Clean, tidy, good parking fcilities and nice staff. None
Good friendly staff, location to the north west, breakfast was ok but a bit pricey. The room we had was spacious and clean, wish i,d known there would be no toiletries tho,. They charged me more than the price expected and shown on my booking.com form but I had forgotten this so had to pay the higher price.
Ease of access to motorway Eating facilities for dinner was very poor
It was quiet and just off the motorway with services on site Room heaters are dated and unreliable
I like the fact that you are promised a good night's sleep or your money back so i knew we were going to have a peaceful night which is very good when your travelling with a young child. The location was easy to find and we had a good breakfast. The facilities were excellent too. No Complaints!
Clean and friendly No internet in the hotel
Excellent staff service
The staff were very helpfull Beds were very unconfortable and my Girlfirend couldn't use the shower/bath allthough we we're in the disabled room
both luxury of room and wonderful meal a little expensive but not too bad
The quirkiness of the room Having to pay for breakfast on top of pricey room. We needed early breakfast so we could leave at 8am and this could not be accomadated. Earliest they could do was 8am - bit dissapointed about this as is was a birthday treat for my partner,
The design, layout, quality and fixtures in the room and venue too. The dim lighting within the whole venue. More light is needed espescially over mirrors (for ladies applying makeup).
Lovely room with twin baths and very comfy bed. Staff very pleasant. My dinner in the restaurant was the smallest main course I have ever been served . It was appalling, I would not have the nerve to send something out so small if I were a chef-not good value for money . At a guess, I would say they are using one fish to get 4-6 portions. I didn't want to make a fuss and complain on the night as it was our wedding anniversary! I do feel that for the price of the room that breakfast should be included. We realised that it was not but because we wanted to stay at that hotel we decided to book anyway.
The central position / excellent shower No wardrobe
It was convenient and the staff very pleasant. Nice hotel. Our room was rather cold (No. 11) as one of the radiators was not working and the other required bleeding to ensure it was working to full capacity. Remote control for TV went walkabout, otherwise everything was fine.
The staff were excellent - very friendly and helpful. And the rooms were basic, but had everything you needed.
convenient location, good shower, friendly staff breakfast could have been better, not hot enough
Very helpful receptionist.
Clean, Friendly, and the food was good no
clean room and good location there was a strong smell of paint on landing made worse by heating being on full wack which made my asthma bad & the beds were very old and uncomfortable both me & my partner did not sleep well and ached in the morning.
The hotel was within walking distance of the Railway Sation and town. I was diappointed that the door handle had only half of the screws to ensure it remained in place. The walls were very thin, and I could hear the other occupants in rooms several doors away. One of the lights above the bed did not work..so felt there was poor attention to detail. Otherwise, the hotel was fine.
Comfort, space in room, provision of baby facilities, provision of tea/coffee making facilities, situation of the hotel, quality of breakfast Quality and price of evening meals, we felt the food was overpriced, overcooked and did not enjoy the quality of it.
the staff very friendly and was local to the shops, enjoyed my stay
very close to chester city centre, plenty of parking spaces and helpfull staff.
Easy to find, couple of miles out the centre, free car parking No draught beers, bar prices extortinate £5.00 tv did not work properly Poor breakfast
The room was comfortable & the breakfast was very good. We were in an attic room with a sloping roof which made the bathroom slightly difficult to use.
The location was in walking distance of town and not expensive by taxi. The room was tidy and clean. Lots of bed covers due to heating going off. Good breakfast for little money and service good. It was cold the heating only came on in the morning and afternoon it was cold duing the day. It was cold in the breakfast area.
Delightful staff, nice lounge & bar areas, exceptionally clean, excellent breakfast. Single room was definitely on the small side, but bathroom was spacious.
Its proximity to Chester city Having lived on the continent for many years I found that a continental breakfast didn't only consist of cereals, grapefruit, yoghout and toast, it also consists of cheeses, meats, cold boiled eggs etc.
A warm welcome greeted us upon arrival. We had two rooms one in each courtyard which were very good - one was a bit small with not much storage but ok for the few days of our stay. The second room (twin) was excellent. Both had all the facilities you would expect. Breakfast (continental) was adequate, however you could pay extra for cooked. Hotel in pleasant surroundings but more than the 15 minute walk into Chester that we were advised. During our stay the bar wasn't particularly well stocked with cask beers and lagers not available (run out).
