Pros: We loved everything about the Paardenhof Guesthouse! Delphine was a wonderful host and made us truly feel at home. The farm is beautiful, with horses, dogs, cats, ducks, chickens, and a goose, and the town of Esquelbecq is full of history.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Very quiet - and friendly and helpful host (Delphine). Great breakfast with boiled eggs from the farms own chickens.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hostess was just wonderful and helpful and gave us a very warm welcome with a nice glass of wine. Excellent breakfast and exceptionally clean rooms. The renovated stables were just beautiful to stay in. Very comfortable bed and we will be returning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a wonderful breakfast that we arranged and paid for after we arrived. Our host, Delphine, bent over backwards to ensure we were comfortable and welcome, even providing us a glass of wine to welcome us and recommending a restaurant, and making reservations, for dinner. Esquelbecq is sort of off the beaten path, but the setting of the property is just lovely. The remodeled stable where we were housed is a dream - just delightful. I was sorry we were only passing through on our way to the Normandy beaches from Netherlands.
Cons: Everything was great. No detail had been overlooked. We were very comfortable.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Delphine was exceptionally helpful and friendly. The accommodations was very good, clean and relaxing.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Clean, comfortable and classy. Host family wonderful.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful gem of a guest house in a wonderfully converted stable. The host, Delphine, was extremely warm and welcoming. We were offered complimentary cold drinks on arrival and made to feel immediately at home. The rooms were immaculately clean and comfortable. The location was great for Dunkirk and within walking distance (2km) to the memorial for the Wormhoudt massacre.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is quite close to Calais, an ideal first / last night from a big trip (we were on motorbikes, which were garaged for the night). The accommodation is a converted stable (on an active farm), which has been done to a very high standard. Its all very clean, and has a "communal area" with a well appointed kitchen, eating / lounge area. The character of the original building has been carried over in a unique way, combining old & new styles throughout. The breakfast was the best we had on a full tour of France. Although evening meals were not available, a very pleasant stroll into the nearby village had plenty of choice. Definitely one to remember for our next trip.
Cons: Hard to think of anything. It really is ideal for an overnight or a few days. Its a perfect location for using as a base to explore Northern France.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely setting. Looked after very well and good breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is my second stay with Delphine, and I already have two more visits booked. Delphine is very welcoming and helpful from the outset, from the welcome drinks to recommending local eateries and reserving tables, we cannot praise her enough.

Pros: We had the biggest room with a huge window, wonderful to see the sunset and garden. Super friendly welcome by owners and son. Shared table breakfast, great for meeting other guests. Free parking. Nice garden and woods. Good breakfast.
Cons: Our beautiful comfortable room was above the dining/breakfast/sittingroom. No soundproofing what made we could enjoy the conversations coming from downstairs.

Breakfast with fresh bread and croissants, homemade jams. Honey, cheese and butter all locally produced. Homemade fresh fruit cocktail delicious. Location very quiet and surroundings beautiful. Restaurant and bar 750 metres, other restaurants about 25 mins walk. Take torch as no street lights. Stephane couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful. Poperinge railway station 20 mins drive. Pros: The living room and the rooms were very cosy and very clean
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The welcome was unsurpassed - the owners couldn't have been more pleasant and we felt instantly at home. They even phoned a local restaurant for us and booked us a local estaminet where we had an excellent meal. Breakfast was amazing - local produce, cheese, home made jams, fresh bread, croissants, fruit salad and a log fire burning on a relatively cool morning. Lovely neighbourhood and very relaxing ambience. We loved it and fully intend to come back.
Cons: Only negative is that it is not easy to walk to the local eating places if you want to eat out for an evening meal. That would not put us off though!

