Close airport Clean Friendly staff None
Visited Blue Lagoon. Got gas, ate.
very helpful hotel staff, easy to find, parking direct in front of the room. Clean rooms, good breakfast buffet.
Very convinient location Price was rather high
It was very clearn and confortable hotel. The stuff was very kindly and nice man. I think so that If you don't have a rental car,it is very inconvenience.
Great breakfast, comfortable beds, spacious easy accessible room, free internet, helpful staff - overall a very welcome surprise and an enjoyable stay.
The manager gave us a 2 for 1 pass for the blue lagoon which he had found in the daily paper. It was a lovely touch.
My friend and I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Vogar. First thing we noticed was that our room was spotless and well furnished/decorated. The hotel owner is extremely nice and hospitable. Parking is conveniently offered right outside the rooms with the Blue Lagoon and Keflavik Airport only 5-6 miles driving distance away. The breakfast offered had a wide variety of choices and was delicious. Also, the beds were very comfortable. We had the best sleep and the beautiful Icelandic countryside was all we saw from our window. Great place for comfort, peace, and solitude!
Friendly staff, efficient transfer to the airport, decent breakfast, and clean rooms. A big plus: the hotel hosts a full service gym/fitness center which guests can use for free. The big negative was the soft double bed my wife and I tried to sleep on. How did they manage to get ahold of Grandma's old bed from her basement?
Near airportand Blue Lagoon
Walking distance to main-street with restaurants and shops.. The spare-beds in the suites where not as comfortable as I hoped, woke up with some pain in my back. The doublebed was ok.
Close to Airport Dinner too expensive especially the beer
Value for money, excellent breakfast, comfortable room, free return journey to airport. Resturant not avilable for dinner - catering for parties. Ate in a town resturant and at another hotel which were both good.
Close to the Keflavik airport, comfortable and clean. Buffet breakfast (good choice) included within the price and begins at 5:00 am... Free Internet access. Relatively small room with smaller bathroom.
The best alternative in Keflavik. Sometimes too busy in the small breakfast room. Have to wait to get a free seat/table.
Good breakfast and a nice restaurant Poor timing. City shut off the water supply for construction. Out of the hotels control however
the proximity to the airport
Location close to the airport. Pleasant staff and breakfast is much better than continental (in information). Really value for money. I have to take a taxi to the hotel; only back paid by the hotel.
Ambiance cleanliness and breakfast Room small for 3 people Shower not hot enough for me
I stayed overnight on a connection, which was not my planned route so I was in a terrible mood about the whole thing. However, I was very pleasantly surprised. I loved that it was right by the Keflavik terminal (they say five minutes but I walked there with all my bags in two and a half). I love hard floors in hotel rooms because it just seems so much more hygienic-- you can see how clean (or unclean!) the floors are and my room was immaculate when I arrived. The bathroom is very basic and the beds (I had two singles in my room) don't look like much but... THE BEDS AND BEDDING ARE PHENOMENAL. I slept so soundly and so comfortably I almost didn't want to leave. The comforters were just the right weight, the pillows were perfect. Seriously. After bed, I packed up and got ready, then crawled back in bed until right before checkout. The included breakfast goes until ten o'clock and had a lot of variety and was very filling. Checkout is at noon but they don't seem to mind you hanging out in their lobby for a few hours after. I didn't have a need for a car, but it's also by all of the car rental places-- I would suggest this hotel if your plan is to see a lot of things outside of Reykjavik while you're staying over (parking was also free I believe). The wifi wasn't very cooperative and I had trouble connecting multiple times (they're individual routers rather than an integrated system your device roams on) but it eventually worked and was fast enough. I would agree with other posters that when you come in on a flight at midnight, it's confusing to figure out where it exactly is in relation to the exit-- a sign in the airport would be nice, but people are friendly enough if you ask.
Location: 5 to 10 minute walk from Keflavik airport. Excellent Staff: I flew overnight and didn't account for the date change. Staff was very accommodating, changing my dates and even letting me check in early. Before we realized the error, they were happy to hold my luggage. Food: The breakfast buffet was just ok, but I enjoyed the chicken stir-fry at dinner. A seamless experience to land in the morning, store luggage, go touring for a day, then check an early flight out the next day. Getting there: there is no side walk, so you must take a detour around the parking lot or walk more directly on the grass. This was more my/ reykjavik excursions fault: I asked the ticket woman from flybuss about the bus into the city, and she said every 10 minutes, I ended up taking my time at the hotel and missed the flybus. The next one would go 2 hrs later, missing my tour. I had to take a taxi. If you do drop things at the hotel, you should go back to the airport quickly as the last bus to the city tends to leave within 40 minutes of landing.
