Nice Room! Nothing at all. Great hotel.
The staff were very friendly and helpful when asked for assistance. Restaurant food was high quality with a good selection.
The stay was good until 9am, no water, therefore could not shower. After breakfast there was no toilet facilities, that was horrendous because all toilets were blocked by then. The hygeine was nil. I would expect some compensation for this depolrable inconvenience.
My friends and I stayed at Hilton Maidstone as it is half way between our homes. It suited our needs perfectly and was very comfortable. It was close enough to town to leave our cars there and get a cab into town. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
friendly helpful staff. had deluxe room which exceeded expectations. buffet breakfast could've been better; not very hot, rubbery eggs, hard croissants and had to ask for more hot water for teapot as only enough for 1 and a half cups between us.
The food in the restaurant was excellent, unfortunately, they cannot cope when the hotel is full, so unless you go early, you will have to queue. The reception staff, are poor, our rooms were not available until 4.30, and sadly that was after a lot of complaining.
Great quality alround None at all
Excellent service and facilities None
I enjoy your swimming pool very much - one of the best around. I phoned reception many times on the Friday evening to request a taxi but your colleagues did not answer and so I was late for my appointment. The following morning I again phoned reception and again they did not answer.
The standard of service was of the highest level. Made to feel a valued guest.
location next to sports center where my daughter was competing breakfat cold
I have stayed there before and the staff are always welcoming. When I asked to be moved to a quieter room away from traffic, this was dealt with quickly and without fuss.
Very nice girl staff
The restaurant The bathroom was pathetic, thetoilet didn't flush we had to use the waste bin. After reporting it it only worked once after the repair.A tile fell of the side of the sink unit & parts of the formica was missing.
Staff were helpful and friendly The rooms lacked maintenance, with some basic faults not fixed. e.g Shower head loose and needing holding to use.
convenient to location shower could have been better
Nice hotel, good facilities No improvement on breakfast, often cold or without hot drinks
Good value for money. Food (Breakfast) was lovely. Decor was dated, but kept very clean.
Good value hotel. Decent breakfast and good evening meals. Bargain prices and a good choice overall. Would happily stay there again.
I only stayed for the 1 night but found the staff friendly and helpful. I relaxed in the pool area and enjoyed a good nights sleep before my meeting the next day.
Only ever stayed for one night many times prior to going and coming back from Spain via the tunnel. Comfortable beds, nice rooms and a good shower (makes a change not to have water all over the floor like many hotels). Breakfast is a feast and hot, dinner at night is also good will be back.
Good restaurant with well prepared food Shower in the room was almost impossible to adjust
Food rooms and curteous staff
All of the staff that we met at Ashford where extremely polite and friendly with a very professional manner. Very small point. The fantastic bathroom was let down by the stickers that had been stuck on the tiles (crooked) providing information and warnings.
the room was pleasing and a comfortable bed. yes, the refurbishment meant that the facilities were not up to standard, especially a make-shift restaurant with no windows/outside light.
Breakfast Hard Bed
The evening hotel staff were extremely friendly and we were not rushed at all during our meal I cut my foot in the pool area on a two pronged black 'tack' and had to get some first aid assistance - didnt seem to really be 'on the ball' but did give me spare plasters. Staff did not give the impression they knew how to use the stairlift down to the pool as my mother needed to us it and it took ages whilst they experimented with the different buttons and during all ths time everyone was watching my mum on their and couldnt get past and this was embarrassing for her. Under the DDA Regulations they should be totally prepared to accommodated customers with mobility impairments
Staff, much like the people in Ashford, were very nice. One of the front desk staff gave us a great recommendation and directions to a fantastic indian restaurant. Rooms are definitely not of the standard one would expect given the price and star rating. To say walls are thin is an understatement. Every noise from corridors and neighbouring rooms could be heard - including bathrooms. Rooms have been decorated, but are not maintained well - lots of large cobwebs and handle fell off door of the second room we were moved to (given the excess noise in the first). Second room whihc was a non-smoking room smelt badly of stale cigarettes. While staff/food were excellent, we could not ever recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nights sleep. Also disappointed that our request for a room at end of corridor / very quiet room, did not get transferred from booking.com to the hotel (according to the hotel).
very comfortable room lack of facilities during renovation and particularly concerned for the large number of elderly / infirm people who had to climb stairs due to their being no lift available during the refurbishment.