8.8 Excellent
Pros: A well located and welcoming hotel. Our room was excellent with plenty of space and character. We especially liked the residents lounge on the first floor. The evening meal was excellent. Breakfast was a bit unexciting but OK, the breakfast room is a little cramped.
Cons: Our room could have been better prepared as there was left over snack food in one of the wardrobes.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the second floor bedroom, which was beautiful. Spacious, comfy, luxurious, it was everything we wanted. Breakfast had a good range of choices and everything was plentiful. We were made to feel welcome throughout our stay. We ate in the restaurant one evening and on the coast in Belgium on the second night as it is so near.
Cons: English language satellite channels would have been nice.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Our room was delightful. Our hostess described it as the wedding room. We were able to use a side room which had tea/coffee facilities with cakes and biscuits. Our room very comfortable and spacious. We were also able to partake of a complementary glass of port. Huge bathroom complete with a dressing table and robes. Breakfast was served in a lovely salon overlooking the garden. Fresh bread and croissants are excellent and also available fruit, boiled eggs, cereal and preserves. The hotel has its own restaurant.
Cons: Nothing to add. Shame we didn't have longer to look around the town ramparts.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I’ve been staying at Bienvenue Chez Nous for many years and it never disappoints. Jean Pierre is an excellent host who puts a great deal of effort into maintaining the homely and welcoming atmosphere of the hotel. It is always spotlessly clean and the rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished. Quirky doesn’t even come close.
Cons: There is nothing whatsoever to dislike here. From the port and bath robes in the rooms to the first class breakfast everything is first class.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was absolutely beautiful. The staff were very friendly. I originally booked 2 double bedrooms, when we got there we had been moved to the small house which was just perfect. We were travelling with 4month old twins ,a 3yr old and 3 adults . The house was very well equipped with everything you would need . Location was perfect the town was lovely.
Cons: There was nothing not to like...only that we only had 1 night and longer would have been good.

7.5 Good
Pros: The room was clean and comfortable, as was the bathroom. The gardens were well maintained and attractive. The owner delivered a delicious breakfast to our room the following morning.
Cons: The accommmodation is right on a busy road which we found noisy. Also, we had booked expecting a genius 10% discount which the owner would not honour even though we showed him the booking confirmation. It was not a huge amount extra but we felt disappointed that he charged us more than we were expecting. He had sent an email prior to our arrival with his room charge clearly stated so we can only assume he did not approve booking.com’s discount offer.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place to overnight on way to/from Calais - about an hour’s easy drive. Quirky little property, additional facilities and well-adapted for most people with a disability.
Cons: Eating places are a drive away but there is a facility to cook for yourself
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the staff were very kind and friendly, the room was nice and I liked their dogs and chickens
Cons: I had no notification that the proprietors cannot accept cards and so I had to drive into Hazebroucke on the last day to get cash. The address was not very informative. We thought it was in Hazebroucke. There was no mention that the part of the rue St. Omer it is on is out in the country. It was difficult to find.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Hosts couldn’t have done more to help. Beautiful garden.
Cons: On a very busy road
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect rural location but close to facilities. Comfortable accommodation with very good breakfast.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A good size bedroom with a large ensuite shower room. The breakfast was served in our room and was fine. We were a little late to arrive, but had advised them beforehand, and they were very accommodating with it. The setting was excellent, with grounds to sit out in in the evening, and it was very quiet. Parking was ample, and we could park immediately outside our room.
Cons: The property was a little tricky to find in the first place as the numbering on the road was a little random as it became more rural. We had to pay cash upon checkout, which was not obvious from the booking material. This was not a problem in itself, because between the four of us we had enough, but we might have had to go searching for a cash machine.
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Everything!!it was very peaceful;superb breakfasts;and i relaxed;just what i needed

Pros: Everything was lovely. Received very warm welcome. Beautifully decorated and clean. Comfortable bed. Breakfast lovely and peaceful surroundings. Secure parking for our motorcycle. Tito was very cute too. Sophie recommended a few restaurants for us in the town that was only 10 minutes ride away.
Cons: Pillows were a little small but we managed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was really good. General standard was really good. Lovely quiet area in rural territory away from the motorway and industry in Dunkirk.. Owner was really nice. Bathroom really clean, functional and tidy.
Cons: The only thing we didn't like, was the communal area. There are three bedrooms branching off the central communal area. As we highly value our own privacy, we would not like it if there were people playing music or playing pool in the communal area, or talking/drinking till late. As it happened there were no other guests, so we had all the privacy we wanted, however if the two other rooms had been occupied, we might not have enjoyed it as much as we have. On the up-side if you like to mingle with other people, then the communal area is the place to be.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely rural location. Very peaceful. The welcome and advice from Sophie and Benoit was faultless. The bedrooms were very comfortable, spacious and well thought out with the guest in mind. Spotlessly clean. Great sitting room and games room.

