The location was fantastic and the host and hostess could not have been more accommodating to our family of mom, dad, 5 kids (1,5,11,14,15) and grandmother Directions were a bit vague and the English translation not very clear. But it was well worth the difficulty. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
The location and facilities are very good. The staff is clearly top class Some rooms require a renovation...
right on the ski slopes, great room with communal roof terrace. ninteno wii in childrens playroom. room not ready at check in time, not until after 3pm. Menu not toddler/child friendly. children playroom contained 80% broken toys. very limited parking.
The room was excellent and the evening meal was very enjoyable. Late evening ordering drinks was painful...!
The restuarant was very poor for a 5 star hotel. We decided to eat out involving the hotel courtesy bus. This was driven back around small roads late at night by an absolute mad man!
Friendly & helpful staff. Very comfortable beds. Ski in - Ski out. Room air con could not be switched off making the rooms very dry and warm. Opening window/door was the only solution. Cold 'hot' breakfast buffet. Restaurant meal was not good value for money.
The restaurant staff were very attenative and very willing to help also good discription of the excellent meals served The bar was gloomy with poor tables and chairs
There was no wifi in the rooms and the breakfast was really poor and the hotel bar closed at midnight
I feel that you should not have to pay for parking and the hot breakfast needs to have more additions like beans and mushrooms
Very large room. Despite what is stated, there was no wifi in the room. Internet in the room was possible with a (very short) cable, but if you're unlucky, they are all gone (as I've experienced).
We ended up being charged more than what was quoted at the actual place. Plus, our elevator did not go to the floor. Rather we had to get off and climb stairs--my mother had a difficult time, given that she recently had surgery.
Quiet, clean and spacious room. Free internet access available throughout the hotel. The hotel didn't seem fully operational. It is located at Monachil and rather hard to find. Not recommended unless with own car or with tour group. Air cond. in our room didn't work during our stay. We suspect it was centrally controlled. Wireless internet is only available in the lounge area.
Very modern and spacious rooms. The whole hotel is lovely. The reception staff were very welcoming and helpful...Nothing was too much trouble for them and they were obviously genuine in their relationship with the hotel guests. Spa still not open but not too much of a problem. Smoking was allowed in the bar although it had a separate non smoking room adjacent. This prevented us from making full use of the bar.
Lovely hotel, new, clean and helpful staff. I took a bit to find but apart from that a good experience.
the service, rooms, and view were great-would stay again
It was a brand new hotel - the room was large & modern with all required comforts. The hotel was still under construction but this did not effect our stay in any way From the website we thought the hotel was in the Sierra Nevada when it was a 30 minute drive away
1st lady at desk excellent most staff unhelpfull - bathroom aqnd toilet no doors and glass see through walls!? - boked for 2 nights but left after 1 because genarally horrible hotel -
Excellent hotel with comfortable well appointed rooms. However, the hotel was newly opened and still not fully operational. Good location for Alhambra Palace and sking in the Sierra Nevada.
hotel staff was excellent, helpful and friendly. the location of the hotel is perfect for those who ski (but too many staircases to climb from the town center, where all the restaurants are). food very tasty. heating worked well. it's overpriced. very much in need for renovation. furniture in the room was old.
ski in ski out possibility rooms too small and 2 single beds instead of 1 double
Very helpful and friendly staff, excellent breakfast and dinner buffet. Good location close to lifts. Rooms and hotel have a musty smell. Hotel could do with some redecoration. Health club closed, only open at weekends. Some drinks over-priced.
food was excellent rooms were a bit on the small size
Close to pistes smelly toilets close to recption
Food location were OK. It was more like a hosetl than a 3 star hotel. The bath water came out brown and teh bedspread had holes in it.
Easy access to the slopes in Sierra Nevada. Helpfull and smiling staff. Great buffet.
Good friendly staff Mix up with booking regarding using my first name not surname
The staff was very personal, the breakfast was excellent with a gorgeous view over the mountains, the hotel was only 15 minutes away from Granada.
Lovely welcome, and helpful staff, beautiful hotel and surroundigs. Air-conditionning would be a plus in addition to the fan.
