Pros: Klaas was an excellent host! With very helpful tips!
Pros: Really enjoyed my stay at the De Rede BnB! Klaas was a great host and made my stay extra special with his friendly down to earth character. Thanks again for the memorable Friesland experience. Cheers :) Jon
Pros: Klaas (Owner) made our stay extremely comfortable with extra information and special service (wine, water, towels, special requests).
Cons: Would be nice to have a refrigerator in the room. But we managed without it.
Pros: Klaas is very friendly and available for any requests, it was really like at home. Breakfast was good and rich. Defenetly to be recommended :)
Pros: Positive: Beautiful place. Super Friendly host. Nice Breakfast. Neutral: Strange noise at the lobby, 1st floor. A deep buzz which came up regularly every 30 min.
Pros: We felt incredibly welcome at Under de Wol. The family did a great job creating this cozy B&B in a very calm and relaxing environment. They even borrowed us some bikes for free so we were able to discover the surrounding villages and offered some Oliebollen for New Years.
Pros: Spacious room, very clean. Very quiet environment, comfortable bed, breakfast OK
Cons: Too much light pollution at night, TV receiver could be better calibrated. np big deals of course.
Pros: Beautiful clean appartment in the middle of the green Friesland weilanden.
Pros: Great spacious rooms with lots of modern touches. Farmhouse style. Lovely breakfast! Friendly staff.
Cons: Not enough towel hooks in the bathrooms and small towels.
Pros: Super place to stay family very welcoming breakfast was delightful and rooms amazing, cannot wait to return
Pros: Super cozy place in the country side. The whole place is very modern and comfortable. Having the sheep just outside for breakfast was really cool
Pros: rural tranquility friebdly landlord couple
Cons: owner had underestimated multitude of mosquitos and not tamen appropriate (hor) measures. Availability of private sun umbrella would have been nice during hot period
With a stay at B&B Pension Perruque in Koudum, you'll be in a shopping district, within a 15-minute drive of IJsselmeer and Hindeloopen Fountain. Featured amenities include express check-in, express check-out, and complimentary newspapers in the lobby. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The owners give 110% in everything they do. Everybody is received as family or better. The whole atmosphere is very inviting and there are many public areas where you can relax, inside and outside. Bike rental is available, both under own power and electric. You can boot boat excursions at Le Perruque too! We happened to end up in the smallest room in this unique location - a former police station, but it was still comfortable with excellent shower facilities and even a small balcony. The people of Koudum are amazing! While coming from the train station, looking for Le Perruque, we asked for directions because it started to rain. The man, Peter, opened up the doors of his van, threw in the suitcase and drove us to our destination! When asking for a taxi, later in the supermarket, the girl wanted to call one for us right away. Great experience!
Cons: Le Perruque is all about environment, green, which is very recommendable. One result of that was that the pillow cases were a bit coarse (At least that's what I thought). The view from the room was not great, but once outside on the bicycle it was awesome. Since it's farm country, we woke up twice with the smell of natural fertilizer, but that too, blew off fast.
Pros: B&B very nice and we'll maintained
Pros: * Absolutely nice and friendly hosts in a very clean accommodation. * Very extensive breakfast including coffee, tea, cocoa, ..., fresh juices, eggs in all variants, fruit salad, cereals, etc. * Soft drinks, coffee, cocoa, alcohol, etc. available at manageable prices - all day long * Excellent feel-good atmosphere. * Parking on the property in front of the house.
Cons: * Our room was spacious enough for two people with little luggage. For a longer stay we would have wished for a larger one * For breakfast, pancakes, fried eggs, etc are offered. The smells are distributed in the room and unfortunately also on the clothes.
Pros: The hosts were very kind. The room was small - too small - but thanks to the helpful and caring hosts we'll never forget our stay there. Breakfast was delicious.