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We arrived some two hours before book in, they let us leave the car at the hotel and even gave us a map of Chester with directions of the best way to get in to the city centre. Our room was very clean and cosy. Would use this hotel again. Room was a little on the small side, but as their was only two of us and we did not spend time in the room other than to sleep it wasn't really a problem for us. The friendly atmosphere and spotlessly clean hotel more than made up for the room size.
The staff were very welcoming and friendly. They accommodated our needs. The room in which we stayed was not like the ones shown on the website which was the main reason I booked in the first place. This was quite disappointing. However the overall stay was ok.
The staff were friendly and the room was lovely We were in an outside room and it was cold during the night when the heating had gone off but it was the first really cold night of the year so far and that won't have helped !
The hotel was good value for the money, about 20 min. walk from the town centre, bus into town was also available. Ample parking. Spacious accommodation
This is a lovely hotel whose rooms are both attractive and practical. The breakfast was outstanding as was the conservatory in which it is served. The local bus services are spotty and complex due to multiple companies and stops. Fortunately taxis are cheap.
thought there may have been a bigger selection of hot food on breakfast buffet
The bar was nice and had a good atmosphere, and plenty of different beers to choose from. Very comfortable, and nice pool etc for relaxing. We stayed on a Friday night so the restaurant was closed which limited the eating options. We didn't want to have a dinner/dance, I get ill on boats, the pizza place was only for snacks and the bar was full, so we ended up having to eat in town.
fantastic restaurant and entertainment bedrooms a little dated but still an enjoyable stay
The Staff were very obliging and the restaurant service was excelent Lack of lounge facilities. During our pre-dinner drinks, We were asked to leave the residents lounge early Saturday evening due to it being reserved for the boat party. The other small lounge near reception was very crowded as was the bar area/football lounge
Excellent position for access to the city centre. Super leisure facilities.Excellent staff very friendly. Nice meals. Surprised that it is only 3 star deserves more. We were upgraded to a higher level room on arrival. Nothing
the temperature in the spa/swimming pool was too cold.
The canal cruise, the spa. Noise from traffic, no air conditioning
Located close to the city centre, friendly staff and nice pool. The breakfast was also quite good, and the room was spacious and comfortable. We had a room on the side of the hotel facing the dual carriageway and it was quite noisy.
Very close to the city centre and all shops and amenities. Hotel pool and spa was extremely relaxing. Hotel very clean and was really pleased with the free upgrade for our wedding anniversary. Would definitely stay again.
i didnt like the fact that there was no air conditioning. the heat was overpowering and the rooms were too hot and stuffy to be comfortable
pleasant surroundings.nice staff breakfast was on small size, any no variation from day to day.
Very friendly staff, very clean rooms, not too far to walk into town so we didn't have to pay car park charges. We thought it badly needed decorating. Paintwork was shabby. Would improve hotel greatly if painted.
Confortable bed! Room adequate for our two day stay to visit the city and nearby Rhyl. Christmas market was an attraction. Nothing to dislike. Breakfast a bit cold on first day but fine next day.
Friendly staff Just distance quoted
The location is brilliant just 10mins walk from the centre ..the staff are fantastic nothing is too much trouble
the atmosphere was relaxing, a real British experience
good location 10min walk to center of chester, pleasant helpful staff ,well done
Pleasant welcome, good food. Bedrooms were subject to considerable floor noise from guests moving around above. More than I have ever experienced. No toiletries in bathroom.
Friendly staff, comfortable seating areas, really comfortable bed. evening menu
Ideal location for Chester CIty, car parking very convenient but limited. Room was very dated, wifi not working in room and considering my room was on the top floor, was told it was the best location for access ! TV signal was also quite poor and picture froze a number of times
Facilities were superb, staff were excellent. Food was slightly pricey and the coffee at the end never turned up!!
relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, nice hotel. maybe room could have been slightly larger.
The staff where all very friendly, the food was fab, can't wait to go back! Facilities where good but no much information about it, I had to ask a few questions about different things as information was not available, made me feel a bit awkward to be honest!
Lovely setting. Very comfortable rooms, plus great spa facilities with fantastic showers! Initially we had a problem because the patio doors on our room wouldn't lock but this was sorted out quite quickly and we found the staff really friendly and helpful. Our key-card appeared wiped every day, so we had to get reception to re-set it for us nearly every time we tried to get into our room. This might have been a security precaution because there was a wedding going on, but it meant going back to reception each time we wanted just to get into our room. However, it was always dealt with quickly, and didn't detract from our enjoyment, but it might prove more trying for older visitors.