Rooms nice but a little on the small side for the money. Room clean. Breakfast good. Very hot heating! Shower curtain had been doubled up and was going mouldy / smelly inside it.
,nice leisure facilities, lovely setting and grounds distance from lift to room ,
Excellent tv / internet An improvement would be air conditioning
staff very good Hotel being revamped but is very jaded
The grounds were nice. The food and drinks were way overpriced, and on the first day the bar had run out of Rose and Vodka!
Whilst typical of so many modern hotels, this one has some helpful and friendly staff and it is in a convenient and pleasant location. The hotel only offers double rooms suitable for disabled guests - I would have preferred a twin room.
Friendliness of staff Poor quality of the function food especially the main course
There isn't anything I can really say... Din't have WI-FI in the room.
It is located right next to Leeds Castle, which is why we stayed there. It's a bit out of date and unloved. It could be better with some upgrading and cleaning up. 4 Stars? Only on paper!
The room was of an excellent standard and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The whole experiance was very good The only bad ponit was that 2 or 3 things on the late menu where not avalible
Evening meal was nice but very expensive! The hotel booking was a joke, room was not what we booked, moved rooms, they couldnt find our luggage, spa pool was not working, breakfast choice was very limited, they took our breakfast plates from under our noses at exactly 11am when breakfast finished, we had to ask for our plates back. When we checked out they added items to our bill that we had not had from the minibar, even after I told them exactly what we had. The long weekend was like a prison sentence
we stayed there to attend a family wedding, - immaculate room only thing was going into breakfast at 9.30 we felt the staff were not too interested and rushing to get the room ready for lunch
Well set out - rooms are comfortable - easy parking Internet didnt work - aircon unit in room was broken - check out took an age (one staff member only on reception)
Stayed overnight as we had a Party near by to attend The air con was broken in one of our rooms on the hotest day and we were given a fan
The room was quite small but adequate with the beds very comfortable and all fittings ,bathroom etc. up to normal Marriot standards.Restaurant food and service was very good.
the whole stay was really fanstatic and relaxing, the staff was all very nice only one prob booked breakfast through this site and it wasnt forwarded to the hotel but as soon as i showed my copy of booking they allowed it, but it was this site that hadnt told them
The friendly staff, cleanliness of rooms and the variety of foods.
I was very impressed with the help I received as I am blind and found staff extrememly helpfull I found that my room card had not been programed properly and I accidentally was able to open somebody elses room as well as mine
We did not find this the usual standard of Marriott Hotels. Restaurant for dinner is not recommended.
the price was very god for the room the room was cold they said there was problems with the heating but no heat at night when working in the room
everything was fine /clean and tidy
The room was very nice. The food was not great, only 3 main meals on the menu.
Very good value for money could be difficult to find, due to its location
quiet late breakfast
The young girl and the kitchen staff were very helpfull and are to be commended.
The room was very comfortable with a contemporary feel. Oakwood House does not have the atmosphere of a 'Hotel'. It is essentially a conference centre with very good accomodation.
It was more like an educational establishment than a hotel. In the bar, men were sitting around at tables with drinks, and working with lap top comuters. One bloke was on his mobile phone all through breakfast.
Very fresh and nice room. Very hard to find the hotel (in the middle of a University area) Feeling of beeing in the middle of a conference during breakfast. Breakfast was ok but not perfect.
Clean, modern and comfortable room - great shower. Not really a conventional hotel - a conference centre. Dining room lacking in ambience.