Pros: The hosts Janny and Nico were very welcoming and proved us with many good ideas for the area. The hallway and the room doors are neatly decorated like a old police station - which the building used to be a while ago. The room insides also have a police station touch but just enough so you don't feel like your in jail :-) We can only speak for our room - which was the smallest we were told - but still was just fine. It had a a toilet and shower in an on suite and the sink was in the main room. The little balcony was a nice feature and the door had a screen to keep bugs out and a latch to keep it open 'a little'. The breakfast was delicious and there was plenty with a choice of fresh made - by Nico - pancakes or fried eggs. A variate of cereals, buns (and even home made bread), boiled eggs, cold cuts, fruit and vegetables summed up to a great breakfast in a very nice breakfast room with glass roof and enough space for everyone - including wheelchairs (big battery ones). All in all the Bed and the Breakfast were just as great as the Hosts and the rooms. We will definitely stay here again when visiting the area.
Cons: Nothing, everything was perfect.

Pros: Very kind the staff
Cons: Too hot During the summer there isn't refrigerating system and the bedroom is very very hot.
Pros: Location was great
Cons: Steep stairs and up and down steps
Pros: The breakfast is fantastic: every day a different 3-course home made meal.
Pros: We cannot put in words how perfect our weekend was. Super clean, super friendly (they remembered not only our names, but even our dog's name!), very cosy decoration of an antique cafe with more than 100 years history. You can see that it is not just a business, it is a passion. Their breakfast is incredible and different every day. We stayed for dinner one night and had an amazing private restaurant experience with great food. The surrounding is great for hiking and biking: it has forests, lakes, endless fields, birds, old and new windmills, stones from ice age etc.
Pros: Breakfast was really something special and a pleasant change from the usual breakfast buffet you get at other places. Very friendly hosts. Nicely decorated lounge and comfortable room.

Pros: Great location, facility and breakfasts
Pros: Our friends were in a room upstairs and it was gorgeous. The sitting area was beautiful as well.
Cons: Our room, for the same price, was half the size and not nearly as nice. The owner had a little bit of an irritated attitude with us.

A flat-screen TV with satellite channels is offered. Cycling and canoeing can be enjoyed nearby. The nearest airport is Groningen Eelde Airport, 115 km from the holiday home.
Pros: Ideal for a couple that would like a quiet break
Pros: Amazing find! Right on the water. A cozy little flat. The bed (both sides were adjustable!) was so comfy, we slept for 10 hours after our flight. A shower like I have never seen. Yummy coffee, a little fridge, free parking and the highest speed internet I have ever used. Highly recommend!
Cons: You have to change channels on the TV manually - but that is really a small issue. Everything was perfect.
Pros: Very comfortable, easy to find, parking in front, right across the dike from the swim beach.
Cons: Spiders ! Spiders everywhere !
Pros: The room is very cozy and confortable, with modern gadgets for the tv and adjustable bed. The bathroom is very clean and brand new, with huge shower. The hosts are really nice and helpful and send us an e-mail before our arrival with all needed information. We were travelling by car and we had a private parking spot right in front of the place, which is a plus. Highly recommended!
Pros: Fabulous location in great little town. Very comfortable, high quality fittings throughout.
Cons: No door on the bathroom. This meant you couldn't go to the loo and have privacy if somone else used the kitchen at the same time.
Pros: Access to the seaside, very comfy bed, privacy and the shower.
Pros: Very beautiful and nice tiny house.
Cons: We missed a table with 2 chairs.
Pros: I loved having my own tiny house. The bed was big and comfy, free parking right next to the house, the sea just a stone's throw away, luxury bathroom, lovingly decorated- just a wonderful place. The owners were great and made sure everything was to my liking and I felt very welcome there. I really felt like their guest.

Pros: Communications with the staff, they will help you with anything.
Pros: We liked everything about our stay. The location (if you are visiting the area) is great. It’s very cozy and the owners made a delicious breakfast for us! Recommended!
Pros: Room made in a shed. Clean and suitable for stay but very modest.
