The staff were really helpful no problems
Location and tired but grand decor Evening meals were not in keeping with the traditional ambiance of the place (we ate elsewhere)
excellent value good breakfast, and room was clean and warm with plenty of hot water
The staff were were nice, breakfast good but limited, even if the order was wrong both days. The bar is simple but nice. Lobby is nice. Car parking available the entrance from the car park is poor/smells. The rooms and bathrooms are very out of date. Corridors and staircases are very rough and need painting at the very least. The hotel lift is very poor, with graffiti inside
The best part of the trip was the staff at the hotel and all the 3 bars/pubs in the town we visited. The quietness of hotel and all visiters. ?We would recommend y not as a place to drink and relax weekday nights but weekends little louder for young local custom the hotel bar at weekends was quietest, otherwise Wick's WeatherSpoon restaurant and bar is mostly recommened. At no fault of anyones, all sight seeing attractions where closed. lack of choice for places to eat locally, due to both of these spent long week end in Wick and as not keen on drink driving never drunk at dinner.
Convenience. Also, I left my Mobile Phone charger behind - I telephoned and advised them. They found it and sent it to my home. One window (sash type) was jammed open and the room was noisy
able to smoke in room too many local youths in hotel bar
Leaving and not having booked a second night! The hotel is very, very old and subsequently very rambling in layout, the heating was faulty, beds were uncomfortable and the most unhygenic breakfast table, linnen and cutlery, I have ever witnessed in a hotel.
Clean and tidy Coombed ceiling - we both well above average height
Good situation. Handy for ferry. Good introduction to the hotel on arrival. Bedroom might benefit from dehumidifier.
Very convenient for Gills Bay-St Margeret Hope, Orkney ferry crossing
Excellent staff the evening meal and breakfast were excellent Stayed in annexe...room needs upgrade....did not use shower it "looked very tired "
Electric Blanket for heating during the night No heating, no hot water other than in the shower, room smelt of dogs
Good base for exploring remote Scotland
The people were very friendly and helpful. I thought it was very expensive--probably the most we paid of all the hotels we stayed in.
Staff were very friendly. Food was pleasant "pub grub" and good value for money Although the room and bedding was clean, it smelled of damp and was quite cold, despite the radiator and the electric blankets. The bed itself was not damp, but there was an overall smell of damp in the room. That said, I don't know if it was just this one room that smelled damp.
Excellent food. Good, friendly family run hotel. None
A real pleasure to stay here. Owners were on the scene and involved . Outstanding hospitality
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food in the Upper Deck restaurant was brilliant. We would definitely stay at the Ferry Inn again. The only drawback was walking outside to go for meals - it was lovely weather when we were there so it wasn't a problem but might not be good on a rainy day!
Friendly restaurant manager Had to go into building next door for breakfast and also to check out. Meals in restaurant were quite expensive for what they were (bar food)
Nice location, Clean good sized room and good value with breakfast No.
Hotel was excellent. Reception was very good especially as they had no knowledge of our booking, but they sorted out a room for us.
The room had all facilities in good condition. It faced the harbour giving a good view.
I thought the hotel had recently been renovated as everything was clean & spotless. Was definately value for what we paid for Bed & Breakfast. Only down point was you had to go next door to have breakfast which could be a problem in winter.
Comfortable modern beds, furnishings etc and good breakfast options Wifi not working and no one to assist as no one in office outside business hours
Well decorated, comfortable accommodation. Friendly helpful staff. Good food. None
Lovely staff and a fantastic position on the north coast. Just a hop away from John o groats and other attractions.
Rooms clean, not cluttered. Overall everything you needed without over doing it Staff were friendly, english was not a first language in the restaurant but they managed basic conversation. There were two foreign bus tours that passed through and their languages proved beneficial in light of this.
Very Clean & Well Appointed
Ground floor accomodation, easy to let dog out. Beds firm. Early evening meal Only bad point was undercooked fruit crumble at evening meal
Nice rooms, good bar/reception area with great photos displayed; quiet area in town; helpful staff. Did not accept my Amex card despite displaying the Amex logo.
All off above Run out of bacardi should have noticed it
Staff were friendly and very helpful Shower door was difficult for me to go through - I have greater than a 50 inch waist.
