Breakfast Decor-stark and dull, orange and brown. Very shabby main areas, poor lighting and chair blocking emergency access.
Overall good. A personal observation that the room was dark partly due to decor which was very dark brown and orange and lighting choice of small spots.
Friendly Staff and a Clean Hotel Nothing to complain about
Well located, good breakfast and efficient staff. Our room was in need of refurbishment.
The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and clean.
The resturant is first classThe owner is a really nice guy Not enough pillows on the bed
The resturant It was buily in the early 70's and the room fittings and decor eflect that fact otherwise all ok
The hotel's bar/restaurant produced an appetising evening meal at reasonable cost. The hotel's general decor is dated, worn and "tired". As an overnight en-route stop it adequately fulfilled our needs but we would not recommend it for a longer stay.
We appreciated the help and friendliness given to us by the "patron"-- who was in situ at the reception and/or the restaurant. .He was always available to help us and we appreciated this and the local information he provided to us.---- with a smile!! I suggest the outside parking isgreatly expanded . The hairdrier broke .but was replaced immediaely by the patron. Also , e had a shower site in the bath which was always slippery and thus dangerous . Suggest they put in a rubber mat with sucker in the bath to stop the slipperiness and avoid an accident taking place.
The friendliness of the staff
It is wonderful , very paceful and picturesque place with a very good food.
Made very welcome by the Nathalie and Francois, the owners and shown to one of their outstanding rooms facing onto the canal and 'source'. The new hotel blends perfectly with the architecture of the original mill which is the restaurant and breakfast area. The food on Sunday evening was excellently prepared by Francois and extremely good value for money at 22 euro each as was breakfast the next morning. It is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed - it's spectacular at night as the mill and all the surrounding area is lit - shame it was poor weather as there were loungers everywhere to relax. We will certainly be going back if we are passing by that way again. We had difficulty finding the hotel as it was not signposted well. We were told there were 2 villages Gudmont & Villiers and the hotel is in Villiers over the bridge and down by the canal Marne, but it's definitely worth finding!