Cons: The price is high compared to the environment.
In Hotel Restaurant Jans Rijs you can enjoy the nature of the 'Rijsterbos', which is part of the national landscape 'Gaasterland'. This area is perfect for those who love hiking and biking. Pros: I have stayed here before and really liked it but previously stayed in the little bungalows. This time I had a room in the newly renovated main house and it was just wonderful! Top marks!
Cons: No complaints whatsoever!
Pros: breakfast was good, dinner also, staff very friendly and efficient. bathroom good, with amenities and separate shower and bath.
Cons: no wifi in the room; curtain didn't cover the full window, price higher than we normall pay for more comfort, so value for money not as expected
Pros: Lovely host and wonderful breakfast. Perfect for our brief visit to the area.
Pros: Very Nice Staff, breakfast and Restaurant. Free Parking. Easy checkin and checkout
Pros: Large, very comfortable room. Friendly welcome. Excellent food in the restaurant.
Cons: One night the restaurant was very full and service was slow.
Pros: The staff is very friendly and the location is beautiful. They have a great outdoor terrace and the restaurant is good. We really enjoyed the dinner there.
Cons: The rooms that say "Garden View" are actually little and very dated cabins in the garden of the hotel, which we didn't realise when booking (garden view doesn't really say that). They're very cheaply build and in serious need of modernisation. Flushing the toilet and washing your hands will definitely wake up everyone asleep in the cabin. There were dirt marks on the sheets and both the mattress and the pillows have had more than their fair share of usage. Charging over 100 euros is seriously excessive.
Pros: My friends and I had dinner in the garden on Saturday evening and it was beyond excellent! I had the lamb cutlets and goulash as a main and it was the best cooked, most tender lamb I've ever had - and I've eaten a lot of lamb in my 56 years! My friends had the haddock and proclaimed it delicious and we shared the mango sorbet and ice cream for pud which was equally amazing! Well done Hotel Jans!
Cons: Absolutely nothing. The staff, the level of cleanliness, the setting.....everything was perfect!

Pros: Typical Dutch hotel. Very friendly efficient service to a high standard.
Cons: On issues
Pros: Staff, location and food was very good
Cons: Television and fruit flavoured tea bags if I’m being very picky
Pros: The food was good
Cons: Everything was fine
Pros: Cosy rooms with balcony, friendly staff, extravagant included breakfast, coffee/tea in room, comfortable sleep, right on main street, good lighting, enough electric sockets
Pros: Comfortable, clean, quiet room in middle of village with popular pub, and restaurant. Wonderful breakfast. Easy to find. Only 6 rooms so usually soldout in summer.
Pros: I go every year with my dad, who was born in the area but has lived in England for 40 years. I love this little place, staff are amazing, food and the location brilliant-second to none!!!
Pros: The breakfast was wonderful, all kinds of delicious sorts of bread/croissants/raisin bread/baked buns and other delicious breakfast things like yoghurt and muesli. After check in we sat outside and had a drink. Lovely place to stay! Balk is a quaint town.
Cons: Because of the heat wave that had been going on the temperature in the room was sky high! We had to sleep with windows wide open and ventilator on. Maybe they could have aired the rooms before we arrived. It was like sleeping in a sauna. Beds were comfy!
When you stay at Hotel de Vrouwe van Stavoren in Stavoren, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of IJsselmeer. The front desk is staffed during limited hours.