I really enjoyed my time at Rowton Hall, although the Breakfast was very expensive and the room was not up to the standared of other hotels I have stayed in. Also I was unable to have the room any earlier than 3 even though I was coming to a wedding their.
hotel restaurant food very overpriced and certainly not value for money
good food room too small
The hotel room / suite was fantastic. It was very close to the centre of Chester and ideal for all the local attractions
A large comfortable room with large bathroom
Staff were very friendly and co-operative. the conference facilities were attractive and well managed My sleep was disturbed several times during the night: I was woken three times by noise outside the corridor in the late/early hours, and once in the night by heavy footsteps overhead. I was then unable to sleep from 6am-7am due to continuous heavy footsteps overhead. the acoustics really need to be reviewed and corrected, with adequate door seals and impact absorbing acoustic treatment to the upstairs floors. sleep is your core business.
I thoroughly enjoyed the pool ,steam room etc didnt have time to use the gym but looked very good. Cleanliness perfect ,I am fussy about hotels but ticked the right boxes Drinks were rather expensive even by hotel standards but captive audience
Very attentive staff, nothing too much trouble
nice friendly staff, very clean, good location a few more signs up telling you where things are
Excellent facilities and accomodation, good location. Compared to all other aspects of the hotel, the breakfast was poor. Food was obviously left out for a long time and had deteriorated.
Friendly Staff and Atmosphere, Good Food and spacious bedroom with comfortable mattress. Struggling to keep hotel warm during cold snap.
The hotel itself was excellent, we could stay there again. I enjoyed using the facilities of the leisure centre. Dining was elegant. There was a family with young children above us, i could hear them running about.
The rooms were very clean and comfortable and I can highly recomend the fod from the bar area. Only problem we found was the main restaurant was not fantastic ,the food was average but the bar food was execllent.
everything at the hotel was excellent but the best thing was the friendliness and efficiency of all staff from check in to check out. I was at the hotel for a family wedding and all staff were very helpful ensuring that all ran smoothly. Absolutely no complaints
Friendly helpfull staff nice standard of hotel
Very helpful and pleasant staff, very clean room and comfy bed, also very convenient for town centre. The lift was always accessible and security was good. Car parking can be a problem 6 days a week between 10 am and 6 pm. although I beleive there are 14 car parking spaces at the rear of hotel, if you can get one.
the friendly helpful staff the bath hand rail was hanging off and could have been quite dangerous
All the staff excellent and helpfull, Denise very good. Friday evening £21 meal - deal good value, ass manager dinning excellent A great two days I booked 4 rooms all eight of us thought the hotel excellent NO COMPLAINTS
Good central position. Well trained, efficient and friendly staff. Limited parking
The reception staff were especially friendly, helpful and knowledgable They knew Chester well recommeding somewhere to eat when we asked and supplied with a taxi number.
They gave us a disabled room for the floor space as we had 2 children with us both needing cots They didn't have our booking made on this site. There is parking for about 10 cars and the fire alarm went off just after we got the kids to sleep and we had to stand outside for half an hour in the cold. Not the hotels fault but still annoying!
The friendliness of the staff, the location of the hotel, the breakfast was excellent, it had a restaurant on site for lunch/evening meals and a bar if you needed it everyone was very helpful.
Good location and comfortable
its location easy access to station and city centre. and facility is clean and new. breakfast start time is not convinient in weekend(from 8:00). due to train schedule i gave up having breakfast.
An excellent stay, with friendly staff! Only problem we had was that the website we used made a mistake with our room booking. The staff at the Premier sorted this quickly and efficently and advised us to book directly through there website in future to save any mistakes!
old world charm. we booked the 4 poster room which was very good. food was only ok. could have been better.
the location and the shower the missing remote, the lack of hairdryer and shocking breakfast.
The staff were fantastic especially Luke the manage,r food was excellent, the beds very comfortable had a great time and will go back soon No it was fantastic
Evening food value, and good rage of Real Ales Poor service at breakfast.
friendly staff we had lunch there and was very good breakfast was poor , and we had to wait 30 minutes to be served
a lovely traditional pub, and the staff were all very friendly - the food in the restaurant was excellent. The room was a bit lopsided but to be honest it added to the charm of the place so we actually quite liked it.
