undercliffe also fantastic could not stay long enough
The peace and tranquillity of its environment. The private and independent access to the room without having to go through reception The £15 charge for paying with a credit card
Lovely location. Guest house has character. Rooms were quite spacious with en-suit shower, toilet etc. Breakfast was good. Couple who run this guest house were freindly and hospitable. Breakfast is served at 9am, which is quite late if guests are keen to go out and about early. We did arrange to have an earlier breakfast on the days that we needed to be at a convention in St Helier at around 9am, but sensed that this was an inconvenience.
The friendly and efficient staff - genuinely interested in where we were coming from and what we wanted to do in the area. Delicious and well presented breakfast. Good location for goingn on walks, and enjoying the quieter side of the island.
It is a family-owned guesthouse where we were met with a very kind reception. We had a nice room with a beautiful view. The location at Boulay Bay is great. You can start walking the cliff path or relax at the beach. Nice pub nearby as well. we liked the personal atmosphere. Thanks for the nice stay. The breakfast time is late. But not really a problem. Just tell the people know and you get it earlier.
Very Friendly Owners. Beautiful Location. Very Pretty Rooms and guest house. We had a sea view from our bedroom. Pretty dining room and good selection for a continental breakfast, at a very respectable 9am (or earlier if you wish). Very Clean throughout. There is parking available opposite the guest house. There is a swimming pool which would be lovely in summer. No sink in toilet/shower ensuite, therefore you had to wash your hands after visiting the toilet by using the sink in the bedroom. Unfortunately they had trouble with the ultra violet water filtration system when we were there so we couldn't drink the water from the taps. However they did leave us bottled water each day to make a drink.
Friendliness of staff. Quick breakfast service Hairdryer kept cutting out.
Pleasant place, comfortable beds The walls were a bit thin, as I could hear the couple in the room next door...
The rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff at the reception were very helpful. The shower in the bathroom was appalling and staff at the breakfast could not speak English so some orders were wrong, otherwise very nice.
This is the best hotel we have stayed in for along time, very clean, rooms have every thing you want, management & staff very helpfull, will be comeing back in june for alonger break. Thank you all for a very enjoyable stay.
Very friendly hotel, rooms cleaned daily, we had a premier room which was worth the little extra. None
Helpful Staff. No airconditioning in the room and our bathroom was no more that a small oblong with toilet at one end and shower at the other. The sink was in the main bedroom/
Friendliness and help given by all members of staff. Food quality was very good and portions very good. Very relaxing hotel.
The hotel was clean and welcoming, and after a busy day very comfoting. A very good base. The only thing that could have been improved for me, As i dont walk to well it would have been wonderful if there had been a bus service. Not every one would agree, but one nearby would have helped me.
Friendly staff Evening meals not a very high standard
hotel staff frienndly very helpful, room had mildew above the bed and in the bathroom, had a main meal on the sunday very poor, expensive
Accessability. helpfulness of reception staff and porters. Cheerfulness of restaurant staff especially when under pressure. Accommodation charges particularly those applying to premier rooms are on the high side.
Staff was excellent at all levels. Noise from karioke pub in square for room with harbour view.
THe staff wre extremely welcoming, hotel had a real presence about it with a great selection of bars and restaurants
Staff extremely accomodating. Room very comforterable. Location excellent. Food and dining and facilitiites good. Quick response to any of our needs.
the staff are all very friendly not baby friendly
very comfortable bed and good breakfast close to opera house for concert.
Staff approach to customers fantastic, customer service very high nothing too much bother. Its nice to see staff smile.
food was very good need much better coffee in the rooms, forget fair trade try quality
The staff were exceptional. Friendly, Helpful, always at hand to help with any ideas of how best to enjoy your stay. In comparision to other establistments in the imediate area the menu in the Zephur bar was not great and not good value, which put us off eating in any of the other bar/resturaunt in the hotel.
The friendly relaxed atmosphere, good food and clean comfortable room The Resturant closed a little early and there could have been water supplied in the room.
Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were always very helpful.
having drinks on the terrace overlooking the bay, beautiful views' using the pool and having lunch in the bra did not see a lift
friedliness of staff no lift
views of the bay turning into the hotel drive from the main road
Great location overlooking the beach and view from the dining room was stunning. All staff courteous and helpful and restaurant food very good indeed with a lot of choice.