Pros: Really comfy bed
Pros: Amazing town and great food at restaurant
Cons: Shame about the rain
Cons: 1. Photos of this place are misleading, as all of them are showing the Wine Barrel rooms. The standard hotel rooms are not these ones, be aware of this. 2. It's written in the booking conditions that Parking is free, which means for them that we have to search for it and it's our problem if we find it or not. There were 5 car spots in front of the hotel that were always taken. 3. We went on second Christmas Day so a lot of restaurants in the town were closed (including the Hotel's restaurant) It would be nice to be informed in advance about this, when asking for tips regarding dinner they were fruitless as some were closed and another we would be able to go in, they did not have meal for us and we had to drive 80Kms total to have dinner in the town Sneek. There was passive-agressive feedback to simple questions such: Q - "Is the restaurant open?" A - "We are 50 people in the restaurant in the summer and in winter we need a break" Q - "What time is the checkout? A - "As soon as possible" In a few words - Lack of staff empathy, friendliness and sensibility
Pros: The atmosphere was amazing. We loved the little town. We would definitely go back there again if the opportunity came about. The rooms were so unique. We would recommend this hotel! The staff were super friendly and incredibly helpful (needed the menu translated).
Cons: Cannot think of a thing.
Pros: Luxury bathroom. Big bath & shower.
Cons: The scrambled egg was from a carton. It didn't taste as good as real eggs.
With a stay at Galamadammen Hotel Restaurant Jachthavens in Koudum, you'll be on the waterfront, within a 10-minute drive of IJsselmeer and Hindeloopen Fountain. Featured amenities include a computer station, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and dry cleaning/laundry services. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Location was fabulous, and dinner on the terrace was excellent.
Pros: Nothing really. Rooms are larger than average.
Cons: Hôtel is worn out. Dirty carpets. Housekeeping disastrous. No manager (sick leave). Birdnests generate loads of droppings on windows. No airco. Charge for dog, without notice.
Pros: The welcome. The room. The food. The service.
Cons: Nothing. This hotel is perfect.
Pros: Location. Size of rooms. Location. Attitude to pets. Location.
Cons: Hard to think of anything.
Pros: Spacious rooms, swimming pool excellent terrace on the waterfront, beautiful location. Breakfast was sumptuous, lots of choices and freshly made, in a modern set-up. Staff slightly harsh so early in the morning...
Cons: Outdated furniture and upholstering. Choice of veggie options for dinner = exactly 1 (mixed vegetables ordered instead, which came with ham on top ;-(. Soup and sauce came with a thick coating, evidence that it has not been served fresh, but probably kept warm under a lamp. Complicated and impersonal ordering system, with an iPad, technically sound, but my preference would be to have a chat with staff who can recommend something. Admittedly, a very busy day for the staff, but service and quality of food in the restaurant was quite poor.
Pros: Clean and comfortable
Cons: Daily taxes Expensive
With a stay at Hotel Boschlust in Oudemirdum, you'll be on the beach, within a 15-minute drive of IJsselmeer and D.F. Wouda Steam Pumping Station. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Bed was good
Pros: The breakfast was okay.
Cons: The toilet was not in our room. It was on the other side of the passage. The bedding was not the same and the towels was very old. It was very expensive for what we got.
Pros: the staff, the food.
Cons: one room had toilet in de hallway, room above the kitchen is hot. many flies.
Pros: We had one of the garden suites. These are spacious and quiet. Nice breakfast and very friendly staff
Cons: The details at the time of booking were not taken up properly at booking.com so we had some rearranging to do on arrival.
Pros: good breakfast - nice terrace to have a drink - friendly and helpful staff
With a stay at Boerderij Welgelegen Bed en Breakfast in Harich, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of IJsselmeer and D.F. Wouda Steam Pumping Station. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: A very quite place to stay, close to Balk with restaurants, such as Golden River Chinese Restaurant. we also can us this area and explore Fryslan.
Cons: Mosquito was in the room.
Pros: Nice vintage entrance, reception area, lounge, dinning room and grounds. Comfortable and reasonably spacious room. Very convenient for traveling by bike. Nice breakfast.
Cons: Harich and Balk are a little out of the way.
Pros: The location is great along with the nice patio/terrace areas. The rooms are outdated, but clean.
Cons: It is obvious that there is not money being spent on upkeep. The beds sagged and are old. While we were there when it is hot, my request for a fan was greeted with a response, "We're all hot"--no effort made to make sure the guests are comfortable. Same with the request for a screen for the only window in the family room. We were covered in mosquito bites.
