Quality suroundings, amenities & location.
Great location, just a few minutes walk from the centre. Good personally service and excellent decor.
The hotel has an amazing view over Heidelberg and includes stunning rooms and really friendly staff. It's a little on the pricey side
It's location was perfect oberlooking the old town which was just a 5 minute walk away. The hotel itself is excellently presented and the staff are extremely professional. It offers a spa which we didn't use, rear gardens with a summer house and jaccuzi again we didn't have time to take advantage of these facilities. Room very comfortable and clean. The fact that the carpark attached to the hotel was charged to you at at rate of 15 Euro's per day. It is incredibly small and I feel that the charge was unneccessary given the cost of the hotel.
it was a marvelous hotel very fine designed which covered all my expectations , small but fine . tip ask for a suite over viewing the river !
Beautiful & attentive to details decoration; outstanding & proactive guest service;
Nice place, Wifi free of charge The shower was old, no hair-dryer, no soap. I had ask for a room with Wifi, I didn't had -> I had to change the room
view from the window and nice staff, excellent bearkfast a bit easier access
Very, very nice location with beautiful view at the Heidelberg. Not really,
The room was a very good size and clean. There was no information pack, no complimentary toiletries, no extra blankets, no evening bar service
It was quiet and the sunset from the terrace was lovely. There is no view of the castle. The rooms are very shabby and having seen 4 rooms before settling all had broken equipment.
beautiful view, comfortable, right above the Schloß without a car, this is a difficult place to reach, one can take the Bergbahn, but that only goes until about 4:45pm, Taxi is possible, but of course you have to pay. Unless you want to spend the whole evening indoors, you either need to walk 30 min on the steep road or call a Taxi.
The location near Heidelberg Castle.
The staff is helpful and kind. Rooms are clean and comfortable. I really appreciated the presence of the bottle of water in the room.
Beautiful spot above Heidelberg Castle. Great staff. Doesn't have internet access in the room or main area
Good location and views, overlooking the town. Hard to find from the town without satnav. Rooms are tired, 70's style. Breakfast was 9 euro extra and only a small buffet. Only one member of staff running the whole place at any one time.
Proximity of place to our favorite-beer = Guinness despite the pub no noise nuisance Nothing
Ideal location - reasonably priced. No coffee making facilities in room. A little noisey but to be expected being on the main street.
I like the small TV and the controllable heating system No elevator and my room was on the third floor.
The location is absolutely perfect - in the heart of Heidelberg Altstadt! There were troubles with trains from Bayern that evening, so I arrived in Heidel at 00:30! And it was no problem with putting me in the room - thanks to staff! Free wi-fi...:))
Great place right in the middle of downtown walking area/shops/cafes/pubs. Newly remodeled rooms that are very simple, nice, and clean. Owner (Nile) was extremely accommodating and nice. Price was the best around for what you get. It was cool to check in at a pub! No breakfast, but you don't pay for it, and there are places right outside the door.
Good experience. Clean and relatively quite room.
Clean, simple, all that was needed mini fridge in room very good to have Really hot and stuffy, would have been much more comfortable in winter was a bit concerned that the place looked closed when we arrived in the morning - would be good to have a sign in the window, something like 'check in at pub bar after opening time 12 noon'
excellent location, clean room, low price There is no reception and you are checking in at the pub. But the pub opens at noon, so if you arrive early there is no place to leave your luggage, you just walk around the streets currying them. There is no elevator and the breakfast was very expensive. We had a bad sleep because the double bed is very small and there are noises from the pub until late. The room was very small, with no place to put your suitcase, no chair, only one bedside table, broken shower door, etc.
The location is great and the rooms are an incredible value. The staff is friendly and parking is convenient.
4 days without cleaning or changing the towels.a broken bed. When I asked to keep my luggage after checkout I found out they simply put in a corner of the pub where everybody has access
The central location could not be better. The room was very noisy at night with outside revelers noise through until 3 / 4 am. No lounge area for sitting and relaxing.
Location is perfect and the historical value of the building is extremely impressive!
