10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room, thought of everything you might need. Great location
Cons: Liked everything
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The food, it was amazing
Cons: The small bed
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Accommodation comfortable spotlessly clean with a touch of luxury. Restaurant comfortable with quality offer, Dinner:extended choice of meals and pricing, Breakfast:fabulous choice (largest offer I have seen in many years of travelling the UK). All the staff we met had a professional ‘glad to be of service’ attitude. No self service here, as an excellent table service was given with smiles all round. All too good to be true.... try it....it’s 5 star.
Cons: On this overnight stay, my wife and I have only praise for the Crown Pub, Dining and and Rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Would have been nice to help yourself to fruit juice and cereal but not an option as there was nothing to get yourself. Dark room also.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfasts, staff helpful and friendly. Comfortable bed, good shower, plenty of hot water and towels. As it was a pub, it was good to have a room across the courtyard, away from the bar.
Cons: A few late drinkers were quite noisy on Friday night outside until late, but they were gone by 11.30.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ideal location for my head office within 20 mins of Sandy. Really nice pub with collection of rooms within a single storey annex within the gardens. Exceptionally well presented with large, light & airy bedroom including tv, coffee machine & kettle, fridge with fresh milk & water. Large modern bathroom with walk in shower and Clarins toiletries. Restaurant in pub serving modern and really tasty menu with friendly and professional staff. Cannot recommend highly enough! Will definitely use this place regularly when in the area.
Cons: Only complaint would be breakfast not starting until 7.30 which was way too late for me to be able to benefit sadly as I'd imagine it's a great way to start the day based on the evening meal I had!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was our first night away together for nearly 10 years, I booked it for 16th anniversary. It was everything I could have wished for, the room was clean and very comfortable, the pub/restaurant was warm and welcoming as were the staff. We had a wonderful time and will stay here again when we can.
Cons: The only draw back was that there was no milk in the room for my partner to have a cup of tea in the morning, not a big deal as breakfast was included.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Food is always amazing
Cons: No gym had to go road running but I know there wasn’t one
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room decor
Cons: The service at dinner with family was very slow though they did apologize and gave us complimentary garlic bread.!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Food and rooms
Cons: Breakfast is only served from 7.30 and is often slow so I didn’t take breakfast even though it was included

Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. Bathroom door tricky to open without hitting the toilet. Shower was fabulous, good size towels. Nice biscuits to go with our cuppa. Excellent parking. Close to several nice pubs. Shefford was a pleasant place to visit with a lovely cafe.
Cons: Not being able to have breakfast due to the sausage cut off time! (Short period of time in which to take breakfast.) Checkout was a tad early, at 10:00hrs especially with check in not being until 16:00hrs.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room was lovely. Shower was good. We didn't hear any flights, good soundproofing. Check in and out was easy.
Cons: The restaurant and bar combined, along with the choice of music, which was a thump thump bass beat. Food a little overpriced for what you get.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Good room, shower, bed. Restaurant and bar was friendly and staff attentive and helpful.
Cons: Room too cold, poor control over environment. ANNOYING TV when entering room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole place was clean and comfortable. We just needed somewhere to stay overnight ahead of our early flight and this place was great.
Cons: We had a very early flight and had to wait at a bus stop at 4.23am to get the bus to the airport. Not a massive deal as the bus was on time and it was a short journey but we'd assumed it was closer. At that time of the morning we were in no state to walk!
6.5 Good
Pros: The bed was comfortable.
Cons: This is an airport hotel with no airport shuttle; we had tape holding up the shower head;and the chiller in lobby not working. The staff were really nice.
Pilgrims Progress - Bedford - Building
4
9.0 Excellent (1,681 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Pilgrims Progress in Bedford, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of St. Paul's Church and Bedford Park. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, an elevator, and coffee/tea in a common area.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great rooms in this hotel. Very good service from all of the staff, cannot be faulted
Cons: The article in the Wetherspoon's Autumn magazine entitled 'The Eu Debate both sides' Tim has invited a journalist from the spectator to discuss the remain side and Journalist from the Telegraph to put the leave case. BUT over the top of each piece is a shouty headline from Tim rubbishing the first one as an 'oxbridge remainer' and disagreeing with the second arguing for leaving with a deal. Finally Tim has turned into Al Murray's 'Pub Landlord' and is shouting his own Brexit opinions at us all, whether we want it or not. Best to stick o running Pubs & hotels, Tim, you seem to know what your doing with that. White wine for the Lady, anyone?
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We liked the helpfulness of all the staff. Nothing was too hard for them. This is unusual because I can't fault a bloody thing!!! Normally faults or imperfections slap you in the face and sometimes you give them a good rating because it's being too picky but 7 days in this hotel and we couldn't fault service, the meals. The meals for breakfast, lunch and tea are around 50% less than any other hotel we have stayed at over the last 3 weeks. As you open their front door, you see the place and it shows that management know what they are doing and their staff are doing a brilliant job.
Cons: Not being able to find any faults over a 7 day period.
7.9 Good
Pros: Comfortable room with clean towels everyday. Reasonably quiet considering it's location above a busy pub. Right on the edge of the town centre with everything easily accessible
Cons: A/C was not always working
10.0 Excellent
Pros: liked the fact I don't have to pay for a breakfast I don't want (working until 3.00 am!) But on my day off it was excellent
Cons: could not work out heating in room
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Room was delightful on the 3rd floor, spacious, wonderful bed. I use my hotspot as I do not like to use the cloud for work internet. Perfect bathroom. Two nice bottles of water every day. Window opens a little so fresh air. Towel heater worked well for hand washables. Quiet. Nice staff. Friendly welcome. Easy card safe lift. Altogether very pleased.
Cons: I don't eat at the Wethersppon restaurant as I am uncomfortable with ordering at the bar and waiting in line there, no organized queue and no ones guides you. I did try for supper on the last night and waited nearly 15 minutes and when it was my turn she said I have to have a table number (even though I wanted takeaway) I was away 20 seconds to look at a table right there and when I turned around she was serving someone else so I left. During my first stay I waited at a table 20 minutes with wait people passing and finally I said, I would like to order, and they pointed down a very very very long room to what I could see were a few people.

7.5 Good
Pros: Lovely old quirky building. Fantastic room with very comfortable bed. Quiet and peaceful location. Close to town centre. Great drinks selection at bar. The bar nibbles we ate were scummy.
Cons: Wobbly toilet seat in ensuite. Slow draining shower tray over flowed. We didn't get a parking place and on street parking was chargeable with a 2 hour limit. Old menu in room. Breakfast service a bit confused and not all items available, also had to ask for items to be refilled.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The food, the staff, and the quality of the renovation work

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Slightly quirky but very comfortable rooms with a lively pub/restaurant on the ground floor. Good choice of tasty food and excellent breakfast.
6.3 Good
Pros: The look of the rooms were beautiful and the beds were very comfy.
Cons: The lack of gluten free on the breakfast menu, the mould in the shower, and the dirty towel in my room on arrival. On my second week on the night of my arrival shower flooded after emptying bath and the room smelt of sewage so had to move rooms.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great style, staff and food. Will definitely stay again.
Cons: Was woken at 630 by the dining room below our room being set up for breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stayed in Double Chocolate room really lovely room comfy bed & great power shower. Excellent food with breakfast included. Would definitely stay again & have no hesitation in recommending D’Parys.
Cons: Being very picky but there was nowhere to hang hand towels or plug in shaver/ toothbrush & could do with extra light over hand basin to do makeup. Wasn’t an issue loved the excellently designed room.
7.9 Good
Pros: Garden, breakfast, room, baths
Cons: Bed too soft Noisy early on a Sunday- a generator plus bottles being thrown into a bin
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Spacious room and loved the deep in-room bath! The breakfast was excellent in quality and quantity and the surroundings really welcoming and comfortable. Staff were also friendly and helpful.
Cons: The bed was comfortable but rather creaky, although I think that’s something you accept with period furniture.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hotel overall. Liked the big bath in the bedroom
Cons: Some of the lights were not working properly in the room. And unfortunately we had noisy neighbours who kept us awake until 4am with there loud talking....