Pros: Parking lot Old house entrance
Cons: Older rooms Very steep stairs Not clean rooms Very little children’s room, a closet Full with mosquitoes Personnel was not really welcoming Breakfast was simple for this price
Pros: We loved the location. Near Lemmer, Stavoren and Hindeloopen, so a lot of sight seeing possibilities. The breakfast was just right for the price. Friendly staff.
Cons: Not Applicable.
Pros: The cushoins were particularly comfortable.
Cons: It was cold - the heating was apparently just turned on (16.00) but when w arrived back in the evening the roon was not warm. The facilities in the room - coffe making and especially bathroom were megere to non exsitant.
Pros: Beautiful old Dutch farmhouse/barn converted into a small and comfortable hotel. Excellent accommodation, relaxed atmosphere and welcoming staff. Breakfast is a great social experience at long tables. Lovely quiet situation just outside Balk.
When you stay at Hotel de Stadsboerderij in Hindeloopen, you'll be on the beach, just steps from Hindeloopen Fountain and 5 minutes by foot from IJsselmeer. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The staff couldn't do enough for you. Helpful, friendly, the works. The rooms, which are situated in an old farmhouse, were spotlessly clean. The beds were comfortable and staff had taken the heat into consideration and had given us light bedding with duvets in the wardrobe if you needed them and a fan in each room to keep you cool. As one if us couldn't walk that far, Kees and his wife, the hotel owners, had kindly offered to provide transport to/from the station. Big thank you for that. Foppie layed out a beautiful and fresh buffet breakfast every morning with different types of bread, cheese, sandwich meats, serials, yoghurts, freshly boiled eggs (still warm), fresh fruit, coffee, tea, milk and fruit juices. For your lunches/evening meals you can just pop next door to 'Eetcafe de Brabander' where you are greated by the lovely Henky and chef husband (whose name has slipped my mind). They have a nicely varied menu and serve generous and very tasty meals. Everyone at hotel De Stadsboerderij and Eetcafe De Brabander next door, the people of Hindeloopen and its authentically beautiful and sereen surroundings, could not have done more/been better for our trip down memory lane. See you again soon!
Cons: There wasn't anything we didn't like.
Pros: Everything was perfect. The room was really cosy and quiet. A such lovely place near the water...
Cons: Nothing ! Everything was perfect !
Pros: It was convenient and centrally located in the town. The building itself had a lot of character and the staff was very helpful
Cons: The rather small room could have used a little more ventilation and the windows were not the cleanest but they were in a difficult location to clean thoroughly and often.
Pros: Great location b&b to visit the town. Easy free parking nearby if the couple of spaces on site full. Attached pub, though we ate elsewhere. Breakfast was good.
Cons: Inclined ceiling in the room due to roof apex.
Pros: Good location, lovey resaurant next door. Staff very helpful. Owner drove us to station.
Cons: Okay place, close to the beach and center. Nothing fancy, good for a night or two.
Pros: We did not have the breakfast, we felt that a breakfast of breads and toppings with a boiled egg was not worth 10 Euros each. The lady in the breakfast room (who we had to check out with as well) was friendly when I asked for coffee for our room.
Cons: There was no one at the hotel for check in, we had to go to the bar next door (owners were away on vacation?) There was no coffee maker in our room (that is stated on the hotel info) but when I mentioned that to the lady in the breakfast room and asked to take coffee to our room, she was good with that. The shower was not clean (hair on the bottom :( ) The bed was two twins put together and were so soft you almost rolled off.
Pros: Staff was friendly, helpful and professional. My room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast buffet was very nice. This is a charming hotel.
Pros: The breakfast buffet was standard European fare. Plenty of food for all.
Cons: The end of season access into and out of the hotel was a bot confusing at first. Once we figured it out, all was good.