The atmosphere in the public bar and the cleanliness of the room the mattresses were very uncomfortable, we had to use the bed covers to stop the springs attacking us!
City center location is ideal for shops, bars, restaurants. Street noise at night (we stayed on a Friday night). Breakfast was extremely slow - 30-40 minutes wait time. Corners of the bathroom floor looked as if they hadn't been cleaned for many years. Cleaner knocked on our room door in spite of 'do not disturb' sign.
The hotel was in the centre, good food, great staff, And next time we go back to chester we are going right back to the pied bull
The central location and the "Old World Charm" - very charming and very atmospheric. Also staff were friendly, helpful and service was extremely quick. Breakfast was good and freshly made. Facilities were clean and comfortable. Our room was over the public bar and was a bit noisy - luckily we didn't stay on the Karaoke night! Beer deliveries started quite early (but to be fair much what you'd expect staying in a very old but lively city centre pub).
the staff were hilarious and made us feel very welcome
friendlyness of staff. freedom of movement. Easiness of parking
Good choice for breakfast En-suite in room poor. Very cramped for space and shower poor
The staff were incredibly welcoming and sympathetic to the problems I had with my baby girl at the time and were more than happy to help with any problems. The room was rather cold, although tea making facilities were provided in the room, there was no plug socket near the kettle so had to move the kettle to near the bed everytime we needed boiled water. The tea table also collapsed when moved. I would stay here again but would ask for a small heater and a safer table.
It has a great location, very fine restautant. In fact we wish we had more time to enjoy the hotel and its facilities.
Breakfast was great .How nice to have a freshly cooked breakfast though new crockery urgently needed Stained cracked crockery every morning for breakfast,Leaking radiator,(reported but not mended in the three days we stayed) very dirty window ledges, carpet edes and doors hand/finger smudges on doors which did wipe away with a little effort, therefore one felt that the cleaning was below standard and not observed by management.
The extremely attentive staff who made this hotel such a world apart from so called "posh hotels". Beautiful situation, close to Chester and yet in the middle of nowhere. One of my better choices. The other reviews have an element of truth regarding the requirement for updating the decor.
oasis of calm, spacious comfortable room, spacious bathroom, most friendly and helpful staff.
The most Friendly service
Quality hotel ,, great service from all the staff ...
-Very quiet place, although there were weddings - close to Chester - nice rooms the music in the dinig room, always the same or nothing, not professional
Very helpful staff, lovely atmosphere, good food, good sports facilities.
Staff were all friendly, ambience was excellent, beautiful peaceful grounds and hotel. The room windows must have been open for about a week, I spent the first hour of checking in killing all the mosquito's and flies in the room.
The hotelitself was lovely, well decorated adn luxuirous, the spa area was fantastic. We ate in the restaurant and the the service and food were both fab!
The staff were really welcoming and friendly. The room we stayed in was excellent value for money and was designed beautifully. We also had dinner at the hotel which was equally enjoyable and once again value for money. The hotel has a great atmosphere and is really popular in the chester centre. Will be going again in the new year. I went with my Mum for a girlie shopping weekend, however this hotel would be suitable for any occassion. No negative feedback is required.
The staff were very helpful and welcoming. The room was comfortable and had a wonderful shower. The bed was comfortable. We had dinner at the hotel and it was both economical and delicious. The only problem I had was in picking up the free internet in my room - it only worked near the door.
Lovely hotel, staff very frendly and welcoming. Room was fantastic. Nicest place I have ever stayed in
Great location, very helpful staff
Lovely rooms and very friendly staff. The Hotel is hard to find but worth it. Might not suit elderly guests as there is late music. But our group really enjoyed our stay.
for the past few years my husband and I have stayed in several hotels in and around Chester, The Commercial Hotel is by far the most superior. The service, room, food and entertainment was absolutely fantastic. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, it's a real treat!
Clean, comfortable, friendly serive, good location for exploring the city
The room was nice, bed comfortable and a good sized shower. Hostess was always helpful and breakfasts well organised. Enjoyed my stay there. All ok.
nice warm welcome and lovely breakfast. very helpful and informative owners. comfortable stay
It's clean and warm. Breakfast is good quality and there's good choice. It's a fifteen minute walk into the city centre. There is a good chinese restaurant within 5 minutes walk and also a decent bar at a nearby hotel, open to the public. B&B's are 'quirky' because the owners do things to suit their own lifestyle. We didn't know this was a b&b so we were disappointed by one aspect of our stay. At Brooklands guests have to order their breakfast the day before and say what time they'd want it. Rooms are cleaned between 10am -12pm. For some people, including us, part of the pleasure/indulgence of being on a 'leisure' break is not having to dance to some one elses's tune, involving advance decisions commonly associated with a mundane working week.