The hotel was close to the airport terminal which was great at 3AM. I will stay at this hotel again. I called GetA Room 3 times before I received an answer to my question. The answer came two days after my hotel stay, TOO LATE!!! I will never use this service again.
Good value for the amount I paid. Location was within walking distance of the airport and rental car return. No complaints.
This is a nice hotel located 2 minutes from the airport. It is very convenient when taking a late or early flight. Beds were comfortable and place was very clean. Front desk staff was very kind and accommodating. There was an elevator for heavy suitcases (yes!), first hotel to have it since arriving in Iceland and staying in 7 different hotels. I was very happy with this hotel. Only thing missing was tea/coffee and kettle in room, this would have been a nice touch.
This is a great place to stay if you have a quick overnight stop in Iceland before flying out the next day. I loved that it was walking distance from the airport and that breakfast was included. The room itself was nice and very clean. While it didn't have the amenities of the Hilton Hotel (where we had previously stayed), I personally felt that the room was of the same (wonderful) quality. The hotel can be a little confusing to find in the dark and when you are tired - wish there was a sign somewhere in the airport. I also found the price to be a bit high, but you are paying for the convenience (and everything in Iceland tends to be expensive).
Clean room, clean hotel, good breakfast, great staff Bed was poor for US standards, but ok for Europe standards. Lacking extra pillows, comforters.
The location- very close to the airport, extremely friendly staff, offering even a pick-up from the airport. Great design of the interior and the hot water bath outside (naturally heated water)
Everything. The hosts here were absolutely wonderful. They picked us up from airport for no extra charge, were very accommodating to our odd travel times, and they even left personal bathrobes, house slippers, and pool shoes for us to use. The heated pool was AMAZING and we wish we could have spent more time here. I cannot recommend the breakfast option with your stay enough. Not only is it very worth it, but the hosts' cooking abilities were fantastic. Yuki makes fresh bread, and Andi's espresso skills are on-point. Best experience we had in all of Iceland, and we did A LOT of stuff, so I feel like that's saying quite a bit. Nothing. We couldn't recommend this guesthouse enough. Absolutely a highlight of our 9 days in Iceland.
Style, design, natural spa A small bathroom
The home is an art installation in and of itself. No detail went untouched. The hot pot is the icing on the cake and Daniel, the Guesthouse Owner, is someone who will never be forgotten.
Beautill place, very very nice rooms, very original ! Friendly people, super breakfast with fresh baked bread... 5 min from airport. Nice tub outside, unfortunately I forget my badingsuit. Very personaly but still enough privacy ! Nothing ! I really will stay there next time too and I would recommend it too everybody when going to the blue lagoon or if you have an early/late flight !
The rooms were all unique and beautifully painted. Location was excellent, airport was 5mins drive away, and the best resturant in town was over the road. Beds were fantastic, very warm and very comfortable. Shame we had to leave at 4am. Shower was poor, and it's very noisy. I'd recommend that the owners invest in some carpets or rugs for the floors in the common area, and maybe oil the doors. The locks were real noisy too, maybe install a seperate lock on the inside of each room? Like the ones you see in bathrooms.
Very original and tastefully decorated. The host is very helpful and friendly. No
Receptionist was endearing and very helpful.Bar was homely. We arrived to the restaurant exactly 2mins after 9:30 (restaurant closing time) on a saturday night, and we were not served dinner despite the fact that at least 3 other tables were still having their starters (and the fact that the hostess herself told us that no other place would be available for dinner in Keflavyk). This is not the experience I would expect from such a hotel.
Close to airport.
Quality of food in the restaurant, cleanliness of room, ambiente of room None
Very convenient for the airport. Hote; a bit "tired". Food very average and dull. Last time I stayed in a similar priced hotel in Reykjavik which was in the town centre and had great food. I should have done the same this time obviously.
Its location near to the airport Relatively high price for the services offered, reception staff was rather blunt
The hotel hosts were wonderful people, warm and welcoming. They made a great dinner suggestion for us and even phoned in the reservation, which was so nice after our long travel day. The beds were comfy and rooms very clean. We couldn't have been happier.
The space was perfect for our last night in Iceland. We hit some bumps in the road with previous lodging on our trip, which is to be expected; however, it was quite relieving to walk into Bergas Guesthouse and be greeted with a friendly face and such attention to detail. The check-in process was the smoothest we experienced, our room was prepared and ready for us to walk in and fall into very comfortable beds to rest. We booked here because it was a short drive to the Blue Lagoon and minutes from the airport and we would be visiting both in the following 24 hour period. Perfect location, great price, lovely owners. Wish we could have stayed a little longer to explore the surrounding area and waterfront. I will definitely keep Bergas Guesthouse in mind for future trips.
