Pros: Nice room, the facilities looked good but I was the only guest, it was deserted
Cons: The remote locations. It was a 2 hour drive along dirt/gravel tracks which I wasn't expecting. I stayed for 2hrs then headed back to civilisation as I did not feel safe being alone in such a remote location
Pros: We were so surprised to hear we had been upgraded to a luxury cottage as it was my husband's 60th
Pros: The people the accommodation. The entertainment everything made use feel at home. I will recommend it to anybody. And best of all the food was awesome. Thanks alot see you guys soon
Cons: My stay was to short
Pros: The accommodation was very comfortable in rustic setting. Staff was very friendly.
Cons: 23 km of unexpected sand road to and from lodge. Also quite far walk to the beach.
Pros: Everything about this place is just stunning. Lovely staff, great walks and activities on site, gorgeous beach. Well worth the bumpy drive to get there! Just wish we had more than one night there!
Pros: Nature, activities
Cons: Long way to arrive
Pros: The beauty by the sea. Excellent staff, beautiful beaches, simple with lots of taste,
Pros: B E A U T I F U L N O W O R D S T H A N K YO U
Cons: N O T H I N G S
Pros: The activities and the cooking lady.. she’s amazing.. the horse ride with Jerome.. the pool..
Cons: The smell in the room and that there is no dehumidifier in the bathroom..
Situated on the Garden Route, the Beach Lodge offers spacious rooms with private balconies overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. It has a bar with a large deck where whales can be spotted in season. Each of the rooms is large and bright and many contain a seating area with a sofa bed and tea/coffee facilities. The private bathrooms contain bath tubs. Free Wi-Fi is available. Home-made meals are served in the large dining room at Oyster Bay Beach Lodge which, is built out of pine with a thatched roof. Oyster Bay has many walks which are accessible from the lodge. Guests can swim, sunbathe or fish on the golden beach, only a 2-minutes’ walk from the rooms. Along the Eastern Cape, Cape St Francis and Humansdorp are a 40-minute drive away. Free private parking is available.
Pros: Amazing view from room, breathtaking beach and boardwalk right next to the place, friendly owner, sweet dogs and cats. Batter, the dog is so special and showed us the ways the walk!
Pros: The owner was very friendly, and nice to have a chat with. All other guests were very open and it was nice to all have dinner together. The scenery is beautiful, set front row to the beach. The beach of Oyster bay is long and wide, as well as very empty and therefore really nice to relax.
Cons: The town/village of Oyster Bay can only be reached through a gravel road of 40-50min car ride. With a normal sedan (no SUV) the ride is quite bumpy and at times you'd think your car falls apart. Unfortunately Oyster Bay has no restaurants. With that and the gravel road, there is no other choice than to have dinner at the Oyster Bay Beach Lodge. The owner cooks decently, so that is good. Nevertheless you'll have to know that there are three dogs and two cats with the owner. We love animals and all of them are cute and adorable. Still, we dislike that the animals are not restricted to certain areas and even walk on the dining tables and on the kitchen countertops. We don't find this very hygenic. Rooms are rather old, also not very clean (e.g. stains in bedsheets).
Pros: Nick has been an incredible host! The location is just perfect! Highly recommend!
Pros: Nick is a wonderful host and a great source of information about the region and South Africa (in fact, all of southern Africa). The views are to die for and the location can not be beat. The air was so fresh and the breezes just delightful. The terrace, where you can have an evening drink, was just perfect. It is hard to find a nicer beach and Oyster Bay Beach Lodge is just the perfect place to enjoy it from
Cons: The room has a bathroom that is kind of like part of the room, only separated by a partial wall. This is not unusual in South Africa but I still prefer bathrooms with doors. The ocean is so close, it roars through the night- which may bother some people.... for me, that was an added bonus
Pros: Wonderful place to relax and rest. Great food and a spectacular view. Friendly staff !!
Pros: Such a welcoming host and enjoyable breakfasts and dinners. Awesome view of the sea. Nice walks to do. A really pleasant place to stay. We would highly recommend it!
Pros: Nick the host was most welcoming friendly and knowledgable. We had several interesting conversations. Basil the dog was also good company on long walks along the beach.
Cons: The long unmade road into Oyster bay is a bit of a challenge in a small hatchback.
Pros: Amazing view. Nick is a wonderful, helpful host!!!
Pros: Great place away from it all. Great food as allways by Nick and a wonderful host with many a tale! The most amazing beach with no one on it.
When you stay at Ripple Hill Hotel in Patensie, you'll be 32.1 mi (51.7 km) from Fountains Mall. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, dry cleaning/laundry services, and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Very comfy beds, aircon and treat, nice bar and restaurant facility. Lovely old decor with modern touches, awesome that it's pet friendly, staff friendly
Cons: Need breakfast on Sunday,
Pros: The stoep!
Cons: The army of mozzies...they outwitted the anti mozzie plug! Brekky could be a little more exciting.
Pros: Everything was good!!