Very warm welcome, lovely room, staff friendly. Food was very good. Good central location,
Nice clean well equiped room, good shower.I Even had a desk in my room and there was a wifi connection that worked well. Dinner could have been a bit warmer (I like my hot food to be hot).
Excellent location and staff in dining room friendly. Room was spacious enough and clean however bed was far too hard for our liking - hardest mattress we perhaps have ever encountered in a hotel anywhere!
Clean bright and secure room. All equipmenrt and fittings worked. Poorly cooked breakfast with virtually raw eggs and bacon.
Excellent bathroom. Food very good.
Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast Shower could have been more powerfull
Restaurant was good. I couldn't use my international phone card in the room without incurring exhorbitant costs. This seems to be common in Scottish hotels as they charge by the minute. I used the pay phone in the lobby instead.
Very convenient, clean and warm. Good breakfast. More than adequate for an overnight stay.
Good selection of beers Food
The friendly and helpful staff , the location of the hotel and the disabled facilities available Ther was nothing we disliked about our stay in this hotel
Very clean with very friendly & helpful staff. Food excellent & good value. None
Very clean, comfortable accommodation, big shower enclosure Was rather expensive for level of equipment, rather small bathroom bashed elbows on wall when trying to dry oneself after a shower
Good service .Excellent food. No hot water in room 1st morning.Had to pay £82 per night when same dates were advertised in website at £70. Our room at the back of hotel had no outlook whatsoever.
Easy to find, car parking spaces, good breakfast. At £88 for the night, it was over-priced for the compact room and service. More a 'traveller motel' than a luxury hotel, in my opinion. We opted for an evening meal but had to leave since nobody came to serve us. Overall, I would say £50 would be a fairer price for the comfort and service, but there are so few alternatives in Thurso.
the staff at the Hotel were all first class. The lodges were clean and comfortable and the food in the restaurant was fantastic. We would definitely recommend it people. No complaints.
Bed linen clean, breakfast food very good. The lodge was very dilapidated, filthy carpets, wardrobe door would not open on one side, etc. Dining Room, couch with broken legs, interior window sills thick with dust and cobwebs, carpet required hoovering.
Location was good, and cleanliness was ok. If cleanliness was a slightly lower standard than it was, I would've spent the night in my car. I stayed in the lodges and would not have stayed there more than a night and only stayed because I had nowhere else to stay. Very drab more like a hut the carpet was disgusting but rest of the room was clean but very dated and there was a horrible fusty smell. Rooms could do with a new carpets, brighter wallpaper and bathrooms.
Food in hotel was good. Close to ferry terminal Dissapointed with the accomodation the lodges I feel are past thier working life . the one we stayed in had been broken into at some stage which did not inspire confidence and the room smelt strongly of stale tobbaco and the carpet and headboard were filthy
Food excellent Lodges clean but on the small side Lodges need updating. Looking Tired
It was fine - though the floor did bounce around lot and I worried about the room below. Rather dull - very brown decor.
Nothing it was very dirty the shallies i would not put my dog in there to stay. Everything would rate them a 0
Breakfast and view from restaurant Lodge room was freezing and if honest, aged, tatty and flimsy
having fridge and microwave old fashined furniture and bed sheets.
First room allocated had a broken foot on the bed. Re-allocated straight away
Location Poor attitude of staff in dealing with problems . Room smelt musty. Heating in room not working. Shower very small, slippery surface. Reception, bell broken, no staff who knew check in procedure available. Corridors etc very tired looking.
Centrally located and reasonably good value.
Nice room, very well layed out. Great breakfast. Easy walking to the town centre. Can't boil the kettle and watch TV at the same time. No lift to rooms. Small car park.
in the center of the town no elevator; insuficient parking (only for 4 cars ); price; nocturn enviroment
The lady on duty in the kitchen when I went for my breakfast was very healpful and pleasant Having to wait for someone to book me in (pressed bell 3 times) ? if it works. Also after having a very log journey and being very tired it would have been nice for the gentleman on reception to give me a hand with my bag.
Reasonable breakfast, restaurannt. Close to everything. Good shower Very noisy. The room was above the bar and music, noise from the bar continued till midnight making it impossible to get a restful nights sleep. We were very disappointed.