The owners are very personable and make for a magical experience. The hotel room was delightfully comfortable. We lived it here and will return. Nothing.
Staff picked us up at airport without a hitch. Gave us towels and ride to from Blue Lagoon, although it is close enough to walk. Front desk arranged a Golden Circle tour with pick up at hotel and drop off in city. Great service Breakfast buffet a little weak, but hey, they are not big into breakfasts in Iceland
Convenient, quiet, clean, excellent service
Very clean and comfortable! There are kitchen facilities but it seems as if it is not common practice to prepare hot meals or to use the fridge. But we stood only for one night ... so this is only an impression.
Very convenient and economical for Keflavik airport, free shuttle, serve-yourself breakfast, very clean rooms and bathrooms Looks a bit plain from the outside, but homely inside.
* Near by the air-port * friendly staff It would be useful if we could send an e-mail to the hotel, for example if we need to arrange a pick up at the air-port etc. The hotel website did not work properly, their own on-line reservation form was not working, there was no contact detail except a phone number.
very nice little place very convenient for airport and keflavik town. rooms were very clean and i thought great value
very helpful staff picking us up at the airport late at night and offering ride to the car rental the next day for free, localization near the airport, clean rooms, good localization for the first and the last night in Iceland. good price/value rate in comparison to the rest of Iceland. common bathrooms, but that is a standard in Iceland
The shuttle bus service is very effective. Even we took the early morning flight, the owner took us to the airport. The kichen is well equiped and very clean. The room and the bathroom are also tidy up well. The system for the breakfast is " help- yourself" with the foods they prepared and we were satisfied with it for the selection of food. We use them again if we visit the Iceland again. Nothing.
Wery excellent shuttle service to the airport! Two times and it was included in the price!!!
Efficient, clean, close to the international airport. Bananas, bread, milk, tea and coffee, butter and jam for free disposal. Small room, non presence of owner within the building (we only saw them as we got in only)
prompt pick up from and delivery to airport, ample self serve breakfast, even for people with early flights.
I was charged $93 as a single traveler. I had made the reservation thinking the price corresponded to the comfort level. It did not. This is a glorified hostel on the outskirts of town. It is in an old industrial type building away from the center of town. Very noisy with smelly bathrooms. Only 3 bathrooms for quite a lot of rooms... When I brought up booking.com for the date that I was there the price came up for $63. I brought this to the attention of the owner. I was being charged the price for a family room. He said that it was too bad, I had booked at that price. He was quite unfriendly and defensive about the situation. Bottom line: I was overcharged and told 'too bad', it was my fault for booking it at that rate. I travel through Iceland twice a year and have stayed in many guesthouses in Keflevic. I have had very good experiences with all except this one.
Convenient for the airport and Blue Lagoon. Excellent view across the bay. Coffee and basic breakfast available for early flight.
The service at this hotel is just phenomenal! And the rooms and bed was also excellent.
They arranged for breakfast to be ready for us at 5am for our early flight. The street was very busy with cars until the early hours.
convenient for early morning flight as location close to airport Very basic rooms. We were promised early morning coffee before our flight however we never received this and left without a drink! Very thirsty
The hotel is close to the international airport so it makes it easy to catch your flight early in the morning. The staff is welcoming and friendly. The accommodations are comfortable. You will learn about the area, where to go for meals, etc. It is very nice and reasonably priced.
comfortable beds, location, very clean, could get breakfast at 5am for early flight very poor lighting in the room, no hooks to hang clothes in bathroom, tv too high
The rate was acceptable I arrived late night ; had to call the hotel twice to find it ; it was so badly marked and illumintated that you could hardly see it even in front of it ; wake-up call was to late ; no time for breakfast which was hardly ready (6am); no-smoking rome ; when I tried to go out for a smoke all doors where closed and I could not get out (no door keys where given); rooms are clean but verry cold (no atmosphere)although it was heated like a sauna
Breakfast is included en was ok (though we had to ask for it). We had a great view on the ocean. Cleanliness wasn't that good, the shower was leaking and the staff wasn't very eager to help out or to answer questions.
close to the airport. Small but comfortable room. A very early small breakfast available at 4.30 am Ther was no-one at the hotel when we arrived mid-afternoon. We waited for an hour and staff arrived only after I went to the shop next door and they phoned someone for me. To be fair, he was very pleasant.