Pros: The location was ideal for where I was working the following day (across the street). Food was excellent. Staff were great, friendly and willing to help. Room was comfy and clean. There was very little noise, but they had put me in a quiet section of the hotel. Overall, if I find myself in Luton again, I will definitely stay here.
Cons: There was nothing not to like. I suppose the car parking seems a bit limited, but I could get in. The evening menu might not suit you if you don't like Italian food, but really there is nothing at all to complain about.

Pros: Quiet, clean, friendly helpful staff, everything I needed for a short stay - toiletries, great hair dryer, cotton sheets, tea/coffee. I didn't want to leave! Thanks to you all. I'll definitely book again.
Cons: Only one small gripe - if you could you fit a wider shower screen over the bath (in room 100) it would be perfect! The water pressure is great, but it splashes all over the floor!
10.0 Excellent

Cons: A number of facilities not working eg steam room out of service, 3 gym machines not working
6.0 Good
Pros: The bed was very comfortable and room size was generous. We felt like there was sufficient space for two adults and one toddler, even when he slept in bed with us. The indoor pool was great for kids.
Cons: Although they are considered kid friendly, the kids meals were never prioritised! Some of us were waiting over 45 minutes for kids meals to arrive, only to find that it was the wrong item ordered. Breakfast was okay, but pastries weren’t great.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: - Pet friendly - Beautiful building with beautiful rooms and beautiful gardens
Cons: - The kitchen is just regular - We had to queue for the breakfast because the room is too small - We had to reserve even for the 5 o clock tea hours in advance

9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff were all excellent- friendly and welcoming. Very nice breakfast. Peaceful and quiet location
Cons: Whilst everywhere was clean, comfortable and tidy, the decor and decoration needs updating and some minor maintenance in places.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location is great for Luton Airport. Set in a nice location with a park. Good parking right in front of the house. Nice selection at breakfast. Bathroom newly renovated. Staff helped us with our luggage.
Cons: It's a little noisy at night. You can hear the floors creak, doors closing. But it's ok. It's a nice old house after all. The carpet in the room seemed a little old.
4.6 Okay
Pros: The location was good for my meeting and the setting of the hotel is lovely. Quick Wifi.
Cons: The room was 'grubby' heavily stained carpet, broken mirror (not a recent one as there was dirt in the crack) broken door on the wardrobe, dirty armchairs int he room and foyer upon arrival, dusty lamps, paint peeling off the window frames, window banging in the night due to the wind had to stuff toilet paper in the gap to stop this, bed was too firm, lock on the door didn't work, over use of bleach in the toilet stung my eyes. Lack of options for breakfast and staff didn't seem to care or have much customer service, when i told the lady on checkout about the room she couldn't have cared less. I paid £115 for a superior room and had high expectations of the property going on previous comments but i was disappointing by the whole experience.

Cons: Food in restaurant
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very close walk to the airport. Breakfast in the morning was good.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was better than I expected! Very clean and friendly staff
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location, nicely decorated, very convenient
Cons: Dinner poetic was very small
5.4 Okay
Pros: Location good - walking distance from the airport. Dinner selection was good and value for money.
Cons: We were put in a disabled room which was great for size but... there was a very bright green light over the door which illuminated the whole room and couldn't be dimmed. Also the air conditioning wouldn't work in the evening apart from cold air. We had to have it turned off and the room was still cold all night. Neither of these things were great for sleeping. We did speak to reception and they offered to move us but by then we were unpacked and the children were asleep. We were told because we had asked for a cot this was the only room that they could put one in. This seemed quite strange as we have stayed in many hotels with cots and never had this happen before One thing at breakfast that was lacking was the choice of ham/cheese ie a continental option.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: the location was great as it was connected by a covered walkway to Terminal 4 making the early morning start for my flight much easier. Hotel room comfortable, breakfast buffet was nice too.
Cons: Nothing to add
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room was very decently sized, the breakfast was good, everything was very clean and for the price the stay was excellent.
Cons: Payment process was a little complicated... it seems that they don’t accept all international cards as mine was declined and my partner had to use his.

