Water sports staff was not very helpful and we missed out on activities due to this.
The pool and drinks are good. The beach is nice but not close to as nice as other beaches nearby. Most of the food is buffet only and extremely greasy. Even the non-buffet food is pre-prepared and not very good. They will not accommodate vegetarians. The beach is extremely rocky. Water activities are outsourced to another company, and doing anything requires reservations in advance and a walk away from the beach. Overall this is not a good value or experience as compared to staying in a non-all-inclusive somewhere else in Costa Rica with a better beach and eating out.
We liked Riu, the staff was great and the facilities were good We were however, disappointed in the quality of the food and the evening shows were second rate
Breakfast and Lunch buffet offers a great variety and quality is good. A la carte restaurant was nice and service was good. Beautiful and well kept gardens. You have to book 24 hours in advanced for the special restaurants and for water activities (like using a kayak!) which is closed by 3pm. The pool area is loud and not very clean as MANY people seems to spend the whole time at the pool bar. Shows and night activities are poor.
We've stayed at BDS many times while building our house nearby. The hotel is great. The rooms are spacious, the grounds are welcoming and tropical, the restaurant is great and most of all the staff is friendly and so helpful. My personal favorites are traditional Costa Rican breakfast and watching the sunset from the beach while sipping a cocktail. Make BDS a stop on your CR travel plans.
Nice quiet condo-Resort with own private black-sand beach. Never saw more than 3 other people on beach the entire stay. Nice snorkeling right on beach. Go to the left near rocks for best views. If you rent a car, the condos up top have wonderful views. If walking, stay in condos closer to beach. Great security, night and day! Nice restaurant near lower pool and beach. Upper and lowers condos have different pools. Stayed in upper section right next to infinity pool. Hardly anyone using it so seemed like our private pool. Three bedroom condos are wonderful and clean. in reception, made our vacation!! He arranged snorkeling trip, canopy tours, rafting, horseback riding, river cruise and Monteverde guide/tour. He took care of everything and arranges a driver if you don't want to tackle the roads. Just give him a day notice and he will set your activities up. We travel a lot and have never seen anyone take care of a visitor like !! Coco is about 10 minutes away and has a lot of shops and a great supermarket (Super Mercado) with coffee shop across the street. Go another 6 miles to Hermosa and have dinner at Gingers, a great Tapas resturant. Take a day trip down coast to Flamingo Beach, Tamirindo Beach and on to National Park Beach. On way back, have dinner at one of many good resturants in Tamirindo. Food prices are moderate everywhere. Don't forget about the 23% tax/gratuity you'll pay for everything in Costa Rica. Tipping isn't expected but is appreciated, especially guides, boat Captains, etc. Be careful on roads, especially at night. Potholes are numerous on back roads and folks walk in roads at all hours. Beautiful country and people. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Can two adults and three teenagers enjoy themselves on a vacation? Well, we did and it did not take too much effort. The Bahia Pez Villas in Liberia Costa Rica is situated in the mountains of Guanacaste. The views from our room were breathtaking. The villa was spacious and clean. The people were friendly and hospitable. We went on several trips...a day trip to Nicaragua, the hot springs, Palo Verde and the volcano and rainforest by Lake Adenal as well as snorkeling. The trips were a bit costly but they were worth it. Costa Rica is a paradise and we plan to return at another time.
We stayed at the Four Seasons December 1-6, 2010. It was an absolutely wonderful vacation. My wife tells me that she likes staying at the Four Seasons because the staff always make her feal like the most important person in the world. The Four Seasons in Costa Rica did that and more. This is a beautiful facility. The quality of service and the staff would be hard to beat. The activities were a great thrill. The food was memorable. It was all very good. I wish that I had the writing ability to tell you just how wonderful this resort is. We want to go back. It was that good. The location is perfect, but what makes this resort so special is the staff. There is a quality of serivce here that would be hard to duplicate. We strongly recommend Four Seasons Costa Rica. The only thing I can say is Wow!!! This is even more than we imagined when we planned our trip. It was worth every penny.