This was a well run bed and breakfast with a comfortable bedroom together with ensuite shower. We have a very good English breakfast. The siting was just a short bus ride away.l
Friendly welcome. Large comfortable bed. Breakfast good.
Owners very helpful. Hotel near to local transport. Restaurants close by. Within reasonable walking distance of city centre. Very quiet location. Slightly older persons staying at the premises making for a quiet peaceful stay. The bathroom slightly on the small side. Wardrobe limited to amount of space.
value for money and helpful information on local places of interest etc.
It was a bed and breakfast not an hotel This stay was in a Bed and Breakfast not an Hotel. I thought it was an Hotel and I expected some help with my luggage as the room was on the 2nd floor. There was no Lounge, and we did not like ordering our breakfast the night before. The room wardrobe was very small, there was only one chair and it was difficult to put the cases down let alone open them. The Shower holder was broken, and there was not enough shelf space to take the ordinary items and sponge bags. Below you ask me if I would would recomend this hotel when it is a Bed & Breakfast
The room was very clean and comfortable the hosts were very freindly and helpful and made us feel very welcome.
close to station its very dated.....
A very small single room, which somehow managed to have all the necessary facilities in it, including tea and coffee! V convenient location and perfect for a single traveller on a short stay in Chester. A very very small bathroom, where it was necessary to keep the door closed to stop the smoke alarm going off (I was told). There was Karaoke going on late into Saturday night which may have disturbed some people if their rooms had been above.
Nothing!! It was bloody awful!! Everything! It was dirty dated and disgusting
the staff were very helpfull and friendly
Nice reception are, dining area nd bar, also a lounge too. Cooked breakfast very good. Would have been nice to have aduvet on my bed very cold at night, just a sheet and blanket.
Friendly and helpful staff. Awful rooms in the attic. Shouldn't have converted attic into rooms and never notify customers of the uncomfortable situation.
we were directly above the bar which had karioki till after 12
Nothing I am sorry to say, this was probably the worst hotel i have ever stayed in
Very good location, nice room, friendly staff
close enough for walk to the centre bathroom old
Our room 306 did not have a permanent shower
good food in restaurant
The free bar between 5 and 7 pm.
reception decor the room i stayed in was quite shabby and dated in appearance, albeit clean. It was quite disappointing to enter having encountered the obviously redecorated hallway and reception area. During morning breakfast, I noted that tables were not cleared for the whole duration of my meal, which was not particularly pleasant to look at and felt that the two waitresses although both busy were not working methodically and together as a team in clearing away tables effectively and in readiness for the ever arriving breakfast guests, looking at times at the dirty tables as they passed by them (I too used to work in very busy restaurants so know what it is like)
Excellent food and pleasant helpful staff. Our room in need of refurbishment. The hotel makes a big play about its 'green' credentials but there was a large crack in one of the panes in the window and it was the coldest weekend of the year!
Breakfast Comfortable room near centre of town Felt impersonal
The decoration was dark and dingy, our room in particular was a mauve /purple colour which made the room dark and clausterphobic
Excellent breakfast . Very comfortable room with clean white towels everyday and pristine bed linen.
Excellent location - 2 minute walk to the city centre. Room was amazing value for money - standard room would have been the equivalent to a luxury room in many hotels. Breakfast was delivered to our room free of charge. Will definitely stay there again.
Excellent room.Breakfast very good Trying to get in was difficult as was parking
Modern Friendly staff, the decor in exec room superb, minimalist and cool, next time will eat there, but a good hotel
Comfortables beds Reception area too dark
close to city with comfortable rooms excellent parking and a fantastic michael caine restaurant . staff very polite and helpful
Very good location for shopping and to visit Michael Caines Restaurant Our original room was noisy, however the hotel were very good about changing room. The Michael Caines restaurant was cold and noisy from the Champagne bar next door. The food was excellent
Central location, new and modern Poor breakfast, pricey and limited parking
The room we stayed in was very nice, very big and modern styling. The staff were very helpful and there was always somebody on reception if you needed them. The car park is alittle bit tight to drive around and the pillows were hard but there only little things to worry about.