Pros: A bit off the beaten track but well worth the effort. Very very peaceful. Great facilities to cook your own food. Tea and coffee was provided. A lovely communal area great for bigger family get togethers or for groups of friends. Breakfast was served in the main house - lovely home made bread.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: A very quiet location in the countryside just outside the village of Merris. Parking on site and a warm welcome from very friendly and knowledgeable owners. Twin room with en-suite in a separate block comprising four guest rooms and a communal lounge and kitchen area which can be used by all guests. Comfortable beds with electric adjustment and a well equipped bathroom. Basic breakfast with home-made bread, jams and local cheeses. Nice friendly place to stay with 2 dogs and 2 cats and plenty of opportunity to talk to the owners who have a huge amount of local knowledge of the area.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location was lovely and peaceful. Regarding the breakfast, the food was beautifully presented.
Cons: The breakfast was designed for a very specialist taste - home made bread, mixed fruit jams, cake with cranberries and specialist cheeses. From our point of view we would have preferred a selection of breads/croissants as the bread wasn't to our taste; neither was the other food. The coffee and juice were delicious.

Our room was spotless & spacious, her beds were comfortable and loved the fluffy comforters! Her breakfast was generous . . . great coffee, juice, homemade jams, local cheeses, yogurts & great croissants & baguettes from one of the 4 bakeries in town! Bergues is agreat walking town, very picturesque. Her B&B was an easy drive for us to visit WWI/WWII sites of Ypres & Dunkirk. Highly recommend this B&B!

Pros: We really enjoyed our stay. Nathalie was very helpful and told us a lot about the area. She was very patient with our very limited French skills.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and customer focused owners, they even parked out their own car from garden so we can park inside. Despite our late arrival, owner spent some time with us giving tips for interesting POIs in the area, even shared a bottle of wine with us.
Cons: One of the 2 rooms we had was a bit less comfortable (lower ceiling, open WC). Breakfast may be a bit enriched (ham, eggs, vegetables).
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Just opened for a few months. Nice clean room with roomy bathroom. Quiet surroundings. Breakfast was enough, with home made jams. +Some little shops (bakery, boucherie, minimarket) nearby. Be aware that all rooms are only accessible by safe stairs. Friendly owner.
Cons: I rented a tripleroom for a particular price. Because I was with my mother, we wanted to sleep in separate beds. We were told to pay an extra € 15 for the bedlinnen. Coffeemachine and teakettle were in the communal room, like other things of the room facilities. We were asked not to take drinks to the room because of possible circles on the wood.

Pros: Great location and very friendly would definitely recommend
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about our stay was truly perfect - from the welcome we received on arrival from the personable and lovely Nathalie, the beautiful, spotlessly clean and spacious room and bathroom, the comfortable beds, the powerful shower to the scrumptious breakfast in the morning. This B&B offers 7⭐ quality and service. Highly recommend.
Cons: We didn't have enough time to enjoy the games provided in the dining/welcome area! We will have to return therefore!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly owners and very helpful. Nice room and bathroom and comfy bed. Came and went as we pleased and fresh breakfast everyday
Cons: No complaints at all. Nice and peaceful
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nathalie is just an amazing person. Her hospitality can only put a smile on one‘s face. She owns this wonderful small paradise. The Hotel has been renovated one year ago and everything looks new and well decorated with Love. The dining room for example has those old ground, marvellous! Zegerscapel is really small and there are no restaurants nearby, but a small grocery store. You’ll find plenty of restaurants and Cafés in a radius of 10-15km. And it is quite central for trips to Cassel, St. Omer, Bergues, Dunkerque or Opal Coast.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: This is a great place to stay if on route from (or to) Calais - it's just about an hour's driving from there. It's a little off the beaten track up a small road out of Noordpeene...you'll need the satnav! We were greeted by the owner and her daughter, although they only speak a little English (and us a little French!), they were able to directed to a restaurant in nearby Cassel for some dinner. The room was quaint, very clean and well equipped for an overnight stay. A delicious continental breakfast was delivered by hand in a cold bag the next day - lovely!
Cons: Nowhere near to go and eat - the nearest place is a good 10 -15 minute drive away