Cons: Everything was good !
Pros: It is a real old world hotel. Beautifully maintained. Lovely atmosphere
Pros: Quaint village hotel feel. We wouldn't want to stay for more than 1 night though. Restaurant on the property served an excellent steak, ribs and pizza.!! We were pleasantly surprised. Rooms were simple, neat and clean.
Cons: Walls in the hotel rooms quite thin, so we would hear all the other patrons going in/out of the communal bathrooms/toilets etc. Luckily we had en-suite bathrooms. I thought our kids would be placed in an adjoining room, but they were placed a few rooms away from us, so I wasn't so excited about that.
Pros: Quaint, The Chef is very good.
Cons: No breakfast. No reception manager on Sunday. Nowhere to eat dinner in Patensie on Sunday after 17,00. What does a tourist do?
Pros: The rooms were well appointed with what would appear recent renovations.
Cons: Location. Near a market/shebeen with noisy crowds and litter everywhere. The cleaner/ receptionist/restaurant waitron met us with no formalities done nor any attention. Meal took ages to prepare despite only 4 tables occupied! Steak and chips took over an hour to present. Cleaner/receptionist/waitron was overwhelmed and we needed to find her for more drinks! Eish!!
Pros: Fair nothing exceptional
Cons: The kitchen staff could not add my dinner to the hotel bill. They did not have a check out counter so they could not accept payment when you leave for the dinner I had. The breakfast was ordered the previous day and they forgot to add the sausage I requested. The beacon was very little, eggs were not soft as requested. After dinner one of the staff came to my room to request that I pay NOW for my dinner as if I would not have paid. This is when I found out that they do not have a reception desk for check out. I waited after dinner for about 5-10 minutes for someone to bring bill to sign it to my room. Nothing happened so I left and assumed that they would add the bill so I can pay at checkout.
Pros: Rooms were clean and it met our needs for the one night that we stayed.
Cons: Towels in the bedrooms were terrible, and the shower leaked which resulted in a sopping wet floor The location is not great. Ordering breakfast the night before is a rather strange, and when it arrived it was just ok. The bread was barely toasted
Pros: Breakfast accommodated for halaal catering, which was a greatly appreciated.
Cons: No TV in the room
Baviaanskloof Lodge- Country House is located in Patensie. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available on request), and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Location to the Baviaanskloof Nature Reserve. Owners and staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Good home cooked food.
Pros: Breakfast and supper were both great - the staff member who cooked for us and served us was very friendly and did a good job
Cons: there was nothing obvious - it s not particularly modern but we accepted it was an old country lodge and as such there was nothing to complain about
Pros: good food and excellent friendly service Maxie our hostess set us on exactly the right track when we all realised that the day's outing originally proposed was not appropriate as we had driven through Baviaanskloof the day of our arrival. She sent us on a excellent walk direct from the house with a wonderful prize when we reached the peak. Stunning and on the farm.
Cons: The loo seat fell when lifted unless held
Pros: Hosts were awesome. Great Value for Money. Dinner was yummy. An authentic farm stay. Loved the modern touches / surprises. Well stocked honesty bar. Great insider info about the Reserve. Ideal for a quick afternoon drive into the reserve & back to the lodge.
Pros: Well located for a stop-over before entering the Baviaanskloof Nature Reserve from the Patensie side. We stopped over for 2 nights on our way out of the Reserve, having entered from Willowmore. Breakfast and dinner included is a necessity, as there are no restaurants nearby. The meals were home-style, very good and appreciated by all in our group. There is a hiking trail nearby, which we did not do, having already done trails in the Baviaanskloof on previous days. It was our intention to relax at the lodge for a 'day off' on our way out of the reserve.
Cons: The better rooms were already booked, so we had the two rooms which had not yet received a 'make-over'. There was no towel rail or towel hooks in one of our rooms - we were advised that the owners were aware of it and it was on the 'list to do'. The lodge is an ordinary converted house, and the air-conditioned lounge is quite small. Our group of 4 filled the living room seating area, and guests who arrived later had no choice but to sit outside in 40 degree heat - there was a little shade, but a lapa would be nice. The house is not conducive for a relaxing day of leisure, I would recommend it a stop-over unless wanting to go into the reserve for a day trip and return, or wishing to take up a day to do the hiking trail.
Pros: We were only there for the night and it was the best location for our trip into the Baviaanskloof Wilderness.
Cons: We had stayed there before so knew what to expect.
Pros: Awesome food, great people.
Pros: Location to start a trip through Baviaanskloof. Location is remote, so having dinner and breakfast available was important. Food was good.
Cons: It would be nice to have a pool and an outside relaxing area, such as a lapa. Really just a house, not a lodge.
Pros: Great location if driving into Baviaanskloof. Very friendly owners. Superb food. Very quiet and beautiful. Since there are no restaurants closeby, it is good that dinner and breakfast are sold together with the room.
Pros: Great stopover point. Very hospitable people and gave us a lot of very good information for the area.