After staying in noisy cities, the peace and quiet here was wonderful. The rooms all have lovely views and ours was very comfortable. Patricia, the owner, cooked dinner every night - 4 courses of beautiful home cooked food- perfect The breakfast buffet was also the best we had experienced on this trip. the owners did everything they could to make our stay as pleasant as possible. A real gem.
The ambiance and the perfect welcome and tips made us feel welcome. Beautiful surroundings and quietness, lovely decorated room with the perfect toutch. To find the location was a little difficult, and the road was very narrow.
Very friendly staff, speaking English well. Good info about tours in the environment. Got a cd from the handyman. Really nice people. The location is also very nice. In the middle of the mountains. Once found, you will not fail a second time. But we overlooked the signs and went wrong. The rince in the bathroom was leaking water on the floor. breakfast time is starting from 9:00, pretty late, especially when you want to visit the Alhambra early.
beautifull surroundings garden and wiev, nice staff It would be nice if there was a la carte eating
almost everything evening meal restricted to 1menu @30euros. too expensive. The access road was dangerous at night, so few passing points.
Fantastic welcome from the owners and staff - absolutely lovely place to spend a few days!
We enjoyed the beautifull location. Very helpfull staff on specific needs.
Wanting a relaxing weekend with some nature thrown in we booked this hotel after reading all the good reviews. And we werent disappointed one bit. The location is great, only 10 minutes to the centre of Granada, 2 minutes to Monachil old town, and 20 minutes to the ski station. The hotel itself being an old cortijo is lovely, restored and furnished in a modern yet traditional way. The staff are lovely and very helpful. The food is great, although its a set menu the quality is fantastic and good value. All in all, we were very pleased. We cant wait to return ! Nothing.
Exceptionally friendly staff and with the Alhambra only a 5 mins drive away it's a perfect location.
the superb service and wonderful rooms!
quiet place, very nice decor, friendly and helpful staff room service did not change towels or dirty sheets
Romantic, typical ispanish, cozy, quiet hotel, beautihul panaroma, good cofee.
Location, between Granada and Sierra Nevada No dinner facilities, only breakfast
Value for money, the lift, individual control of room temperature
Free parking, nice swimming pool, nice balcony view.
A nice hotel tucked away in the foothills just outside Granada.
Wonderful location with great view over the mountains, very friendly and helpful staff, relaxed atmosphere, nice space to hang out in the area by the pool where you could bring your own drinks and nibbles.
the cosy but spacious big rooms, good views and excellent value for money.
Because of the blizzards, enjoyed the jacuzzi and sauna. Food was good but expensive. The weather made it almost impossible to ski, but the staff were fabulous and the hotel has a nice, homely atmosphere. I hadn't realized it was so far from the town, and activities.
Great staff and nice dinner, clearn bathroom. Bit expensive
The service provided by most of the staff. The hotel is also very pretty and it has a perfect location. The spa facility is a terrible deal. It is not only not included in the price of the room, but they also charge per use of each of the services there: 12 euro if you want to use the jacuzzi, another 12 euro if you want to use the sauna and so on.
the smell in the rooms, the restaurant was very very bad
although the snow conditions were not great we had a nice stay have stayed there before and the staff are a lot nicer now s snow report could have been in english as well
lhe location is excellent and the room was very spacious, breakfast was very very good with everything you need before a sports activity the room was burnning hot with no temprature in the room, the spa is expensive and therefor not really an option for a family experience
We liked the layout of the room. The kids liked the loft! There was an odd smell in our room.
Direct access to the slopes Absolutely.! The quality of the mattresses is unworthy for a mistakenly 4 star hotel. Comfort in bed is the most important factor after a hard day of sports. Mattresses are the same as 1 or 2 star Spanish hotels. Unacceptable!
the staff were excellent and the hotel had a great feel about it. I wo9uld expect an a la carte restaurant in a 4 star hotel.
difficult to get to local restaurants as nowhere to eat nearby apart from hotel. Very handy for ski slopes provided runs are open
Very nice and helpful staff Parking facilities
view, overall mountain chalet style restaurant is serving much too fast - we did not enjoy that
Nice room - Location noise was terrible - other guests made alot of noise around midnight and nothing was said . kids playing on stairs 10pm till 11pm, echoing throughout hotel. never slept fully for the 3 nights we were their. Although not the hotels fault my car was keyed in the car park.
