Best Gulbene hotelsShow all
Located on the outskirts of the historic town of Gulbene in Northeastern Latvia, about 180 km from Riga, this hotel occupies a lovingly renovated manor from the 19th century. Vecgulbenes muiža offers comfortable rooms with antique furniture and beautiful carpets, each with its own colours and atmosphere. Some rooms have fragments of the original masonry walls. There are also hostel rooms available. Formerly known as Alt-Schwanenburg, the estate includes 2 castles. The White Palace was built in the 1840s as one of the most splendid examples of Historicism in the Baltics. It now houses the hotel. The Red Palace now houses a school. Both buildings were destroyed and rebuilt several times. Vecgulbenes muiža is surrounded by a beautiful park ideally suited for pleasant walks and bicycle rides.
Cons: The place looked dirty , the window had no curtain or blind and the children couldn’t fall asleep. The decor very busy and dark. The receptionist half asleep. Very overpriced for what it was!
Pros: Hotel is in historical building and next to a nice park.
Cons: Next to my room’s window was entrance to hostel, so everyone could see inside my room if shades were not closed, but that’s I think only for one room.
Cons: Too much light. Please install curtains. Also a air conditioner would be great. Good hotel! Thanks
Pros: Breakfast was simple, but nice! Rooms was very clean, and bed and bedding of great quality!
Cons: The staff were not well trained! there was a lot of fingerprints on the dinner plates! same on wine glass! when it was pointed out - the waitress didn't even apologize! by training staff - this place can be made a high class place!
Pros: Breakfast was very good.
Cons: The shower fixture was weird. It required special operating instructions posted on the wall. Unfortunately, I could not read the instructions without my glasses, which I don't normally wear when going to shower. The instructions had a graphic showing how to turn on the water and the shower, but they were essentially incomprehensible. It took me 10 minutes until I chanced upon how to turn on the shower and it was not because I suddenly understood the instructions, I just noticed some color coding on the shower hose fitting.
Pros: Hotel with perfect location and friendly staff. i liked restaurant - food was excellent, especially grilled chicken and pasta with chicken.
Pros: Relaxing atmosphere and good dining experience.
Cons: No issues.
Pros: The place to be, visiting Gulbene.
Cons: Staff could be a litle bit better :)
Pros: Gorgeous manor in a very picturesque place - rooms are clean and very well maintained, staff friendly and welcoming,
Cons: all is great

Hotel Gulbene features free Wi-Fi access throughout the property. Some guestrooms have a seating area and a spa bath. Hotel Gulbene provides simply-furnished rooms with cable TV. A private bathroom is offered with all rooms. The hotel also offers a shuttle service and a 24-hour reception desk. Free private parking is also available.
Pros: My colleague an I stayed in two different rooms. The rooms were spacious; everything in the hotel was clean and tidy. Staff was helpful and provided us with some information.
Cons: The hotel serves no breakfast.
Cons: Wifi was almost non-existent.
Pros: Good place to stay 1-2 nights.
Cons: Sound isolation is rather poor brtween rooms and the hall.
Pros: The only good thing was the location. On their website it clearly states they do a shuttle bus service. I emailed them to confirm this and they replied to say they do. After checking in hotel I asked the reception lady about the shuttlebus service and she said they don't offer this service ! Why put it on your website and reply back to me to say you do offer this service WHEN YOU DONT ! It is very misleading. We feel we paid €80 for nothing
Cons: Double bed matress was very springy and old. You could feel the springs poking through the matress when your lying down. The bedding was very old and itchy. It made our skin itchy and come out in a rash. Pillows were too lumpy made our neck sore. The furniture ! ( if you could call it furniture ) is very basic. A wooden table. 2 chairs which looked like it was for an office rather than for a bedroom. Double bed with wooden frames. Nothing for hanging/storeing your clothes. The room was a double room. It was fairly spacious with not much furniture. Looked very empty and uninviting. Tv only had 4 channels mostly in Latvian/Russian language not much use if your from the UK ! No pictures on the walls. The shower was dreadful ! The water wouldn't drain quickly. So had to have a quick shower or the water would overflow out onto the bathroom floor. Therefore we couldn't enjoy our showers in case we flooded the bathroom. The noise through the hotel was unbearable. You could hear guests coming in and out of their rooms slamming their doors. The noise outside was unbearable cause workmen were hammering/drilling etc at 7.30am in the morning ! So had no sleep during our 2 night stay. We paid €80 for 2 nights which we thought was overpriced. I have stayed in other hotels for the same price and there was tea/coffee kettle and cups. Cupboards/wardrobes. Hairdryer.
Pros: Hotel is in the centre of the city, close to everything, good customer service, very basic
Pros: Good location, near the city hall
Cons: there is no breakfast. the staff couldn't speak english.
Pros: Personal was very nice and helped us quick too find an extra room which we where not planing to have
Cons: It was hot to sleep in the room because temperature outside was 30 degrees we had to be with open windows. There was some noise outside in the street
Pros: Very friendly personnel. Low price.
Cons: Dirty ventilation in bathroom. Towel's hook in lowest position on the wall. Towel gots the floor. Shelf is absent under the mirror. There are non-comfortable hooks for clothes. Window is open(+35 and no condition) and store front of hotel got the goods at 11p.m. Very loudly in this case. No cleaning during my staying (two nights).
Cons: Not in the station building, but in the administration building opposite. Very old and decrepit. Rooms upstairs and toilet and bathroom below. One bathroom for many rooms meant long queue. But cheap at 8 euro per person
Cons: Trip wih Banitis:)