Pros: 10 mins walk to airport. Staff extremely helpful. Very quiet. Could not fault it. Definitely stay again if flying from Luton early in the morning.
4.6 Okay

5.4 Okay
Pros: Very nice room and bathroom
Cons: My duvet cover was dirty and had holes in it. When we went for breakfast at 9am it was difficult to get food. There was no baconand the last sausages went. Did eventually get some. Only a dribble of apple juice

5.8 Okay
Pros: Early breakfast start 0630. Air conditioning (but only useful in the warm months). Free plentiful parking. Quite a nice quiet room ( I had one at the front 1st floor).
Cons: Limited breakfast hot choices (no fried eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms or potato cakes). Lots of things in plastic sachets but the food quality was good. If you are paying your own bill, rather expensive for the services provided compared to other local 'budget' chains.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Generally the room and bathroom very goid
Cons: Poor amount and choice of fruit for breakfast
7.5 Good
Pros: Quick friendly service
Cons: cooked food for breakfast were a little underwhelming as they must have been in the standing hot dishes for too long
8.3 Excellent
Cons: Greasy breakfast

Pros: Great and plenty, very impressed
Cons: Weather
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic reception and comfortable overall with friendly staff
Cons: Not required
6.3 Good
Pros: It’s clean and comfortable .
Cons: I had to wait at reception for 15 minutes to check in and I was running late. Stood there with my bags and had to watch while a lad behind the bar served 8 pints and coke , and a couple other drinks . No one on reception desk . Prices are cheaper at weekdays than a Saturday night though - clearly you put price up due to getting busy to make a higher rack rate . But no incentive to stay at a weekend . No one on reception when I checked in and no one on Reception when I checked out. I have better stays there.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was lovely with everything I needed for an early start the next day. There is a restaurant and a bar and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable Recommended if you have an early flight.
Cons: It is a little bit of a distance from the railway station
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent value for money. The reception staff are unfailingly polite and helpful. Everywhere is very clean.
Cons: There was a kettle in the room (222), but no tea/coffee etc. Why? Car parking is a problem-never enough space. The ray operated bedroom taps are an irritant- I much prefer conventional taps.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is unique to its finest! The bed comes out of the wall, meaning before you put it down you have a sofa to sit on. The staff are on top par, I could not fault this hotel.
Cons: Parking is a little tight but that’s just down to the layout of the car park.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent interior hotel and room design
Cons: A bit further from the airport than I originally thought
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great for one night stay after a long day of travel - very comfortable.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff
Cons: Pull down bed
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good location for airport. The place was immaculately clean. Reception staff brilliant and even took us to our room. Wasn't expecting that for the price we paid. We had one of the super-small budget rooms with a pull down bed. Small but it was just fine for a stopover before an early flight. The shower was great and good toiletries included too. Other than the mattress being very hard this was perfect for our requirements.
Cons: The mattress was very hard and I struggled to get to sleep because of it. Parking spaces that were available were a bit tight.
7.5 Good
Pros: I spent there 2 nights and I have to say it went beyond my expectation. The staff was overall very friendly and helpful and breakfest was a treat I have enjoyed very much.
Cons: The room I got was smaller than bathroom in our house, so when I pulled the bed out of the wall I could not even sit at the table. The connection to the internet was out for most of my stay and the bathroom had a bad smell from the drain possibly. I booked also for the use of gym, which I have found out is even smaller than the room and contains 2 machines, that were occupied whenever I stepped in. The location of the hotel is not as great as it is 15 minute walk to the town center and you still need a cab to get to the airport.
7.5 Good
Pros: The staff member was lovely and super helpful. Rooms are very small with fold down beds. Price compensates and we were looking for an inexpensive location for a few short hours rest before an early morning start.
Cons: Couldn't complain about cleanliness, the room and reception were very clean although there was a slight damp, mouldy smell in our shower room - it was slight though, my partner didn't notice it! There is absolute minimal space in the room to move and store luggage when the bed is down. We put the chair in the shower to give us more usable floor space in the room!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was what we wanted
Cons: Just a bit warm in the room

