8.5 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous peaceful location in open countryside and the grounds match the high quality of the premises - automatic gates, ample parking and very secure. A bottle of wine at reasonable cost and the top of the garden is a great place for a sundowner. Room - we chose the suite for our stay - was clean and well furnished - very comfortable. We had difficulty finding the place but fortunately happened on the family in the village when asking for directions and the owner then proceeded to lead the way a kilometre or two along the road. Satnav incapable of locating the property but we realised later that Google maps had it spot on direct from our calendar booking. We live and learn :-)
Cons: Breakfast was simple and just about adequate - bread rolls, some butter and cold milk for cereals would have been an improvement.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location just outside Ajo village. Easy to find. Lovely stylish place, cool, sea view in distance. Good simple menu in house for the evening meal. Very handy for Santander ferry, only about half an hour away on a coastal road.

Pros: I really want to say this is one of the best hostels that ive stayed for traveling. The owner was welcoming me so much, super clean, bed was so comfy and private. And i love the rest area. I was exhausted traveling northern spain for a week, and in santander, i found home (here!) and was so relieved and happy to take enough rest. Thank you!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Pedro and Marta, the owners are legends! they give you really good advice on where to eat and what to see in the city, and even outside the city! The place itself is super clean, the beds are amazing, and common areas are really comfy aswell. Security wise you have a card to enter the hostel and the room, and your own locker inside the room. The neighborhood is full of places to eat and walking distance to the coast. If your looking for a place to stay in santander, don't think about it twice, stay here!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stayed at this hotel a few times, it's very friendly and accommodating even for a large hotel. B/Fast in the cafe downstairs is great value, ie. club sandwich and coffee for 5 euro. In fact the food and coffee in the cafe are excellent. Try and get a front sea view if you can, this time we had a city view which is great, but not as interesting. Bathrooms, bedrooms all great size. And they look after your bikes for you. Great location as well for the city and the ferry. Will be staying there again and again.
Cons: I asked for a room late check out, which was all verbally agreed to be 3pm the following day, (the ferry was delayed). But the next day when the ferry was delayed further, I asked if I could extend this any further. The reply from the receptionist (someone I'd not spoken to before), was we don't do extensions at all, you have to leave at 12:30... I tried to explain we'd already extended to 3pm, but she didn't seem to want to listen. It got resolved in the end and we stuck with 3pm, but its amazing how even small incidents add stress to a visit.

Cons: Location was excelent

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hostel Allegro in Santander, you'll be within a 15-minute walk of Santander Cathedral and Santander Ferry Terminal. Featured amenities include a computer station, luggage storage, and microwave in a common area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I really liked staying in this hostel, mostly because Rafael (the owner) is such a lovely guy!! He was very helpful and so welcoming and friendly!! He works really hard and does everything in this hostel, even makes breakfast but he always had time for a little chat with me. And everything is done very well, the hostel is spick and span!! I also liked the common areas (a good place to make friends!), a small patio, ample lockers and the perfect location. The room I stayed in was the biggest I have ever stayed in in a hostel, also with many people in it (I haven't counted how many there were but the room was definitely for more than 10 people). Surprisingly though, I have slept better in that dormitory than in much smaller rooms in some other places, as everybody was very respectful and quiet.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Personalise Breakfast
Cons: Locker did not work, the shower was broken
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner of the hostel, Rafa is a super nice guy! He is very helpful, flexible and makes a really good, friendly and personal mood during your stay :) It was one of my best albergue experiences in my camino! Also I ate an egg prepared in the microwave first in my life :D
Cons: Can't remember anything bad.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is excellent, a walking distance from the bus station, city centre, cathedral. The host was very helpful. Breakfast was included, good and plenty. There is a fridge, electric kettle, kitchen equipment etc. The shared bathroom was always clean and spacious. Wifi connection was good.
Cons: There could have been more than one sockets for a bed to charge the electric devices. There was no electricity in the bathroom sockets, couldn't use my hair straightener there. All other inconveniences were generated by other guests, not the hostel, which is natural in a shared dormitory.
7.9 Good
Pros: - Had a safe place to park my bicycle. - Had an oven as well as a microwave. - Let me leave my luggage at the hostel on departure day and pick it up just before my ferry departed in the evening. - Quiet location.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff! Was fabulous!

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable stop in great position for Camino Del Norte . Restaurant was a welcome bonus.
Cons: Nothing
7.1 Good
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff
Cons: Bathroom. Water flows out from shower easily
6.3 Good
Pros: Great location and room comfortable. Reasonable value but not so if you note checkin is not until 4pm.
Cons: Late checkin at 4pm appears to be to allow related restaurant to max the lunch time trade before same staff dealing with tired guests who want to check in and get clean. When we asked to checkin early we were firmly told not before 4pm. Although this is evident on booking it has been rare to see it so firmly applied. Nearby another posada had 1.30 checkin. Also breakfast not available until 8.30am even for coffee and bread only. This seems poor for what you might pay for some rooms here. On balance it did the job and was value for room but prior comments make other Posada more attractive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I spent my 4th day of Camino de Santiago at this hotel, the bath tub was such a gift as well as waking up in the morning with a mountain view. The hotel staffs are more than kind and friendly, having dinner and breakfast there was like eating at home. The best place I have stayed in a week during my Santiago journey, highly recommended!!
Cons: Nothing to complain at all!!