Amazing, Amazing. We had their ''standard'' deluxe room. We could not have asked for a better place to spend the last couple days of our vacation . Spectaular. Food is fantastic. The SPA.... OMG. If you can do it, go and stay at this resort. Even if it's for 2 nights, it will be worth it.
As I arrived at this hotel, my entire soul started to relax. The staff are amazing. Every detail is attended to. The staff actually take the time to learn what you want, and they cater to those needs. This is not a place for people who want constant nightlife and action. But it is a wonderful place for relaxtion, and families. There are numerous activities such as kayaking, cooking classes, and the spa! Two beaches add to the experience. One is a quiet beach that is perfect for older adults looking to get away from the noise of small children. The restaurants are fabulous with delicious fresh fish and other assorted dishes. The rooms are spacious with big comfortable beds, large soaking tubs, balconies with screens, and the sounds of the ocean. I can't wait to return.
A fantastic place to stay. The staff is very friendly and are extremely professional. The rooms are beautiful as well and the beds are some of the most comfortable I've ever slept in . We only had a couple issues with room service while we were there. . My only disappointment was with their signature steakhouse restaurant at the golf course. The steak I ordered was seasoned heavily nearly to the point that I could not eat it. It was also very tough for a $* ribeye. In addition, we had asked for water to drink and made the mistake of not clarifying which type of water and were charged heavily for bottled water that we had not asked for. Our mistake though. The room service menu was excellent and I would highly recommend the food in any of the other restaurants . The beaches are fantastic and some of the activities available (free of charge) at the resort are fascinating and very fun. This location is remote and beautiful. The only drawback is that if you want to sample to 'local' lifestyle and go into the closest town of Liberia, it is a long expensive cab ride into town. If you like seclusion, it is the place for you. My wife and I are looking forward to hopefully returning to this resort one day.
You will love this place!!! They will make you feel so welcome and special. We stayed in a suite away from the main part of the hotel. They have golf carts to take you to and from the main areas. The walk to the main part isn't bad as it is downhill and just takes a few minutes, the walk back...not so much! One of the golf cart drivers took me around on his cart to look for monkeys, he was so nice. They are everywhere, but you have to know where to look for them. The food is really good, the spa is beautiful and the grounds are so lush and tropical. There is free WiFi in the outdoor lobby area, it is like $40 (maybe?) for 3 days in the rooms. We loved the adult-only pool, we were there in Feb. 2011, so there were not many kids, but I bet it is different in the summer.
This is a great hotel. Perfect if you want to relax. Hotel is in a remote area, minimum 45 minute drive to get to ANY city/town including the Liberia Airport. If you are looking for a party atmosphere this is not the place. Service is fantastic!
The public areas of this all-inclusive hotel are lovely, however the individual rooms could be in any hotel anywhere in a major city - decor lacks any hint of where you are & the bathrooms definitely need updating - the public areas are poolside with views of the ocean and the expected oceanside open-air dining areas and bars are picturesque. Food was good (nothing outstanding) best dinner and lunches (if you don't want bar food etc# were at the Italian restaurant by the spa pool - which is a lovely quiet #no kids/loud music allowed# pool spot if that's what you prefer. My opinion? If you're going to Costa Rica and only stay here #& maybe just do the long daytrip to the volcano/rainforest# you're missing out on the real beautiful scenic Costa Rica - it could be any all-inclusive anywhere in the Caribbean/Central America - nice but ..... We spent the first half of our time @ the Arenal volcano #The Springs Resort# and then came here for some relaxing at the beach, which for us turned out to be a great plan. Along with other excursions at the rainforest we did the escorted SeaDoo tour offered at the hotel's beach - which was fun. FYI: we encountered insects #bites) at the beach not the rainforest !