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Room was clean and modern with a nice contemporary feel and is in a great location.
Cons: A lot of street noise as the traffic light stop was just outside the window. Personally I don't like the non staffed concept, OK for some but I prefer the human touch

Pros: Lovely rooms with all the added little extras. Took a short time to work how to check in on the self service machine outside the door. Breakfast was extra but worth it.
Cons: Shame the restaurant was closed in the evening as looked like it would have been good.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location
Cons: The rooms were were small- no place for luggage. Showers very small.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: As a hotel a little unusual no normal reception staffed by humans registration as effected by an electronic system not complicated. Saw humans at breakfast which itself was very adequate with all fresh produce.
Cons: The door closing system of rooms and entry door was very load could be quieter without loosing it's effect.

Cons: No air conditioning. No reception desk
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location in the middle of Dunkirk. The room was very clean and modern with a very good shower. Rooms seemed reasonably insulated from noise from other guests (apart from normal doors closing). It had a nice view over the marina. Bed was comfortable. Self service check in seemed to work.
Cons: There was no contact with any staff as reception/restaurant only opened in the morning and evening. If you lost your key, I am not sure what you wold have done.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location The restraunt was closed when we stayed which is ok it was Easter Sunday it’s just that we werent made aware.
Cons: Breakfast was average
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The customer service was superb. Nothing was to much trouble. We were made to feel more like family. Bed was really comfortable and the little extras were a nice touch. We ate in the restaurant and the food was one of the best meals we had on our holiday. The staff were all happy and Sophie is a wonderful host. If we are staying in Dunkerque again we would definitely stay here.
Cons: It was unfortunate the weather was very hot which made the bedroom very muggy. Air conditioning would have been amazing.

Pros: The young lady who greeted us was very pleasant and understood English. She showed us the room, said we could use the kitchen and sitting room down stairs which had a TV and settee and told us where to eat as the onsite restaurant was closed on a Sunday. Comfy room, very quiet as in the countryside, lovely breakfast with lots of choice and very good value for money.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful especially when our train was massively delayed! Also after we told them we were leaving early in the morning and wouldn't need breakfast, when we changed our minds the table was laden with fab food and with a smile...!
Cons: It would have been useful to know there was a restaurant right next door for dinner the night before and the times it was open.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location for the port (we overestimated time to the port and managed to catch an earlier ferry), lovely and comfortable and Cindy was very welcoming. We had to telephone ahead as we were to arrive out of hours, our room key was left in our room with a lovely note on the blackboard and we also let Cindy know what time we wanted breakfast. Breakfast was very yummy and set us up for the last leg of our journey home. In all honesty we wish we had known about this place in our previous trips.
6.3 Good

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly owners, very welcoming, nice dogs too!
7.0 Good
Pros: The bed was comfortable, the floors immaculately clean.
Cons: Nobody around when we arrived, no signage or prior instructions how to get to room. Felt like intruders sneaking around trying to find our room, exhausted all downstairs rooms, climbed the extremely steep stairs to discover 4 unmarked doors, one of which was unlocked with key on floor behind door, no note so assumed it was our room. Very small, very clean. Bedsheet has creases indicative of previous occupants but with no one around ce lavie. No soap in shower, tried to use earthenware dispenser from sink but nowhere to store it. Only 1 working power socket down near floor next to door, ironic notice on door “best practice, remove laptop, mobile phone etc” when not a chance of plugging any of these in (kettle had priority) Only discovered WiFi password pinned to refrigerator in breakfast area by being nosey. Food at breakfast was very good however no choice and no prior notice of content which resulted in courses arriving as and when. Obviously a lot of people like this type of accommodation as we booked purely on the feedback - we will not be returning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff, comfy beds, great countryside location only 40 minutes from Calais Eurotunnel. Perfect for night stopover

Pros: I think the fact that this was our second visit speaks for itself. We have been very pleased with the service provided.
Cons: I don't think there is anything to comment on.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were greeted by Anita, she was so lovely and helpful and inviting. We were there to visit a WWl memorial of a family member at Hazebrouck Communal Cemetery commemorating 100 yrs. We were right in the centre of town, a quick walk from train station to shops and places to eat, bakeries and chocolate shops. The room was cosy and amenities were fantastic, everything you could want. Breakfast was amazing, croissants were flaky and the selection of bread and fruit was beautiful. Highly recommended, a true gem in Hazebrouck. Jeanette & Jesse
Cons: I could not fault this stay.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Big room with interesting furnishings. Provided us with a parking permit, we were lucky enough to park right outside the property. Breakfast was delivered to door with a gentle tap of door to let us know it was ready. Couldn’t do enough to help and make sure we had all we needed.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The owner was very welcoming, nice bars and restaurants within walking distance.
Cons: All good no complaints.