This is actually a historical landmark in Heidelberg and tour groups visit it! Each room was different and offered various amenties-tub versus shower, for example. Old World decor and views of The Castle. Fabulous location -can walk to almost everything. Would definitely stay here again. Tiniest of complaints-the baths linens were terrible! I use better and thicker ones when washing my car!
Excellent location, large comfortable room. Church bells rang every 15 minutes throughout the night. Probably unavoidable anywhere in the city.
The location is perfect! Clean rooms and helpful staff.
The location of the hotel could not have been better. We could walk to everything. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. The hotel was opposite the church. The church bells rang loudly every fifteen minutes. Other guests sang and shouted outside the hotel until 6.00 am so kept us awake all night.
Sitting out side and people watching while I was drinking a Pils
It is a very homely environment. I like the restaurant set up. The staff speaks good English and very helpful. The wash room is very small.
was not told about extre chg for breakfast
location of hotel initially trying to find hotel; limited access through pedestrian zone
The staff were very nice, friendly and helpful. The room, Vermatt, was lovely and so different from any we have stayed in before. We will certainly try and stay in other Hip Hotels across the world. It would have been nice to have some tea, coffee facilities in the room although the water was a nice touch.
Big rooms, great location, nice staff members The Breakfast table could have more selection of fruts, actually no fruts were offered during my stay.
The room was unique and very spatious. We appreciated the friendly staff also.
Nicely furnished and big enough rooms, convenient location, nice beer garden Reception could be nicer, nevertheless hotel is very nice, the first impression when entering is not good enough for 4 star hotel.
Very good location. Breakfast was good value. Access by car difficult. Room we had was small.Poor lighting in the room & smoking was allowed in seating area outside.
The room was very large. We were in the Paris room which was good for a group of 3 as the extra bed was a proper bed. The room was very clean and well decorated. The front desk staff were helpful. We arrived late in the evening and the room was not heated. It didn't take all that long to heat up though.
The staff was very nice and the rooms were creatively designed and "fun". Location was excellent.
Individual / unusal room decor. Good restaurant / bar. Excellent location on Hauptstrasse in middle of Altstadt. Difficult to drive to (in pedestrian zone). Parking was in underground carpark (limited vehicle height 1.80 m)
good location; unique room strange bathroom fixtures - didn't seem to be in style of room
the bed was not comfortabe and had a hard time sleeping.
Friendly and helpful staff, location, great restaurant
Place of the hotel in the centre of the city No breakfast shabby entrence
Excellent location. No lift. Reception closed sometimes during the morning. Poor wifi signal even in the ground floor.
The location was great, nestled close to the center of the city. Staff was not user friendly. Would not make arrangements for an early breakfast. Adverstisement stated parking close vicinity, however it was more than a 10 minute walk. Three lights in room, only beside worked, one was torn from wall. Fortunately I was not on the third floor because handrail was missing.
I liked the fact that it was not on the main street. Too much noise and revelry for my taste. The hotel was tucked back on a side street and had a cozy bar/restaurant downstairs. The WiFi was too slow to do simple searched of the local area or look up directions. No worries though as I had the address and easily found the restaurant a few blocks away.
The staff were really good. Very friendly and helpful.. The room was very clean and the service was excellent
Excellent location to the old part of town, bridge, Castle and touristic sites. Restaurant and bar provide a wonderful ambience of an old Heidelberg hotel frequented by students (fantastic photos on the wall). Nice breakfast and friendly staff. Meals from the restaurant were interesting, tasty and showed regional appeal. Cleanliness of our room was an issue for us- it appeared that the room had not been used for some time and was in need of a spring clean. For example, there was mould in the bathroom and we had to clean the wardrobe before we could put our clothes in it. The room was not air-conditioned (not unusual for European hotels at this price level and we expected this) and it was hot whilst we were there. When we opened the window in the evening to facilitate sleeping, excessive noise from the beer garden was annoying. One evening they had a band playing in the hotel which made the noise situation even worse. One of the Windows would close only with great difficulty and with much persuasion on our part. Small pillows made sleeping difficult.
free wireless internet is very slow, very noisy especially on sat night, no direct bus from train station
Staff friendly. Room needs renovation.