Lovely looking hotel from the outside and in a peaceful location. Rooms were clean. Breakfast was tasty. Staff seemed mostly miserable and only begrudgingly helpful, except for one member of the housekeeping team, who was exceptionally friendly, helpful and polite. For example, there was no explanation at check-in of the breakfast arrangements, and upon calling to find out and making my way to the sparsely populated dining area, not one member of staff approached me to offer me a table, drink or mention that it was a buffet service. Great customer service, guys. The bedroom was lovely at first sight, if cheaply equipped, but the double bed was a couple of bolted together singles and consequently had an uncomfortable solid ridge down the middle, the frankenstein-esque beds also creaked like they were going to fall apart at any second which really limited the athleticism of our sexual escapades. The walls were paper thin, which meant that our German neighbours (we could hear them talking) in the adjoining room probably got very little sleep between the creaking of our siamese-twin beds and the fact that my girlfriend snores like a dying walrus. Oh, and the room was also loving placed right underneath a spotlight which was mostly unpleasant, except for the fact it made me feel like I had finally made my West End debut... All night. Seriously, if you want to stay somewhere in the £70-£90 bracket go to a nice B&B or a Travelodge, rather than risk disappointment in Oakwood House.
hotel was well looked after, rooms and beds very comfortable. Excellent facilities. Will stay in the hotel again. Excellent value for money.
The restaurant and leisure facilities
a very pleasant stay- made a working weekend much more enjoyable.we made use of the pool -wonderful. would have liked pool to be open earlier on saturday!
Room was clean and comfortable, staff were polite and helpful, bar meal selection was more than ample and well presented, all in all a pleasant stay
gym and pool excellent restaurant service, no pay movies
Staff, location, ease of use, quick check-in &out. Shampoo/body wash in shower. Bit basic for a 4* hotel , bathroom floor could have been cleaner.
the evening meal was excellant value for money and restaurant staff very nice reception staff a bit offhand
Food in the restaurant was excellent
It's conveniently placed with plenty of parking and easy access. The restaurant is pleasant enough. The cost of food, 10.95 for a burger and 3.40 for chips is a bit excessive.
Starbucks Not overly impressed, have stayed in better hotels for the price, Towels could do with being replaced
The personal interest shown to us- great great - we've stayed before and, will book again (directly) and, recommned it to our friends. For me only one thing, no smoking enclosure. So, brrrr cold for a girl from South Africa!
Food was excellent & reasonably priced & rooms were clean, tidy & homely Thought the mattress in my room was quite hard & unforgiving but apart from that enjoyed the stay
The friendliness of the staff and the quality of the food the hot breakfast came before we had finished our cereal
We were warmly greeted and directed to our room, which was down an extremely steep slope. The room was clean, comfortable and modern although, very dimly lit.The sheets were a dull cream in colour, which tended to make them look grubby white. The bathroom was modern and generally clean apart from under the rim of the toilet. a nice touch was a cafetiere with ground coffee amongst the usual hot drink facilities. The restaurant was definitely gourmet with a wide selection of starters, mains & desserts accompanied by a good choice of wines. We enjoyed two fantastic evening meals. Breakfast was delicious:fresh fruit salad, cereals, yoghurts, toast and a full English. Staff were most accommodating & very friendly. The slope down to the rooms was hazardous. a ground frost made it quite icy in parts.WINTER Would be lethal! On the first two nights the food was outstanding although on our last night my steak was cold. I sent it back with minimal fuss. However, by the time it was returned to me, my partner had finished her meal. The steak was hot, but could no longer be described as "medium" and the accompanying asparagus & dauphinoise potatoes were dried out and I left most ot this meal. I am easily embarrassed & did not want to make a fuss, but did question why it was still on the bill. I was given £6.50 reduction, but still charged £13.50 for the main meal I did not eat- this spoilt our last night & I felt that I had been overcharged.
Friendly and very helpful people. food good at a fair rate.
The restaurant was excellent! Will visit again.
We both loved the fact it was secluded and as we got to the room the rooms themselves we can only descibe as being like attached Bungalows and as we went in the design of the room was spot on all the facilities you need but at the same time nice and spacious. The staff in the restuarant and the Hotel reception were very friendly welcoming and attentive. All in all the night from start to finish was superb. Nothing at all staff and the Inn alike were faultless
Good rural setting. Generous car parking
excellent accomodation, food superb, excellent sevice
comfortable and quite.