Convenient, good location close to the airport. Good service.
The hosts were wonderful. They picked us up at the airport late at night and took us directly to the hotel, where they showed us to a lovely, clean room that was tastefully decorated. Our window faced the ocean for a fabulous view, and the owners were incredibly helpful and kind. They made arrangements for us to visit the Blue Lagoon on our way to the airport the following day and made everything very easy for us. The included breakfast was well stocked with fresh food. We would definitely stay there again!
Appreciated the friendly service and the pleasant accommodations and especially the reliable, efficient shuttle to the airport. Not convenient to any selection for evening meal.
Right by the airport with the convenient shuttle to pick you up and drop you off. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was nice and big and very clean. Beds comfortable with nice big comforters. The best was the breakfast, lots of choice (I loved the thin pancakes) and fresh fruit. They even had computers to use in the lounge area and room to play cards or games. Can't think of anything!
Great location for ariport, shuttle service, friendly staff, ex-NATO base building, quiet location Plugs are 110V
friendly and very helpfull hotel staff
Airport pickup, freindly service
We chose the hotel for the location and the shuttle service to the airport for an early flight, the room was spacious and clean, the staff helpful and friendly and the breakfast substantial.
110 volt electric service & convenience to airport. Its name! It is not a "bed & breakfast"! It is a low quality motel room.
The friendly manager was really helpful. The hotel was warm and beds very comfortable. For a 4 bed room, we had loads of space. Transfer to airport at 5am was very efficient. Finding the place was hard, even with a map. The turn off from the main road (41) is not signposted nor are there any road names until into the complex. The buildings are not numbered in order so we had to ask someone for directions.
Good place to stay for a late arrival or early departure, very friendly helpful owners. Nothing to do in the immediate area, but it's really just somewhere to get a good nights sleep
Huge rooms by Icelandic standards. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. All round, probably the best hotel I've stayed in while in Iceland (I've stayed in many) I would absolutely recommend to anybody.
staff very friendly, good breakfast early enough for people catching plains in the morning had to pay 10,- (euro) more than the price quoted when I made the reservation through booking.com when checking out. Also very noisy during the night
Due to a mixup our reservations were never entered into the logbook and when we arrived there were no rooms available. They did however find a different guesthouse for us.
We have been very confortable in the hotel and the breakfast is excelent, may be one of the best in Iceland.
ourflight was delayed so we arrived at &am intead of 3am. And we found that they had already soldour room to other guests!
Very good locaion near Keflavic Airport. Very good breakfast. Helpfull staff. The rooms are basic but clean. A kitchen is available. Our room had no plug but there are some in the kitchen. Can be noisy if guests are not carefull.
The early morning buffet before travelling to the airport.
Good price, clean room, very good breakfast
Proximity to airport, comfortable room, great breakfast. There was confusion concerning the free ride back to the airport as advertised on the hotel website, which is inconvenient for the last day of a stay in Iceland, when one does not want to take Icelandic money back home.
Upgrade to Hotel Keflavik across the street. Wonderful staff, excellent breakfast.
We were upgraded on both of our stays to the main hotel, the room was very comfortable and the food was excellent.
We got to stay in the hotel because the guesthouse was full. So we had a luxureous room, for a low price. There was a minibar, but it was empty. We didn't mind because we wouldn't have one in the guesthouse...
This guesthouse is a couple of minutes from the airport. The owners are friendly, helpful, and accessible. The house has three separate bedrooms with a shared hallway bath. The room we were in is a spacious one bedroom with a private bath. It has a full kitchen and a stocked for breakfast. It is in a quiet neighborhood, but within one block of all of the small-town offerings. The guesthouse is under 45 minutes from Reykjavic and about 20 minutes from the blue Lagoon. It is all good
Customer Service was great!
It is close to the airport. I was able to play tourist in the morning before flying out in the afternoon.
Friendly staff, not many other guests. Hot tub + sauna are nice, especially without other guests around. Views from room where average, nothing special. No hot breakfast (besides toast).
Breakfast was nice, very close to sadcars
The hotel location to blue lagoon and KEF airport were great. was clean, friendly staff, breakfast was descent. The noise in the hotel carried - and wasn't good for a light sleeper to get a good night sleep.
Everything was so nice, very clean and incredible staff that was very willing to help. They had a nice breakfast spread in the mornings, and kept the place spotless. Definitely recommend!