The room was the biggest I have ever incountered in Europe, very nicely done and in the heart of the old town.
Location, location, location!!! Lack of an elevator
the location was perfect and I liked the concept of town house very much
the front desk staff was particularly friendly and helpful not really
Central location, friendly attentive staff. No airconditioning, very very small bathroom (even though main room was huge), public areas need updating
Location, breakfast service. Would refrain from statement.
Very good location. Friendly staff. Good breakfast
Perfect location and very friendly staff. Broken toalett and broken basin, very hard beds, pillows without feathers. The hotel needs to fresh up and then it would be perfect.
great location no elevators (I was at the 3rd floor!), old fashioned
Location and friendly service. Parking was about 600 yards from the hotel. Understand the reason, however, it was quite a hike over to the reserved parking they have.
I stayed at the Hotel Cafe Knoesel although the actual booking was at the Vier Jahreszeiten. Central location handy and very nice room. Two nights (Friday and Saturday) out of the seven I stayed in the hotel were extremely noisy until about 3am due to the bars in the area. Many screaming drunken people were passing under my rooms window.
Convenience to city centre Strong smell of cigarette smoke in my room.
The only thing I did like was the hotel staff and the breakfast Beds are strange and narrow for two people!
The location, cleanliness, facilities are all excellent. It seems a newly established hotel, good decoration and run on a low cost basis. The pillows are too low and we had to ask for additional ones. The staff seemed to be students however they handled OK.
It was a cute, affordable hotel. Good location, friendly staff and a great breakfast! If you are a non-smoker and hate the smell of tobacco - pass this one. The room that we stayed smelled like a smoking room. Pillows and comforters were reeked of tobacco. Honestly, it made me sick. I felt so bad for my 15 months old baby and his poor little lungs... Other than that, it was okay.
The hotel was very central and within easy walking distance of the castle and town. Room was spacious and clean, staff were helpful and it was quiet at night.
Friendly staff, stylish accommodation, excellent position for access to the city & castle
Nice location near the city centre, nice design friendly staff
Perfect Location. Good Breakfast. "Must Stay" when you visit Heidelberg
Well located and the staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. Not really.
Excellent hotel, right by the river and the old bridge. Had junior suite which was equipped with balcony and bathroom, a feature not many hotels in germany seem to have. D
How close it was to the Hauptstrasse.
A very pleasant and competent staff, perfect location for visiting the old city, good room accomodations. Dropoff with baggage is a little difficult
Lacation of the hotel
Excellent buffet breakfast, comfortable room and exceptionally friendly staff. Able to leave luggage secure on day of departure & staff arranged a taxi for us.
Excellent location! Staff at reception was so polite and helpful.
The location was excellent..from all the hotels in Heidelberg, I believe this one has the best location. The staff was more than friendly. When we arrived, a young men who had his first day in the hotel, did everything to make us feel welcome and helped us with everything. When we left, the staff helped us to put the luggage in the car. We had a room facing the back street on a saturday night when students went out to party etc. Was pretty loud. I would next request a quiet room. Breakfast buffet was too expensive. We decided to eat breakfast somewhere else around the corner.
I stayed in this hotel many times, and I like it very much. There can however be some noisy rooms (students leaving the bars / garbage being collected), specifically if you leave the window open. Luckily the air conditioning works fine.
The hotel offers a wide range of services that are to high standards. The traveller arriving by car will appreciate the spacious parking. It is located right in the historic center allowing to return for a short rest once tiredness kicks in after sightseeing. Very friendly and correct staff (but avoid to show up late for breakfast; see below). Check out at 11:00; even though we had been kindly allowed to extend. The lady at the breakfast buffet visibly had not been thrilled by us showing up at 11:00 (end of breakfast buffet) and had been hesitant to serve breakfast "a la carte" even though it is mentioned as an option on the list of services. Best solution, also in terms of quality: take breakfast outside at one of the numerous cafes.
Ideal loaction with parking facilities. The satff were excellent & the restaurant extremely good.
I liked how they preserved the original building and in addition put an interesting addition. Breakfast was good and reasonably priced. Parking was great. Neat decoration with artwork throughout the building. Loved the super-modern design, but the bathroom setup was a little awkward as the door to the shower shared the same door as to the toilet. not for those who like 100% privacy in the toilet.