The location, friendly staff, being above the pub, the breakfast, design of room, view from room and restaurant, ease of booking online, checking in and out.
Friendly, helpful staff. Offered smoking room but now have none.
The quiet. The helpfulness of the waitress at breakfast. No answer to phone calls. No night porter.
location , location , location
Overall stay was very good and all the staff were very helpful and friendly. We had no blind up in the bathroom and mentioned it to one of the staff in the bar in the evening and it was dealt with the following day. Very good location for visiting family in Chatham and local amenities.
It was very close to local amenities and staff and hotel were very good As it was New Year Weekend both fish dishes on menu were not available on both nights we dined there. As a non meat eater this left me with limited choice
Location Could not get a drink 10.15pm 30th Dec? (Towels up)? No food New Years day (Breakfast) although guests were staying at the Hotel! No-one told. Limited food bar area. Very noisy rooms. Pets allowed to stay in rooms although told Pets not allowed. Carpets very dirty. Guests rooms wall very thin. Could hear everything through walls? Next doors toilet backed onto our Bedhead? The lady may as well have been in the same room, very embarressing. Hotel very tired and needs a total revamp. Given its location (on marina) Sheperd & Neame needs to splash the cash!! and soon.
The bedrooms were comfortable and the decor had an interesting nautical theme. Don't be put off by the look of the exterior; it's much nicer inside. The lighting in the bedroom was very dim and the room was cold. Breakfast service was slow on the Sunday morning.
friendly staff, good food at reasonable prices, real ales. rooms were very hot, so, some better form of air conditioning would be good, secure parking as we were on motorbikes.
Situation good. It was a very busy pub not a hotel. Restaurant quality and selection fair. Reception desk was anyone one could get hold of behind the bar which was heaving!!!
Helpful staff, good food, lovely room furnishing. No bar for residents after 11:00 p.m.
Ease of location and good value for money
staff very helpful, quiet room (which we asked for), good atmosphere
The room had been well refurbished and was well appointed
Staff friendly and helpful. Good location, easy access. Shabby decor/carpet stains
The on site bar and restraunt pleny of parking
It was easy to stay there, left to yourself. It was quite cold with the radiators not working properly.
All round a very good experience
Friendly staff, pleasant food
Friendliness of the staff
Lovely hotel radiator in room did not work
The food was excellent and the staff very friendly and polite. The picture quality on the television was appalling on virtually all channels, otherwise my stay was very pleasant and most enjoyable.
the room service was amazing, food presented better tuen in restaurant massages not very good as just seemed to be rubing in the oils! long service wait in restaurant
Good service & excellent breakfast Food was a bit strange in the evening - (cucumber jelly??)
Staff were well trained and keen to oblige. They willingly moved me to another room when I mentioned to them that the corridor outside the non smoking room room smelled strongly of smoke. This was meant to be a non smiking hotel. Breakasts were good. Parking was plentiful. Corridors occasionally smelled of smoke although this was a non smoking hotel. More reinforcement needed to ensure no-one smokes in the hotel at all.
The whole experience - the room was very comfortable; the staff were really helpful and friendly; the breakfast was excellent. We also had the Sunday lunch carvery which was really good, and excellent value. My parents complained that they were disturbed by loud music from a wedding party, but since this finished at 11pm they were able to get to sleep reasonably early.
Sheets and blankets! Duvets would be much more comfortable
Dining was good and we were well served by the staff who were very attentive. Breakfast was very good also The hotel was cold and my room was very cold being on the top floor. `it was near the lifts which was helpful.
Staff were excellent food good and happy to prepare food not on menu All room sground floor, impossible to switch heater off not possible to leave room open all night
The rooms where immaculate and very well equiped with everything you could desire. The staff where extremly helpful and nothing was to much trouble. I really enjoyed staying at downsview, if you wish to stay at a hotel with the comfort of home, downsview is a sure choice.
