This was my second trip to Heron. The first, when it was owned by P and O, was an exceptional experience; the most recent trip was a nightmare. The food quality has PLUMMETED as has the restaurant service. Many items in the chafing dishes were inedible or close thereto. Canned fruit had replaced much of the fresh; green salad lettuces often had no dressings offered. The French toast one morning was burned black on one side but never replaced. No covers were placed on the desserts, allowing flies to crawl on the desserts and breads. Early diners at lunch got fed; late diners often found nothing left from which to choose (cold cut plates, for example, with nothing on them). The closest comparison I can bring to mind is school cafeteria fare. At almost $900 a night (room, food, transfers to the island), this was a miserable, miserable way to spend Christmas. STRONGLY ADVISE against going until new management corrects this abysmal situation on what should have been an island paradise.