Excellent, quiet location in the old town. Quality fittings, very modern decor style combined with old buildings worked well. Excellent (if quite expensive) restaurant. Breakfast was very good. Staff friendly and helpful. Secure parking garage a boon. No
very neat design. felt very modern and boutique-y. parking ample and secure. hotel staff very friendly.
The Arthotel has a very central location in the city centre, only 5min walking from the main square. We had a "comfort" room which was spacious and stylishly modern. If you like a modern, taut design, this hotel is certainly worth staying at. The wifi connection was €10 euro extra and wasn't functioning properly.
the simplicity of the room very basic for the price
Recently renovated house, clean and spacious rooms, good location, garage, friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is a bit more expensive than some of its neighbours.
Excellent bright modern room but with classic style in a really good modernisation of an old building. Fantastic modern bathroom. Excellent breakfast at a reasonable price. Good bar. Very friendly and helpful staff with excellent english. Location just about perfect.
the high cost of the breakfast
Stylish hotel, with very friendly, attentive staff, well located close to the Altstadt. Very much recommended, a great experience.
Comfortable room; historic location; interesting history of the Hotel
the location was perfect for exploring Heidelberg, we were only a short walk from Old town, the castle and a great spot to watch the fire works, the room was spacious
The hotel was quite lovely with a very historic atmosphere.
Wonderfully spacious accomodation that quickly felt like home and not a hotel. Family run with an English born lady part of the family made conversing in english simple, but there again everybody spoke english. Great food too! Could not fault it
Helpful, friendly and professional staff. Attractive exterior and dining area. Small shabby rooms with tired decor, peeling wallpaper, and noisy plumbing. Ceiling cladding more in keeping with an inner city council estate than a "luxury hotel" which this is not. Extremely over priced for this standard of room especially as breakfast cost an extra 22 Euros per head.
The relaxing environment, the hotel setting, its close proximity to the town, the atmosphere
Beautiful welcoming, impressive family suite well decorated and with character, excellent dinner in the garden with efficient service. A great experience overall ! Just a little slack with breakfast, as there were much more customers that they had planned, so refill of buffet was not perfect, as the rest was.
It was close to the main part of the city and access to parking was very good directions to the hotel were difficult. We were told to turn, on a foot bridge to get to the hotel. When driving a car this makes it difficult
View from our window of the heidelberg castle Very difficult to find the entrance to the hotel as it is part of the funicular entrance and also a parking garage. a very nice elderly lady was kind enough to actually take us to the elevator that leads to the seventh floor which is where the hotel is located. bathroom a little small, as was the room, but comfortable.
The location was fantastic - right in the Old Town, and the staff were very pleasant. The only slight negative was that the breakfast was a bit limited - something hot would have been nice, but what was available was good.
central position in the city on the roof of a P-garage
Visited the Heidelberg castle which is just a walk away, and attended many pubs and restaurants in the very busy market nearby
Comfortable rooms, very helpful staff and excellent breakfasts. The need to pick up a key from another hotel after 11pm was a little strange, but in fact went very smoothly.
Wonderful location in walking distance of everything. The room was very functional with great views. The staff were very helpful. Highest recommendation!
Only that one was forced to take the elevator to get to the hotel, plus the fact that one had to park in the parking garage which was fairly expensive.
The all-you-can-eat breakfast is the best! Variety and fresh! The room was large, nicely decorated, plenty of hot water even when using the bath and shower at the same time. The pillows and comforters were fluffy and warm. There were times when I would have preferred to adjust the room temperature to warmer room temperatures, but heating was adequate.
It is in the city center. The hotel was nice just for a good night of sleep, but at 7 a.m. on a Sunday morning, a very repetitive noise (as a vacuum cleaner) just started like if it was near to our ears. When we talked to the person at the reception, she just ignore our complain and was not able to understand where the noise was coming from. Finally, from the review at Booking.com, the hotel was rated as Very Good, therefore I was expecting much more. I would just rate it with a small o.k.!