It's a gem. Super friendly and helpful hosts (Enmma). Tastefully individually decorated room all with balcony. Very clean (and deep) pool, lots of shaded area for outdoor and very happening/relaxing out door porch bar area. You will be impressed how this little joint has everything! 3 coure meal at night at 15E with 3 choices of each course. Food (home cook) are at reasonable standard too.. highly recommend it if you want somewhere away from the fuzz and buzz of the city. Hot plate, such as eggs will be good if it's available on request.
Everything was perfect. Just what we asked for, nice, clean, quiet, breathtaking views, the nicest staff ever.
The rustic informality and the ability to just relax in the lounge area. The hotel and its staff made you feel you could relax. The rooms were very comfortable and the air-conditioning easy to work etc for warming or cooling the rooms. The hotel had a family atmosphere. The cuisine was local / traditional and very enjoyable. Considering other hotels around the cost was very competitive. Maybe an area for improvement would be the soap and shampoo facilities available, but nothing more.
Very pleasant and helpful hosts. Peaceful location with views over hills to the city. Access to the city was easy by car.
The staff were charming and v helpful. The vista was lovely. The menu de noche was extremely good value and with local recipes.Aspects of the hotel were delightful. Lack of plug in the basin. The shower was badly fixed and adjusted so that we had to hand hold the fitting. After a day skiing, it would have been nice to have had a bath!
Friendly, welcoming owners and dogs! Quiet, countryside location convenient for both Granada and Sierra Nevada. Lovely view of sunsets over Granada from bedroom balcony. Buffet breakfasts are good and three course evening meals are excellent value. The Finca has a rustic, Moorish charm. Difficult to find if relying on GPS/SatNav - use Finca Aldabra's directions!
The owners have spent a great deal of time and effort to produce one of the very few hotels that not only look like a Spainish farm but it has a very nice feel about it.Thoroughly recommend this hotel for that Spainish feeling none
The Finca and it's rooms are decorated in a lovely Moorish style. The owner was very nice and welcoming as if inviting you into her home. We ate at the restaurant and had a lovely meal for a very reasonable price. Breakfast was very limited, would have liked more choice. Swimming pool looked a bit grubby.
The owners, Inma and her husband were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Inma spoke good english. We felt like part of the family. Breakfast was "continental" buffet style and the optional evening meal had a choice of 3 starters, 3 mains and 3 desserts. A glass (or two) of wine was included in the price. The food was very good "home" cooking. There is a terrace bar with views of the lights of Granada in the evening and a small pool which was clean. Our room with a balcony had rustic charm and an efficient air-conditioning system. The location had wonderful views and was convenient for the Sierra Nevada and Granada both just 15 minutes drive away.
The room was clean, liked the swimming pool, friendly hotel staff. The restaurant and our waiter was not up to the expectations, and the standard of the hotel. Would recommend a dinner in the city.
It was a good combination, you visit the city and afterwards go back to your hotel we're it's possible to relax in a quiet area!!
very friendly and helpful staff. good food. high standards throughout the hotel. We stayed over a fiesta weekend. a funfair was near by and very loud until late at night, followed by a rock concert until 4am. unable to use swimming pool. building work to the hotel still in progress.
Got a spacious room with big terrace and great views. Tasty decor. Friendly staff. Nice pool-area (no crowds, we were alone). Very quiet area at night. Free parking. It is not the best choice for travellers without own wheels, although there is a bus stop right next to the hotel gate. In one point the bathroom door (room 206) touched the floor. Force was needed to open and close.
not the hotel, but it is difficult to find, a sign near the gas station at bottom of hill would help
The room was lovely and the view was excellent and a small fridge in the room helped. The first day was a nightmare for us with no wi-fi working and the shower was hardly warm, and only one staff member in the back office was helpful. Reception run by waiters who couldn't speak english and too busy to be bothered with trying to help. No tourist information available - and although a restaurant there it seemed empty. We did get room service finally and that was reasonably priced and very nice. Apparently they offer free coffee or tea to your room 24hrs a day - but it was too hard to ask for it!
