Upper West Side
The room was clean, the staff were awesome I honesty did not have any dislikes
Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Our hotel door was jammed a bit and was hard to open and close. The door knob was also broken so you would have to turn it all the way and basically kick the door to open it.
Privacy and friendliness of staff
Location is ok The rooms do not have a roof, just because the owners think they are smart by selling you "privacy" but really all they do is set wood boards between beds, so you book a room and get a 60 bed room, noisy, smelly and the bathrooms are the worst I have seen in NY, had to change hotels but lost all money because it was non refundable of course.
If you're ok with having little space, this place is great. It's clean, the staff is great, the guests all seem to respect both privacy and quiet, the bathrooms were spotless and the rooms, while very small, had storage space for your bag, a clean bed and a small bed side table/desk. I went there to unwind and reflect, and it was the perfect location. While everyone respects the quiet of the space, you can still hear pretty much everything, from footsteps to bag rustling. It's totally quiet after 11pm, but if a guest needs to leave at 5am and you're a light sleeper, you'll likely hear them. Otherwise, no complaints!
location, staff, vegetarian friendly room walls are paper thin with no ceilings so you hear everything around you from coughing to conversations to snoring. Earplugs are a must. The showers were terrible though. No hot water in most of the showers and if someone else was showering in a nearby shower stall forget having any water pressure.
Humbly, please inform me about helping with movies about the future of the library. I have approached New York Public Library. Humbly, please inform fully. OK.
I choose to stay at Vanderbilt YMCA because it is so convenient and yet does not cost hundreds of dollars a night. After staying there several times over the past four years for up to a week at a time, I may change my mind if the quality continues to decline. Each time I've been, the services have gotten worse. I'm not talking about the 25 year old TVs that are so big they are a predominate feature in the room nor am I talking about the creakiness of the bunk beds when you turn over at night, nor the carpet that hasn't been changed in over a decade. I can live with these for three to six nights (our typical stay). I'm talking about asking for an extra pillow each day for two days and never getting it. I could understand if it was overlooked once but when I didn't get it the first night, I asked again and still didn't get it. In addition, our room was not made up one day until almost 5:00. One day the top bunk was not made up but the sheets just laid on the bed in a bundle. Another night the top bunk sheet was made but the blanket was not put on it. So I will try them again but if the quality of service and attitude of the staff continue to degrade we will not be back.
Pool was fun. Staff was wonderful. Room was inexpensive. Location was great. Room 905 -- private bathroom was nice for us traveling as a father and son. Very Spartan. Feels like an old apartment building or dorm room -- room floor is linoleum, tile is old, windows are old. The room felt clean, but there is grime in the corners.
For my trouble I was given 2 entries to empire state building. Room floor was never cleaned. When I arrived I was given a room that was not clean. The second room was horribly noisy at night, it was in front of the elevator and the was a noise of something dropping inside a pipe. The third room I was in was in a floor being refurbished. This floor was very good but very noisy around 9 pm. After 1 night in the third room I was told I had to change. The manager wanted to give us 2 bunker beds and we are a couple, we payed more to sleep together. Fourth room was kind of OK. Notice that all the doors in the hotel make a big noise so you need ear plugs to be OK.
