Booked a superior double room located at upper floors with excellent views over the mountains. Excellent location, ski shuttle in front of the hotel, fair breakfast though under a 4-star usually offers and a little bit overpriced but overall good hotel.
good sauna facilities
The hotel is located near the town center and the ski bus pick up point. Very good breakfast facilities in the morning. Apart from lack of follow thru on promised adjustment of room rate for kids, the hotel has only one PC in the lobby for internet access. This is clearly not sufficient for for potentially 150 plus users.
Horrible and a highly overpriced hotel.. No services, no coffee maker in a hotel room rated 4 star. Also staff very ineffective.they charge05 francs for a bowl of hot water to sterilise the childs spoon. Everything.
breakfast, friendly staffs and location sauna should be separate between man and woman.
Staff were very friendly, especially in the dining room. Very tolerant of children Cleaning staff could have been better
The staff was extremely friendly. The location is perfect, right in the center, with the ski bus in front of the door, ski school office and information center across the street, nice restaurants and a supermarket nearby. The swimming pool and wellness are perfect. We will return ! With our dog - he liked it too :-)
The bed was very hard and uncomfortable
We liked the location and the breakfast.
The staff were excellent , extremely helpful and courteous , went out of there way to make you feel welcome Pillows ( if you can call them that ) . Shower head was useless
Good location out of the centre of town. Room had a nice balcony to enjoy the mountain air and for a permitted smoke. Does not take American Express.
Peaceful atmosphere, homely feeling, friendly staff and owners -None-
Close to skiing, nice spa area Poor brakfasts, no possibility to eat dinner
A good stay, friendly people, very helpfull, nice place, good beakfast, parking, free internet WI-FI, budget friendly, very nice room ! No
The staff were very attentive to us as a family with 2 young children and this was appreciated. The family room we booked was perfect and allowed us to eat early with the children in our room and also enough space for the children to play and for parents to relax.
I staied this hotel 5 nights. Facility and service is not bad. But front manager is not professional. When I check out, they bill me more than 1000 SFR than I resrved. To solve this problem, it took more than one hours! I use many times booking.com, but I've never met this kind of problem
Full equiped room (inc. kitchenette) in a convinient location. Breakfast was generous.
It was a beautiful room And the view and the owners very friendly and made us feel at home we will be back
Good Hotel outside Paris. Take the rer to downtown. Rer vey close to hotel.
Excellent hotel rooms were clean. Hotel is just walking distance from the Railway station. Break Fast was good & unlimitited as well.
The location, the sauna, and the price
The hotel staff was very nice and helpful. They made my husband's birthday very special. There was always something going on and they did their best to entertain their guests. The all inclusive drinks were horrible. You had three choices, white wine, red wine and beer. We ended up sticking with the beer because the wine was disgusting. The food was great two out of the three nights we were there. All the food was served buffet style and you shared your table with other guests. We met some great families but there was no intimate dinner time. Our ski guide was very nice but was not accommodating for beginning skiers. They make it clear they are not a "ski school". It's obvious they want to ski the more difficult hills than show the easier beginner hills. Therefore, If you are an experience skier you will have a blast but if you are still learning, you should stay away from the ski guide.
Corridors and bathrooms are clean but a little too shabby.
Good situation, nice view, big breakfast, proposing many activities Small room but still ok. At restaurant no possibilities to sit on a 2 or 4 place table. Only big tables for 10 people.
smoking lounge the rooms are terrible. smaller than a tuna fish can! one light bulb in the bathroom. smallest bed ever seen. the staff is very rude. wireless only at the lobby. low quality breakfast.
Lively hotel - lots going on Booked two twin rooms but on arrival had one large four bedded room, wasn't suitable but hotel was full. Did give some discount but only after asking and would have preferred the rooms we booked.
The Hotel Terrace has a great view, and the trolley made it very easy to reach town.
the front desk was very helpful, the room we stayed in was particularly quiet away from the rest of the hotel and even though a very small room, had a nice view of the mountain the breakfast buffet quality was good, but the other meals were buffet steam table type, cafeteria type food.
just views. It was awful. restaurant was so busy. staff was unkind. There are a lot of group tourist. I was unhappy. to find hotel was so difficult.
The food (buffets) were good quality and good value. Excellent view over the town to the mountains. The lift facility right from the town to the hotel is very handy. The room was very basic and the en-suite shower/washbasin/toilet really needed refurbishing. Adequate for a week's skiing, but not a room to spend much time in.
location with repect to the ski lift and the breakfast was good. We live in the USA and stays in hotels are much more reasonable with regards to how much it costs.
Hotel is ideally located and had a excellent scenaric view. The Hotel Name is written as Hotel Sonnwendhof. There is no where mentioned that it is Treff except on a flag.
The hotel was very nice. It was close to the ski lifts and also to the center of town. Currently there is building construction going on behind hotel (beyond hotels control) and work starts at 0700 and terminates at 1630. Not that bad if you get up early, however forget about sleeping in.
staff very polite and friendly we upgraded to half board and menu was only in 1 language, food was undercooked which we then had to buy food out the meat had blood running out of it and no option have have fully cooked
It was great weather and the scenery is just stunning. The hotel room was very nice, every room in the hotel has a balcony, which is good. No tea/coffee making facilities (but that is normal for Switzerland)
location to town centre
Excellent location in Engleberg, handy to Gondala and village restaurants with friendly helpfull staff and comfortable good sized rooms. My wife and myself enjoyed our stay and would certainly stay there again.
clean room. good views. quiet nights. excellent breakfast. price slightly high
Quiet & friendly Bar and door close at 9:oo pm.
Very convenient location, 5 min walk to the Titlis cable car. Big variety for breakfast and friendly staff. Not really...