We had a double room with one bad, but in reality those was two seperate just putted together it makes sleep in this bad imposible.
Price Tv not working some channels not accessable
it was a really nice hotel for the price requested, and very good services.
Great value for money. Fantanstic sized rooms and helpful staff, parking on site, child play area and located with great views just 8km from centre of Grenada (12 minutes drive) and 30km from Sierra Neveda mountains and snow.
The staff was extremely helpful, the room very comfortable. Good transport to Granada by bus.
Good value for money base for skiing or Granada. Friendly staff, clean warm room, garage parking available.
the place is greath to travellers with car, if you dont have one -dont go to this hotel the stuff is greath and we had great time there no
old colonial feel, friendly helpful staff, easy access to Alhambra, good view of town and mountain
very relaxed atmosphere and easy check in and check out. convenient to have private parking. quiet during the night.
It is easy to find when travelling by car. Close to the Alhambra and not too far from the Sierra Nevada resort. Easy parking facility As a whole I would state that it is rather a 2-star class hotel than a 3* one, as listed. In low season, the price is quite high compared to what is usually available in small spanish towns. We paid 85€ on w-e with extra-bed, and 65 € would have been more adequate. The breakfast is frankly poor. The small city of Cenes has absolutely nothing to offer : walking down the mainstreet is quite spleeny, to say the least... But if you are just on a stop-and-go journey it's ok, The hotel is family- managed and they do their best to make your stay enjoyable. If the price were more in line with the package, I would recommend it firmly.
secure parking and internet access Shower gel and shampoo not replenished so had to go out and buy after first day
The Don Gonzalo is of a very good standard with regard to cleanliness, friendliness and helpfulness of staff and quality of food.
to feel welcome
Perfect for everyone who likes to combine a city trip (with Alhambra not to be missed!) and exploring the mountains of the Sierra Nevada / the Alpujarras. Especially Los Cahorros (30 min walk from the hotel) is worth a visit. Staff is very very kind! They make your stay even better. The pool is nice, especially after a long day walking. A car can be helpfull, but the bus goes frequently to Granada and takes less than half an hour. The restaurant was closed during our visit (for renovation) so we don't know if it's good. In summer it's low season so many restaurants in the village are closed, but there's always something to eat. Our bed was a bit hard, but for the rest was the room really comfortabel.
Peaceful setting, friendly and helpful staff. No
Staff were very friendly and the room was lovely and clean. This is a lovely hotel but unfortunately the location is not great if you want to do anything on foot. Luckily we had a car with us but it would have been nice to have had just one more restaurant or pub within walking distance as you are literally stuck at the hotel. The hotel is lovely and the staff are great but very little English spoken at the hotel and in fact in the region.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. TV with international channels & wireless available. quiet place. A good place to stay if you want to be a bit outside of Granada. It was not difficult to reach the center of Granada by car. There was no water in the pool, but it might have been because it was the end of the season. There are not many restaurants, bars in the area if you don't want to drive. We stayed only one night in the village in the evening. The rest of the time we went to Granada.
Friendly staff, good location and facilities our room was tiny, once unpacked there was little space to move between bed and bathroom. it had a small balcony to compensate for the small interior.
Helpfulness of the staff.
It was in an excellent position and really made us feel like we were in the mountains. Great experience. Room was quite crowded with four but was still good.
swimming pool, helpful friendly staff, beer mugs, peaceful setting
Absolutely lovely place; good and clean rooms, great views and helpfull staff.
It was very nice being close the siera nevada and also close to granada. none
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. As a hotel in the mountains it was kept very well heated. Th room was very basic for a three star hotel. There were no rug or carpet on the floor. Bath room was small and had no hairdryer and would have been very small and awkward for a larger sized person.
Cleanliness, restaurant staff very helpful and pleasant Receptionist kind but a smile would have been very welcoming. One of our party was slightly disabled and both ladies in the party found the toilet was squashed in and not easily accessible.Choice of dinner menu was very limited particularly for starters.
Location was great for sierra nevada Meant to be buffet evening meal but hotel put on menu instead which was very poor with 2 starters both fish, 2 mains 1 fish not what you expect from 3* hotel. Asked to purchase ski lift passes from hotel to save time at resort but guy on reception said it takes 15 minutes to do so just get them there as there would be no ques, but when we got there we had to que for over 2 hours which was very annoying when you have 2 children with you, so his laziness ruined our morning.