Lovely location with fantastic views over the bay both from the dining room and sea view rooms 10.5 tog duvet on the bed in August! Had to wait an hour at reception for our room to be ready and when we asked again the room seemed to have been ready for a while but the reception failed to tell us
The views from our balcony room were overlooking the sea, the hotel was in a quite location which we found very relaxing. Our room was clean and the beds very comfortable, although the pillows were lumpy, I was glad I took my own! The food served was delicious and varied daily, breakfast was extensive and good....... try the Warm Chocolate Fondant from the A la carte menue...mmmm lovely.
the views across the bay, from the restaurant, were wonderful and the food very good. inland views not good.
The views from the room and the balcony Just asked the night receptionist a couple of questions which she didn't answer or follow-up
The convenience of being near to St Helier and also a good setting off point to other parts of the island.
Staff were excellent - nothing was too much trouble
Well run hotel that enabled us to have a relaxed break in Jersey
kindness and helpfulness of staff
Lovely hotel, pleasant staff, excellent rooms, food superb in the Montana Restaurant, nice cosy lounge and bar
The bar area and breakfast were very good with the staff very helpful and the bonus of friday jazz night. The noise from the saturday night party [wedding] in our room was very annoying.
Staff were helpful, but communication could be difficult as English was not their first language.
Friendliness of staff
very easy & central for exploring island. room we had was very cold in the evening, heating in room failed.
The breakfast was very good. The Hotel room was very very tired and old.
friendly staff very basic furnishing. Evening meals too early more functional than relaxed.
View is terrific
close to the beach, bar/lounge comfortable, very friendly staff CAR PARKING was frustrating.
Everything, the spacious room and bathroom, the pleasantness and smartness of all of the staff. Not applicable.
very frendly staff/sea view/good breakfasts. the bedroom,tv and bathroom could do with a bit of refurbishment.
A nice welcome, comfortable bed and good sea view. The decor and furnishing were very tired and dated.
The position of the guesthouse in relation to the town of St Aubin..only 5 mins walk.
staff were very friendly, and the rooms were clean - excellent breakfast too! some aspects of the hotel were a little tired and would benefit from modernisation/refurbishment
Breakfast was good with very friendly service. Bedding poor quality and uncomfortable.
Great location and beautiful view of the bay - Andy and staff were very friendly and helpful. uncomfortable pillows
Beware of very hot breakfast plates. Was ok for a few days, the light over the mirror was broken & it seems it had been for a while, but wasn't sorted out
friendly staff, only a short walk to town center and harbour, beautiful view of the bay - but in front of the sea-view family rooms is a big stair tower. Very small breakfast room when the house is fully booked. Poor smelling towels! Basic family room and bathroom, but OK.
the welcome we recieved was great , the food was fantastic, and the room was spacious and comfortable nothing to complain about
Poor quality/state of towels
friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast, basic room but suitable for family
Lovely room, great ocean view, freindly staff at spa, good bar area, Very average breakfast, staff on reception and in dining room not very freindly or helpful, waiting room for spa area felt like a dentist's surgery, treatment rooms very claustrophobic
The view of the harbour was excellent both from our room and the bar area. The scrambled egg on the breakfast buffet looked as if it was composed of chopped up boiled eggs from the previous day.
Excellent food, well served. The heating/air conditioning system, which was difficult to control, leading to disturbed sleep.
The location was perfect, the cleaniless was excellent. The breakfast was first class with plenty of choice. My partner and I would gladly visit again. We liked it all!!
Nice quiet and relaxing hotel where you could chillout
all the staff were polite and nothing was too much trouble. the food was excellent. the standard room we had was 1st class. well done it would have been nice to have had a nice draft hand pull beer as an option in the bar.
I liked the location (being close to both the harbour, st. helier and the bus station). I wouldn't really recommend it for a long stay with children, as the pool was quite small and not really aimed at children. The Merton Hotel is where we usually stay (when travelling with the children) and that is fantastic for them. However, for adults only the Radisson and The Royal Yacht are both fantastic for a stay in Jersey. The rooms are excellent and beds very comfortable, staff very friendly and helpful too. The mini bar only had two bottles of water in it. That's about it really!
Staff extremely helful Didn't like having to wait to be seated for breakfast, especially out of season
The hotel is located in an excellent central position with very helpful and friendly staff. The city certre is a walk away as is the ferry port. We had a wonderful stay.
The view overlooking the harbour and the buffet breakfast. The sauna and steam room were an added welcome after a days' walking The smell of fish in the evening as you enter the lobby. This was every evening and not very pleasant