Our room was furnished to a very high standard and was very clean It did not mention that currently they are doing the hotel up, therefore the only facilities that are up to standard is the bedrooms.
Nice place, with excellent staff.
Very comfortable room, the public area has yet to be renovated but it was ok. Handy for the eurostar also a short walk from restaurant for evening meal.
feeling welcome despite very late arrival after ferry crossing, free upgrade to family suite, well heated room, very friendly breakfast service a shame breakfast is not included in the room rates
room is good, the hotel may be better after finiching work, to find hotel very bad,
The view from our room was over the garden and downs, we had the continental breakfast at £4 it was excellent vaue
Fabulous beds! Full English breakfast is not worth the money.
Very nice stay, friendly welcome, excellent breakfast
Very clean rooms! Excellent self-service breakfast with different cerials, fresh fruits and toast!
The room was excellent and the location very good. I thought the breakfast for vegetarians was very limited even having phoned previously to check their would be a good selection. The portion given for vegetarians was exceptionally small.
very pleasant setting and liked it since the first time I stayed there,
Friendly & gave impression of a Family run type of hotel. Exceptionally well run, all round enjoyable experience. Will recommend easily to anyone wanting to use facilities locally.
Cleanliness of room, breakfast service For a single, a little on the pricey side
Good Parking facilities which is important, very clean room, spoilt by one of the lights not working. Bathroom excellent NA
very helpful and friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them
The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was very homely, only item missing was the real fire in the lounge! Bedroom was good and comfortable and it was nice an quiet overnight - no sound of cars or revellers on the street! The food was not to the standard I would have expected of a country inn at the prices being charged. Lack of thought to presentation - a large "splodge" of mashed potatoes was on the plate with a breast of pheasant, and the same for fillet of lamb. Meat portions could have been slightly bigger. Breakfast in the morning was rather poor in quality - croissant was either stale or had been overheated, tea was not hot and service took too long,. Insufficent staff in morning for the number of guest coming down at one time., Would have been better to have done a self service cold buffet style breakfast and taken the pressure of the one girl serving and allowed guests to get their breakfast promptly.
Helpful staff, efficient service, tasty food, spacious and modern accommodation
perfect little pub hotel, faultless
The rooms were comfortable and well equipped We stayed 2 nights on 2 separate occassions. The second time was very cold. Apparently they had problems with the heating - we learnt on departure. We had a very cold uncomfortable night!!
We stayed one night. Check in was straightforward and the room more than suitable for our purpose (visiting faimily near by)
arrived at 3.45 pm, room was not ready had to wait until 4.15. hence missed the wedding
the room was very comfortable and clean and the staff were great. facilities very good. some noise form a disco but nothing to heavy
i like the sauna and pool nothing
pool breakfast - no orange juice even when asked. Breakfast very very dry as it was left sitting around on the hotplates for a long time
The leisure facilities: Gym, swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room and the breakfast I suggest each toilet room has WC brush and air freshner
On arrival there was a problem with the booking, I'm unsure whether the hotel had only received my details from you or had not received any details, but this problem was dealt with swiftly and courtiously. Access to the swimming pool was good. Breakfast was reasonable with good space between tables and no feeling that we were being rushed to finish our meal. The absence of double glazing in our room meant that we could hear the traffic on the main road outside at all times.
really helpful staff ,i will return and recommend you.
Staff were pleasant and smiley, room very clean and comfortable. Food excellent.
The use of the spa facilities
Fantastic hotel with excellent spa facilities.Staff were extremely helpful and made us feel welcome.
quietness, beautiful parkland non smoking policy throughout the hotel!!!
Excellent service from staff, excellent Spa facilites none
on arrival I wanted to change my room, this was done with ease and extremely well handled by the staff, I found that all the staff very welcoming
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The main house and grounds are beautiful and the service was good. The spa and leisure facilities are also excellent. I have stayed in this hotel before but always in the main house. This time we stayed in a room in the Mews. The bed was very uncomfortable and the decor was tired and in need of redecoration (peeling wall paper, furniture with chipped paint, the bedding still had the Matalan labels on it!) I would recomend this hotel again because I know the rooms in the main house are excellent. However the room in the Mews was disappointing and I certainly didn't feel it was value for money (although it was clean).