Pros: Was very late for check in, midnight, and despite last check in being 10pm, they waited for me. First time in France esp driving on yhe right and didn't want to go looking for another hotel in the middle of the night, so was extremely grateful to the young lad waiting up. Absolute gent!!!

7.0 Good
Pros: Clean room and bathroom. Bed was comfortable. Shower worked well. Breakfast and dinner were enjoyable. Free parking was located nearby. Close to a supermarket for last minute purchases. Staff were approachable and helpful.
Cons: Although this is not a very tourist hotel with pretty rooms and views, it was comfortable for a brief one night's stay.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good, Dinner in the restaurant was outstanding. Good surroundings, friendly staff and excellent food, well prepared and imaginatively presented.
Cons: Lack of air conditioning but this could not be expected in a 2-star property in an unprecedented heatwave. Would have appreciated a second chair
7.0 Good
Pros: The staff were helpful with check in especially with parking our motorbike outside the hotel
Cons: The room was more basic than I'd expected and there were a couple of improvements that could be made to make it more comfortable e.g. there's only one bedside table, no mirror in the bedroom and the bath is slippery for a shower
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A quiet area with masses of parking. Simple unpretentious rooms. Superb food in the restaurant and an excellent breakfast. The owner is charming, helpful and understands English for those of us who do not speak French.
Cons: No problems whatsoever.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was amazing and they accommodated our late check in
6.8 Good
Pros: Friendly staff, not that we saw them much as we didn't eat in most of the time, preferring to explore. Easy parking over the road, and a large supermarket across the square if you needed anything. Good breakfast and evening meal.
Cons: We normally self cater and we forgot there is often not tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms :( It was warm ish when we were there, mid 20's, and there is no air con or fan so we needed to leave the window open and it is a busy straight road so quite noisy. There are two floors and no lift for those not as fit as they should be - we were on the 1st floor. Not a lot in the way of bars or restaurants in the area.

Pros: Well located and reasonable parking nearby. Dinner in restauarant was quiet and menu a little dissapointing
Cons: The Restaurant
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We got two single rooms (as requested). They were on the second floor of the nicely renovated building. Best to have rooms on the top, second floor (as we had) as the floor boards are croaking (old building)... also best not to have a room above the entrance as it slams shut with a bang that may awake you. The rooms are nice and clean. The breakfast is more than decent for 12,5€ pp. loved the quaint town of sint winoksbergen.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice place in the building next to the hotel. We had our own entrance (room 29) opposite the church. Superb beds and nice and clean toilet (separate) and bathroom. Room has a good size and plenty of space for baggage.
Cons: Nothing

Cons: Fitted sheet a little small for the bed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location in the centre of the village, a handful of cafe's, bars, restaurants nearby. Nice bar on site. Friendly host.
Cons: Nothing, it was all good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Superb petit dejeuner, friendly atmosphere for a lone traveller with dog which I was able to take into the breakfast room which makes a huge difference... The situation of the hotel is charming as having now driven round Dunkirque It is not so pretty. This place has a fab baker, butcher (best duck rillette I've been able to buy in years) and seriously impressive cheese shop nearby if you want to stock up for your arrival at your destination. Dog not allowed in any of those! I couldn't check in until 11.30pm ish as the ferry arrived at 11pm and although there was no one on reception they sms'd me the entry code and my key was waiting for my room on the reception desk. It was a short drive from the port and I was able to park RIGHT OUTSIDE the door. They also made the most fabulously delicious sandwich for the onward drive to Hamburg... Merci beaucoup pour ca!. ;-)
Cons: I can't complain about anything. I got exactly what I needed. Thank you.