Nice hotel and rooms.
It was a disaster. My wife and I drove on the very steep mountain, narrow roads and its very far from the autobahn.Very disappointed won't stay there again.Accommodation was poor with regard to the cost we paid.
Nice location, friendly staff, good restaurant. Good value for money.
It was in a good location Very spartan for 150 CHF a night
Staff were very welcoming and helpful Lack of car parking
Free secure motorcycle parking, good breakfast and dinner
We felt extremely welcomed, the owner and staff were very kind and accommodating. These people know how to look after their customers. On arrival there was a problem with the room, it wasn't the type we had booked. They went to great lengths to give us different options and make sure we were happy with it. The food they offer is superb, made with local produce and you can taste the difference. We would have stayed a few more days if it wasn't so expensive. For this reason during this trip we spent most of our holidays in France and Italy and kept our stay in Switzerland to the minimum.
The hotel staff were very friendly and thankfully spoke good english as my german is poor. We stayed in an apartment which is located a short distance away to the rear of the hotel, with its own underground car parking space. You can then use the hotel restaurant if required.
Nice staff, good food. On a busy main road and lots of traffic noise late into night meant we didn't get a lot of sleep. Also bar terrace was directly below our room so noise from patrons was very loud.
everything, the road was closed, so we arrived at 12 midnight, they did not mind waiting up for us and also made us something to eat and drinks, rooms where great, highly recomended to anyone
Spacious room, great views of the mountains, nice walk into town, good breakfast, free coffee and tea making facilities which was quite nice. Booked a medium sized room, didn't look like what was in the picture, green carpet, no floor boards. Asked about wifi and didn't tell us about the free wifi, only about the chargeable one. Maid started to clean our room as if we were staying another night (i.e. made the beds), had to explain to her we were checking out so we need to go into our room and pack our bags.
pleasant helpful people in the hotel, nice breakfast, good area for a range of activities. better to have a car but not essential especially if you enjoy walking.
Friendly staff, lovely breakfast, beautiful setting, clean facilities, nice room, great to be able to purchase drinks for a reasonable price to take to the room. Only negative was the bathroom in our room, it was very very small and really let it down.
Everything about the Garni Hostatt was wonderful. After travelling around Europe/UK for some time, staying some great hotels and B&Bs, we really wanted to spend Christmas in a place that provided a feeling of home. The Garni more than met this need. The warm greeting on arrival immediately set the scene for the next 5 days. Our room had amazing views across the snow to the mountains and was warm, comfortably and scrupulously clean. We just loved the walk into the town so much that we never even considered taking the Engelberg free bus service. We now dream of returning to Engelberg and if we are lucky enough to do so, our first choice for accommodation is the Garni Hostatt.
it is a very quiet location, small place, very clean but a bit expensive
We opted for a large double and it was well worth the extra space. We had beautiful views of the mountains from our windows and a small balcony to sit and gaze. Very clean facilities with communal coffee making facility that you could use at any time. The breakfasts were adequate. The rooms very clean. The hotel is in a quiet location, a stroll from the centre of Engelberg. No complaints
The views of the mountains and town from the rooms was spectacular and the staff were really helpful with local knowledge and advice.
Excellent Hotel, fantastic view on mountains. Very clean.
everything was just great!
I really enjoied my stay at Garni Hostatt. Nice and polite staff, clean bedroom, good location (just 15 mins to the village by walk or 5 mins by free bus, only 5 mins to the closest ski station), delicious breakfast and the owner drove us (lift) to Engelberg train station when we left the hotel. The owner gave us very good tips about the village, where eat, have fun, rent ski equipament, etc.
wellness area Poor breakfast, Italian speaking staff mainly, no TV, radio in the room, hotel far from everything
Hotel is sited in beautiful mountainous area, Room with jaccusi was good although there were 3 flights of stairs to climb with no lift to transport heavy cases. Room had one small window with no view. Restaurant was disorganised staff forgetting our drinks with the meal. We felt the Italian food was expensive here; Breakfast was no different.
Everything! The staff was wonderful. Our room was perfect. For a weekend getaway, away from everything hectic, this place is perfect. And the restaurant has amazing food! Can't think of anything!
The quality of the food at dinner and that's it. Poor breakfast. Poor wellness facilities. Only 2 staff, one of which only speaks Italian and is not very friendly. Too expensive for the location (far from everything) and the quality of the rooms.
The Chalet is unbelievably gorgeous, set in the most beautiful surroundings with very helpful friendly staff, delicious food (even as a vegetarian!) we absolutely loved it and are trying to think of an excuse to go back! The bedroom was a bit disappointing in that the 'double' was a twin and the standard was really that of a european travel lodge. We were in a 'silver' room which didn't seem particularly nice. We were obviously paying for the setting rather than the room.
The service at the hotel is excellent. The room was small but comfortable with an amazing view of the mountains. The breakfast could be better, the selection was extremely limited.
Great service, great views, and some of the best food we've ever had! After an epic day cycling through some high passes in freezing blizzards, this guest house was a godsend. Seriously, the restaurant was superb with great views of the mountains, and subtle flavours that are difficult to find these days. Delicious! We took the spa room, and though it didn't have a view it was clean and comfortable with a nice big jacuzzi that wasn't too noisy in its operation, and very soothing on our tired legs. The buffet breakfast was a simple continental affair with several types of bread, cereal, fruit, cold meats and cheese, and boiled eggs. All in all a beautiful little guest house with the restaurant being the highlight.
Beautiful location with mountains surrounding the village that the hotel was located in. Limited breakfast.
We have stayed here twice now, en route to Italy. The hotel is not far from the motorway but feels remote in a pretty mountain village. The staff are always charming and anxious to please.
To sleep for one night