All of it Price of pre dinner drink
a great location, quiet and peaceful, the historical significance of the building, the attention to detail, the pool and spa was one of the best i have ever used anywhere, the quality of the food and beverage, the grounds available for a stroll. Really is a very nice hotel, with good management who have set the tone and atmosphere just right. reception staff on the evening i arrived where a little brash. not with myself, but a chap was checking out and they could not even manage a single please or thank you. "enter your pin number" "here is your invoice" The spa reception staff were not exactly welcoming either. A smile goes a long way on front of house. it was noticable as all other staff were excellent and the girls on reception when i checked out were a complete contrast. cheerful, hospitable and very polite.
facilities they put sugar in my porridge!
The moment you arrive in the lovely grounds and surroundings the peace and tranquility. The restaurant in the pavilion bar and some of the robes need updating.
Nice, spacious, relatively luxurious bed and breakfast Very nice restaurant Nice location, in the middle of rural Kent though still 20-25 minutes from Maidstone Not really geared for business travellers. Breakfast is after 0930! You are offered continental breakfast in your room if you have to leave before 0930. Not easy to find, especially late at night, when my mobile sat nav stopped working as there was no reception and there was no single soul awake to ask for instructions. I suggested to the owner to alert future customers at time of confirmation of booking, with emphatic fonts e.g. capitals or bold that this may be the case, so to make alternative preparations e.g. print the map or download off line map. Do not take me wrong, overall it is a nice B&B with some very fancy rooms. Very nice for a romantic weekend/getaway!
Friendly staff, excellent food
made to feel very welcome everyone was very friendly and extremely helpful. very relaxing.
The location and the grounds. The room was extremely warm (no heating on) and looked to be a single, instead of a double room.
The little extras eg. The weather forecast left when the bed was turned back. the newspaper left in a bag that said good morning. The age related parts of the building eg. the staircase Not easy to get around for disabled
The staff were obviously used to fussy people they were so atentive and polite. the whole location and setting the stly and decore wse fabulous and the food both cream tea bar menu and breakfast was fab to. not to pretenious just fab.
The quality of the room service food in the evening.
The setting was beautiful
Very nice setting Could do with a few more signs from the main road and at junctions after Lenham
The food was superb, the views wonderful and the hotel itself interesting. Thought food was overpriced and disappointed to find no brandy stocked in the bar.
Second time we have stayed here, only 30 minutes from Dover port allowing us to catch a ferry without a long drive and the hassle of the M25 and the Dartford Tunnel. Efficient service at check-in and breakfast!
It was a good place for us to meet up with some friends. However, it was for the sad occasion of a funeral in the locality. My wife and I found the beds a little too soft to what we are used to.
Friendly, clean & very convenient, just off the m20. Would stay again. Nothing.
Everything about the hotel was fantastic No
Excellent friendly staff. Nice clean room, very comfortable stay
Location excellent, easy access to all major roads,10mins to Ashford.Foyer, bar, restaurant clean and adequate.Room itself was clean, modern,,had all facilities required including internet access, bathroom spacious, clean Two maor problems ; 1. Specificallly aasked for non-smoking room, the room no.005,smelt of stale smoke (non-smoking sign on door).Simpley not good enough.2. Noisey. It was double-glazed,but the nois from the A20 100m away was noticeable,to the point that my partner slept with ear plugs in.Again Simpley not good enough. There is plenty of choice for this locality, this hotel chain needs to sort this out.
It was nice and clean, The bed was comfortble Yes. It was long way out of ashford and not siged posted well
Clean and comforatable with good facilities. Does exactly what it says on the tin....... Nothing really
Convenient location Noisy room, close to motorway
Good room, good breakfasts, helpful staff, good location. would be happy to stay here again.