Pros: Great staff. Very friendly. Food in restaurant was good. Great coffee and fresh apple juice in the morning. Was the perfect place to stay after a long day on the Camino.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely and very helpful staff, great location and good overall experience.
Cons: Unfortunatelly when I was there, they had a problem with plumbing, so no hot water... bad luck for me. But the manager very politely apologized and offered me a breakfast for free as a small compensation. Fair enough, so I guess this doesn't realy belong to "what you did not like" category? :)

Pros: you really feel welcome
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice and friendly decorated. Warm welcoming staff. Very clean and installations seems new as well. Handy location if you wanna stay close to bus station.
Cons: The bedroom gets stuffed during the night as the door and window are closed.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Very clean, across from bus station, great facilities, good breakfast, friendly and welcoming place
6.7 Good
Pros: The place is clean, tidy and the common area is also cosy and nice to chill. Each bed has it's own light and usb charging port. Very well located, next to the bus and trainstation.
Cons: The owner has rude ways to interact with the guests, this kills the atmosphere and makes everyone feel awkward and uncomfortable. The locker I got was in really bad shape and I didn't feel my stuff was safe inside. Also €23 for a bed in a 16 bed dorm, in low season, seems a bit too much, lower rates might bring more people.

It states in pre booking information that this hotel has a restaurant....it doesn't, it has somewhere for breakfast only I'm disabled, if I had been in need of my wheelchair I couldn't have got down to the sea front.....the information of where the hotel is situated (high up in a residential area) is misleading. If I had known it's location I would not have chosen this place
9.2 Excellent
Pros: While the location is not in the heart of the dining/drinking/entertainment district, it's very close. In fact, it sits over that area, on a hill in a quasi-residential neighborhood. However, it's very easy to access the entertainment district. There's an elevator very close to the hotel that takes you down, and a series of outdoor escalators take you both up and down, so there's no need to climb the hill. One advantage is that the neighborhood is more quiet. The hotel is stylish and modern, the rooms are large and comfortable, and the breakfast buffet is varied, substantial, and delicious.
Cons: Driving up to the hotel is a bit intimidating as the streets are very narrow. But ultimately this was not a problem.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Stunning views from our bedroom on 4th floor. Lovely staff. Excellent breakfast, varied. Clean, comfortable, great amenities in the room (free coffee, cheap minibar). 5mins walk from the marina. I highly recommend, excellent price for this level of quality.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We booked an economy room for 1 night it was excellent. Room was decorated to a very high standard, bed linen was crisp and lovely to sleep in. Would highly recommend for a couple of nights stay in the economy room has everything you need. Gluten free breakfast was good, could have improved by providing cereal, apart from that there was a good selection of normal things for breakfast, staff Adrian was very attentive and really informative about the area and good to improve our Spanish with. On arrival Victoria was very helpful and all the staff were friendly and attentive.
Cons: Could provide gluten free cereal.

Pros: The room was lovely and spacious and the bed was really comfy with good quality sheets. The hotel was signposted when we got closer making it easy to find and has the most amazing views to wake up to! We had a room with a jacuzzi bath making our one night stay feel even more luxurious. The staff were lovely and helpful during our stay.
Cons: We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and the public car park behind the hotel was full and it wasn’t clear where else it would be ok to park as the area is residential. We quickly found a space in a marked bay to use a few roads away to use.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bed was comfortable. Room was good with a small balcony looking towards the surrounding hills. Central location for many of the caves we wished to visit.
Cons: We were the only guests in the hotel. The TV in the common room was on continually as was a radio which was on a pop station. Constant noise which detracted from the old world charm of the hotel. Also dogs barking continually from the neighborhood.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: In no particular order but all important- location, style, parking, staff, village proximity
Cons: Bar stock - no wine or local beer.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Receptionist was helpful on check-in although didn't seem to have much knowledge of the local area, in particular places to eat so we struggled a bit to find somewhere on our first night. The rooms are lovely, spacious although limited storage space if you were staying for more than a few days. We didn't have dinner or breakfast so no idea if it was good or not. It's in a very quiet area although I had to close my windows due to a nearby dog barking all night long which made the room a bit too warm to sleep.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The views are spectacular, the rooms comfortable, and the breakfast varied and delicious. It was the perfect place for us (parents and 6 month old baby) to use as a home base to explore the region. The location is really great and even if you do nothing but hang around the hotel for a few days, the fresh air, views and serenity will make you feel recharged. The staff gave us tons of information about the area as well
Cons: nothing to dislike
8.3 Excellent
Cons: The only issues had nothing to do directly with the hotel. Barking dogs in the neighborhood all night and a lack of good places to eat in the evening.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really comfortable beds, nicely appointed and clean. Good breakfast, great views of The Valley, accommodating hosts, good WiFI
Cons: nothing !!

Pros: Everything! The lady of the house so wonderful
Cons: Tea and coffee in room
9.2 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful location and friendly staff .. lovely to be able to sit outside our room in the evening and enjoy the vista. We found a great local restaurant in the nearby village.
Cons: In such hot weather it would’ve been wonderful to have had Air Con. A bit more sound proofing would also have been appreciated.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: The outward appearance of the Casona was as attractive as the photos.
Cons: My partner refused the room in the mansion because of the smell of damp and dogs. We took what looked like a nice room in the more modern annexe overlooking the very nice gardens but which unfortunately also seemed to be damp. As a result I paid up for the 2 nights but left after 1.
6.3 Good
Pros: Lovely spot and beautiful surroundings. Recommend taking a car trip up into the mountains to Vega de pas.
Cons: Limited facilities re breakfast. Unable to pay by credit card.
7.1 Good
Pros: Beautiful setting, comfortable bed, clean room.
Cons: No staff, only the lady (Maria) that owned it that kept telling us it wasnt her proper job. Language barrier was a problem but we managed using google translate. Maria friendly and helpful but no hosting skills. No bar , no restaurant even though it was advertised as having one. Nowhere to sit in the evening. There was a social room but all in darkness. No coffee making facilities in room or anywhere else as far as we could see.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous gardens. A little slice of heaven.
Cons: Decor is a little dated but didn’t make a difference to us.
10.0 Excellent