The hotel cost is very reasonable given the facilities. Room was clean and large enough, bed comfortable, and the room had useful amenities such as desk, comfortable chair, toilet and shower. I took advantage of the sauna and jacuzzi, which were nice but nothing exceptional. They also have fairly nice exercise equipment. However, it really is located in the middle of nowhere with nothing else to do in the immediate facility (except go for a walk, but not what I consider a scenic view). it seemed quite costly to take a taxi between the airport and hotel. Cost of the two taxi rides was about the same as the price of the hotel. Cheaper than staying at Hotel Smari at the KEF airport, but I was surprised by the transportation costs.
Liked the straight forward approach to accomodation in an expensive area of Iceland. Has everything you need. You can really hear the aeroplanes take off. - unless you're really tired.
it was close by, clean, reasonably priced, friendly staff; it was perfect for a long layover of my flight nope
We stayed for one night in one of Motel Alex's separate wooden cabins and we thought it was great! Well equipped and comfortable. We were on our way to the airport the next day so it was also a great location. The exterior of the motel does look a bit like an out of town garden centre, it isn't that pretty! But that's minor really.
It's really cosy. The motel is really near the airport but due to the fact that not many planes arrive and land there, you don't notice them. When you arrrive sometimes it's a little bit difficult to talk to the car driver to pick you up because he/she doesn't answer.
Ease. Close to the airport and car hire collection.
The shuttle service from the local airport was appreciated, as well as the provision of early breakfast before 6h AM.
Perfect as a stop-off before / after a flight, very close to the airport, very reasonably priced, surprisingly lovely little cabins. Only minor complaint was that our cabin was like a sauna, and we couldn't find the controls to turn the radiators down!
Close to the airport (big seller) and free transportation to and from the airport. I had to wait for about 15 minutes for them to take me from the airport...but on the positive side, it was past 12 midnight and they had other groups they were having to take. I also had lost luggage so I was able to catch one of their shuttles back to the airport in the morning to find and pick up my luggage. Not really, but it is very simple accomodations. They did assign me a one room cottage.
Excellent location close to the airport, very convenient when getting an early morning flight. Cabins are in excellent conditions with all modern comfort at a great price, would defintely return. Good service and helpful staff.
The staff was super helpful, when I had a problem with a WLAN connection for example they actually called a 'friend' who came and fixed the thingy.. (its just an example) and the motel itself is like 5 minutes away from the airport. The shower in the house had 2 possibilitis to setup: Burning hot and Ice Cold..
Great location for getting to the airport. The gentleman running it was very nice. Had a spacious bathroom and comfortable bed. Didn't get a chance to experience the breakfast, unfortunately. It was all very good. Typical of all Europe, the only bed covering was a duvet, which was too warm for me traveling in the summer, but that's to be expected.
super clean, super comfortable. Breakfast was simple but delicious, and the host and hostess were both helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay. googlemaps got us on to the right street but told us to turn onto it in the wrong direction. We eventually tracked it down
I liked the large shower and good internet.
Had a 18 hour layover in Iceland and stayed at Fit for a place to get a few hours sleep and it was a short walk from the airport (maybe 1 hour/3.5miles/7km) The bed was comfortable, the manager was friendly, the shower had hot water and the facitilities were clean. The building is old and a bit worn and the area of town is more industrial, but it's only a short distance to a few restaurants and the shore. It was the least expensive place that I found (Iceland was very expensive overall) and was a good deal for the price. I would stay there again and would recommend it. The bedding and pillows could be replaced. I don't mind things being old or worn, but they were noticeably stained. Wi-fi signal didn't extend much past the reception desk, but that was not a big deal.
It was clean, big, super friendly and helpful at 12 am, and really close to the airport. Perfect for late flights!
The facility was well kept and clean. The breakfast selection.
Lovely people who ran the hotel - they made us very comfortable and were very helpful with information.
Beds were comfortable, room and bathroom were clean. Free tea/coffee 24/7 was a big perk. Very close to airport, stable wi-fi and free parking. It was difficult to find, my GPS didn't register the hostel address as a real place so I had to use a map to find it.
The Start hostel was clean, comfortable, rooms were generous and beds very comfortable. The breakfast was varied and delicious, and they start it at 4:30 to accommodate early flights. I booked this last minute to accommodate a 10 hour layover, and it was a great choice. The staff checked me in late (just after midnight) arranged my cab and provided a yummy breakfast. I would consider staying here if I did a layover in Iceland in the future. It was a little further out than I liked - cabs cost almost as much as the hostel bed. But Iceland is expensive and this is minor. It is also expensive for a hostel bed. But it was toward the low end of the options, so this may just be a complaint that Iceland is expensive.