Great View. Knowledgeable staff, good breakfast. Very small bathrooms.
Good dinner buffet. Good Location. Free internet wireless
Close to Ski resort - staff were very pleasant. Only worth what I paid (which was half price)... Many more nicer hotels around, it was very tatty and worn, internet was essential to me but not working and wasn't repaired during the stay.
Very helpful staff Damp smell in the room and no ventilation in the bathroom
Value for money when skiing in Sierra Nevada. Well kept road when snowing. We had (a rental )car and there is good parking space for free.Small gym. Close to Sierra nevada and Granada . Beds OK. Had to change room a couple of times due to problems with the bathrooms, though. Some of the staff were very kind and helpful but there were also a few people who acted far from serviceoriented and who were almost rude. The breakfast is poor. I would tell people that the hotel is Ok but also inform aboiut the drawbacks. The hotel is inefficially soundproof
lovely hot water for showering. terrible breakfast, drink machine needs filter changing and extra cost for using sauna. waiting a long time for someone to attend the bar and lack of t.v. channels.
Only 10 minutes from Sierra Nevada and is half the price.
The hotel is very well located for accessing the slopes. Staff was very helpful. The noise at night due to proximity to several bars...
Close to lifts, had a room in the back that was quite noisy. don't forget 25€ parking get the parking included in the price.
Mostly everything was just ok however the staff who were excellent and the great location out weighed this. Room with a balcony and view was also an upside. Breakfast could have been a little more interesting and perhaps of a slightly higher quality for the cost of the room.
Friendliness of reception staff Needs renovation. Rooms very cold.
On arrival at the hotel we checked in immediately and were personally shown to our rooms and advised where to park the car.Our rooms were very spacious and bright. The location was breath taking and just perfect for our needs. To wake up and see the ski slopes and chair lifts was amazing. Also to be right in the centre of the village was fantastic. There was plenty to see and do.The food in the hotel restaurant was also excellent with many choices and plenty of everything. The rooms were so warm, one of my main concerns was whether we would be warm enough and there was always very hot water all through the day.I have stayed in ski resorts before when everyone returns from the slopes there is no hot water for a time.I shall definitely recommend. No we had the perfect stay.Thank you.
Proximity to the snow
The room was large and neat and the location was relatively convienient. The heat did not work well in the room which was quite cold and the shower water temperature was not consistant.
easy access to slopes and shops
It was our first visit to Sierra Nevada ski-resort.It was positive experience, surely we will return ...
Made to feel welcome, staff were well trained and informative. Nothing was too much trouble.
The room is very spacious. No parking but street parking is available
Reasonably priced (youth hostel type) hotel considering it's in the ski village. Very basic accomodation which is need of some TLC.
No good points No lift in hostal,to hot in hostal, noisey and when booking on web page thought it was a hotel.
Good buffet breakfast selection, room was cleaned regularly, rooms were warm and heating was adjustable. No lift, 3rd floor with cases was challenging. Mens toilet in reception had no seat. Price seemed pretty strong for 2*.
Location only Very scruffy and rundown. The room was a dormitory with 4 beds reminiscent of my military days. The beds were very short and our ankles hung over the end. It was the most expensive sruffy hostal we have ever stayed and half the price would have been too much. I am an ex Fire Officer and the fire safety is horendous, Extinguishers were missing, fire doors did not have self closers and our room was in a very long dead end with one way out but no fire separation. We would have gone elsewhere but it was Easter and the skiing was superb. I have often stayed in this resort and it is very expensive compared to the rest of Europe for skiing so we new we would have to pay over the odds but this place is a disgrace and a fire trap.
Breakfast was good. For the pice paid (124 euros/night) the value of the room was quite poor, the quality of the facilities was poor and the beds were quite uncomfortable. I would have paid for this about 60 euros instead as a fair price for what I got.
Beautiful location in the Sierra Nevada, great base for hiking, picturesque village, friendly staff, good breakfast, really nice clean and modern rooms, excellent value for money
Very clean, very comfortable, nice staff - best value for money!