Pros: The location was very good. The staff were professional and friendly. The room was a nice size and had good facilities. A great range of toiletries in the bathroom. Lovely bath. We had dinner and the food was excellent. The bar had a great, busy vibe.
Cons: The toilet was small compared to the great size of the bathroom which was very nice. Unfortunately, the shower strip on the shower door was not clean and needs attention.
8.8 Excellent
Cons: There was only one chair in the room. We shouldn.t have to take it in turn to sit dowith.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything spot on...... staff were first rate, rooms very modern, comfy bed, good shower. Excellent buffet breakfast. Good bar and outdoor seating area. I Standard rooms excellent value for money, wouldn't bother paying for deluxe (just get couple of beers in mini bars and slightly flasher bedroom furniture)
Cons: Nothing

The room came with all the amenities we needed such as a hairdryer, iron and toiletries. The bed was big and soft. The breakfast had plenty of choice.
Cons: It’s a large hotel and even though there were only a handful of other guests our room was a very long walk from the reception and dining areas.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and cleanliness
Cons: Not easy to find. No meals (only sandwiches) available on a Friday evening.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Leafy location. A choice of locations to eat. On site parking.
Cons: It would have been good to know that it was located in the university grounds.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: * Convenient for university-related business. * Very clean and comfortable.
Cons: * Old/noisy airconditioning (had to kept it off for sleeping)
4.2 Okay
Pros: Swimming pool was quiet and nice to have it with the hotel.
Cons: Our stay was extremely disappointing. Booked a room for 2 people - it was pretty much a university dorm room made for one person. The ‘double’ bed was more a large single, neither of us got a good nights sleep due it being uncomfortable and kept waking up hearing people slamming doors. Room was very small and cramped. The door handle to the bathroom was broken so couldn’t shut the door. We stayed for dinner, to which we were put on a desk table with some cutlery. The buffet had 2 choices of main and had clearly been sat out for hours. We had the Red Fish which is full of bones and scales. Extremely over priced! Staff were unaccommodating and asked if we were finished and told us to move to the bar. We felt like an inconvenience. Came away really dissatisfied and quite honestly still hungry. House keeping came about 9am to clean the room and slipped the bill under the door. This is the first time I’ve experienced this, I’ve always paid at reception on check out and this is how it should be done. All in all would NEVER stay here again. I wouldn’t even book here for business.
6.0 Good
Pros: The comfort of the bed with the duve
Cons: Nil
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful. everything except the internet was excellent.
Cons: The internet connection was difficult to obtain.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Room with a view.
Cons: False fire alarm at 01.30. Poor Internet.
7.1 Good
Pros: All very professional. (This is a management development centre so you would expect them to get the management right). Very good breakfast with extensive choice. I arrived early at breakfast and counted 7 service staff and management people and was asked 3 times if I wanted tea or coffee. Good air conditioned room but the compressor was so noisy I had to turn it off.
Cons: There was a fire alarm at 1.30am on my last night. Evidently false but no apology or explanation given. Bar food menu limited but restaurant menu expensive so I ate elsewhere. The restaurant has a 'semi-formal dress code' so draw your own conclusions. If you are alone, expect to be surrounded by people in large corporate groups there for various management and other courses. Car park tends to overflow if you arrive back late.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff excellent. Good facilities including a very warm pool. The breakfast was exceptionally good, with large selection of freshly prepared food. Would definitely stay again if in area.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean relaxed atmosphere attentive helpful and friendly staff. Located well for f1 at Silverstone just far enough out not to get snarled up in traffic.
Cons:

Pros: A space where you were held in your own piece of earth but equally shared. Lush
Cons: A chair was loose and needed some TLC
7.5 Good
Pros: Gorgeous place, beautiful location! Dog friendly and set up for us dog lovers, so we loved it!! Beautiful walks around... Set up for family and friends, you can sit and eat your meal in the communal area, where breakfast is served. No TV, but this didn't matter to us, as it was part of the echo living...
Cons: Getting woken up by drunk youths who were screaming and pushing their horns in the middle of the night. However, this is an issue with the historic church behind, which the echo fund are trying to sort. Can't fault them on that. No dinner available, as long as you don't mind the drive down the track to the nearest restaurant....

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean. Well kept. Staff very friendly
7.5 Good
Pros: All comfortable. We had little choice about location as we were late booking our stay in order to attend an air show. As a result we were happy with the George Hotel.
Cons: Difficult to say as we only stayed for a single night.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The whole experience was great. The room was beautiful, clean, and had everything we needed. Breakfast was yummy, from the freshly made croissants to the cooked breakfast. The staff were extremely helpful, polite and professional. I met Dwayne, Belinda and David, who all made our experience one to remember, especially Belinda who is an excellent face of the hotel.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was very nice. Modern and clean, everything we wanted for the stay.
Cons: There was one very big negative though. The room was very noisy. It sounded like an industrial extractor fan which came on in the evening and woke us up early in the morning.
7.9 Good
Pros: Rooms clean and nicely decorated. Beds comfy and tea and coffee readily available. Would stay again
Cons: No lift and lots of stairs. One room had the generator outside the window so very noisy
5.8 Okay
Pros: Chosen for the location. Bed comfortable. Cooked breakfast good
Cons: Room was noisy. Kitchen extractor very loud, went off ca 11 pm, but another machine was churning away for a couple more hours. Extractor came back ca 6am.Pillows very thin. Breakfast order not taken properly, we didn't get what we ordered. Fresh fruit on breakfast bar was bruised pears, hard apples and oranges. no prepared fresh fruit,or even grapefruit /dates in juice.
7.5 Good
Cons: Room 3 was very noisy due to the kitchen extraction. Extraction was on until 9.30pm and started again at 06.30am.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious bedroom
5.4 Okay
Pros: Beautiful location, a nice traditional building, functional / cosy room and a great breakfast.
Cons: Dirty carpets in the stairs and corridors leading to the room - not the nicest of welcomes. At exactly 7:30 am, you are woken up by what appears to be the sound of a Boeing 747 warming its engines on the runway. A little investigation revealed the noise to be from the kitchen extract fan. Having been partying the night before we were looking forward to a lay-in, but no chance.... We jumped out of bed in a foul mood, found that our friends in the other rooms had the same issue, and confronted staff at breakfast. Answer: "Yes, it's a problem, especially rooms 2, 3 and 5..." (they listed a few rooms - unfortunately I cannot remember all of them). Their excuse is that it is a listed building and the issue is difficult to cure. Nonsense: you can cure any structure and air borne noise with adequate antivibration pads and silencers. You just have to want to. I wanted to confront the manager in person - he apparently usually arrives at 11am. We said we'd wait 'til 11 and the staff informed him over the 'phone. So he changed his plan to arrive at 12. We didn't drop it and left a message asking the manager to call us. In fairness, he did, and offered to pay for the night cap drinks we enjoyed the night before. That was a nice thing to do, but please fix that fan!
7.9 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Staff a bit flat
